Crossroads

Some roads genesis with songs.
Some climax in silence.
Both are still roads.

An Iroko does not curse the wind
when the last leaf falls.
It waits for another season.

A river does not hold
the water that has passed.
It simply keeps flowing.

So it is with the heart.
It wears seasons on its soul and
changes its face without losing its name.

No journey is wasted
if it teaches the feet
how to walk.

No meeting is empty
if it leaves the heart
wiser than it came.

The sky does not count
the birds that have flown.
It remains wide enough
for tomorrow's wings.

So let gratitude
be heavier than grief.
Every crossing of paths
is a quiet gift from God.
