Have you thought in schools, or taught in schools? Are you indeed a teacher?
For heaven's sake, rape and manslaughter are criminal issues, not for a teacher to deal with by caning!
As for unseriousness…send the student out of class, with assignments still due, without her benefitting from the lectures...either she will fail because she is unserious, or beg to return to class because she is ready to become serious. Either way, the disruption in class will stop, and when she takes the decision to return...it will not be by force, but by the beginning of wisdom.

About sending the student out of the class, I've taught before so I have a lil bit of experience, some students are actually waiting and praying for you to send them out, even during my secondary school days, We had classmates that would be glad to be sent out especially when it was a class or a teacher everyone dreaded

I don't know for y'all but I'm certain that if not for the flogging I received, my story would have been different .

I beat my siblings when they do certain nonsense too , I think it works better in this part of the world... Well that aside, what matters most is understanding your children and doing what works for you and them .

I know of one person since the college of Medical Science is in a campus different from the one I am studying in and the students in department are not many (less than 60 per set). The guy had 286 or 296 (I've forgotten but it's one of the two) and he's from Bauchi.

Oh, thank you

Do you have a clue of what his olevel contains

Every University makes use of quota system in Nigeria. Jamb score is the only parameter ATBU use to give admission. I was offered Admission using "awaiting result". That means my Olevel was not considered at all before I was offered admission.

Alright, sounds fair, I just want to be sure so I don't make a wrong decision... Please do you have a clue of the scores of those who were admitted into medicine and surgery this year

Let's hope that user would provide you with worthwhile information.

Got a reply already, I'm still asking more questions though so I don't make a wrong choice, thanks for your help

Yakira, I am a student of ATBU and so I think I can be of help. Regarding the requirement for MBBS, I think the cut off mark (minimum) is 230 but that doesn't mean you'll be offered the course with that score. You'll have to hit close to 300... All the best!
Oh, thanks for replying, please what else do they look at apart from one's jamb score because I heard of someone who scored 280 something some years back and I was told she wasn't offered

Also, do they use catchment area as a criteria
thanks in advance

Explicit biology and chemistry is very good to combine with the textbooks you have up there
I personally didn't use lamlad,I didn't like the textbook cuz it's not readable,it doesn't have the complete syllabus for jamb. Its only good if you want it for questions to solve.

Thanks for responding, I'll try to lay my hands on one of them
Education / Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Yakira(f): 9:57am On Nov 30, 2019

Is Lamlad really as good as you all are saying

Also any ATBU or BSU medical student in the house

Hmm... I think I need to tell you some point blank truth while still being as sympathetic as possible.
1. I believe you ain't doing your best when it comes to utme. If you truly want any medical related course then be ready to cross the 250 mark. Even in some schools 300 in utme won't get you anything not to talk of Zoology that BUK offered you. ( apology to Zoology peeps).
You still have almost 4 months before utme 2020, if you think you can ace utme with preparation in 4 months. Good luck and I wish you best of results.

2. Being from Benue state is not what's holding you down but you may apply to schools that Benue is part of their catchments (check jamb brochure) or your state Uni.

3. ATBU offers MBBS and it is accredited. ( I don't know their admission modality tho).

4. You feel B'cuz your Olevel is C's that it is part of what's dragging you back. Truth be told in some schools like UI, Udusok (Olevles has little or no effect) while in some like OAU it takes as much as 10%, in some schools like 50%.
Preparing for GCE is nice but do you have the time? It is easier said than done. Can you be reading for Utme, BUK 100lvl and still be reading for GCE?

I will tell you to sit down and plan how much stuffs you want to have on your plate. Make your enquires well and chose what's best for you. It is never too late to study ones dream course.

Thank you so much I really needed to hear
this and thanks for your response it came in timely

Good day everyone, I hope you are all doing good

I had to open another naira land account after being a silent viewer of this thread years back

So I passed out from secondary school , took my first jamb and scored low, so my first jamb failed

2017, I took another jamb still scored less than 220 by this time I was already questioning my dream, I wondered why I was scoring low, applied for Unical ... I was somehow hoping that maybe they would even change my course so I could just go to school , I wasn't offered anything

The next year I didn't sit for jamb

2019, I sat for another jamb, scored 232 ,I had belief that I would get that ,but I was offered a biological course instead
..... I've decided to go for it but with the plan of taking another jamb, this time going back to my dream of medicine... I can't imagine myself elsewhere plus it would help me achieve my other aims in life

Presently I feel like my brain is almost blank, I don't really know if I can still read well and prepare in time for next year jamb

Secondly which schools accept those from the middle belt states as a catchment area

Thirdly does ATBU offer medicine and surgery, if yes, is it accredited

I also considered taking GCE due to the fact that my o level is filled with C's , 1 A and 4 C's, please I really need guidance and advice from those who are well oriented

By the way, I'll be accepting that which the other school offered to me , to put myself in the academic system again, I'm one of those whom if not challenged I don't really take this serious that's why

I apologize for making such a lengthy post

Please I really need a quick reply time is not on my side.....
thanks in advance everyone
