According to the facts filed in support of the divorce petition, which constitute the grounds upon which the petition was anchored, Adediwura Alleged that her husband (Respondent) had abandoned the matrimonial home since January 1st 2021, leaving the petitioner and the only child in the matrimonial home.

The respondent has been adamant in his resistance to efforts to reconcile the two parties by their Counsel, A.O Agbola, Esq of Cheakley Chambers and Olusola Idowu (SAN) of Olusola Idowu & Co. for petitioner and Respondent respectively, Adediwura alleges.

Canada will lift travel restrictions for fully vaccinated US citizens and permanent residents from Monday.

They will, however, still need to test negative for COVID-19 within three days of their arrival and also need to submit details on an app developed by the Canadian government.

If the “domestic epidemiologic situation remains favourable,” Canada also plans to open its borders to all travellers fully vaccinated with a jab approved by the Canadian government from Sept. 7.

Nairaland / General / After 18 Years Of Service, Messi Leaves Barcelona; Arsenal, PSG, Man C by Worldtopnewsng2: 7:43pm On Aug 05, 2021
The reality is that several levels of the club were aware of the situation and spent the majority of Thursday afternoon exploring how best to communicate the result of conversations held at a lunch meeting earlier in the day.

These conversations took place between the club and Messi’s representatives, but the take-home point that whilst the meeting was cordial, Messi was going to play his football elsewhere from the 2021/22 season.

Barcelona’s outlook now changes radically with the urgency to reduce their salary bill somewhat lower.

Being able to plan for the 2022/23 season becomes child-play compared to dealing with the fallout of losing Messi, especially after Laporta essentially ran for election on a platform of keeping the club icon in Barcelona.

#TwitterBan: We Are Monitoring Closely Repression In Nigeria, Says Commonwealth

Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC has stated that the Commonwealth is “closely monitoring developments around suspension of Twitter, and allegations of repression of the rights to

Respect for Commonwealth values is essential for citizens to trust Commonwealth institutions. The Commonwealth ought to take a strong stand for protection of human rights, transparency and the rule of law in Nigeria, principles which are fundamental to the Commonwealth’s integrity, functioning and effectiveness of its institutions.”

“The suspension of Twitter in Nigeria demonstrates the authorities’ determination to suppress all forms of peaceful dissent by the Nigerian people. There are well-founded fears that the human rights situation in Nigeria will deteriorate even further if urgent action is not taken to address it.”

“According to our information, the Nigerian government on Friday 4 June, 2021 unlawfully ordered all internet service providers to suspend Twitter in Nigeria. The suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria followed the deletion of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweets, which according to Twitter ‘violated the Twitter Rules.’”

Nairaland / General / Winners’ Chapel Sacked Me For Failing To Generate Enough Income – Pastor by Worldtopnewsng2: 6:34pm On Jul 18, 2021
“A few minutes later, we were [each] issued a letter. I opened the content of the letter to see what was there and I saw that it was a sack letter.

“So, I called the management the next day to find out what happened since I wasn’t involved in any dubious activity or evil act. I was told by the management that the church doesn’t operate at a loss.

“They also told me that the total income that is being generated from my station should be able to cater for my welfare and accommodation, so as a result of low income, I’m hereby dismissed.”

It was learnt that the church was working on a statement for an official response.

A source within the church, however, told Punch that the sacking of the pastors had nothing to do with money; rather, the source said, it involved membership growth.

Tinubu, Yayi, Ndume, Alimikhena Among Senators Who Voted Against Electronic Transmission Of Election Results

The former governor of Kano State is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on INEC which recommended the controversial Section 53 (3) in the Electoral Act (amendment) Bill 2021 which empowers INEC to transmit election results electronically. Ironically, Gaya voted against the recommendation of the panel he chaired.

Ovie Omo-Agege (Delta Central)

The lawmaker is the current Deputy President of the Senate. He was accused of allegedly leading some thugs to the Senate Chamber in the 8th National Assembly to steal the Maze, which is the symbol of democracy in Nigeria.

Peter Nwaoboshi (Delta North)

The Senator recently defected from the PDP to join the APC in what many people believed was to seek refuge in the ruling party and escape justice in the multibillion-naira corruption allegations hanging on his neck at the Niger Delta Development Commission. Nwaoboshi is incidentally the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, which is saddled with the responsibility of carrying out oversight functions on the intervention agency

Nairaland / General / Di Maria Helps Argentina Beat Brazil To Win First Title Since 1993 by Worldtopnewsng2: 3:33am On Jul 11, 2021
Argentina have followed the exact same gameplan for the entire tournament: score early and defend their lead with tough, physical defense and a whole lot of heart. And that is what the Albiceleste did when Brazil threw everything forward to start the second half.

Richarlison had a goal disallowed and then a huge chance that required a brilliant save from Emi Martínez in what was a 15-minute siege from the Seleção. After managing to weather the early storm, Argentina began retreating deeper and deeper in their own half and started wasting time with some rough tackles that took Brazil out of their rhythm.

Then Messi had a giant chance one-on-one with Ederson after a fantastic through ball by Rodrigo De Paul but missed it, and Martínez needed to make a monster save to stop Gabigol from scoring the equalizer.

According to him, there was panic among the parents when they heard that the bandits threatened to starve the students if the items were not provided.

These came to the fore on Thursday as it was reported learnt that the bandits contacted the school management on Wednesday evening and specified the quantity of foodstuffs they wanted.

Madugu, however, said the school did not have all the items demanded because it had exhausted almost all their foodstuffs ahead of the school’s closure this week.

But the father of one of the abducted students said the school had appealed to parents to donate money that would be used to buy the foodstuffs.

The man stated, “The school has asked us to donate any amount we can afford. It is not compulsory but many parents are eager to pay because the bandits threatened to starve the children. There are fears among parents when they heard that the hoodlums threatened to starve the students.”

Nairaland / General / Weapons Paraded By DSS Not Mine, I Use Traditional Powers – Igboho by Worldtopnewsng2: 10:50am On Jul 03, 2021
He said the failure of the President Muhammadu Buhari, to protect the South-West people and the people of the entire southern Nigerian from criminals, including killer herdsmen, was what prompted him to rise up to defend his people.

He said he had never killed anybody during his struggles as he did not chase law-abiding herders from the South-West.

Igboho blamed his travail on the alleged move to Fulanise the country, saying he was seen as a threat to the Fulani agenda to take over the country.

He said, “Nigerians and the international community should please be aware that the security operatives who invaded my home either planted the ammunition being paraded in the media in my home or harvested them from their armoury to frame me. The arms paraded are not mine; they are the government’s magic. I protect myself with traditional powers, not with guns.

“The Federal Government framed me up and the sequence of events brings the truth bare. Why would the security agents invade my home at night and destroy my surveillance cameras before carrying out their operation if they didn’t have an ulterior motive?
