I Was Threatened By NFF Marketing Manager For Composing Song Celebrating Super Eagles - Austino Milado An entertainer and realtor, Mr Austin Charles, popularly known as Austino Milado, has said that he was threatened by an official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in 2002 for composing an evergreen song to celebrate the Super Eagles of Nigeria. The popular song, “Super Eagles Carry Go” also known as “Walele” has been ruling the airwaves since 2002 when it was released for public consumption as it details some of the achievements of Nigerian footballers. However, in an interview published on the social media pages of popular motivational speaker, entrepreneur and documentary filmmaker, Lucky Udu and compiled by Glonat Newsonline, on Wednesday, which had garnered over 1.3m views and over 6,000 comments on Facebook alone, Milado said he has not been appreciated or compensated by the NFF for his patrotism. He said he had sent a copy of the music to the NFF in 2002, alongside a letter and followed up with phone calls and physical visits to the Glass House for acceptance, but that an official at the NFF, whom he identified as the Marketing Manager, now deceased, threatened him with lawsuit. Milado said that the official said he did not get permission from them before using names of retired Super Eagles players to sing and would be sued for that if he persists in seeking for recognition from or adoption of the song by the NFF. Ironically, since 2002, the song has been used by Nigerians as morale booster whenever the national team is playing, with the Super Eagles repeatedly making and posting videos of their dancing to the song at the ongoing 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast. He said: “I am supporting the Super Eagles because that’s my number one club. Anytime I close my eyes, I just want to sing for them, make people happy and also motivate the Super Eagles. However, I cannot start chasing after them. It’s not me that will ask them to invite me when they are having an event. What is driving me is patriotism, the ‘One Nigeria’ thing. It gives me joy to see the players vibing to the song. It lifts their spirits more and boost their morale. The song is motivational, which is why I did it in the first place. “I did the song when players like Jay Jay Okocha and Kanu Nwankwo were beginning to fade because of age and people started referring to them as tired legs. The complaints were irritating as people were talking anyhow. “It will give me joy if the Super Eagles can carry me along whenever they are going to tournaments. I do all I do because of love for my country and the Super Eagles. That’s why I go to the studio and do songs for them. It is not as if anyone is sponsoring me. Though people are requesting for new songs for the Super Eagles, it is not easy because it is all about money to record in the studio and do videos.” He added: “I can’t reach out to the players, but it’s the NFF that is supposed to reach out to me. But let it not be as if I did not make effort. When I first made this song, I sent it to the Glass House. I called the then Marketing Manager of blessed memory now, but he even threatened me and was asking why I used the Super Eagles to sing without permission. That was in 2002, the year I released the song. I had approached the Glass House through the Marketing Manager for then to use the song as their official Super Eagles song, but the man was mad at me. “He was saying how dare I use the brand of the Super Eagles without permission from them. I won’t say it is the NFF generally. I am not sure he did that on their behalf. He was the person in particular that took the decision, but he didn’t deter me. I continued to disturb him, so he got so angry and said he was going to sue me before the then Sports Writers Secretary, Joe Abu, now intervened. So, I moved on and stopped calling him. “I felt I should actually be applauded for composing the song. I saw that everyone accepted the music, so I moved on. With my little exposure, I know that I can’t be sued because I am a patriotic Nigerian that composed a song for the national team. The painful thing is that if I didn’t go there, they would say I didn’t contact them. But I did. I actually sent the music, sent a letter and even called. What made me not to bother going there again or to where the Eagles are playing is that I have not been invited. I can’t go to where I am not invited. My own is that they should continue to perform well. “I am into real estate now, but I still want to do a bit of entertainment, including music and movies because that is where I belong. You know, I did the Super Eagles Carry Go song with all my strength. I spent a lot of money on it. It was even difficult getting the materials used in the song. So, when I didn’t get what I was supposed to get to re-establish myself, I just moved on, hoping one day I will get money to do more songs. Though I got promises, but they didn’t materialize. If those promises materialized, I would have gotten more money. “Entertainment costs money. That’s why I am doing other things to get money. I am looking forward to one day just receiving a phone call from the NFF or the government for reward for my patriotism. He revealed that 100 slots were released to Ebonyi hawkers in Anambra State and what Oguzo did was to bring in 60 fake names and allowed only 40 from Anambra to be part of the money. He made N120 million from the one of Anambra alone. I'm not even talking about the deductions he made from lists of other cities. It's odd and undeserving to reply a common antagonist, a propagandist known by all and sundry as a cheap and serial blackmailer who has lost his bearing, relevance and direction as a human being but who has submitted to the projections and desires of his stomach and pretentious lifestyle. Herein are the facts which are verifiable as a summary and overview of the empowerment programme as it was carried with verifiable facts and empirical evidences. He alleged, that the slots meant for Anambra state was 100 and I, Chief Oguzor Offia Nwali singlehandedly hijacked 60 slots out of 100 in perversion for my personal interest. I hereby refute this claim in all sincerity as they are not true and was just a fingerment of the writer's imagination. How could I have smuggled in 60 names in a program that was organized by a 7 committee members led by a serving commissioner for Trade and Investment who acted as the Chairman of the committee which equally had a Secretary? And I was neither the committee chairman or Secretary, neither was the 1bn mapped out for the programme paid into my ministry account or an account that i am signatory to. I am a member of the committee with Commissioners For Youths and Sports, Aviation, Agriculture,and the National President FON YOUTH MOVEMENT. How could I have waved my magic wand and make these men and women give only me 60 slots out of the 100 slots meant for Anambra State? What power do I have to exert such a influence on them and propel the committee to do such an outrageous thing without resistance? Why is none of the committee members complaining knowing how I outsmarted them and brought in fake 60 names according to the noisemaker called NCN? Why am I NCN nightmare? Even as a lame man, can you be a Chairman of a committee and someone else will take over such a number without rabbles or resistance from you knowing fully well that you will be held accountable should the need arises. Secondly, The committee chairman Chief Elechi Nnanna Elechi and Secretary Hon Elijah Okwu-Udu and members of committee didn't give a single individual power to select names of the beneficiaries. It was a thorough process that involved every team member, screening was done and only those who passed the screening exercise that were selected. There has been allegations of cases where community leaders across the various states who submitted names to the committee, went back and forcefully asked the beneficiaries to remit back 1.5m to them. No single beneficiary has alleged that I or anyone acting on my behalf or the committee asked him or her to remit back money to them and I challenge anyone who has such claims to please come forward and make it public. Also, join me and ask the lunatic whether he was the one who assisted me to get the passports of those I used or his cohorts. Those who benefited from the empowerment came in person, trained and not through any passports as the known blackmailer alleged. And if any of you knows NCN very well, you will know he doesnt hide evidence if he has it. I therefore strongly challenge him if he is man enough to publish the evidence he has against me. He who alleges must prove. Waiting for me to sue him before he can furnish the evidence he has against me is rather pedestrian. He went further to allege that I looted the money and used it to buy Hilux and exotic cars and get myself security aides. When did I start using the said Hilux? When did the disbursement started? It is on record that the same NCN had alleged two years ago that i cannot go to my village without armed security men, where did the armed policemen came from then? did i just start using security personnels few months ago? every security personnels that goes with me today has always been there from years back. This empirical evidence buttress the fact that he is a man who speaks from both sides of his mouth depending which table there is food for him to eat as a man who is controlled by his stomach. This alone is enough for you to know that a slandarer was actually at work in perpetuating this act of monstrous conspiracy against my person. According to him, I diverted 500m out of 1bn and there is no other place that this complain is going on except that his Anambra State? 500m 😆 🤣 Maybe he think he is retiring his anyi ga eme ya failed project. Having said the above, the truth I believe is bare and very lucid herein it's only but a myopic being like him that may believe such a cooked up story without any iota of evidence to substantiate same. Find below, the SUVs procured by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for all the medical doctors working in the General Hospitals across the State, to ensure they are at work seamlessly and respond to duty calls. This in no small measure will give them good confidence and assurance of their welfare, having been employed by the State Government. It is meant as well, to ensure that they do not convert the hospital ambulances to their private cars. All the SUVs have been paid for and all of them delivered. NGO, Odoziobodo Youth Assembly Splashes New Year Largesse On Ebonyians (Photos) A Non-Governmental Organization, Odoziobodo Youth Assembly has given some largesse to Ebonyi indigenes with cash, rice, wrappers and other valuables to commemorate the festive season and new year. The items shared included; a 5kg rice, cash, wrappers among other valuables. The NGO, founded by Hon. Mark Onu Chopper, a Chieftain of the People's Democratic Party, PDP who also doubles as the National President Of Odoziobodo Youth Assembly, who spoke on the New year get-together of the Assembly which also happens to be a yearly programme, shortly after distributing the materials, said, " the beneficiaries were carefully selected across the teeming youth and women population. It has been our annual project to share New Year largesse to individuals we find worthy across the length and breadth of the State to ensure they enjoy the festive season and at least have something to enjoy the new year, no matter how little. Doyin Okupe Resigns From Labour Party, Gives Reason |#Politicsnigeria Doyin Okupe, former head of the Labour Party’s presidential campaign, has resigned from the party, citing ideological differences that emerged after the 2023 elections. In a letter made available on Monday, Okupe explained that his lifelong alignment with right-wing and liberal democratic principles clashed with Labour’s left-of-center ideology, making continued membership untenable. The letter reads, “I submit herewith my letter of resignation from the Labour Party with effect from today. You will recall that our flagbearer, Mr Peter Obi, myself and others left the PDP abruptly and had to look for a Special Purpose Vehicle in which to contest the 2023 Presidential Elections. “The Labour Party, your good self, and other members of your executives provided us with this veritable platform with no burdensomeness whatsoever and for which we were extremely grateful. “We did contest the election on the platform of the Labour Party and lost. This makes it exceedingly difficult for me to continue to stay in the Labour Party which is ideologically rooted in the left of the center. “I have been a rightist and a Liberal Democrat all my entire life. Hon. Linus Abba Okorie has emerged Labour Party Flag Bearer For Ebonyi South Senatorial Election. In a statement obtained by our correspondent which gave details of the names of the Electoral Committee and signed by the National Chairman of the party, Julus Abure, the primary election was held at Amuro/Mgbom Community Primary School field, Afikpo- the headquarters of the Senatorial District. Announcing the result, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Comrade Ayo Olorufemi said Hon. Linus Abaa Okorie got 40 votes while Nwabueze Ogo Eze got 10 votes and Fred Okereke got 7 votes. The total valid votes according to the Electoral Committee stood at 57 while there were no invalid votes. The primary election monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is to pick candidates of political parties ahead the February 3rd rerun election following the decision of the former Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi to accept an appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic under the Tinubu administration. Recall that Hon. Okorie came second in the said Senatorial District election held in Ebonyi South on February 25th, 2023 general elections.
