@op may Allah increase u in knowledge n aCcpt dis as an act of ibadat. It is rather unfortunate that we choose 2 cloud our sense of judgment wit extremism rather than clear comprehension n careful attention 2 detailed explanations and asking sensible questions where n when necessary. And dis cud b attributed 2 d sheer hatred we hold in our minds towards ppl of different faith n religious background which is evidently most common amongst d xtians n muslims. Wot d op iterated r d stance of Islam itself on dis unholy blood shed perpetrated by sme individuals who bliv dey r fighting a just cause. Bt, wot I reli dnt undrstand is why we choose to attritube the beliefs of a particular faction to the whole. Does this justify in any sense the assumption or conclusion that "the Olumba oluma" faction of the xtian faith portray in perfection what xtianity stands 4 or that the Ombaitse traditional faith justifies what traditional religions signifies? Little wonder, an islamic scholar of blessed memory tried clearing the air on the yard stick upon which our judgments shud b based. In his words, he said, "if you want 2 judge Islam, judge it for what it is (its doctrines with absolute comprehension) and not by the actions or inactions of muslims." Many of us today r either xtians or muslims because we r born of xtian or islamic homes. We believe and act towards ppl of a different faith with as much dexterity as they r looked upon by our household because, it has been imbibed in us from d cradle. How else can 1 explain d mere assumption by d non muslims that, since the B.H r muslims, d unjust killings dey perpetrate r directives of Islam n neva see any sense in any attempts by d the learned muslims 2 mke clear issues on the stance of Islam on this? In this sme Nigeria, we hear stories of pastors performing "juju" as their source of power, commiting adultery in disguise for deliverance, even holding claims 2 jsutify their actions according 2 d scripture. Does it then imply that, since I'm a muslim, I shud conlcude these are wot xtianity as a religion holds? The issue of religion is that which only an unbiased mind can relate to n understand vividly. That u choose 2 castrate muslims because of B.H n label their religion as a blood sucking one only tells of how much understanding u hve of evn ur own religion and the contemporary world of today. . . .If only we'v had the choice frm birth 2 choose where we belong in faith, I reli truely wonder, how many of us today 'll b left lost in the wilderness! . . .Jst ma 1 cent! |

Pope Benedict announces shocking conversion to Islam HOLY SEE – In a shocking press conference Sunday, Pope Benedict XVI revealed to the world that he will be stepping down from the Catholic Church’s highest office. “Through prayer and reflection over the past years,” the world’s holiest man began, “I’ve realized that Allah is the one true God.” Amid clattering camera shutters and roaring reporters, Pope Benedict patiently answered questions, citing traditional Muslim folklore as well as passages from the Qur’an to explain his decision. His session was interrupted only once, when he swiveled South-East to face Mecca, stooped to the ground, and recited the Asr, one of the five daily prayers central to Muslim belief. The startling reversal comes as a shock to many familiar with the Pope’s policies on Islam. “Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached,” the Bishop of the Vatican famously said of Islam in his 2006 lecture Faith, Reason and the University—Memories and Reflections. When asked about the quote, Pope Benedict sighed with good-humored remorse and chuckled quietly to himself: “Yeah I’ve regretted that for some time. But I was young and naïve… I see things much clearer now. Besides, I’ve always kinda liked the thought of having a sword. The Cardinals were a real pain on that one.” When asked whether he would be reverting to his born name, Pope Benedict enthusiastically interjected. “I’ve decided to change my name to Sajjad Sayyid Ratzinger,” His Ex-Holiness explained. “I’m keeping my surname purely for logistical reasons, so my Facebook friends and Twitter followers won’t be confused.” His transition hasn’t been without opposition. Hours after the press conference, a special Fox and Friends segment aired on FOXNEWS, featuring a picture of the Pope photoshopped to include stereotypical Islāmic features, including: a turban in place of his mitre, darkened complexion, black hair, and Arabic letters spelling out an endorsement of Barack Hussein Obama tattooed across his chest. Beneath the picture, the panel discussed the possible involvement of Pope Benedict XVI, 85, in 9/11. The segment’s title, “The Holy Heathen,” emblazoned the lower left corner of the screen. This morning, newspapers nationwide featured an editorial by Bill O’Reilly detailing the parallels between the Pope’s “betrayal of God-loving Christians everywhere” with the “betrayal of the American people and the Constitution by Benedict Arnold, his liberal agenda, and his radical left-wing entourage.” |

Today is Bob Marley's birthday! Many only know him as that rastafarian "marijuana" icon behind the mic who always sings reggae. Here are some amazing facts you probably never knew about Bob Marley; 1.Biracial Heritage Bob Marley was born to a young black woman named Cedella in the village of Nine Mile in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica on February 6, 1945. He was fathered by a man named Norval Sinclair Marley, an older white naval captain for the British military. Even though Cedella and Norval married in 1945, Cedella's family didn't approve of the relationship. After the age of five, Bob never saw his father again, but Norval continued providing for the family financially. Due to his heritage, Bob had a lighter skin color like that of most villagers, and the feeling of being an outcast was a catalyst for his lifelong drive for equality and the triumph of the underdog. 2.Grammy-less Even though Bob Marley is one of the most influential popular musicians in music history and one of the best-selling artists of all time, he never won a single Grammy Award for an individual song or album during his (too brief) lifetime. The Grammys eventually came to their senses 20 years after his death and awarded Bob a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 2001. 3.Coming to America At the age of 21, Bob departed Jamaica with his young wife, Rita Anderson, and headed for Wilmington, Delaware to join his mother. Bob lived in Delaware for seven months. He worked the as a lab assistant at DuPont Chemical, and he toiled during the night shift at the local Chrysler plant. 4.The Wailers Origin In 1964 at the age of 19, Bob found his first taste of musical success with the Jamaican hit single "Simmer Down," The Wailers' first single and Jamaican number one for Studio One. While the band recorded under the name The Wailing Wailers before cutting "Simmer Down," the single led to an impressive Jamaican following, with young Bob fronting the band and paying his best homage to American soul and R&B acts. 5.Assassination Attempt Two days before Bob was scheduled to play a massive, free concert at Kingston's National Heroes Park on December 5, 1976 at the height of political tensions in Jamaica, attackers broke into his home and sprayed gunfire throughout the house. Marley was shot with injuries to the chest and arm, while Bob's wife, Rita, and manager, Don Taylor, were also injured in the attack. Despite every one in his camp begging him not to play the free concert for fear of him being killed, Bob heroically took the stage and performed to an adoring Jamaican crowd. 6.Historic Catalyst for Jamaican Peace Bob played another high-profile Jamaican concert during a time of crippling "political civil war" in April of 1978, when he invited the Prime Minister and President of the People's National Party, Michael Manley, and the Leader of the Jamaica Labour Party, Edward Seaga, to accompany him on stage during the One Love Peace Concert. The bravery and faith displayed by Bob in joining two opposing leaders in the height of violent unrest demonstrated the power of Bob Marley as a far-reaching cultural icon and the undying strength of his music. 7.Marriage and Kids Even though Bob married Rita in 1966 at the age of 21, he fathered many other children with several other women until his death in 1981. He is officially known to have fathered 11 children by seven women (even though he and Rita were married until his passing), but his family had to deal with additional paternity claims even after his death. 8.Bob's Tragic Demise Bob died of cancer caused from melanoma that was originally caused by an injury to his toe from playing his most beloved pastime of soccer. Even when his toe was causing him suffering, Bob refused to quit playing. He was active on the melanoma-stricken toe for several months, and he rebuked a doctor's suggestion of amputating the toe because to do so conflicted with his Rastafarian beliefs. The cancer continued to spread throughout his body. On September 23, 1980, Bob Marley performed his final concert in Pittsburgh, hours after being informed he was suffering from terminal cancer and wouldn't be expected to live more than a few weeks. In the rehearsal for the show, Bob instructed the band to play the little-known Wailers song "I'm Hurting Inside" repeatedly, as he sang the lyrics over and over in earnest devastation. Plenty years today after his demise, Bob Marley still remains an inspirational figure and his legacy of the fight for freedom and peace and love for all, remain ever green in the minds of not just today's youth but this generation as a whole. |

Jst 4 clarity sake pls. Islam as a religion doesn't associate with these ruthless killings going on. It is divinely a peaceful religion. But When people hide under d confers of any religion to perpetrate evil, isn't it rather intellectually moderate to find out the stance of that particular religion on those actions? I profer, we stop being unnecessarily sentimental about our judgements when it involves a faith we dnt belong to and rather seek a better understanding of what it actually entails. Afterol, we have lots of attrocities going on in other places of worship and amongst people of different faiths. Do we then conclude that, they are all teachings of the religions they belong ![]() |
