From "Missing Funds" Crusader to Luxury EV Owner — Nigerians Demand Answers

Barely two weeks after Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh became a national hero for exposing ₦1.15 trillion in undisbursed capital funds and forcing the removal of the Minister of State for Finance by President Tinubu, the Abia lawmaker has been spotted driving into the National Assembly in a brand new Xpeng electric vehicle reportedly worth over N160 million.

The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows "Onyeocha na Aba" cruising into the Assembly complex in the sleek luxury EV—just days after he made headlines for declaring "misappropriation of funds is a crime."

Nigerians are asking the same question he asked the Finance Minister:

Where did the money come from?

The Xpeng is not an ordinary vehicle. It's a luxury electric SUV—a statement of status and wealth.

For a man who built his brand on being a "champion of the common man" fighting for the nation's neglected projects, the optics are disastrous.

What's your take?

Missing Teenage Girls From Ebonyi Found in Anambra in Alleged Trafficking Case (Photos, Video)

Several teenage girls and young women reported missing from Ebonyi State have been found in Aguleri, Anambra State, following the uncovering of an alleged human trafficking and exploitation operation at a facility identified as Morning Star Brothel.

The discovery followed a complaint by a mother who had been searching for her daughter since October. Acting on information received, concerned individuals traced the missing girls to the location, where a number of teenagers and young women were found.

One of the girls, who said she was 15 years old, identified herself as Divine. She explained that she and her sister were brought to the location by a relative after being promised legitimate work. According to her account, they were told the job involved clothing-related activities and would enable them earn money to support their family.

Divine whose mother laid the complaint stated that after arriving in Anambra State, she and others realised that the work they had been promised was not what they were brought for.

She said they immediately requested to return home, but their requests were denied. Instead, they were allegedly compelled to remain at the location under threats and deception.

She further explained that the girls were told they had to repay the cost of their transportation before they could be allowed to leave. Several attempts by some of the girls to escape were reportedly unsuccessful, leaving them trapped for months.

Other girls at the location confirmed her account. When asked their ages, three of them stated they were 17, 16 and 15 years old. The girls also disclosed that they came from different parts of the country, including Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Nsukka and Niger states, suggesting a coordinated network targeting vulnerable young people.

According to the accounts, the girls were kept under strict control and subjected to conditions they described as degrading and traumatic.

The incident has sparked outrage and renewed calls for stronger action against human trafficking and child exploitation. Civil society groups and concerned citizens have urged law enforcement agencies and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, to immediately investigate the matter, rescue all victims and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from security agencies regarding arrests or ongoing investigations. However, the case has intensified conversations about poverty, unemployment and the vulnerability of young girls to trafficking under the guise of employment opportunities.

When contacted, the Honourable Commissioner For Woman's Affairs in Ebonyi State, Barrister Felicia Nwakpuma said she has written to her Anambra counterpart in order to ascertain where the incident happened in Anambra State.

PoliticsEbonyi Social Media Critic Sent To Prison For Allegedly Defaming SSG by Wisdomkosi(op): 9:48am On Jan 13
My Facebook Account Was Hacked – Ebonyi Social Media Critic, Polycarp Obinna Alegu Tells Magistrate in Court | #IgbereTV

... remanded In Prison

By Wisdom Nwedene, Abakaliki

A Magistrate Court sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on Monday ordered the remand of a social media critic, Mr Polycap Obinna Alegu, over alleged defamation of the Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government (SSG), Prof. Grace Umezurike.

Mr Alegu, 36, was arraigned before Magistrate Court 1, Abakaliki, presided over by Chief Magistrate Sandra Ifeanyi-Onyibe, on a two-count charge bordering on criminal defamation and cybercrime.

According to the charge marked MAB/7c/2026, the defendant allegedly made a false, malicious and defamatory publication against the SSG on December 16, 2025, through social media.

In Count One, the prosecution alleged that Mr Alegu published defamatory content against Umezurike, an offence said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 375(A) of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Count Two accused him of knowingly and intentionally making a false and defamatory publication on Facebook against Umezurike, contrary to Section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) (Amendment) Act.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Sunday Ununu, objected to the reading of the charges, arguing that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) lacked the authority to initiate remand proceedings or file the case on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Ununu further contended that only the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) had the constitutional power to institute such criminal proceedings.

However, the Chief Magistrate overruled the objections, holding that the Constitution empowers the NSCDC to institute criminal cases on behalf of the AGF. She also dismissed the argument that the agency lacked locus standi to seek a remand order.

When asked to respond to the allegations, Mr Alegu told the court that his social media accounts had been hacked and that he was not responsible for the defamatory posts.

He further claimed that comments made from his account on other people’s posts were also done by hackers.

Following the plea, defence counsel applied for bail, informing the court that the defendant had credible sureties ready.

The NSCDC counsel, Mrs Linda Akam, opposed the bail application, arguing that the Magistrate Court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the substantive matter or grant bail.

In her ruling, Magistrate Ifeanyi-Onyibe held that there was a prima facie case against the defendant.

“It is better that the issue of bail is left for the court with the requisite jurisdiction,” she ruled.

The court consequently ordered that the case file be forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) in the Ebonyi State Ministry of Justice for legal advice.

The matter was then adjourned to January 26, 2026, for a report of compliance.

"Stop Printing Children" - Ebonyi Youth Launches Grassroots Campaign to Curtail Early Marriage and Rapid Childbearing

By Wisdom Nwedene, Abakaliki

A young man from Ebonyi State who refers to himself on social media as “Nose of the Gods” has stirred public conversation with a grassroots campaign urging young people in the state to rethink early marriage and having many children.

Over the past few weeks, banners created by the activist have been displayed at major junctions in parts of the state, carrying messages that challenge long-held social norms.

In a video shared online alongside the banners, he explained the motivation behind the campaign, saying he wants to help change narratives around why the state continues to lag in development.

He described the campaign as his personal way of supporting Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration in driving the development of Ebonyi State.

In the video, the campaigner lamented that Ebonyi is often unfairly judged by people from neighbouring states like Anambra because of widespread underdevelopment. He linked this, in part, to a pattern he sees among young people who prioritise marriage and starting families in their early twenties over investing in their personal growth, education, and economic pursuits.

“If you give a 20‑year‑old Ebonyi boy one million naira, he will think first of getting married instead of investing in a business or skill,” he said in the message, stressing that young men and women should think differently if the state is to progress.

Early marriage remains a concern in Ebonyi State, where roughly 13 percent of women aged 20 to 49 were married before the age of 18.

Studies show that early marriage often limits educational attainment and future economic opportunities, perpetuating cycles of poverty and underdevelopment in the region.

He tagged his message/outreach “NO TO EARLY MARRIAGE, NO TO PRINTING OF CHILDREN.”

Supporters have shared and engaged with his posts, while others have expressed discomfort and disagreement with his stance.

The Nose of the Gods campaign, while driven by one individual, taps into larger conversations about youth development, social norms, and economic empowerment, reflecting growing youth-led voices seeking change in southeastern Nigeria.

PoliticsAPGA Youth Leader Calls For Igbo Unity Under APGA Ahead Of 2026 Politics by Wisdomkosi(op): 1:22pm On Dec 31, 2025
APGA Youth Leader Calls for Igbo Unity Under APGA Ahead of 2026 Politics

A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Comrade Dr. (Hon.) Amb. Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu, has called on Igbo political leaders and stakeholders to rally around APGA, describing the party as the most credible platform for articulating and negotiating Igbo interests in Nigerian politics.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the APGA National Youth Leader said Nigeria’s evolving political landscape demands a unified Igbo voice, warning that political fragmentation continues to weaken the South-East’s influence at the national level.

According to him, APGA remains the only political party founded on Igbo identity, values, and ideology, stressing that the party was created not for convenience but as a deliberate political platform for the protection and advancement of Igbo interests.

“History, culture, and political reality have shown clearly that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) remains the only authentic political platform through which the Igbo nation can effectively negotiate, protect its interests, and project its collective aspirations within the Nigerian political space.

“APGA was not formed out of convenience; it was born out of vision, identity, and destiny. It represents the political soul of the Igbo people, our values, our democratic culture, and our belief in fairness, equity, enterprise, and communal responsibility,” he stated.

Chukwu referenced the legacy of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, noting that APGA was handed to Ndigbo as a political mandate and urging Igbo people to continue to honour what he described as Ojukwu’s final wish for the party to remain the political home of the Igbo nation.

He commended the people of Anambra State for consistently sustaining APGA in power, adding that governance in the state has shown that the party is capable of delivering development, stability, and progressive leadership beyond ethnic symbolism.

“We specially commend and appreciate the great people of Anambra State for consistently upholding the historic mandate (APGA) handed to Ndigbo by our eternal leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, whose final wish was clear and unmistakable: that APGA should remain the political home and rallying point of the Igbo people.

“Through thick and thin, Ndi Anambra have defended this mandate with courage, conviction, and consistency. Today, under visionary leadership, Anambra has shown Nigeria that APGA is not just a party of identity but a party of competence, development, and progressive governance,” the statement added.

The APGA youth leader also called on Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, to consider returning to the party, arguing that closer alignment between APGA-led states would strengthen the South-East’s bargaining power and political relevance at the national level.

“I call on the remaining Igbo governor outside the APC, the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, to heed the call of history and return home by joining APGA again,” he said, clarifying that, “this is not a call driven by partisanship but by strategic Igbo interest. Together with Charles Soludo, Governor Otti can help strengthen APGA as a dominant regional force that commands respect nationally and gives Ndigbo a solid platform for political negotiation and relevance.”

In the same vein, the youth leader appealed to Senators Victor Umeh and Tony Nwoye to rejoin APGA, noting that the party played a key role in their political rise and remains firmly rooted among grassroots supporters in the South-East.

“Failure to return home may place their political future at risk, as APGA is fully positioned to reclaim its space and mandate in the 2027 general elections,” he warned.

Chukwu further described APGA as a party that reflects core Igbo values such as community-focused leadership, integrity, accountability, enterprise, and participatory democracy, adding that these ideals align naturally with the Igbo worldview.

“APGA remains the only political party in Nigeria that truly reflects and protects Igbo ideology and democratic culture. It is the party that embodies the Igbo philosophy of:
“Be your brother’s and sister’s keeper”
Community-first leadership,
Participatory democracy,
Integrity, honesty, and accountability,
People-oriented governance and shared prosperity.

“Unlike other platforms where Igbo interests are often diluted or traded, APGA exists solely to preserve, project, and promote the virtues of the Igbo people; hard work, enterprise, truthfulness, self-reliance, and collective progress,” he stressed.

As political activities gradually build toward the 2026 and 2027 elections, he urged Igbo youths, professionals, traders, traditional institutions, and political leaders to embrace APGA as a unifying platform, stressing that unity is essential for effective political negotiation.

“I therefore call on all Igbo political leaders, youths, professionals, traders, and traditional institutions to embrace the 3rd largest political party in Nigeria, APGA fully in 2026. The era of political scattering must end. A divided people cannot negotiate effectively, but a united people command respect,” he stated.

He maintained that APGA is more than a political party, describing it as a political identity and rallying point for the Igbo nation.

“APGA is not just a party, it is the political identity of the Igbo nation.
The time to unite is now.
The platform to unite under is clear.
APGA is the way forward,” he emphasized.

Chukwu is the National Youth Leader of APGA and the Chairman of the Forum of National Youth Leaders of all Political Parties in Nigeria. He is also the party’s candidate for the forthcoming Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election.

PoliticsHow British Colonial Policies Entrenched Lifelong Discrimination Against Igbos by Wisdomkosi(op): 10:30am On Dec 29, 2025
How British Colonial Policies Entrenched Lifelong Discrimination Against Igbo, Nigerian Christians

By Dr Chike Obidigbo

A Legacy of Division

In Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, two groups face persistent discrimination that traces back over a century to British colonial rule: the Igbo ethnic group and the Christian community. While their struggles are distinct, both stem from deliberate colonial policies that fragmented what could have been a unified nation, leaving scars that remain visible—and deadly—today.

Although it is not ancient history, the structures created by British administrators between 1900 and 1960 continue to determine who holds power, gets resources, and in some tragic cases, who lives and who dies in modern Nigeria.
1914 Amalgamation: Forced Unity Without Integration

To understand today’s crisis, we must return to 1914, when British colonial administrator Sir Frederick Lugard merged two vastly different territories—the Northern and Southern protectorates—into a single colony called Nigeria. The name itself was coined by a British journalist, Flora Shaw (later Lady Lugard), from the Niger River.

Britain’s motivation was simple: administrative convenience and profit. The resource-rich South could fund the underdeveloped North, reducing Britain’s colonial expenses. But, this “marriage of convenience” joined peoples with different languages, religions, political systems, and economies without their consent or any plan for integration.

While the South, particularly the Southeast-home to the Igbo people- was predominantly Christian, with decentralized, democratic governance traditions, the North operated under Islamic law with centralized emirates and sultanates. These differences weren’t merely cultural—they represented fundamentally incompatible visions of how society should be organized.

Britain’s decision to use Southern resources to fund Northern administration while maintaining separate development created resentment that persists 110 years later.

Indirect Rule: Favoritism With Consequences
Britain governed its colonies through “Indirect Rule”—using existing local leaders rather than direct British administration. This system worked smoothly in Northern Nigeria, where emirs and sultans already ruled. The British simply co-opted these leaders, preserving their power in exchange for cooperation.

But in Igbo territory in the Southeast, this approach failed catastrophically. The Igbo traditionally governed through village councils, age grades, and family compounds—a system of distributed power rather than centralized authority. There were no kings or chiefs for the British to work with.

Unable to find traditional rulers, the British invented them. They appointed “Warrant Chiefs”—men who held written warrants from the colonial government but had no legitimate authority in Igbo culture. These imposed leaders became instruments of oppression, particularly when tasked with collecting taxes.

The result was explosive. In 1929, Igbo women led one of Africa’s first major anti-colonial uprisings—the Aba Women’s Riot. Thousands of women protested the warrant chief system and proposed taxation. British colonial forces responded with bullets, killing at least 55 women and wounding thousands more.

Meanwhile, the educational divide deepened. Christian missionaries established schools throughout the South, including Igbo areas, while the North resisted mission schools to preserve Islamic education. By independence in 1960, the South had far higher literacy rates and dominated the educated workforce—a disparity that fueled accusations of Igbo dominance and intensified ethnic resentment.

Independence Without Equality (1960-1967)
When Nigeria gained independence on October 1, 1960, many hoped colonial divisions would heal. Instead, they calcified into national policy.

Despite British promises of democratic transition, political maneuvering—with British influence—resulted in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, a Northerner, becoming Prime Minister. Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, a prominent Igbo nationalist and one of Africa’s foremost intellectuals, was relegated to the largely ceremonial role of Governor-General, despite his wider experience and popular support.
More troubling was the introduction of the “Northernization policy” by Northern Premier Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto. This policy explicitly favored Northerners for government positions. In a candid 1964 interview with foreign journalists, Sir Ahmadu Bello stated he would rather employ foreigners than Igbos in the northern civil service, citing fears of Igbo domination.
For Igbo, the message was clear: despite their education, enterprise, and contributions to building modern Nigeria, they were unwelcomed in their own country.
The Biafran War: Nigeria’s Unforgettable Genocide (1967-1970)

Mounting discrimination, coupled with political instability and military coups, led to catastrophe. In 1967, the Igbo-dominated Eastern Region declared independence as the Republic of Biafra. The Nigerian government responded with total war.
What followed was one of the 20th century’s most devastating conflicts. The Nigerian military imposed a complete blockade on Biafra, cutting off food, medicine, and humanitarian aid. Starvation became a weapon of war.

The images that emerged shocked the world: children with distended bellies, their limbs reduced to sticks—a condition that became known globally as “kwashiorkor” from this conflict. While exact figures remain disputed, credible estimates suggest between one and three million people died, the vast majority Igbo civilians, primarily from starvation.

Post-War Punishment: Economic Asphyxiation
The Nigerian government implemented what can only be described as economic warfare against the Igbo population. Every Igbo person who had money in Nigerian banks before the war—regardless of whether they had thousands or millions of pounds—received exactly £20 (twenty British pounds).

To understand the magnitude of this policy: imagine a successful business owner, a medical doctor, or a wealthy trader with £50,000 in savings (equivalent to nearly $100,000 in 1970 dollars) receiving the same £20 as someone who had £50. Life savings, business capital, family wealth—all reduced to £20.

Systematic Exclusion: From 1970 to Today
In the 55 years since the war ended, Igbos have been systematically marginalized from Nigeria’s power structures:
• Political Leadership: No Igbo has served as President, or Chief Justice since the war. When an Ijaw, Goodluck Jonathan, became President, as a Southerner from the former Eastern Region, through succession, not election; Igbo supported him amid intense opposition.
• Military and Security: Despite the Igbo tradition of military service, they are conspicuously absent from top positions in the armed forces, police, customs, immigration, and intelligence services.
• Infrastructure: The Southeast—one of Nigeria’s most densely populated and economically productive regions—has the least federal infrastructure investment. While other regions have multiple airports, seaports, and federal highways, the Southeast has been deliberately neglected.
• Federal Presence: Major federal institutions, agencies, and industries are rarely located in Igbo areas, despite constitutional provisions for federal character and geographic equity.

This marginalization has fueled renewed separatist sentiment. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, emerged in 2012 advocating for Biafran independence. In 2025, Kanu was sentenced to life imprisonment on treason charges—a move many see as further evidence of state persecution.

A Literary Giant Speaks Truth to Power
Nigeria’s most celebrated author, Chinua Achebe—whose novel “Things Fall Apart” is among the most widely read African books worldwide—devoted his later years to documenting this discrimination.

In his 1983 book “The Trouble with Nigeria” and his 2012 memoir “There Was a Country,” Achebe argued that Nigeria suffers from an “Igbo problem.” Not that Igbos themselves are the problem, but rather that other Nigerian ethnic groups achieve consensus primarily through “shared resentment of the Igbo people.”

Achebe documented case after case of qualified Igbos being removed from positions and replaced with less qualified individuals from other ethnic backgrounds. He argued this practice—multiplied across decades and institutions—has crippled Nigeria’s development by prioritizing ethnic quotas over competence.

He attributed anti-Igbo sentiment partly to Igbo “competitive individualism and adventurous spirit,” which drove rapid advancement and created envy. He also acknowledged that some Igbo behavior—what he called “noisy exhibitionism”—could provoke resentment. But he insisted that systematic discrimination remained fundamentally unjust and was destroying Nigeria’s potential.
Contemporary legal voices echo Achebe’s concerns. Human rights lawyer Barrister Malcolm Omirhobo has repeatedly condemned ethnic profiling of Igbos as unconstitutional and dangerous. He argues that Nigeria’s constitution guarantees equality and forbids ethnic discrimination—principles that cannot be overridden by ethnic prejudice or religious authority.

“No people deserve to be collectively shamed because of the actions of a few individuals,” Omirhobo states. He maintains that Nigeria’s real problems are injustice, corruption, and poor governance—not any particular ethnic group.

Christians Under Siege: From Colonial Manipulation to Modern Persecution
While Igbos face ethnic discrimination, Nigeria’s Christians—roughly half the population—face religious persecution that has escalated dramatically in recent decades.

The roots, again, trace to colonial policy. British administrators often favored Muslim rulers in ethnically mixed regions, denying church permits and blocking missionaries while supporting Islamic authority. These patterns created underlying tensions that erupted after independence.
Sharia Law and Second-Class Citizenship
In 1999, when Nigeria returned to democracy after decades of military rule, twelve northern states declared Sharia (Islamic law) as their legal system. For Muslims, this represented cultural autonomy. For Christians living in these states, it created institutional discrimination.
Christians in Sharia states report:
• Denial of permits to build churches or repair existing ones
• Exclusion from government appointments and advancement
• Pressure on Christian students to study Islam in public schools
• Courts that apply religious law to civil disputes regardless of parties’ faith
• Being treated as “second-class citizens” in their own country

These are not isolated complaints but systematic patterns documented by human rights organizations, though the Nigerian government disputes many allegations.

According to international monitoring organizations, tens of thousands of Nigerian Christians have been killed in the past decade. Open Doors USA, which tracks Christian persecution globally, has ranked Nigeria among the world’s most dangerous countries for Christians for several consecutive years.

Government Failure and International Response
The Nigerian government’s response has been widely criticized as inadequate. Accusations include:
• Failure to prevent attacks despite intelligence warnings
• Minimal prosecution of perpetrators, creating a culture of impunity
• Security force appointments perceived to favor Muslims
. Dismissing religious motivations, instead framing attacks as “farmer-herder conflicts”.

Many Christians feel abandoned by their own government, leading to self-defense militias and vigilante justice—responses that further destabilize affected regions.

The crisis has attracted international attention. The United States designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” for religious freedom violations, citing systematic persecution of Christians by violent Islamist groups. This designation, while symbolic, places Nigeria alongside nations like China, Iran, and North Korea—countries recognized for severe religious persecution.
Conclusion: Breaking the Colonial Curse
Britain created modern Nigeria through force and administrative convenience, not organic development or popular will. The structural inequalities, ethnic hierarchies, and religious tensions built into Nigeria’s foundation have produced over a century of discrimination, marginalization, and violence.

The Igbo and Christian communities in Nigeria represent the most visible—yet often overlooked—victims of this colonial legacy. Their suffering is not ancient history but present-day reality, from economic exclusion to government marginalization to violent persecution.

International awareness and pressure are essential. When powerful nations ignore systematic discrimination and religious persecution for economic or political convenience, they become complicit in that suffering.

Nigeria’s crisis is a test of whether the international community genuinely cares about human rights or only invokes them selectively. The Igbo and Christian communities in Nigeria deserve more than sympathy. They deserve justice, equality, and security—rights theoretically guaranteed by Nigeria’s constitution but denied in practice.

The question facing Nigeria—and the watching world—is whether a nation built on colonial division can transcend that legacy and become truly one nation where all citizens are genuinely equal. The answer will determine not only Nigeria’s future but also whether post-colonial Africa can overcome the structures designed to keep it divided.

Anambra Billionaire Professor Who Left Secondary School at 32 Unveils 7 New Books on 70th Birthday

Anambra-born billionaire industrialist and celebrated polymath, Prof. Poly .I. Emenike, is set to unveil seven new books to mark his 70th birthday, which is a milestone that further cements his reputation as one of Africa’s most inspiring intellectual figures and entrepreneurial icons.

Widely described as a polymath, the Benjamin Franklin of Nigeria and the Napoleon Hill of Africa, Prof. Emenike’s latest literary contribution adds to his earlier publications and distinguished body of work that reflects decades of study, enterprise, and mentorship grounded in lived experience.

The launch, which coincided with his 70th birthday on 28 November 2025, will see the presentation of a new collection of seven books spanning psychology, entrepreneurship, philosophy, community history, personal development, and the future of African socio-economic systems. For a man who completed secondary school at the age of 32 (when he was already married with two children) and later went on to bag his bachelor’s degree at 41, master’s at 43, doctorate at 59, and professorship at 66, the unveiling is being celebrated nationwide as yet another evidence of his relentless pursuit of knowledge.

Odenigbo Nanka, whose delay in secondary school education was caused by the effects of the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War, appears to have done what Napoleon Hill could not do by going further to bag a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at age 41 and a Master's degree in Marketing at age 43, both from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He went further to receive his PhD in International Business Management from the International School of Management (ISM) at Paris, France at age 59 and became a professor at age 66. He is also an alumnus of Lagos Business School (Pan African University, Lagos, Nigeria) and Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

According to information made available to this reporter, each of the seven latest books by Prof. Emenike touches on a subject area that mirrors different aspects of his intellectual, philanthropic and entrepreneurial journey.

One of them, “NANKA TIGERS AND TIGRESSES OF DEVELOPMENT: The
History of Philanthropy in Nanka, Orumba North L.G.A, of Anambra State, Nigeria”, reflects deeply on the history of philanthropy in his Nanka community and documents how charity evolved into a communal tradition that continues to shape development in Orumba North and beyond. The work also serves as a call to action for citizens and groups to contribute meaningfully to communal upliftment.

Another book, “HOW TO BE A POLYMATH: The Secrets of How to Be a Multi-Talented Person” draws from his background in entrepreneurial psychology and philosophy to encourage readers to expand their capacities and explore multi-talented living. The work lays out contemplative and practical steps for unlocking gifts, mastering diverse disciplines, and breaking the limitations individuals often place on themselves.

In “ONE MONTH OUT OF SOCIAL MEDIA: Effective Strategies on How to Achieve Your Literary & Other Important Goals”, Prof. Emenike confronts digital dependency and its effects on productivity and mental clarity. The book offers strategies for reclaiming focus and purpose in an age of distraction, urging readers to rethink their relationship with screens, reconnect with meaningful work, and rediscover the discipline required for literary and life goals.

Also in the latest collection is “IGBO APPRENTICESHIP (NWABOI) SYSTEM: Why the Scheme Might Not Continue or Endure as Expected!”, where he critically examines the celebrated wealth-creation model that originated from Igboland. The work explores the system’s strengths, challenges, and the looming threat of extinction in an age of digital transformation and globalized trade, using case studies from entrepreneurs who rose from the apprenticeship tradition to become business giants.

His book titled “ENTREPRENEURIAL AND PROFESSIONAL SUCCESSION
GROOMING: Way to Secure a Good Future for Your Business and Professional Empire” captures the necessity of early succession planning for organizations that wish to outlive their founders. It addresses generational transfer, institutional continuity, leadership grooming, and the common pitfalls that threaten business survival across Africa.

In “Wealth and Success Through the Principles of the Law of Attraction”, Prof. Emenike outlines psychological and practical steps for shaping personal outcomes through clarity of thought, mental discipline, and purposeful living. The work challenges readers to cultivate a mindset that attracts opportunities, builds resilience, and transforms setbacks into leverage.

The seventh of the new books, “Swimming Pool Approach (SPA) to Achieving Your Goals & Objectives” lays out practical principles for turning dreams into actionable achievements. Without offering shortcuts, it provides motivation and clarity for individuals who doubt the feasibility of their aspirations or shy away from bold pursuits.

These seven works add to Prof. Emenike's impressive catalogue of twenty-one books published over the years, covering subjects ranging from entrepreneurial philosophy to mental emancipation, Igbo identity, self-development, sports, and the psychology of wealth creation.

Professor Emenike’s first book was published in 2013,by Napoleon Hill Foundation,Wise Virginia,USA and has since been translated into Spanish in 2014,and French in 2016.

His earlier books include:
(1) Entrepreneurial Spirits: Through the Seventeen Success Principles of Napoleon Hill;

(3) How to Alter Your Destiny to the Direction You Want;
(4) The Daily Positive Vitamins for Entrepreneurs;
(5) Think and Grow Rich: African Perspective;

The intellectual, Prof. Poly Emenike, born in 1955 in Nanka, stands today as the Chairman and CEO of NEROS Pharmaceuticals Limited, one of Nigeria’s largest indigenous pharmaceutical companies. His life story is one of exceptional resilience: delayed education due to the civil war; graduation from secondary school in his thirties; multiple degrees earned in his forties and fifties; and eventual global recognition as a scholar, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.

Today, he holds the rare distinction of being the first person outside the United States to receive the Napoleon Hill Foundation Gold Medal Award and to sit on the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. One of his published works on the African perspective of Think and Grow Rich, marks him out and stands him tall as one of the continent’s foremost interpreters of Hill’s success principles.

Prof. Emenike has also left indelible marks in community and youth development. He built a post office in Nanka, a civic centre equipped with library and internet facilities, and the monumental 10,000-capacity NEROS Sports Stadium. His long-running Nanka Champions League, Supa Copa NEROS competition, Jog for Life programme, and sponsorship of the Anambra FA Cup have shaped sports development across Anambra State.

In the education sector, aside being a pro bono part-time lecturer at the Department of Entrepreneurial Studies and the Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state, he also, since 2009, endowed funds across ten departments of the University of Lagos including the School of Pharmacy,Management Sciences and SPGS(School of Post Graduate Studies). He has done the same for four departments at Nnamdi Azikiwe University’s School of Pharmacy, while also sponsoring over 20 undergraduates and assisting more than 100 young people to gain admission into tertiary institutions.

He is a visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship and Member of the Governing Board, UNIZIK Business School (UBS); Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria.

Prof Poly is also a member of UNILAG and UNIZIK Advancement Boards since 2010.

To promote reading culture and self-development amongst Nigerian youths, he has gifted 37,000 copies of one of his widely read books, ‘Entrepreneurial Spirits through the Seventeen Principes of Napoleon Hill’ across Nigeria (1000 copies to each state and the FCT). He also mentors youths across Igbo communities and beyond through another of his pet projects, ‘Poly Emenike Foundation’ where he interacts with them via WhatsApp platform.

His decades of philanthropy and service have earned him numerous honours, including Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), Anambra State’s Philanthropist Extraordinaire and Business Titan Award, and the ASATU Youth Wing’s double honours for community and youth development.

As he marks his 70th birthday with the unveiling of seven new books, tributes have continued to pour in from scholars, entrepreneurs, youth groups, policymakers, and community leaders who describe him as a living compendium of diligence, perseverance, philanthropy, transformational leadership, and academic-cum-entrepreneurial excellence.

This is good. Young guys should work hard
BusinessFrom Banking To Freight Forwarding : Meet Onwuachu, The Mogul Behind Janksmay by Wisdomkosi(op): 5:47pm On Nov 25, 2025
From Bank Security to Freight Forwarding:Meet Ifeanyi Onwuachu, the Mogul Behind Janksmay Group

For some people, success begins with privilege; for others, it begins with humility, hard work, and a willingness to start from the lowest rung. That is the story of Ifeanyi Onwuachu, the dynamic founder of Janksmay Global Services, whose journey into the maritime and freight forwarding world began almost by accident, and far from glamorous.

His entry into the industry was never part of the plan. As a young man fresh from secondary school, all he wanted was to earn a living and find his place in the world. Even though his father worked abroad (in Germany) and his family lived comfortably, he insisted on forging his own path. That conviction led him to an unexpected job as a security guard at the UBA New Market branch in Onitsha.

The role, though modest, became the foundation of the discipline, humility and courtesy that now define his life and business reputation. He handled the work with dignity and seriousness, earning admiration from customers and respect from colleagues. And while the job came with tempting daily tips, he never allowed the momentary comfort to mislead or distract him from his dream; he always knew his destination was greater.

As time progressed, his desire for growth drove him to pursue higher education in Chemical Engineering at the Anambra State University (now Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University). There on campus, he quickly became known for his integrity, charisma, and voracious reading habits. His shelves were filled with biographies of world achievers, which were books that shaped his mindset and aspirations. Alongside academics, he co-founded a music band, De Groove Entertainment, performing at weekends and gaining popularity among students.

After graduation, he explored different ventures, including networking businesses and others, until a call from his in-law opened the door to freight forwarding. Although the field was unfamiliar to him, his curiosity and readiness to learn pushed him to give it a chance. Once he got in, he immersed himself deeply, taking courses, acquiring certifications, and learning directly from an experienced mentor who recognized his honesty and potential.

Soon, he began working with high-end clients and handling complex shipments. His attention to detail and integrity further strengthened his reputation, opening even more doors. That steady rise eventually gave birth to Janksmay Global Services, a thriving firm with a strong presence in Nigeria’s freight forwarding and maritime sector. Today, he leads a growing team and prosperous firm, creating job opportunities and establishing a respected brand in the industry.

His frequent travels to countries such as France, Canada, Qatar, Dubai, Italy,China, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom have broadened both his horizon and his understanding of global trade, allowing him to adapt international best practices to the Nigerian environment. This global exposure, combined with his rigorous training, now shapes his approach to business.

Speaking in an interview with this reporter, Ifeanyi explained that freight forwarding is not optional for anyone involved in international trade, but rather plays the same critical role a lawyer plays in the courtroom. He emphasized that individuals who attempt to handle shipping processes alone often end up losing money or getting their goods stuck due to lack of knowledge about customs laws, tariffs, documentation, and international trade regulations.

The Janksmay Group Boss recalled cases where importers, in a bid to avoid professional service fees, ran into serious trouble with customs both locally and internationally. According to him, many traders mistakenly believe that importing ends with purchasing goods, unaware that clearance, valuation, logistics, and compliance are equally critical. Such mistakes, he said, are the reasons goods sometimes waste away in ports or remain seized indefinitely.

He stressed that a competent freight forwarder guides business owners through all requirements, from customs valuation and tariff systems to shipping documentation, enabling them to plan effectively and scale sustainably. He noted that several clients who started small grew into full-container importers within months simply because they understood the right processes and followed professional guidance.

Beyond the technicalities, Ifeanyi Onwuachu believes that freight forwarding is one of the lifelines of global trade, especially for Nigerian businesses seeking growth. With most raw materials and finished goods coming from abroad, he noted that no serious entrepreneur can successfully scale without understanding or engaging proper freight forwarding services.

Today, Janksmay Group stands as proof that honesty, humility, and determination can rewrite a person’s destiny. From guarding the gates of a bank to handling shipments across continents, Ifeanyi Onwuachu’s story is one of courage, reinvention, and an unflinching pursuit of purpose, a journey that continues to inspire many across and beyond the maritime industry.
