safarifarms: The breeds you mentioned up here are unique in their own way, the difference is just that large white & duroc can reach 380kg body weight if well managed, whereas land race could barely achieve 250kg, but they are good mothers and tend to give birth to more litters. Camborough is a mixed breed, they have the capacity of achieving massive body weight too and they tend to reproduce well enough. 1 Like |

safarifarms: I store the milk in a drum, and i ensure they drink all within a week, reason being that, the more it stays, it intoxicates the weaners that they start rolling and tumbling on the floor. 2 Likes |

safarifarms: Well, the feeds formula goes a long way in determining how fast your pigs gets to table size. I give my pigs combination of ultima starter, pkc & milk waste if i want a rapid growth. There is no point leaving my pigs to get to 200kg for slaughter, the highest i've gone was 180kg, it was way too big that the farm hand was now scared of entering the pen, i had to let it off. 1 Like |

Fatbam005: Its not advisable to buy a pig you dont know its history, the buyer could be selling due to the antecedent of that pig, it could be due to still birth often, low number of production of such pig or could have gotten pregnant as a result of in-breeding. If you arent convinced, then you will be taking a big risk. Either way, goodluck. 3 Likes |

A seemingly forgotten prisoner, was suddenly remembered to interpret the dreams of Pharaoh. Phew, Pharaoh a known dictator bequeath upon him the honour of leading his government (Prime Minister) out of impending doom into prosperity. Joseph became a leader of leaders even in a foreign land. God's touch in the affairs of men. (MIRACLE) |

Jamestown123: Pkc alone is good, but it will impede their growth maximally. Pkc serves as source of protein only, pigs too need balanced diet. You can get barley as source of energy, or you mix your pkc with a bag of starter from time to time, this will make their growth so rapid. 3 Likes |

ChineduObinna: We feed the pigs atleast 50kg of pkc & pig concentrate daily, thats because we have over 100 pigs at the moment. I feed them for different purposes, for fattening and for reproduction. For fattening, we feed the pigs well for say a year and few months, by then, they would have attained atleast 90kg of body weight, then we sell 'em off. For reproduction, we are mostly careful on how to ration their food in order to avoid fat. Fat hinders pigs from reproducing good numbers of litters. And as for the market, there are always standby buyers, they weigh the pigs, and then buy in whole. We dont know what they do with the body parts thereafter. 5 Likes |

MadamExcellency: Hence the only place where it could be rectified is Abuja immigration office. I dont know about you, but i can tell you categorically that there are some of us that our father doesnt know our date of birth by heart. I'm in my late thirties, my father hasnt called me once to wish me happy birthday, not because he wouldnt want to, but because he doesnt even know. Thats why mothers are always celebrated. I dont have to convince you, but the truth is that it was committed in error. 1 Like |

Travel / Difficulties Renewing An International Passport by wizzie001(m): 2:19pm On Jan 03, 2023 |
Good day nairalanders, permit me to post here to get timely and accurate solution to the issues at hand. My wife's passport is going to expire next month, it is during the course of renewal that she got to know that the year of birth on her passport contradict that of her National Identification number (NIN). The problem started years back when she was going to travel, her dad was the one who facilitated the passport, he filled in 1989 instead of 1990. All her certificates hitherto, right from elementary school carries the latter, same as the NIN. Now, i've made contact in several State passport offices to fasttrack this procedure all to no avail, i was told it can only be done in Abuja office and should budget about 200k for the process. Has anyone been in this dicey situation, how were you able to resolve it? I will appreciate all response & assistance i can get regarding this. Its quite an urgent situation please. |

stanvesco: If you have any fan milk industry around you, then its easier...it goes for a price before, but as at today its free. Just approach one and tell them you need milk waste. Ofcourse flies always want to perch and all, just keep it covered. The milk waste ferment after it stays very long, that still doesnt stop it from serving its nutritional value. 2 Likes |

omoluabi87: You are so very correct, we had an emergency construction to do in one of the growers pen, so we had to evacuate them and took them to other grower's room, as a result of the bully & stress encountered, you needed to see them the following day, they have lost so much weight. Bottom line, stress impedes pig's growth. |

Emmacy001: Its highly lucrative my brother, considering pigs gives birth to quite a good number of piglets, some farmers manage their pigs such that they give birth thrice a year, interesting right? And pigs hardly fall sick, just deworm them often and give them vitamin, they have a way of rewarding their owners trust me! 4 Likes |

Emmacy001: Considering you are starting at Ogun state, i wouldnt know how much renting a pig pen goes for over there. But in Ibadan here, its just 15k per/pen yearly rent. However, if you have a land or your compund is quite spacious, you can always construct few pens with bamboo to cut cost. ●Cost of rent=15k/year. ●You can either decide to get one or two weaners depending on your budget (1 pure breed weaner @30k ●Feeds that can last atleast 6months @60k ●Total @#105k |

Its been a while i update this thread, i will make it an effort to always try and update from time to time. My primary aim of creating the thread is basically to educate and also show Nigerians how quickly one can become a millionaire simply by having a pig farm. Knowledge they say is power, but information in this life is very vital, it create a path to wealth. In my earlier thread, i stated how i started with some few piglets and renting 4 room pen. Today, i have about 30 room pen strictly for pigs, and over 200 pigs/weaners. I will be updating about the management, challenges and gains accrued hitherto, i will back it up with some pictures from time to time too. I will also be willing to assist as many who are interested in starting a pig farm (preferably within Ibadan, because you will need to be on ground to monitor the progress) with how to lease a land to start a farm, or renting pig pens with good water system, where and how to formulate quality feeds, and most importantly how to get good pure breeds pigs for your farm. 5 Likes |

Where is your location? Sincerely, all the breeds are good considering the feeds formula and care they receive. However, pig farmers always prefer large white and landrace the most. Duroc is more expensive than these breeds. |

Tamahog: Give them 9months at most, they are ready to mate... though some farmers dont have that patience, when a pig attains the body size they desire at 6month, some farmers do mate them... so it depends. Some do carry out artificial insemination, but we dont have need for that due to availability of male adult pigs on the farm. |
