CultureRe: Some Ridiculous Things Nigerians believe are Possible by write2obi(m): 5:00pm On Aug 09, 2014
pimplucious: *an odd looking telephone number can cause instant death if it calls and you pick

*human beings can transform to animals (kwara police arrested a goat some time ago)

*human beings can fly

*eating mango and garri can cause death

*eating kola nut can insulate one from the scourge of Ebola

*drinking salt and water of bathing with a saline solution prevents ebola

*saying things like "it might rain" can actually make it rain

*a human being can birth a horse! goat! etc

*a women can carry a pregnancy for years

*eating some leaves and having some incisions can stop knives and knives from cutting you

*having a cat at home takes away diseases from your family.

The list is endless.

Have you ever wondered why these silly beliefs are so pervasive and prevalent ?
Op some of them do really happens

PoliticsMy Opinion About Ebola And Cure. by write2obi(op): 11:01pm On Aug 07, 2014
Our entitlement mentality is appalling. The US owes us
nothing. Same folks who scream neo colonialism when
US interferes in our affairs are outraged cos the US
won't send test drug. You can't eat your cake and
have it. Freedom is earned.

How can we blame the West or give the issue a racist
slant just to justify our ineptitude? Ebola is our
disease. It attacked and killed us before. Why didn't
we do anything about it in the past only to play victim
now? Why should the big western pharmaceutical be
more concerned about our problem than us? Granted
we lacked the tools or technical know how to tackle
the problem, why didn't West Africa nations contribute
and contract the research to big pharmaceutical with
the knowhow? After all we don't shy away from
contracting PR duties to the West. If you ask me we
should be grateful the drug used on the US citizens is
showing promise. It means there is hope. And maybe
the enormous scale of the outbreak will force various
big pharmaceutical firms to throw resources at the
issue if only because there are more willing benevolent
sponsors and government, plus there is potential profit
to be made now.
