Business / What Business Can I Invest In With N10,000 Or Less? by wolajumoke(m): 7:30am On Jun 07, 2020 |
In many of the groups I belong to, I see people asking what business they can do with an amount ranging from 50k to 500k. If you are a stay at home mum, pastor, or you are just interested in an additional source of income that will give you freedom with your time. There are several profitable businesses you can do from the comfort of your room. In this write-up, I will focus just on just one which I have tried with an amazing result for over 10 years. I have helped several other people set up the same business out of which many are smiling to the bank during the lockdown as the business can be done easily from your room. The beauty of this business is that you can do it from any location. It doesn't even require you to be a graduate or spend huge money trying to get an office before you can start. Here is why it is a profitable business. ========= 1. Thousands of people are registering their business and schools on a daily basis at corporate affairs. Over 80% of them will need to get people to know about this business. 2. They won't mind paying someone like you if you can help them get people to know about their business at an affordable price. Here is where you come in ========= You can help them set up high converting landing page or website that will talk about their business and also help them create an advert on social media to reach people across Nigeria at an affordable fee. To learn website design will cost nothing less than 50k. And to learn digital marketing is around 50k to 150k from a good institution. However, if you have access to the data to browse the internet and a laptop. You can acquire these skill at a ridiculous price. With N10,000, you can build an e-commerce website like Jumia and kings for people. Corporate websites for businesses and schools. You can build for real estate and several other businesses. All for just N10,000. For Facebook advertising, you can learn from a digital marketing guru who will break down all the process step by step in a.simple manner for just N5,000. Yes, you read that right. Whichever one you are interested in be it website design or Facebook advertising, you can do it any time of the day from any location and get paid. And the average website cost between N50,000 to N100,000. Your goal is to get like 5 client per month which is very possible if you put in the effort. Career / Dear Undergraduate And Job Seeker by wolajumoke(m): 6:11pm On Jan 15, 2019 |
Dear undergraduate and job seeker, I see many job seekers ranting in online groups about how HR managers are wicked and companies are refusing to offer them job. Some are even defending the fact that companies ought to train them with necessary skills and hire them LISTEN Companies exist to make profit. They aren't charity organizations. Except for those who have CSR and even at that, there is limit to how many people they can hire. The world of work has changed and keeps evolving. To be relevant, you need to develop competence, capacity and character to be able to get ahead. GUESS WHAT? There are millions of graduates out there, among them are those who studied same course you studied from different institutions. Apart from those who are returning from foreign universities to compete with you here in Nigeria. The competition is high and increasing on daily basis. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX Yes, not every graduate would be cut out to start a business, however, everyone need the attitude of an entrepreneur to succeed. The same way, graduates who are entrepreneur think, plan and strategize to start their own business despite the tough economy, you also need to plan your career path and start massive execution. You can't continue to approach job search the same way others do. You need to do things differently to get a better result. RESULT ACCELERATION Here are some tips that can help you get a faster result. Be clear about what you want from your career. Identify your skill sets and the ones you don't currently have that you need. Identify organizations that align with your career goal and research about their needs. Instead of approaching them begging for job, approach them by offering solution. If you can help any organization increase their income or reduce their cost, you are guaranteed to get a job. Instead of submitting CVs randomly, why not reach out to decision makers with what you can offer through online platform and strategic events? How about offering your skill set directly to small businesses? CASE STUDY Last week, I interacted with two guys. One is an undergraduate who is at home due to the ASUU strike. The other one is a graduate of mathematics who has been looking for job to no avail. However, the undergraduate decided to enroll for website development so he can have a skill he can use to add value to businesses while in school and increase his chances after graduation. The second who is a graduate is currently undergoing mobile app development training at Tech24 at Ikeja. After which he would be linked with tech companies for job and online platforms he can bid for foreign jobs. Testimony abound as regard those who i have worked with that have moved from job seeker to getting job and those who have become employer of labour. CONCLUSION No one owes you a job. It is your responsibility to increase your value to help organizations and businesses. Life does not respond to self pity! Invest in yourself. Get a career coach Acquire skills in ICT, selling, solving complex problem and so on. Invest in yourself the same way entrepreneurs raise money to invest in their business. Nairaland / General / Dont Be Like Michael by wolajumoke(m): 5:25pm On Feb 16, 2017 |
Michael started a business. He didn't bother about putting a structure in place as long as he is making money. As such, he felt registration is NOT necessary. He decided to come up with a name and started using it for his business. Few years down the line, he needed more funds to expand. The bank couldn't help because the business isn't registered and he doesn't have a detailed record of his daily transaction. Investors were not able to partner with him because he has no business plan. Tax officials are running after him for lack of compliance. Sales started declining because he has no knowledge of how to use technology for growth. He had to forfeit the company name down the line because someone else has already registered it. People find it difficult to remember his brand because he felt branding is a waste of money. He has no lawyer because he felt such is only needed by big companies. He couldn't manage the staff efficiently. He decided to reduce price but sales didn't increase. He later found out the business location is a disadvantage because he didn't conduct market research. Customers started complaining about their experience due to poor customer relationship whenever he is not at the office. As you can see, making money is not enough, having a structure is very important ------------------------------------------------------ In what way are you getting it wrong like Michael? Nairaland / General / Be Intentional by wolajumoke(m): 1:50pm On Feb 03, 2017 |
While I was on campus, many of the students confined themselves to the school environment with the hope that life begins after school. I knew I am not interested in looking for job after school, so I intentionally started attending every seminar I could on business, career, finance, strategic management both within and outside Ogun State. I invested the little I had on acquiring knowledge I read as many books I could lay my hands on, test run my business ideas on campus instead of waiting till after graduation. I started website development and training, bulks sms, laptop sales and accessories. I intentionally joined NIFES because I knew it will give me the needed exposure in leadership, training and spiritual growth. The fellowship gave me the opportunity to train and provide leadership for about six institutions while on campus. Immediately after NYSC, I got two employment offer which I turned down because my plan is to set-up an ICT firm that will provide solution to the loophole I saw while doing my computer science degree in school. I got an office at Ikeja immediately after my NYSC and kick the ground running. Today, the business is thriving even during recession Here is my point - Life doesn't begin after school. The best time to prepare for life after school is while you are in school - Life doesn't give you what you deserve but what you demand. If you are already out of school. Get clarity about your life and intentionally start creating the future you want - Get trained. It will simplify your effort and multiply your result For those interested in understanding business process and learning branding, customer service, HR, business law, accounting, funding, sales, technology for business, market research and business plan Let me know 2 Likes |

As a business strategist, I interact with several entrepreneurs both startups and establish businesses. I discovered many are still lacking in one area or the other. Many are still lost on how to 1. Leverage technology for growth 2. Accessing funds 3. Accounting and book-keeping 4. Branding 5. Writing business plan 6. Market research 7. Delivering exceptional customer experience 8. Sales and marketing 9. HR 10. Business law 11. Business structuring As a way of providing help, I decided to gather 11 speakers who are experienced with a track record in their respective field to handle the above-mentioned areas to help entrepreneurs build a business that is PROFITABLE, ADDS VALUE, STRUCTURED AND SUSTAINABLE. Speakers include Senior Manager in MTN, Accountant from PWC, ICAN and international financial fellow etc I know learning all this could be expensive However, attendance fee is affordable Reserve your seat here https:///forms/Sj4Q3JtYyEvMxCur1 NB: If you are outside Lagos or Nigeria, you can get the VIDEO recording of all the session |
Nairaland / General / Why You Should Register Your Business by wolajumoke(m): 3:15pm On Mar 03, 2016 |
1. Imagine spending time and effort to grow your business and suddenly you were told you can no longer trade with the name because someone else has registered it? 2. Imagine you have the opportunity to supply large quantity of your product to a multinational company or render a service to the government agency and you were not able to get the contract just because your business is NOT registered? 3. Imagine getting someone who is interested in investing in your business but decided not to just because you are NOT registered. BENEFITS OF REGISTERING YOUR BUSINESS 1. Customers and clients, especially people you have never worked with before, need assurance that you are a legitimate business. 2. You need to provide proof that your business is properly registered with the state to open a corporate account with the bank. 3. Romance / Marriage Is Not For Everybody - By Wale Olajumoke by wolajumoke(m): 10:39am On Feb 23, 2016 |
Every Saturdays, you see wedding ceremonies across the globe. So much fun and excitement. This is very good and lovely. However, it is really alarming to see the rate of divorce all around us My heart bleeds when I listen to the news or read newspaper in a day coming across the list of couples filing for divorce every day. The truth is, God want people to marry and enjoy their home but MARRIAGE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE Especially those who fall into the following category 1. Intolerance Marriage is all about tolerating your partner. There is no partner that doesn’t have a weakness. In fact, those that people see as heroes have more weakness than others. You must identify such weakness and ask if you can cope with it before tying the knot. If you can’t tolerate your partner’s weakness, chances are the marriage won't last. If you can't tolerate people's inadequacy, you may see yourself moving from one breakup to another. If you can't forgive, marriage may not be for you 2. Feminism God that created marriage chose the man as the head. If you believe you shouldn't submit to your husband. Then marriage is not for you. If you can't submit, you can as well remain single because such mindset will breed friction and will eventually end in divorce. You are meant to compliment each other not to compete 3. Competition If you always want to compete with your friends and keep acquiring luxury especially when you don’t have the financial capacity, you will put your marriage under unnecessary pressure. Marriage requires contentment to survive. Marriage is not for those who are always using other people's lifestyle to measure theirs. 4. Lack of flexibility There are certain behaviours and attitudes you have to change as part of the requirement for your marriage to work. You may be the type that doesn’t do house chores or do certain things that are of necessity. If you must marry, you need to have a rethink 5. Lack of self-control Whatever you cannot solve as a single, marriage won’t solve it either. Deal with your weakness such as uncontrollable anger, sexual perversion, drug abuse and so on before considering marriage. Emotional intelligence is a must for anyone considering marriage. It also requires high level of maturity spiritually, financially, physically, phychologically and other areas. Get over your past and any form of fear or inferiority complex before getting married. Nairaland / General / Corruption! How I Hate Thee by wolajumoke(m): 7:09am On Dec 01, 2015 |
Despite the fact that we know you are evil Yet we left our doors wide open to you at any time ’t’ You have eaten deep into the nook & crannies of our beloved nation In government, you are there Among the youths, you are popular Even our religious leaders enjoy your company Many who claim to fight you ended up becoming your friend Many accuse you openly Only to hear later, that they dine & wine with you You have many names, yet you are always the same I know your secret. You thrive where there is greed, selfishness & lack of fear of God Where people regard loyalty above the truth It is easy to point fingers to people in power as your relatives Forgetting that they came from us & many of us will act even worse If we were to be in their shoe. Only very few can beat their chest & say they have nothing to do with you (I hope am one of them) If only our government will lead us with sincerity & provide basic needs of the common man If only the religious leaders will call a spade - a spade irrespective of status or who is offended If only our society will begin to frown at injustice & stop celebrating people who acquire riches with fraud or unknown means If only families will chose to train their children the way they should go, frown at immoral behavior & lead by example If only our school system will teach character & not just vocabulary & calculations If only YOU & I, will make up our mind to agree with our conscience to stand for what is right, irrespective of who is doing wrong If only we will be contended with what we have & see success as something beyond just making money If only we can chose to stand alone instead of joining them that are already corrupt If only we can choose to damn the temporary pain we may have for upholding the truth If only you will agree with me that both of us can overcome corruption if we chose, Then it won't be long before things will change for better. God bless you, God bless Nigeria Originally composed by Wale Olajumoke http://waleolajumoke.org/business/36-economy/337-corruption-how-i-hate-thee |
