Kazikazi: Tanzania is not that too big.we have 31 regions with all those councils ( halmashauri) and some decision are made there. Again,Tanzanian poor provinces are way better than Kenya's . Turkana can be used as a case study. So why should we waste more money by having those parliaments all over the country?
Turkana is better than Kigoma. Kigoma is going to see a tarmac road for the first time this year.
vankelvin: Let me educate you BRT is not just about the buses Unlike Matatu which operates just like any other public vehicle on the road BRT is a system with the following features
[b]1) Dedicated lanes and alignment. 2) Off-board fare collection. 3) Intersection treatment. 4) Platform-level boarding.
Are you blind? I was comparing between BRT buses and Matatu. I didn't compare BRT system with the Matatu. By the way, what do you have down there in Ghana?
vankelvin: Give us a break there are dirty matatu's and there are clean matatu's as well. The point here is both matatu's and Danfo fall under the same classification
vankelvin: Bottom line they are normal public transport buses just like Danfo You cannot compare this to a BRT system
What's special in BRT buses? If you ask me I'll tell you that BRT buses are nonsense without the special lanes. Put a BRT bus and a Matatu in the same condition and you will see Matatu outperforming BRT buses hands down.
samorobo: You really wish Nigerians would troop to your zoo. If you really want to see Nigerians, taje a trip to Karen and go say hello to them as their official Gardner.
Tell that your people who are having unforgettable moments in a matatu.
68816419: Ati failed terribly, you must be high on some luo drugs .The Lagos BRT achieved socio-economic, environmental and public health success, feasibility, as well as cost-effectiveness by starting small in line with the capacity of public and private actors involved. Within the first one hundred days, the BRT led system had carried over 9.7 million passengers. same goes to DAR BRT systems In TZ alone, the advent of BRT systems has lead to so many accompanying PROJECTS
samorobo: You sound like you are making excuses for your failures. No sane country will allow the crazy matatu run around hawking death and chaos. You matatu is just like or danfo, very uncivilized and chaotic, not to mention disorganized.
Your zoo is a failure so I am not surprised.
Matatu is attracting several Nigerians to Nairobi. They only come to enjoy the beauty and comfort of riding in a Matatu.
It's only a madman that will compare Matatu to Danfo. Matatu is a culture embedded in the Kenyan way of life. Matatu is an industry which employs millions, the award is given yearly for the best designed Matatu, best pimped Matatu and also the best drawned.
There's no way danfo can get to even 1% of matatus level.
Matatu is more comfortable than BRT. Matatu everyone will get a seat except a conductor. In Matatu there's no sharing of seats like in your Okada. Youths like the liveliness of Matatu. BRT is dull.
68816419: to this 1-2: Lagos BRT systems ( the only systems currently been integrated with a light rail systems and ferry transports ) and 3-4: Dar BRT systems
Both Dar and Lagos BRT systems failed terribly. There is no inspiration that one can get from them. Kenyan media outlet used to compare Tanzanian BRT with local transport but since they realized its failure, they stopped comparing Tanzanian BRT to Matatu.
Matatu is a culture is a culture celebrated by both the young and the old, men and ladies. Rich and poor. This industry employs hundreds of youths and contributes a lot to the economy.
68816419: Kenya BRT will never get built, Kenyans must learn from Nigeria and TZ on how to build functional BRT and light rail systems , Oshodi-Abule-Egba Bus Rapid Transit Lane is a 13.65 km lane only took just 2 years to be completed while BRT scheme on a dedicated 22km lane, between CMS and Mile 12, on Ikorodu Road took just 3 years to be built even with the high traffics
That BRT will not survive Matatu heat even if it's completed today. Do you know the number of Nigerians that come to Kenya only to experience the feeling of Matatu?
