Car TalkRe: Saw A Ford F150 SVT Raptor by xerotop(op): 8:03am On Dec 17, 2014
sultaan:
You are getting into an exclusive territory when it comes to full size pick ups Raptor is just made for brute power you can haul if you have to but people just use it to oppress the road and what ever is on it. If you drive a Raptor the fuel economy is not something you have in consideration.
Don't try this

The thing about pulls is the truck with the highest low end torque wins.
An old I6 cherokee might beat some of this trucks because if it gets enough torque to pull at 2000rpm once the tires slip your opponent can't do anything but wait for you to stop so he gets his traction back
You are very right bro. The truck is goin to be for show off and oppresion. Even my regular f150 has only serve weekend purposes like hanging out /church and pleasures.a few long distance trips also like 4 times in d past six months.
As for fueling, it shares same mpg with most vehicles with such engine size.11/15/13 which is 6.2L
Mpg on my f150 is estimated at 13/17. But i get 12+ /16

Car TalkSaw A Ford F150 SVT Raptor by xerotop(op): 10:11pm On Dec 16, 2014
I drive an '05 Ford F150 5.4L triton SOHC which roars cos of my tuned exhaust system.

Two days ago on my way from bauchi to abuja, i saw this wownderful beast/machine black on black in the hazy weather of jos plateau state very early morning.
I was so carried away i could not take pix. Am so sorry for that.

Reason it got my attention so much was that, i have made so much research on the SVT raptor and saved so much pix of it on my fone.but i have never seen one around me.

My intention was to use my 05 f150 for 2 years and buy the 2012/2013 SVT raptor. My f150 is just 6 months old and i feel like throwing away the keys. grin
Has any1 seen this beast lately?

Can d rebuild be done over there?
Usually wagons carry baloon suspension at the rear, does dis have?

CityNG:
Absolutely.
The only reason to deviate is if you've:
1) Made changes to the internals of the engine or
2) If you've sent your oil to a testing lab and they recommend otherwise.
You are very correct sir. As for my engine, no internal changes of any sort.

When i entered the workshop with cartons of oils and the filters,
People where jst looking at me like!
And am sure in their mind they will be wondering
1, is dis guy from space?
2. He even brougth original ford filters
3. Y do people like wasting money?
4. Am sure he ordered for ordinary oil from abroad o. Lolz
5. All dis smal smal boyz sef.

They all now came of their shell to ask.
Where did u get dis oil from?
How much did u buy them.
Wow the oil is so light. Doesnt seem lik oil at all
Can u help get when i need?

I was jst so speechless.
Car TalkRe: Between Mobil 1 Oil And The Regular Oils by xerotop(m): 6:13pm On Oct 09, 2014
Jst serviced my ford f150 with Castrol 5w20 full synthetic oil. I intend rocking it for the next 5000miles. Each 1L bottle cost 2100 naira. Immediately after the service i noticed tremendious increase in acceleration and improved mpg as i did over 100 miles. I actually also changed my fuel filter with Motorcraft filter and motorcraft oil filter.
I strongly think going by manufacturers oil weight specification is the only way to go.

I have my handheld digital tire guage which i bought @ the rate of 4k naira. Whenever i visit the vulganizer, i always insist on them using mine and not the pako guage. At times when he has lots of people waiting for him, i ask him to over fill a little then park somewhere close and deflate to my desired psi with my hand guage.

Nigerians love adventures but wont take d first step forward.
Recreation in nigeria especially in the north could more or less be riskcreation. The security situation is nt friendly. I wldnt want to say we are not ripe for it,but better put, we have degenerated into a state that does not need recreation.

Your upgraded exhaust ; are you using a straight pipe and the cats gutted? Magna flow?
I intend on adding rancho shocks with adjustable settings, crank up the torsion a bit and add shackles and a leaf.
I also intend to add led overboard lights as I might be on the farm late into the evenings.
I intend to add a higher capacity transmission cooler since the truck would be moving heavy stuffs regularly over rough terrain.
I have a lot of plans for the truck... Luckily, I have a friend who owns a garage and I won't mind doing a lot on it personally...
I had thoughts of the f150 Ranch before but the v8 could be too much for wifey... She currently slugs a 1.4l kia Rio.
Most of my plans might change though...
D mods was done b4 i got it frm the us.
Its raised and higher than every other f150 av seen around.
As regards ur wifey driving, my wife does.
And ladies who drive trucks looks very cool. And intimidate men on the road.
Cos u wld be wondering, who is dis woman driving a fearsome mighty truck. So u give them chance to pass.lolzzz

Denn: no comments?
The ford explorer sports trac is a lovely truck if u can take care of it.
Parts might not be readily available except u live in lagos.
But the world is a global village, u can get parts shipped in from the US. A few guyz here can help u procure any parts u want.
Sienna, cityng and a lady here also with username justi4jesu.
Dont expect same price range as a honda civic and toyota camry pencil light. That also goes for fuel consumption as its most likely going to be a 4.0L.
Reviews shows that 2002,2003 & 2004 are problematic. So u might want to go for a higher model.
Also since u want to use for farm purposes, get a 4x4 and not rear wheel drive.
I dont own a sports trac but i own a 5.4L triton SOHC 2005 ford F150 with upgraded exhaust.
AgricultureRe: I Am Running A Poultry At A Loss. I Need Help! Please, Someone Should Reply. by xerotop(m): 5:59am On Aug 26, 2014
Even with 40 birds u shld nt run @ a loss
From all d responses u av gotten, no one has told u to reduce d amount of feed u give. There are feeding schedules for birds.
On the average, 220- 240 birds shld eat 1 bag of 25kg @ peak. Depending on the temperature of the enviroment. Birds dnt eat same ration all year round. At times more at times lower.
So how can u feed 40 birds with 1 bag? For the spp of birds, even if they are vultures.
Ur 40 birds shld be taking about 4kg of feeds daily
Also ur production is way too low. U shld be getting atleast a crate daily. There a few factors u need to check. Bring in a dvm to check ur birds. U need to put in mind that running such a small farm, u need to be detailed about everything and precision shld be ur watchword

GAZZUZZ: For security reasons, don't drive around with a cylinder of liquified petroleum gas in nigeria wired up to your vehicle, a police man might mistake you for a terrorist.
This is very funny. Most people did not get the gist here.
Imagine being stuck in traffic and u turn to your side. What do you see? A car wired to a cylinder? All in the name of using LPG?
If u are in the northern part of nigeria, u will see people jumping out of their windows, leaving their families in the car, running and screaming "bomb bomb bomb".
Pls dont try it. Could lead u into trouble. Might end up being mobbed, or even shot mistakenly.

olalekanba: Can you help ans my question sir?
1. how reliable is BMW
2. I know 535i uses V8 engine, my fear is the fuel consumption
3. what is the resale value considering its V8
4. Can I get a good mechanic for the car in Lagos.
Sorry 4 d belated response.
The 535i e39 is a very reliable car. Only if u give it what it wants. Good maintenance, regular and scheduled service. Parts are available but might not be as cheap as d japs.
If u r looking for fuel economy, that depends on what u need the car for. Long distance? Or regular lagos traffic.
For long distance, u will neva want to drive a 6 cylinder again.
Apapa traffic? U might end up regretting eva buyin it.

Reasale value? Only BMW lovers and freaks can know the value when u want to resell. Not d japs ppl.

Good technician in lagos? Sorry i dont stay in lagos anymore.

Becareful not to give any clown along the road side. If u do? U will wish u neva was able to spell the marque BMW.

Note: careless ppl dont drive BMW.

U are the wrong one here.
Bmw makes v engines. Get ur facts right b4 comin to confuse those who wants to learn.

The V engines in bmw are available in the 3.5L of E39s,4.0L, 4.4L, 4.8l, 5.0l, 6.0l.

They have v8, v10 and v12.

Other are straight and not L like u stated above.

No i have not. Someone told me the xi is faster. Which i doubt.

Emperoh: The guy who briefed me says it is scarce and costs about N700k.
Now i don't know how true that is!!

I hope i don't regret the decision.
But the price was too good to reject.
The fact the owner wanted $6600 initially sought of gave me an idea the repair might have been properly done.
Also, it was not salt water. I for run without looking back cheesy cheesy grin grin
It is 50-50 though
The shaft is not so expensive. Its about 60 to 70k for the front pair.
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by xerotop(m): 5:58pm On Dec 18, 2013
Emperoh: E46. . . . . .can see you know this thing wella cos the XI trim, All wheel drive wasn't done with the E36.
Now, are these things i am hearing about the All wheel drive true?

Sneak Peeks cheesy cheesy
Emperoh: Are u in my mind?

What are the likely issues i should look forward to?

I will share pictures of the car once i confirm payment to Copart

Finally,

I had a scare. Someone warned me against buying the xi trim; All wheel drive.
He says the gear is quite complicated. Not just that, it is said to be scarce and costs about N700k

Can someone letter me more on this?
The E46 xi has the same engine and transmission with d regular rear wheel drive.
Only difference is that the xi drives on shaft which is alil expensive to replace.
The good news: u dont get to replace often cos its does not get broken easily.
I once heard the xi is faster than the rear wheel. Not sure.
But uf dats true, its a plus for u.

I must confess u get mind. Cant venture a flooded BMW.
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by xerotop(m): 8:40am On Nov 14, 2013
yungboss: the e46 has the same engine as the e39, difference would bein the suspension system. The e39 has same aluminum components as the e46, but the set up is similar to its older brother's, the e34. Parts are relatively cheap too. It is weightier than the e46, and the latter feels sportier and more nimble. I have driven extensively the e39 528i
They the same in the books but not in the market.
Why its so? I might not be able to explain. Probably law of demand & supply.

To be practical here, i can tell u the parts of the e39 are far cheaper than E46.

I have E39 engine 2.5l sold for below a 100k and same E46 2.5 still goes for abt 169k
I have also seen 2.8l E39 engine sold for 110k while 2.8l e46 is sold for close to 200k
Same goes for transmission and arms.

If u doubt, take a trip to d market and u will be convinced.
I knw u havean e36. Which shares engine parts with the E46 and E39. Now ask why the E36 components are cheaper.

Nigeria is a Gods own country where what is applicable in other countries might not be here.

I have had the E39 and also 2 E46. So am telling u practicality embeded in experience
Car TalkRe: BMW Owners' Forum by xerotop(m): 6:39pm On Nov 13, 2013
Emperoh: Ok.... so what are your takes on the E39 (2003 5 series)
E39 is one sweet ride that u shld nt miss. Very quiet, sleek, smooth, fuel efficient, rugged and balance ride.
Its parts areso cheap and infact far more cheap than the E46.
When that idles, u will not hear a sound.
The 2003 is near perfection since all d teething probs have been taken care of. Its almost the end of dat generation.

Only downsides are, u get to replace arms often cos of d weight of d car.even d arms are cheap to buy.
Also due to bad roads and potholes, ur head lights becomes shaky and faces downwards in d night. Dats also cheap to fix.
Everything on that car is affordable. U will surely enjoy it.

godssonibk: Please any info on bmw E90 (2006-2007)...I am considering getting one....Either an E90 or Lexus IS250 same year but i have a special desire for the E90...Advice pls
The 06 E90s are not same as the 07s and above.
The 2.5lL was still available for the 06.
Also the 330i. Both were discontinued after 06.
Some and most still share the engine parts with the E46. From 07 onwards, its a diff ball game entirely.
06 e90s are lil less expensive to maintain.

The lexus on the other hand is a toyota. Dont expect same result.
As for maintenance, d lexus will be far more less expensive.
Bmw is all abt passion. Pls dnt compare both car.
One isa car, The other is a machine.
If u dnt av passion for Bmw. Kindly go with the lexus, so u will not regret.

Emperoh: No one has given me an indepth review of the X3?
The first generation X3 comes in 2 vatiants. The 2.5s and the 3.0s
All inline 6 engines.
They share rear suspension with the 325xi and the 3.0xi respectively.
Very classy and beautiful ride but very stiff and harsh.
Parts are crazily expensive cos they few around. No one stocks the parts.
Its also poor on gas which i guess all Xseries are.
Very powerful ride especially the 3.0.
Also poor interior quality. Tends to peel and beak especially the plastics and leather.

Its a BMW, so if u av passion for it, Go for it.
At least u will get ur headturns and d prestige attached to BMWs
