⚡Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told Sputnik that he plans to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"I will definitely go to Sochi, and I was invited to SPIEF, I think I will go there," Szijjarto said.

Szijjarto told Sputnik that he would attend the upcoming 2024 Atomexpo International Forum, which would take place in Russia’s Sochi from March 25-26. SPIEF 2024 will be held from June 5-8 in Russia's St. Petersburg.

⚡South Korea and the United States have started the annual Freedom Shield exercise.

It is the first large exercise since North Korea scrapped the 2018 inter-Korean military accord and the number of field exercises will be doubled compared to previous years.

There is a possibility that the United States will deploy strategic assets like aircraft carriers or strategic bombers to the Korean Peninsula during the exercises.

There will be a focus on practical field maneuvers and live-firing exercises so there will be quite a bit of military movements on the KP during March.

South Korean officials have warned that there is a high possibility that North Korea will conduct aggressive provocations during the exercises and before the upcoming elections that will be held in April.

⚡Russia will cut oil production by almost half a million barrels per day in the second quarter of 2024, the government said Sunday, as part of a move to boost prices.

The plan, agreed with Russia’s energy allies in the OPEC+ group, comes on top of previous cuts to both oil output and exports as some of the world’s largest energy producers drive to push up market rates amid economic uncertainty.

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Sunday that Moscow will reduce its output by 350,000 barrels a day (bpd) in April, by 400,000 bpd in May and then 471,000 bpd in June.

“In order to maintain market stability, these additional cuts will be gradually restored depending on market conditions,” after the end of the second quarter, Novak said in a statement published by the Russian government.

⚡The Italian government intends to recall its SAMP/T medium-range air defense system from Slovakia, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has said.

"I have received notification from the Italian government that the Italian air defense system they lent us for a year will be withdrawn from Slovakia because they need it elsewhere," he said.

Fico stressed that the previous Slovak government gave Ukraine a functioning Russian S-300 air defense system. Then US-made Patriot air defense systems appeared in Slovakia "for a moment," "but they also left, and now the Italian ones will leave as well."

"And I ask: God, who will guard our nuclear power plants and other strategic targets?" the prime minister said.

⚡The Governor of the Leningrad region has reported that aerial targets have been intercepted over the Gulf of Finland and the coast in the Lomonosov district.

According to the head of the region, there were no casualties or damage. Shortly before that restrictions were introduced at the Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg, which have later been lifted.

Tonight the AFU have already tried to attack St. Petersburg with drones: a residential building in the northeastern part of the city was damaged.
