Jobs/VacanciesRe: FIRS To Recruit 1,250 New Staff by Yaasir(m): 4:50pm On Jun 16, 2017
I believe this is a new scheme entirely, though the nomenclature might be similar. This new ones are more like contract staff employed under N-Power but posted to FIRS.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: FIRS To Recruit 1,250 New Staff by Yaasir(m): 1:52pm On Jun 05, 2017
The signing of the budget is not our problem, only that it may cause distraction. Budget of parastatals like firs only requires appropriation. Meanwhile, the appropriation has been done but the national assembly suspended their expenditure frame work. This is a brief outline of how it works: As a revenue generating agency, you are entitle to certain percentage of your collections; in this case firs is entitled to 5%. So, once you submitted your revenue target for the year you already know what due to you in percentage. The usual problem is how that revenue is to be spent. You must show your expenditure framework detailing how you are going to spend your allocation. Giving our culture of corruption, every agency would strive to spend every kobo by creating various expenditure heads. Rather than having surplus at the end of the financial year, many of them would always report losses; meaning that their 5% must be augmented by the federal government. That is why many of them will never complain of non signing of budget because they already know what is due to them. The usual crises is what the money is being spent on. National Assembly too wants a cut of the money since they know that most of the revenue generating agencies would most likely spend everything due to them. I strongly believe it will be resolved this week.
Meanwhile, on the budget stuff, it can not be delayed beyond this month based on S.82 of the constitution. The constitution only allows you spending in default of appropriation for a maximum period of 6 months. Meaning that come 1st of July there will be a total shutdown of government operations. The only thing i dont know is if the 6 months will be counted from January being the recognized commencement period of government financial year or May 6, being the end of the last year budget. All in all, there is little window for long the executive can delay the signing of the budget to avoid total shutdown.

but now that senate has scrapped DPR,NNPC wont that affects those that applied for the job?
It will affect it; in the very least it will delay so many things concerning their recruitment. We should also pray for firs too to conclude on time so that the pressure of cancellation of dpr recruitment will not spill over.

You are right to some extent. There is no interview conducted by both but things are going on. Things are happening somehow. That DPR stuff is another thing entirely. Lets just pray firs will not eventually go the way of dpr.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: FIRS To Recruit 1,250 New Staff by Yaasir(m): 2:09pm On May 26, 2017
This is one recruitment that has proved so many things and people wrong. On a personal note, i dont think the recruitment was meant to be in July. At least i know somebody that was called on the 5th of January this year. For those that claimed the recruitment was meant to be July, why has the test and/or interview not started by now? At least we are less than 5 weeks to July. The same guy can still call the contact to know the stage of the recruitment and when it will be concluded. The truth of the matter is many of their staff know nothing about the recruitment beyond the advert. Except you are dealing with the EDs or boys working around them, you will never get any accurate information. Infact, you get better information from politicians than firs staff. Were other recruitments too (DPR et al) also meant for July? So many things happened that made the recruitment to be unpredictable. So many recruitments that were designed to be "general" recruitment just turned to "strategic hire" along the line. If you want better information, diversify your source (politicians, staff, media etc). Continue to press your button and disturb your contact so as not to be caught unaware. Let nobody tells you nothing is on ground. Do not abuse people with contrary information; no information is 'stupid' at this stage no matter how strange it sounds. The end might just come at anytime that we least expect

You are correct. The guy is not just wrong. This recruitment can't be part of 2016 budget.
The guy is totally wrong. People need to understand how budget works. Budget request for new staff will always come first, even when you are not sure of concluding the recruitment process. Some people actually joined FIRS last year (around April) but for more senior roles and other units. Our own advert was actually meant for "TAX AUDITOR" only. There are other units beyond tax audit. Go through the following links to confirm the breakdown of last year's budget. Note that the bone of contention was actually the budget for new staff.

Hmm... I get your point. Politics...no permanent friends, only permanent interests. Executive is only doing its job by giving the deadline but the Legislature is up to something else with the marching order. Can this be curtailed at all?
It will be extremely difficult if not totally impossible. Even Buhari has been having it tough, talkless of head of parastatals. Even the recruitment, initially FIRS vowed not to honour national assembly list based on PMB directive on recruitment scam. They even had to beg them with more slots in the end. PMB too is avoiding them and at best massaging their ego. They are unable to get money from the revenue generating agencies like in the past because those agencies are hiding under the excuse of TSA. I dont know ho they will source for money but those guys will never do it for free. You can imaging all parastatals being asked to re-present their budget, with emphasis on revenue generating agencies. The good side is its affecting every parastatals not just one or few of them. Everything will be treated in "bulk".
Jobs/VacanciesRe: FIRS To Recruit 1,250 New Staff by Yaasir(m): 12:53pm On May 19, 2017
We cant be talking of 2016 budget in 2017. Lets get something clear at this stage, non approval of budget will only affect capital and incremental items not the recurrent expenditure. That is why we did not hear that FIRS failed to pay salary last year despite the fact that 2016 budget was not approved. If you look at the senators's directive, the emphasis was on stoppage of further spending on capital expenditure items. Therefore, all capital expenditure and incremental items in 2016 budget (in this case recruitment of new staff) will be rolled into 2017 budget since the recurrent part was actually met. Back to the issue, FIRS actually submitted its budget. What is happening is basically politics of money at play. There are somethings that can not be said online for obvious reasons. Take for example, NNPC submitted theirs with the national budget. Why was it not passed but rather asked to be presented again? This is an avenue for the senators to make big money from the revenue generating agencies. Go and find out why firs budget was even turned down in 2016. Recall that there was a time in November last year that i told you firs budget would be approved cos of the meeting in senate president's house. Is it a coincidence that all parastatal did not submit their budget this year up till this moment? PMB warned all parastatals not to bribe national assembly for budget approval. Now that the man is not in town, this is an avenue to roll-back and get as much as they can from the agencies before Mr. President comes bank. Underline their emphasis on all revenue generating agencies (NNPC, FIRS and CBN). Once those agencies are ready to play ball, the budget will be approved within days.

Budget approval postponed till next week for passage.
http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/230383-national-assembly-fails-pass-2017-budget-expiration-2016-budget.html

There may be crises due to non passage of the budget today cos the 2016 budget will officially expire midnight tomorrow without alternative provision for spending. They will have to rectify it by passing the budget at the earliest time possible next week. I hope they will fulfill the promise for the last time cos there is no room for further postponement.

My people,
I want to formally inform you that i have come to the end of my contribution on this thread. This is necessitated by the fact that the reality on ground will run contrary to my comments. I do not want a situation where i will lie outrightly or mislead people with incorrect statement/information. There would also be instances where some people will make big issue out of an honest comment. Simply put, not everybody can manage correct information at this stage. I will be dropping by once in a while to share any information with you but will be limited to publicly available information. I wish those that would make it through the recruitment the very best; the recruitment is finally coming to a dramatic close.I sincerely appreciate the maturity of everybody on this thread and the zeal to help a fellow job seeker. This is the very first thread i would be participating on nairaland thread and its really worth the time and the experience. Goodluck to all of us in our various endeavours. Our paths will always cross either online or real life. Do have a blessed day

Budgets (including firs's) will be passed this week. The recruitment is finally coming to an end in a matter of few weeks (obviously less than a month). So many things have happened behind the scene. The national assembly finally had their way, which really altered many of the permutations. Some will enter based on merits, while others will come in through discretion. It has been a very long wait indeed. May Almighty Allah assist us.

Not at all. We may only get an idea when they eventually submit the list.

Nobody has been contacted. If anybody has contrary information pls share; i also need it too. I decided to take a break from the thread cos there is nothing new at the moment. I believe it is better to keep quiet than to be repeating the same thing everyday. We all need this job. If you contact FIRS the information you will get is "the recruitment is in advance state, people will be called shortly". The only few things i can decipher is
1) nobody has been called
2) they have a list now they are going to work with.
3) there is no issue with their 2017 budget. it will be approved once the whole budget is approved.
4) National assembly has already been given slots. So, there is no way they would block the recruitment. Once they submit their list. everything will commence in earnest. If you know anybody there contact the person cos they are yet to submit their list.

The recruitment has neither been cancelled nor done underground but they are under real pressure. Many people are waiting for the job.

Thank you.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: FIRS To Recruit 1,250 New Staff by Yaasir(m): 11:37pm On Feb 03, 2017
They have not recruited anybody recently. The last official recruitment was June last year, though few of them are yet to resume due to one reason or the other. The recruitment will take longer than expected due to extraneous factors. There will be test. The number of applicants has also been reduced to less than 100k. The test invite will be sent after 2nd level screening, which is geared towards reducing the number further. There is provision for merit and "other considerations". As for their budget, it will take miracle to get the approval before March. Firs committed unpardonable blunders and national assembly is cashing on it to score point.

With the current insinuation about who is more qualified between Obj and Jagaban. Note also that Obj visited him last week. We may likely get the next Aare Ona Kakanfo in a matter of weeks.

BusinessRe: Five Banks Dominate Cbn’s $1.1b Forex Disbursements by Yaasir(m): 7:49am On Jan 27, 2017
CBN sells directly to the BDC operators. The dollar is collected through abcon, the umbrella body for the bdc operators and not through the bank. The bank only process the bid. The list of qualified BDC is sent weekly by the same CBN. In essence, what goes to each bdc is determined by CBN and not commercial bank. So, if there is any disparity the same cbn should take full responsibility.

Do not be discouraged but improve on your competency. Study your English very well, from punctuation to letter writing. Know your current affairs very well. Practice maths small with emphasis on logic. Know how to write reasonable article with limited space. The interview is another thing entirely. Pray hard, practice well and study basic office etiquette. You are good to go.

Thank God that we are all having good news now. Meanwhile, the recruitment is not suspended but move at snail speed. You know why? Firs budget is yet to be approved by Senate as at today; it was only approved by house of rep. It is expected to be approved this week based on the information I snooped. That is what is holding the recruitment all this while. Firs is set for the final /concluding stage of the recruitment. It will be concluded soonest than expected. So, let's keep hope alive and be prayerful.

To the best of my knowledge, promotion was done in December last year. The last communication our contact had with FIRS when we complained that some people had resume was to the effect that offer letter will come out on or before 31st. I strongly believe it may be true cos of the encounter my colleague had with them around 4th of this month. Lets just keep our fingers crossed and scoop for every information. Nothing is impossible in this country but i personally believe the recruitment will never be that long.

the invite will come latest before this month ends. text and email will be sent. they are ensuring a mixture of merit and who recommends you. even if you are recommended, you still have to be qualified. if not they will ask your nominee to recommend another person. this is because of the petition here and there. most of the people to be invited will be those who read Accounting or Economics. B.sc. for HND you need God. i mean real divine intervention. for the position of assistance manager, it has to be a chartered accountant or tax with 6years relevant experience. the deal is almost set. believe it.

This is the most horrifying part that i have been scared of sharing.

Mind you there are things that I can not share here because of the sensitivity and the way people like you treat information. I am also waiting to be proved wrong since day one. I don't think I have ever contributed to any recruitment thread except this. Even if I don't have name I have information first hand from the source. Funny enough there is a person on this forum with fantastic information as well. Maybe cuz of people like you that the person is holding back (I won't reveal the person's name). I don't mind being proved wrong as long as we all get the job. After all, what is the harm in the info I shared or you have anything to the contrary? Until then, just ignore my ''lies" and pretend as if I never wrote them. Shikena!

both this two people aisa6773 and Yaasir have been providing us with accurate info.regarding FIRs recruitment,an info.from genuine source,an insider.that is why we need dem al d time.
Good day people. Sorry for the long break in communication. It is better to keep quiet when there is nothing to say than to mislead people. That is why i was ''offline'' for a while. The FIRS recruitment has started with the review of application. I am not aware if anybody has been called but that does not mean its impossible. All i know is that they have started painstaking review. If you apply for any role that you are not qualified for, your chance of being called is next to nothing especially if you applied for AM due to the volume of applications. If your qualification is outside those stated in the application you stand little or no chance except you have a very strong backing and you may end up getting the entry level. I know this for sure cos a colleague/friend is involved. The person that nominated him was asked to replace him due to his academic qualification. It took the intervention of powerful forces before the eventually agreed that the guy should be considered for entry level. For the AM position if you do not have professional qualification or long years of relevant experience with core qualification in those fields stated, just continue to intensify your prayer. There is so much emphasis on the AM grade which i don't really understand why. Some will still get it without knowing anybody but your must be sufficiently qualified and have requisite experience. As for the pay, you need to know the grade the person is referring to before you can know whether it is correct or not. Let us wait till we get there until we talk about the pay except for people that have alternatives.

You can choose the one to believe. I gave you the information based on the latest development. Are you aware that there is an internally restricted memo from presidency to all government agencies warning them against employment scam? It was issued on monday before resumption from holiday. That was why i even quoted that immigration was going to do recruitment. So many things are going on concurrently but i can confirm that FIRS has started the recruitment and people will resume this month; either legally or illegally.
