DangotePikin:Haha, didn't notice. However, all that has been said is true. CU is a very competitive school, but even 180 UTME-scorers that prepare excellently well for the tests and interviews still ace the process. Same with school year, you have to be committed, focused and EXTREMELY hardworking to excel. |
faith2ogesco:Lol! please update if you get invited for an interview . Find sample PST prep materials here http://www.mckinsey.com/careers/join_us/interview_prep |
Truely Dragnet, SHl and Workforce are tough, but the McKinsey Problem Solving Test PST remains the toughest (especially for first takers) of all aptitude tests I have encountered. Firstly, McK only invites 4.0 GPA+ candidates to sit their test. Interestingly, the average pass rate of these tests is around 8% of any given group. One time at Stanford, 400 candidates with 3.5+ (/4) GPAs sat the PST. Of that number only 6 got an offer. One time at CU, 100 took the test and only 1 dude got an offer. Now if that's not tough, I wonder what is. Also bear in mind they've been ranked as the company with the world's toughest recruitment process- ahead of Google, Rollsroyce and Thoughtworks. You could give the PST a shot if you think you're up to it. ![]() |
DatguyTim:Feran14 was probably right when he talked about the ambiguity of jamb cutoffs for engineering courses. Nonetheless, having once been an engineering student there, I can tell you engineering at CU is very competitive. In my class, the average Jamb score was around 230 (the notorious 2009 jamb year). The subsequent set had jamb scores averaging 250 thereabout. It even gets more interesting with WAEC grades. With all those loyola jesuit, kings & Queens college peeps, 4A1s and above is commonplace (for the record CU attracts best waec candidates in most states. In 2010, Lagos' best Waec student enrolled at CU. In 2009, Ogun's best student did. In other news, in 2012, two Loyola alumni led the set of 1200 graduates with CGPAs of 4.89 and 4.88 coming 1st and 2nd respectively). It's quite surprising that even in GSTs that are art-oriented, engineering students typically lead the entire set of over 1500 students with their scores from the e-moodle site. Hope this gives you some heads up ![]() |
DangotePikin:That's typically unlike them. However, I'd recommend you contact a student in the school to follow up for you. He/she could go to the admissions/registry office and make the necessary enquiry and probably obtain a more accessible contact for you. The caveat however is that most CU students are super busy most of the time. Success with that though ![]() |

Here she goes again. I actually started laughing before reading the post. Every article from Naijasinglegirl has a humorous effect to it. |
This article describes what happens when Art meets Science in harmony; a potpourri of brilliance is formed. Thumbs up royver! I read this article in a mellpell, but I have suddenly found time to peruse your other writeups. |

Have mine for 23rd. Please how far (in mins or hours) is Ajah from the test venue? specifically the Peninsula resort in Ajah? |
bobbyod:Please does anyone have any ideas as to what division of KPMG fits an engineering graduate better? Just received a success mail to drop off some documents as well as the form at their office |
Zedric:True, we know. But don't you think that the fact that the top 20 universities in the world by Times Higher Ranking (THE) are also in the Top 25 list by Webometrics might indicate a correlation between excellence in webometrics and actual academic and research excellence? Just so you know, Webometrics also ranked Harvard, MIT and Stanford as the world's top 3 (Just like other more elaborate and respected ranking bodies have done for the 2015 year). |
An important fact from all these lists is that Nigeria's top 5 universities are OAU, UNILAG, UNILORIN, UI and CU. There's therefore the possibility that these universities would also make top 5 list when other academic criteria (research, quality of lecturers, facilities) are used. Its fascinating how the top 5 remain within the range of my predicted list from January 1st https://www.nairaland.com/2071556/nigerian-universities-likely-no.1-januaryFrom CU's ranking progress over the past years (20th (2010) to 1st (2015)), I believe it will be the first to break the Top 1000 list in the world. #TeamCUtho ![]() |
Just got an invite!!. You peeps should start checking your inbox, spam, trash... everywhere! ![]() |
I wonder if any nairalander has been called for interview or attended the program in the past. What are the interview questions like? I have phone interviews within the next 24 hours. |
Elevation:True, I doubt if that is possible. Most CGPA calculations are done with computers and are presented in 3 significant figures. Going by this, she should have a 3.50. I would understand however if the (hating) lecturer gave her a 3.49. Wonder what they gain from such tho. ![]() |
ArcToyin:No, it's the best way to convince an employer that you (as a fresh grad with no experience) are diligent, smart, disciplined and able to remain committed to attaining set goals. Now tell me those qualities are not common to stellar GPA candidates? |
afrika:If you obtained that GPA legitimately, then you should be unperturbed Or are there any red flags? ![]() |
wnycom:You guys shouldn't even bother. The opening is for EU nationals who want to do the VIE program in Nigeria. Thats why your application reads "Unsuccessful" if you indicate that your country of citizenship is Nigeria (You could experiment otherwise by indicating you're from Germany for instance. It'd certainly go through). Hope that clears the confusion. |

Maximus17:It's simple, just believe the one with a reliable source for the 2015 ranking. Here's for this ranking www.4icu.org/ng/ |
dominique:Yeah, I know it was due to that development , I'm just surprised that no other brand has seen any promise in the show. Interestingly the annual interschool College of Science quiz at CU was modeled after the ZAC show . I remember the School of Engineering won in 2011 competition titled "Cerebro". |
ucheheart:You have a point here. However, I'd expect that in the same way sponsors and organizers of competitions (like the Scripps Spelling Bee) use their viewership to generate revenue through adverts, Big Brands like MTN could pick up the initiative and run with it. Virtually every knowledge - savvy undergraduate I knew then was a fan of the show, so viewership wouldn't be a problem. |
LARRYDKING:Same with me.. I had that in mind while applying to CU back then. At the time, they weren't really active compared to their federal university counterparts, so I thought I could give it a shot. Those UI guys were just too good! Even though the 2010 team lost early on in the competition, I think they still had the potential to win. The game against UDS (UDS 690 - UI 620) was a fiasco not because Tolu was oblivious of the answers, but because he was milliseconds slower than the UDS guy |
GrAnDwEeZ:True, and it's disappointing to see how our preferences have changed (now talking of Nigeria) . Debaters and Dragons Den (or so it was called) have stopped airing as well. Hope WWTBAM doesn't go off - since that's the only meaningful, knowledge-adding, semi-collegiate show that's left. |
Though I'm now a graduate, I'm keen on knowing exactly why the Zain African Challenge was stopped entirely. It was a rare academic sensation that would have spurred thousands of Nigerian undergraduates (and graduates) to continuous, versatile learning. After seeing University of Ibadan perform at the premiere edition, I believed again in Nigeria's ability to dominate in higher education in Africa. Sadly, the program never aired after the 2010 edition. I understand Airtel might not have been interested in sponsoring the program but couldn't other well financed MNCs take it up from there considering it was a superb initiative? |
hadizadeezy:Twice every year |
