Politics / Re: ICPC Detains Contractor Over Contract Scandal Rocking Tetfund by xperiencelove(m): 5:10am On Jun 06
That was how Tetfund was supposed to build a gigantic administrative block in my alma mater in 2014. An approved project of 1 billion Naira but 700m was deducted (embezzled) upfront and only 300m got to the institution which was mismanaged too because the building built can never be more than 100m including the furnitures in 2014/2015.

Even when she was informed that any tomato paste with the inscription "tomato mix" is a mixture of so many consumables including sugar, she turned a blind eyes.

dhope:

It is a misplaced priority sir. How many houses will government build for people? Our rulers don't just think rightly. When economy is in good shape and the cost of building materials is affordable, everyone(civil & non-civil servant) will build houses comfortably

You mean housing scheme is a misplaced priority? Which developed country do people/civil servant prefer building houses than having a government housing mortgage where you can decide to pay within 35 years. I want to believe you don't know the meaning of housing scheme?
I want to believe you don't know that all federal government civil servants are paying 1% of their gross pay as housing insurance and they can only apply when the houses are available.

When it comes to shelter, government housing scheme is one of the best things that could happen in lifetime of middle/low income earners.

This CBN! Someone will just create a useless department with little to no portfolio just to bring in his/associate's people.
Director, Capacity Development;
Director, Strategy Management; which strategy are they managing?
Director, Financial Markets; what of foodstuffs market?
Director, Other Financial Institutions Supervision; which financial institutions are under "Other" institutions?

It is well.

Ogbuu101:

The soldiers first slapped a salesgirl.
And the phone in question belonged to a civilian who invited the army guys

Without emotions, put yourself in the shoe of the person that was sold a bad brand new phone which they refused to change, make refund or find a common ground at a time when everything is now expensive and salaries remains stagnant. I believe you have seen so many videos of those that has bought bad phones in Ikeja crying profusely.

Though, you are the first person that stated the soldiers first slapped a sales girl, I never heard that from anywhere even from the wife of the complex owner and this still doesn't give them the audacity to invite thugs to beat them to such state when they can resolve the issue amicably in several other ways.

The owner of the shop and his thugs must be brought to book and they should change the bad phone or find a common ground.
Crime / Re: Army Reacts To Attack On Soldiers At Banex Plaza by xperiencelove(m): 10:06pm On May 21
Look at how they surrounded the poor and harmless officers and beat them to pulp. The occupants of the complex should point the shop and give the name of the main perpetrator that alerted tugs to beat the soldiers. But I believe they want to cover him up and let the issue slide.

KingLennon:
Once I pay my tithe and give my offering that's all. To those against tithinq and offerinq, I think you will need to tear Malachi 3:8-10 out of your bible sad

Tithe does not make anybody rich financially. Our forefathers paid all their dues in church yet they died poor. Some children will even postpone their parent burial programme and celebration for ten years just to gather funds. Meanwhile, those parents paid tithe and offerings all their lives.

Any payment made to church is to advance the salvation gospel of the most high God not to make you wealthy.

Interesting.

One thing about this President is that he is BOLD

He goes where no previous leader dared to go.

1. Fuel Subsidy - removed. GEJ folded at the first sign of protest at Ojota.

2. FCT minister - gave it a Southerner

3. Student loan scheme - in the works

4. Coastal road - ongoing

And so on..

But this horrible 0.5 or 0.005% tax on bank transfer his government wants to introduce is too much. We are hearing too of Telecom tax. There's the dreaded Band A electricity palaver on ground.

Excessive taxes are suffocating the people and the economy.

That tax is just for specific businesses and not for individuals.
The businesses are:
GSM service providers and all telecom companies; Internet service providers; Banks and other financial institutions; Insurance companies; and Nigeria stock exchange.
My only concern is these organizations and businesses might fraudulently channel this charges to us. Almost all of them does not like to pay their taxes from their legitimate income but indirectly charging the customers.

The parents has no dime, people raised 315k for them and they took private taxi to the water side, they are very stupid and useless.
Why can't they just take a row/sit in a public bus to transport them?
Again, all their family members can't contribute ordinary 500k, it is well.

If not for Air Peace, one way ticket to the UK would still remain over #2m+; BA was even charging over #3m and Nigeria pessimists castigating Air Peace now would still be defending the foreign airlines why they are charging so high.
Then those nitwits are fond of saying 'tax this', 'tax that' made the fee high... Are those taxes not existing again? Did Air Peace removed those taxes for them?
We Nigerians should just unite and fly Air Peace. Those foreign airlines have made 6 years profit in one years extortion us. Now they don't mind running theirs businesses with no profit for the next two years to frustrate Air Peace.
Business / Re: CBN Sells Dollars To BDCs Below Market Rate At ₦‎1,101/$1 by xperiencelove(m): 3:19pm On Apr 08
clarocuzioo:

Do you even understand what foreign reserve depletion means?
Stop talking like a pessimist as I believe you are not one.
The force of demand and supply is what is controlling Naira vs $ now.

For like one or two weeks ago, demand for $ to import diesel has almost vanished since Dangote started selling his diesel and A1 Aviation fuel and in Naira. This brings down demand for $ a little. We are still awaiting PMS as this will further strengthen our Naira.

Imagine we don't import anything into Nigeria from overseas again, our Naira will almost be on par with $ but we must import one thing or the other.

Then, FG borrows $1.5b to subsidize $ monthly. I and my family enjoy the subsidized $ by FG so much up until the last day but we must not burn down our country for crumbs.

Dollar going down is a welcomed development. Its just unfortunate the CBN is using our foreign reserve to defend the Naira.

We are depleting our foreign reserves.

Tinubu simply returned to Emefiele's policies they criticized.

Wake up from your slumber, FG is not and can never subside $ again no matter who is the president. The lower the demand for $ in the market, the more our Naira will appreciate.
Don't also forget Dangote refineries is selling his products in Naira. Once he starts selling PMS, our currency will appreciate further as the demand for $ to import PMS from overseas will vanished!

Boyewu:
There is always a variation in construction contract as the prices of materials rise in the market. The lead consultant, cost consultant and the contractor will arrive at a percentage of variation to be adopted for every material.
The quality of work should not be affected by this if you are a reputable contractor.

You are trying your best to explain the right thing to someone that is completely dull in addition to pessimism nature. It's going to be an exercise in futility.
Contractors that so many of them have been paid upward years back and they did nothing. The civil servants in the ministry of work are the ones behind these.

Nothing wey you fit do to please Nigerians. A lot of Nigerians have been clamoring for this sort of indigenous act, that prioritizes Nigerians over expatriate employees, yet a Nigerian body is trying to revolt against it.
Soon, you will understand that most Nigerians are pessimist. They derive joy when bad things happen. You will hardly find a good news on Nairaland with at least 10 pages. They lack the right information and they will be gallivanting on their stupidity.
Many of them didn't know so many countries are doing the same one way or the other.
E.G: Some years ago, this same China impose 100% tax levy on any of their football club that sign a foreigner. That is a club that signed a foreigner for $50m will pay same amount as tax. This has made the Chinese football club resolved to using their home grown players. China was the one doing what Saudi League is doing now prior to the taxation because it will affect their economy when they started paying old players including Iniesta amount they couldn't even earn in their prime.

In football world, it's your country first then all other things follows

The rise of Nwabali is the best thing that could happen to him .
You should understand that man is after money. Imagine European top club offer to buy Nwabali. His price tag will be much more than his club entire worth.

7yrs...but they sent a pastor to life for same crime ....

Lagos state criminal law is different from other states in Nigeria.
Rape without remorse is life imprisonment in Lagos, the lucky ones can receive within 20-50years; Kidnapping is life imprisonment or capital punishment in Lagos too while both crime can attract just 3-7years imprisonment in Oyo state. Same way blasphemy is a capital punishment is most northern states which it is a low gravity crime in the south.
