I'm glad we're learning more about the interviews, and it wasn't all rosy as we initially thought |
dagolden:Actually it's very possible, coz this is a Bilateral Agreement and hence will cost PTDF a lot less (maybe only 1/3 of the cost of sponsoring students to UK). Infact I if it's possible I think oil producing states should get like 13-15 each. That of UK is could then be shrunk to 3 per state and 4-5 for oil producing states, considering the volume they're able to take under F/G/C |
Xkanta:Confirm, smallish figure, fair and wears glasses, omo that woman finish me oh, 2 of my former classmates who are lecturers told me about her and they made an extra effort to avoid her by selecting a different research area even though their proposals were in environmental engineering, they went to face an engineering panel coz she interviewed them last year and they didn't find it funny. |
Xkanta:God bless u bro, I think it's coz the "Hausas" aren't whining about their experiences so the guy complaining feels he was stereotyped, I did my F/G/C in ATBU my alma mata, 3 Hausas interviewed me, one was a woman, Prof of biological sciences, the other was a Dr, was a DD St NOSDRA, omo by the time they finished with me ehn, I was sweating, questioned my everything about me, from my degree to my work place, I was shocked when I was seeing testimonies of ppl saying "just know ur proposal well" baba my own na die oh!!! I even had to call 2 of my friends one is a lecturer in ABU and also did his interview, but told me it was a war of words oh, and this person is from Kano and the panelists were also "Hausas". He even said he met one of d professors a few days later at a gathering and told d man he had lost hope coz of d way he was grilled, d prof laughed and told him that usually they take time on a person if they're interested in d topic and most or all of the panelists have a grounded knowledge on d proposed research area. I spoke to my friend who did his in abj, all he told me was that "bro the event is better imagined than experienced ". On the flip side of d coin I did my UK interview today in PH ACE-CEFOR and it was fantastic compared to my experience in my alma mata, the man that interviewed me was Yoruba (I think), and allowed me explain my methodology even when it seemed like he didn't understand, I made a statement while presenting, he just cut briefly by saying "that's a wrong assertion but I should go on we will talk about that when you're done with ur presentation". So that person whining should know he wasn't in anyway singled out. I wasn't there when he was interviewed by if I was to comment about it I'll say he tried to prove he knew too much & d panelists will be like "OK na let's go there" All d best to all of us. |
FA13:Phd sir |
For those that applied for the UK version, check your mailbox, IVs just started dropping |
Yes oh boss Acknowledged, very short notice sha Tdarry: |
TJ0987:I got ur mail, but replying via email is kinda hard so I think it's best I put it up here for others to benefit based on my experience with d China/France/Germany application. - For PhD applicantion, no attention was paid to my SOP as with others that did theirs before me (mine was on Fri 13/4/18). - secondly, the panel that interviewed me consisted of a female prof of biological sciences, a Dr that was a DD in NOSDRA, a staff from FCC and another Dr who was a beneficiary of d scheme (meaning he got his PhD via ptdf scholarship), my research area was environmental sciences, but both science & Mgt were collapsed into one panel. - I was asked for some documents, not all though, only BSc, MSC, Awards and publications, that's all. - I was allowed to present my proposal verbally, after which questions were asked, most questions revolved around details of ur writeup, like method of sample collection, indicators, applications & viability of ur research, etc. LESSONS LEARNT - Know your research proposal very well, some questions are quite obvious and will come from there, they might just want to confirm you wrote it yourself. - the rule was the proposal shouldn't be more than 5 pages, although no penalty if it's more, but I advise u keep to d 5-7 pages, not just coz of d rules, but coz you'll be able to memorise every page and also more write up will def give d panel more questions to ask. - I was told by d prof that my ptdf award for MSC, will not be considered as an award, but they consider awards like best graduating student, any award in d office for outstanding performance, best project etc - I didn't have any publications so I just told them I didn't have any - I think everything from ur WAEC to grade of BSC & Masters, all have marks, also awards and publications will also have marks, ideally certifications should too and relevant work experience. - if u do not have any awards or publications you're still qualified but ur marks won't be up to those with qualifications. - selecting preferred centre of interview really doesn't have any effect, it's just for ease, unlike that of BEA that made ppl travel from one part of d country to d other. - finally, this thing is basically a competition with ppl from ur state, the best in my state might have just a BSC & 2.2, while the worst in another state might have a first class in BSC, distinction in Masters, with awards and publications. So it's relative. I was told by some sources that The interview itself carries only 20marks, (pls is hearsay and not certain). I hope this helps. All d best to all applicants, may God Bless our hustle. |
feyijeunso:Yes but with work experience |

Blissfulken:If it's same date but different time I advise u to use the earlier time, if it's different dates I advise u use the latter date |

AlanTuringAI:I think it's safe to say no phd applicant has received an IV. I just tried logging in and it took me straight to research area. Just to avoid any doubts I selected my research area and clicked submit. I don't know but I think it's a decider on when we'll get our IV |

udores:Thanks for this update |
Edakun oooh, I just tire, it also occurred to me yesterday but like you've observed no one has made mention of it, by now shortlisted applicants should've gotten specifics about their date, location & required materials to bring along to the interview. Moonie: |

I am sure the specific date will be sent when they send the second text specifying our venues for interview. This information is just for shortlisted applicants to prepare for the interview. I am also optimistic PhD will be an oral interview AlanTuringAI: |
Bravo121:I did not speak out of certainty, if u read well i said "i think" and "it seems" BEA used same terms, but all ended up writing tests. I am also hoping it is really interviews and not written tests. I do not have any sources, but if you have made enquiries and your source is genuine, it is all good we all get to benefit. |
She's a beauty, I called but you didn't pick up |
UPDATE!!!! PTDF is sending mails to shortlisted applicants to choose preferred centres of interview. Options should be made no later than 72 hours after recieving the mail else an option will be selected for you automatically. Interiview will hold between 9th and 13th April. Thats a short notice so if you have confirmed you have been shortlisted better start getting ready. Although it seems every applicant (PhD & MSc) will write tests. I think by interviews they mean tests. All the best and may our efforts be rewarded. For those who did not get shortlisted, do not despair, all hope is not lost. the UK option just opened. |
