Earlier today, it was reported that a Fulani herds men killed a young girl & elderly woman today at Akokwa. The youths in a reprisal attack were reported to have killed 6 Fulani herdsmen.

According to news report, a misguided Hausa man suspected to be a Fulani herdsmen has reportedly killed two women in Akokwa in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State today, Friday 12th August, 2016, ifeanyicy's blog has learnt.
An eye witness said the man chased down a girl hawking snack and she ran to take cover in a nearby home where an elderly woman attempted to intervene on her behalf. It was gathered that the irate man overpowered and killed both the girl and the elderly woman with a shovel.
According to the source, the incident has sparked outrage in the Community. Some youths in retaliation, allegedly got hold of some men suspected to be involved in the killing and killed six.
The Police and other security agencies have taken over security in Akokwa. The elders and leaders of Akokwa clan are rallying to ensure that the youths are calmed down for the meantime to avert an escalation of the crisis.
Fulani herdsmen and their accomplices are reported to be regrouping to attack the community once again, the law enforcement agents are expected to be equal to the task to handle the situation well and forestall unforseen circumstance.

The naira hit another record low of 403 against the dollar at the parallel market.
Due to the scarcity of dollars in the circulation, all effort I made to buy dollar from the bank was in vain even though I knew it have been that way. So, I made up my mind to buy from black marketers. To my utmost dismay, the dollar, Euro and pounds were exchanged against naira at 403, 425 and 510 respectively. Now see the problem, even at the high rate, the Mallam I bought the dollar from was very reluctant to even sell owing to the speculations that it will still rise more. I now ask myself... What is the fate of our country, Nigeria? I would like both the citizens and the government to give a helping hands to the naira before it becomes an object of ridicule like the Zimbabwe currency.
