MrMaestro: Not opinion, not fantasy, not hateful tribalistic comments. Give me hard, and factual proof with sources , as to how exactly any country split from Nigeria will be better than Nigeria. Its a very simple question. I want answers.
Let's recap,
1. Nigeria has Africa's Largest GDP: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_African_countries_by_GDP_(nominal)
2. Nigeria has the largest amount of internet users: http://answersafrica.com/africa-internet-usage-statistics.html
3. Nigeria has the second largest film industry in the world: http://fortune.com/2015/06/24/nollywood-movie-industry/
4. Nigeria has the largest music industry in africa (I don't even need to cite this. http://www.africanbusinesscentral.com/2016/10/24/the-boom-in-africas-music-industry-continues/)
5. Nigerians own 2 of the top 3 spot of richest men in Africa (everyone else in top 5 is white): https://www.forbes.com/africa-billionaires/list/#tab:overall
So again, i'm open to discussion. Give me hard, and factual proof with sources, how a spilt country would be better than Nigeria. Its a very simple question. Answer the question below Don't derail, or change the subject, just answer the question. We will not have Herdsmen killing people in cold blood without justice. I.e killing will reduce, justice will be for all. We will not have policy makers considering their region There will be equity No one will drag us back in terms of development There will be holistic and free minded approach to the need of the people. I.e seaports and airport Employment won't be by region but by your ability to deliver |

ItsMeAboki: You are apparently irredeemably mentally lazy; why go to Ghana when you even have ready made examples here in Nigeria; haven't you heard of abandoned properties; how many of your blodas got back their houses from their cousins in the SS after the war?
As I have tried to explain to you over and over again; a government can always choose to make laws to suit itself; ranging from selectively putting heavy taxes on foreign (Igbo) owned properties to outright confiscation out of national interest - and nothing will happen, some may even try going to court; ECOWAS, UN etc and only end up wasting several years of their time in vain - that is the kind of reality awaits some of the evictees should it ever happen - shey you now understand? I don't think I should continue with you pot calling kettle black. To your claim, all I have to say is 'Till it happen'. |

ItsMeAboki: Educated illiterate, did they leave with their immovable properties? Learn to use your brain before you type; though I wouldn't be surprised if not much is left after the ill effects of the powder you ppl peddle to develop other ppl's land. Like I said, there are many options opened to a government concerning properties owned by aliens. Nice, I have gotten what I want from you. They left with their properties and the immovable properties are still in Nigeria. My dear, ask around, you will be surprise to note that Houses own by Ghanaians in Nigeria still belong to them. I can show you many. Ghanians as human went back to Ghana and their properties in Nigeria still remain. It is not uncommon for you to hear down south that this house is own by a Ghanian nor is it hard to see Ghanaians down south. |
Politics › Re: Igbo Professionals Call For National Referendum - Guardian by xelly: 5:05am On Jun 30, 2017 |
ItsMeAboki: Nonsense, they should concentrate on organising a referendum for themselves since they are the ones truly fighting to exit the country. As for citizens right to property and residency in other countries; well they are being very naive and quite stupid; perhaps they have forgotten some recent examples such as Ghana must go in the 80s and vice versa, expulsion of Indians by Uganda under Idi Amin, Nigerians being expelled by other African countries e.g Congo, Sierra Leone etc. As for properties, again there several options that could be opened to a govt against properties owned by foreign nationals; ranging from punitive taxation to outright nationalisation. They think they can sit in the diaspora and dictate to a government - lol even if there are laws protecting them, lets see who can enforce them against a determined govt. From the examples you sited, did Ghanaians left with their belongings? Like moveable properties? If yes, that means they have right over their properties. Lazy bone, better go and work and stop looking for property to covert . I paid rent in US to Indian investor, not American, so stop fooling yourself. |

Who is the current minister of power? Has power improved? What's wrong with Nnaji as minister of power?
Who is the coordinating minister of the economy? Where is NOI? The difference between developed world and Nigeria is that developed world use best brain but in Nigeria, we use our relation, associate, friends etc.
Even if they call for restructuring, don't be surprise at the suggestions some people who are enjoying our wealth will make.
As to voting, without been told by NK, I have decided not to vote again. My reasons are
I struggle to get voter's card, struggle to vote assuming it count, for many years I have voted, the elected end up in affluence while the statue quo remains the same.
To convince me to vote, I need to see improved basic amenities. |

For all those talking trash about Biafra, let it be known that the people who divided Nigeria are the Hausas mostly the Muslims. Will it be right if Biafra should have its own court and Biafra law? Let us mind our actions. You don't measure less for others and expect better measure in return. If we want a country called Nigeria, we should work for it and take away every forms of religion from it. Nigeria law will stand and other things will find away to fit in. Sound stupid [s]2) If the FG does not want to help us, then we should help ourselves, we should not be spoon fed [/s] Why then do we need to send IGR to FG? [s]3) If Aba is more industrilised than Kano then Aba should generate more IGR than Kano, dont confuse IGR with federal allocation. [/s] Increase Abia state IGR, Provide basic amenities for the industries to thrive before asking for IGR [s]Imo state federal allocation is higher than that of Ogun state yet Ogun state's IGR is x12 that of Imo state. [/s] How many FG project is allocated to IMO state? I am glad you said 'If FG don't want to help us' meaning you know that they are not helping us. Why then will you suggest we drain our pocket to generate IGR? |
Politics › Re: Low Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) In Southeastern States: A Cause For Alarm by xelly: 9:05pm On Jun 06, 2017 |
davear: Its no news that the Southeastern states has a very low Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) when compared to other regions and the reasons are not far fetched. FG might have its share of blames but we need to look inside, identify our problems and solve them ourselves. The main culprits are: 1) Our leaders 2) Supporters of these leaders (both offline and online Media Crew) 3) Silence of our intellectuals and technocrats Lets discuss these problems at the state level.
Enugu ( 2016 IGR- 14billion) Before Ugwuanyi took over from Sullivan Chime, the IGR of Enugu state between 2013-2014 was 19billion but by 2016-2017 it has dropped to 14billion, while at thesame period the IGR of Ogun state rose from 18billion in 2013-2014 to 72billion by 2016-2017. There is no other person to blame than Ugwuanyi who has failed to attract or develop investment opportunities in Enugu state. Right now Enugu cannot compete with kaduna and kano states in terms of IGR. Funny enough when you highlight these problems online, his media crew, kinsmen and 042 faithfuls will attack you, you can confirm that in Enugu threads/forums.
Anambra ( 2016 IGR- 14billion) When the "light of the nation" posts threads of Obiano signing MOU and commisioning factories, one would think that this state generates an IGR comparable to Lagos but alas it can only generate 14billion which is a slight improvement from 11billion it generated in 2013-2014. The state is blessed with intellects, politicians, billionaires and business men yet it is not industrialized. Anambrarians are quick to argue that the state offers a low-tax-scheme to indegious companies which I cannot verify for now, regardless it does not mean that Kwara state (with all due respect) should generate more we do. The state has the political strenght and population for masive industrialization yet no massive project/scheme is ongoing.
Abia (2016 IGR- 12billion) A trip to abia state, Aba in particular will convince you of the enermous potentials abia state has. The human labour, skills and raw talents are there but unfortunately they are not developed to generate enough income for the state and country. The infrastructural and state government support are not there; the streets and market places are rowdy, roads are bad, no pedestrian sidewalks. Even if the FG has overlooked us, the state government can harness energy from within to spark development and industrilize itself. The past two Orji's have failed in this area, hopefully ikpeazu sees this and work aggresively.
Imo (2016 IGR- 5billion) The situation in Imo state is a classical example of human capital flight "brain drain". Imo state has always lead the way in number of Jamb applicants, one of the top 3 Nigerian states in literacy level, highest number of civil servants as of 2015, top 3 in number of university graduates, but with all these educational and human capital prowess the states IGR is only comparable to taraba state- a northeastern region ravaged by boko haram. Its either the state leaders are siphoning money (through tax leakages) or there are no industial growth in the state. I once saw a thread were an Imolite was boasting that the state has the highest number of hotels in Nigeria (bar Lagos). Maybe if we focus on industries, then the human capital flight which has seen smart imolites leave the state will stop. Unfortunately the problem might continue if Rochas manages to install his candidate in the next gubernatorial elections.
Ebonyi ( 2016 IGR- 2billion) Now thats a whimsical revenue, and to imagine that this state generated 11billion in 2014 makes it look more suspicious. Umahi obviously has some questions to answer with the drastic fall in revenue of his state, while other states were experiencing growths. It even seems like this governor had hired his own media crew to propagate false non-existing half baked projects. They started with an " airconditioned" stadium/event centre, followed by concrete roads (by taking pictures of one road from different angles) and non-existing water projects. Last week a journalist was beaten up for trying to reveal the true state of ebonyi in his facebook profile. To imagine that this state has massive potentials in agricultre and solid mineral developments, one can only wonder what is realy wrong with the present leaders and what the past leaders were doing. This state also has the least literacy rate in southeast yet we cant see any blue print in its educational sector, nor have we heard of any educational related activity from this our salt state
Although southeasterners are quick to argue that there are no "optimally functional ports" in the eastern region but neither are there ports in the northwestern are northcentral regions which has overtaken us in terms of IGR. There are thousand and one setups and projects that does reqiure port proximities (or import-export base commodity) and will still generate massive revenue for the region and more importantly improve our Human Development Index (another topic that will be discussed) Lets look inside and hold our leaders responsible and make them accountable to us.
OAM4J Mynd44 I was thinking a sensible writer would have compared IGR of other state with SE, appointments of other states with SE, number of other states in other regions with SE , government presence in other states with SE. Aba is more industrialised than Kano but what's the monthly allocation for Abia state? |
