The billions own by the Catholic church is not controlled by one man and his family
Systemic ownership. It's okay for a leader to own. To maintain order, it's okay if one heads but manages in Fear of God. We know how Africans can get diabolic and begin to kill one another if it's a board. So, to make such scenarios the Leader or the Son can lead. But the poor should be carried along properly

Your comments only show that you're frustrated and have been misguided in thoughts.

Do you have any idea of the much he has given to people, even to those that are not his church members?

I will advise you to refuse joining the attackers of men of GOD even if you have a grievance against them.

Study the Bible and do what it says.

God bless your soul.

Bishop Oyedepo may have his flaws, but this teaching is rich. He's saying money isn't everything in this sermon.
I don't want to look into his personal life cos the money he has can't buy him salvation or save him from death. And the same thing is for his critics. Money can't buy them life!

If I didn't listen to the whole video, I d think you v sense. See your head like N100 local chicken 🐔 egg.
Watch the video and see he's only saying money can't buy life!
Jesus taught us wisdom is justified by her children. Even Solomon with his concubines preached truth. However my own truth will be evaluated by actions and not volume.of words. For the Kingdom of God is not one of plentiful words but of alignment with our Father, His will, His dictates, His actions and interests

If you start a Church today, I am not sure of your religion though, there is no chance anywhere, that everyone will agree with whatever good things you do to ever be sufficient.
I understand your perspective about what you put up here, but look, if you are a Christian, when Christ was around on Earth in person, was He able to solve everyone's problem? He could, but He could solve those He was sent to, but even, He didn't solve them all.
Before you attack individuals or organization, have you made findings to see if they are actually contributing anything positively to lives of people and the society at large? Do you think people gather every week just because their lives are not getting better or because they were hoodwinked?
Do you know how scholarships being given out on a yearly basis? How much reliefs are being made available to places?

I am not attacking your post or your person, but if you want to go that path, that's on you altogether.
If you start a Church today or hold a leadership position, that's when you'll know you can't meet all needs or solve all men's problems but just some. The easier thing to do is always to criticize.
Thank you. Allow me have my opinion

I am not sure I understood everything you wrote, but I want to respond because you mentioned the Catholic Church. Yes, I am a proud Catholic and the Church has been going through a lot of changes for centuries now.

From one parish to another, the way the Catholic Church is run differs. In Lagos Archdiocese, Archbishop Adewale Martins has set the template. In spite that, parish priests still determine how to run their parishes.

In my parish, we have St. Vincent De Paul Society. Those people give scholarship, pay school fees, pay hospital bills and help people to finance their businesses. And my parish priest finances the tertiary education of many altar servers.

When active people like myself kick that these activities should be published so that the world would see it, my parish priest would argue that the church wasn't established over 2000 years ago to prove a point to man, but to spread the Gospel of Christ through evangelism and works of charity.

So, my friend, the Catholic Church is huge. Don't use what you see in one parish as your yardstick to judge because it's not easy to successfully run the world's oldest international religious organization and keep it going.
I started in the Catholic. The Catholic has very healthy system to a good extent. I honor the ministry and teachings of Father Cooker. I didn't catigate the Catholic. Go and read what I posted again patiently

Is like you lack adequate brain capacity to understand what he is talking about before you wrote all these gibberish. Listen to it, again and again! He is saying, money is nonsense if you look for it in ungodly manners by killing your wife or someone in the hope of getting money. He is emphasizing that true riches can come from God if you patiently follow God and waits for him to bless you because money is no evil, but LOVE OF MONEY (to do every ungodly things to get it) is evil. That's is summary of what he said, Mr man!
My perspective.

Same logic applies. Since it's nonsense, then followers in deep need should easily get such access to meet needs.

Get away from me with your shallow understanding

Go and ask. Even ordinary market places, when followers follow oga for 3 years, they get settled. Thesedays we have men whom people would be under for up to a decade and remain stagnated all throughout such a time span and we think it's healthy

The Catholic church sits on billions. Many Christian organizations now sit on billions. God promises us as Christians wealth. My only pain is why would one be a follower for a decade and look like a skunk. You need emergency financial aid of 500k for medical surgery for your loved one, then stories begins to enter and a while family may have committed there for a decade. When people then ask for help, speeches like you're coming to church because if financial aid not for God. Even after spending up to a decade in followersip and service. Then I begin to wonder if we have blood in us or iron

I dare to be challenged, did someone not say they had a mandate to make people at liberty almost thirty years plus ago.

And when one mebtors followers for 10-20-30 years then the fruits should be the judge

And when followers of 10-40 years are yet in terrible conditions in large swarths, what right do we have to claim fullfilment ?
Christianity EtcRe: Money Is Nonsense - Bishop David Oyedepo by Wodu89: 10:48am On Sep 16, 2023
And when people advocate assistance for the needy under you, you begin to lash out all sorts of talks. Easy to say things when one isn't in the position of their followers

If census were taken from pastor's with very poor financial welfare who live miserably, then we shouldn't say such without first providing opportunities to build their life financially one way or the other. Tl

That's pastor's not even talking members.

When I was a baby Christian I listened to the speech and words of ministers, as I began to deepen root in Christ,I noticed I'm to listen to the actions of any minister and not their talks. No one would taint themselves in their speeches. Hypocrisy everywhere

When we rather spend billions on chairs and buildings and neglect issues like financial assistance for education and health, we know that the god of this world has grabbed us on one side.

If talk isn't backed by frank active actions, then talk is hypocrisy

All of the whole financial rascality that poor people don't get financial aid is to keep them at a level that they will never rise to challenge number one position and that of offspring. So followers are in a slaves position not just momentarily, but generationally.

And under the guise of our tainted.image, we neglect the sheep, their pains and their cry's. Your reward is in Heaven indeed

Few people would have heard of the name A.Y. I'm not talking about the ace comedian Ayo makun of the popular A.Y show. But I'm talking about the unsong hero of the Nigeria indigenous rap Industry. A.Y was the first Nigerian modern day artist to rap fluently in Yoruba language he is such a talented artist that does is music with no stress. though he sang most of his song from U.K but all his track had a touch of Nigeria life in it.

A.Y started yoruba rap music long even before the discovery of late Rap maestro Dagrin.. But Ay seam to have vanish into thing Air. A comprehensive search of A.Y music on the Internet does not yield any meaningful result except for a rough/unclear recording of his music video track Hard to survive which was uploaded by an anonymous on YouTube. Despite the poor quality of the music video which I believe the person that uploaded copied it from like several different source before uploading it online which gave it a poor visual. quality, the video has received more than 8000 views.

Anyone that knows where A.Y is or have a direct link to him should please help us tell him to come back, Nigeria music industry is now doing fine, he should put some of his previous songs on YouTube for us to see and appreciate his talent

To be honest, living in Nigeria has become increasingly scary with each passing day. The unpredictability of daily life is alarming, as things can change dramatically. It is unfortunate that our leaders are not doing anything positively to the present situation. Recently, I had a distressing experience while commuting to my office in Ogun state, which left me astounded.

I was riding in a commercial bus when we were abruptly halted at a police checkpoint, despite the fact that the driver was not on high speed. On the opposite lane, there was a young man in his car who was also instructed to stop, which he obediently did. Surprisingly, one of the police officers began shouting at the young man, demanding that he exit his vehicle. Although the man may have appeared suspicious, looking like yahoo boy, the officers proceeded to harass him, forcibly removing him from his car and subjecting him to physical assault in front of numerous onlookers, despite heavy traffic on both lanes. Furthermore, they fired warning shots into the air, thereby endangering bystanders and intensifying the fear and chaos in the situation. I just look at the those animals in police uniform if they are really normal human being. There oga IG is there in Abuja not addressing these issues of constant harassment and extortion by their boys. Even if the guy was a suspect it don't warrant show of shame I saw that day.

These officers were stationed on the road to address issues related to cult activities. However, the question arises: is this kind of behavior considered normal or acceptable? I would prefer to live in a saner country whether I make or don't make enough to live than live in abundance where I can be harrass for no just course. To be factual Nigeria is turning completely to jungle.

when someone commits suicide in the western world - the question is always How ? why ? he or she has it all why take their own life?

let me tell u about someone everyone in Nigeria knows who took his own life

UCHENNA OKAFOR - he was one of the great pillars of the Nigerian Super Eagles 🦅 that played at the USA’94 team- he lived in Dallas- he was a naturalized US citizen - his kids are US citizens and his wife is… so sad he never left a note or bothered to tell anyone his secret pains which you - writing here on nairaland may never believe or accept - Yes, if he was happy with his life, he wouldn’t take it, YET by your assumptions here, since he lives in Almighty America and his kids are US citizens- it is a feast of hallelujah in his heart, right? WRONG!!!

Lastly the Nigerian man who killed himself in Finland recently who is from Edo State was NOT poor- he even built himself a house in Finland- luckily he left a video and stated how empty he has become in life because the ex wife took his kids away from him - something that simple (to you because u don’t see that impact but u think money is everything) made him commit suicide

My brother - who told you I haven’t seen poverty ? I went to school in Nigeria and I know what it means to be hungry at lunch break and you will walk past the kiosks and see your friends buy guguru and ekpa and u can’t buy for myself - and will trek home with other classmates under the hot sun after school so i get it and i can understand what real poverty is.

but according to the Maslowian hierarchy of needs - as it applies to self actualization - which is at the apex of everyone’s needs in life, money takes a back seat because the craze for financial acquisitions is not to watch a stock pile of currency but to use it to create love, satisfying family needs and community integration and staying abroad is never a way to achieve that self actualization with family

99% of diasporans cry at least once a week - they may never accept it or want to show like they are tough - but I am one and i know a few who talk to me honestly - they cry because they see their years of life taken away by time with them living in economic exile instead of enjoying their lives back home with their friends and family they were born together and grew up with and the environment that is natural to their very existence

if you have never lived overseas for at least 5 straight years without going to Nigeria - you will never understand what i am typing here - it is meant for those who have travelled this path.. and I have been on this path now for almost 30 years so i can authoritatively tell you what and how it is

i will end it here - God bless you and thanks for your time , bye!
Your posts are educative and therapeutic In a way. That some are arguing against your position may make you feel it's just getting negative vibes, bit I beg to differ. So, don't be in a hurry to say bye. You don't know who and whom would stumble on this thread as years goes back and would have to lean upon your wisdom to make transformational decision

Stick in inspite of the back and forth arguements. Society should interact but try to find a healthy posture and maintain communications
