DatguyTim:Kudos bro! Turned out you validated your ridiculously high utme score *grins*. I'm really proud of you bro. Also glad you're are applying to mech. |
kosb:haha, nice twist. Never knew kosb was female. Guess i'm all the more impressed. Atlas we're unto the final lap in this waiting game. Let's see how the week turns out. |
ControlX:To say I *wowed* them might be taking things too far . Nonetheless, twas a one-of-a-kind experience. Must applaud the ability of those interviewers to remain emotionless regardless of what the candidate is saying. Their follow-up questions were the real deal. Guess everyone's advice here sufficed for me in that room. For those (albeit not many) that are still scheduled, if you're from a non-business background, better have a good case to justify your transition. Shout out to all my team mates, *Saytolz*and the rest . You guys are the best!! Success to everyone!! |
saytolz:Lol, Sending you a PM shortly. Other May 21st peeps please show up oh!! |
kosb:Lol! This guy sha . Nice scores bro nd to think you were nominated by Cam. . Thanks for the advice and Success ahead bro, will keep you posted !! |
kosb:oh really? Was wondering if they could give such opportunity (guess it wouldnt be a bad idea to kill 2 birds with one stone :-D). Wow, nice. Mine's coming up next week (could use some advice and prayers from you oh:-D). About IELTS, i'm just thankful. Got scores over the weekend S-8 L-8 W-7.5 R-7. Overall= 7.5. You? Also applied for commonwealth shared. Only came close to reserve candidate for sheffield Hallam. Btw, you got an offer from Cam.? |
Covenant University is recruiting for a variety of roles within her Strategic Business Unit (SBU). Follow the link for more details http://covenantuniversity.edu.ng/Media/Banner-Assemblies/Homepage/Notifications/Covenant-University-Job-Vacancies#.VU6JqkhCc2I |
stepo707:For writing I used a pencil for Task 1 but I realized I was slow with it and time wasn't on my side, so I used a biro for task 2. Caveat: With a biro, please get a draft of your ideas before writing. You can only write directly on the provided sheet if you're confident that you would make minimal mistakes or have thoroughly rehearsed. Success!! |
Finally my IELTS scores just came in Listening: 8.0 Reading: 7.0 Writing: 7.5 Speaking: 8.0 Overall: 7.5 Very thankful to God first and then this forum . Kudos to @Whyna and his crew ![]() |
kosb:Serious? Appears we have more in common than I thought. I also applied for the ESD partnership awards. Nd you're unto Pwc as well, lol! Should pm you soonest. Btw had mine in Lag. Ielts on April 25th. |
Humblega:Well the first place to start would be IELTS' own practice materials like stepo707 said. However, I have since found IELTSbuddy.com to be an invaluable site for last minute preparation. I found the writing practices there very useful. |

Any May 21st peeps? |
SopranoCoder:Best advice, no. Simply because you'd have a hard time fitting in with other candidates who are more corporately dressed. Moreover, you are likely to be turned back from the interview hall (that's if you're able to sit the CUSAS in the first instance) if your shorts arent satisfactorily descent. If I were you, i'd rather come in full corporate. Why would you risk all the effort and time invested so far over a pair of jean shorts (or is it chinos now?) |
SopranoCoder:Sorry for the late reply. Yeah, typically WAEC counts but only to an extent. WAEC grades are used mainly to ascertain that you meet the necessary requirements for your course. The number of "A1s" candidates have might only come in when there are too many smart/overqualified candidates for a limited number of spaces and WAEC or JAMB grades become the basis for elimination (alongside superb interviews of course). It's a fairly similar practice at top universities in the UK (For instance Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial & UCL request for A*A*A* conditions in some high school subjects, for applicants applying to their most competitive university programs) |
The very first photo almost left me in tears. Inspiring posts OP. |
SopranoCoder:I wouldnt sweat it if I were you. 269 is a good score for even the most competitive programs at CU (you should only worry if you didnt earn the score). I'd advise you to ace your CUSAS and interviews to consolidate your chances. That said, computer science is one of CU's core strengths and arguably in the top 3 in Nigeria, second only after FUTA, so expect to see higher scores. Success! |
kinibigdeal:Oh thanks. I want to believe my LGI would be transparent on this one . Thanks again bro!! |
kinibigdeal:Thanks for your reply. This very response has provided quite some relief. Just to clarify what you said, in the event that I fill the query, will I still be paid? |
I was wondering if any serving/ex nairalander has missed their clearance day before. How did you resolve it? Can it been done by proxy? What are the implications for my pop day? Can I do it at a later date (say 2 to 3 days after)? Any responses will be very helpful. |
Barbie11:lol! Looks like you used a time machine from 2005 . Things have changed miss...#CUroCKS |
kosb:Abi oh, what course did you apply for? Taken IELTS? Me Durham, Renewable Energy. |
Congrats guys! Wonder if there are any Chevening peeps in the house ![]() |
DangotePikin:yeah, same here. I was given a form with provison for my academic and pastoral referees. My home cell coordinator was my pastoral referee tho |
DoroBen:From what I know about open-ended interview questions, there are no right/wrong answers. However, there are good and bad logical deductions. Yours would certainly pull it off. Nice one!! |
axfix:The funny thing is that most of the people complaining about CU's regimented lifestyle are on the outside of the system. Most hebronites are already enlightened to know the difference between regimentation and queer subservience. We know all of the strict measures imposed are directed at shaping us to take the reins in an already derelict society with fast decaying values. The only people who refuse to agree objectively that CU grads are doing exceptionally great in society are those that have all facial organs closed. #Fact |
At the just concluded Global Catalyst Cancer Summit held at Harvard Medical School, the Covenant University Vice Chancellor, Professor C.K. Ayo has positioned Covenant University as a key partner in the application of ICT to cancer care, research and education in Africa. He spoke as a guest speaker amongst several other high-caliber speakers from global institutions around the world. He was the only representative from any Nigerian University to speak at the conference. http://www.globalhealthcatalystevents.org/#!speakers/cfvg

Phemmy99:Lol! wonder why some peeps just choose to remain pessimistic. Don't mind the guy jare.. |
Typically, [Tier 1 Universities] Cambridge>Oxford (Oxbridge)>>> [Tier 2 Universities] Imperial College London >University College London> London School of Economics, LSE for humanities only >Edinburgh>> [Tier 2.5 Universities ] Warwick> St. Andrews > Bristol > BathAlthough, your course of study and overall quality of your application would determine which you're eligible to apply to. Btw, I understand your point about the discrepancies between "colleges" and "universities" in the UK, however Imperial and UCL are just as good as any "universities" you might be considering. PS: Imperial has been ranked joint 2nd place with Cambridge in QS rankings this year. UCL has been ranked joint 5th with Oxford in QS rankings also. MIT is first, Harvard is 3rd |
Appears she was rejected from Harvard in real life https://twitter.com/mollymcgaan |
youngswagx:Previously it wasnt. However, with the premium on CU in recent times, I doubt if that's still possible. Before, all you had to do was to just purchase the form from school. I think you should call Admissions or the Registry to find out. |
DatguyTim:Putting my suspicions aside (seriously 301 ). With the new post UME, I think any score of 40/60 and above is safe. Just keep in mind that Mech. is very competitive and you should expect to see higher CUSAS scores. |

But surprisingly, it turned out one of my best interviews so far ( cos my confidence level was soo on point). I answered all the questions articulately and we laughed most of the time. So my advice, jst relax and ride with them
And way is convenant uni doing dere? #fallacy
