UrbanMystique: my economy is good enough to see a reap off. Plus, that is also one way of thinking for you too.
Going by your logic, every countries of the world incincluding great america still depend heavily on imports from China or other countries for goods and raw materials they cannot produce locally, e.g oyel, technology food etc. How come those things are not affecting locally made goods in their country? Eg, whenever the price of oil goes up in the world, you don't hear america or European countries doubling the price of commodities because transportation which is very crucial to any economy would also increase tremendously.
By way, I don't know that boli ati epa seller or the pure water makers change their cars or phone or buy those things for their children everyday that they feel everyone else should bear the brunt.
I don't blame them sha, I blame the fact that there is no proper regulatory that put these people on check. U dey craze! No wonder u reason through your anus. Besides, How could u bring America (great America; if I should cite u verbatim) into a matter like this? African man, feeling inferior since 16BC. solja01: Thanks Yehman for the criticism and for quoting the poo I wrote. I sometimes pity the way people like you think and criticize other peoples write up, going into details of the budget or how it went missing is what most if not every young Nigerian knows... In your wisdom and intelligent write up, you said the president 'proposed' ( put forward (a plan or suggestion) for consideration by others) to spend the aforementioned figures in your write-up. This budget will pass through the senate before approval (I stand to be corrected). The issue of instability of power should have been a thing of the past in Nigeria by now, that's my point and you and I know that the only way to generate wealth for the country is dwindling. Thanks! But, I hope u got my points clear. |

solja01: Where is the money to make power supply stable? The past governments should have improved on this issues when our crude still held value... They just compounded the situation of this country by looting the treasury.. Yet all we do is blame Buhari and his CHANGE theme, forgetting that the way to generate money to fix this country is no more (Crude oil). I'm ashamed that a supposed young leader like u could come here and type a poo like this. Well, I guess u might have been deceived by the seeming veracious but totally hocus pocus impression that they (the so called change agents) met an empty treasury. A country where lies, propaganda and deceit have become the other of the day. Me and u are fully aware of the budget saga. How it got missing, then later it was found and bla bla bla...A country where there is no money but... * Presidency proposed to spend N904,015,000 for the acquisition of brand new automobile fleet? *Ministry of Communication Technology proposed N585,000,000 for the purchase of chairs and N415,500,000 for the purchase of tables. My brother, the table are they made of gold? *The general renovation of Aso Rock Guest House was proposed to cost N387,980,200, just as furnishing the rooms in the Guest House was put at N45million. Who is fooling who? *Approximately 800million was budgeted for Aso rock medical center and yet none of them goes there for treatment. Curiously, the presidency also proposed to spend N322,421,971 to link a cable to the drivers’ restroom at the presidential villa. Another N213,873,953 was proposed for linking of a cable from Guest House through generator house to the gate and N618,604,265 for the installation of electrical lighting and fittings at the villa, N371,733,964 for the installation of electrical distribution boards and other cables. In fact, I will suggest you take A revisit to 2016 budget, a.k.a #BudgetOfCorruption cos if I should continue I might run out of cyberspace. *Remind me again how much was spent for the maintenance of presidential private jet? Nigerians, where have your senses gone to? If the APC are not ready to work like their counterpart criminals (PDP) then, they should stop heralding change and apportioning blames to anybody. Enough of all this shit!

Lying down on his bed and wondering why NIGERIAN External Foreign Reserve has depleted to under $ 28billion which has translated to free fall depreciation of Nigerian NAIRA to US DOLLAR at PARALLEL MARKET.......
Fellow Nigerians, let's us start producing, let us start buying made in NIGERIA goods If our economy is to grow and create better jobs.
How can a country like Nigeria be importing toothpick, cutting bud, cotton wool, matches, rubber band e.t.c? And we complain at d same time that there is no jobs for our teeming youths?
The situation is even pathetic now when you see Nigerians ( in Lagos) prefer Cotonou garri to that of Ijebu, buy cotonou pineapple and they say it is better than that of Nigeria. That is why frozen foods will be exported to Cotonou from farms like that of obasanjo repacked and imported back to Nigeria because they know Nigerians always prefer made in outside Nigeria goods . That is why you will see an expatriate renumeration will be juicy than that of his Nigeria counterpart even if that Nigerian is more certificated than d expatriate ( This also happen in government parastatals).
Any nation that import majorly foreign made goods/ services rather than producing their own are hurting its people....
When we keep importing foreign made products into Nigeria, we keep importing poverty into our country and exporting jobs abroad...
Let's go back to the land to grow and patronise MADE IN NIGERIA products...

grandstar: What is hot money? How do you insulate your economy from the effect of hot money? What is a loose fiscal policy? Why is the Nigerian economy continuously plagued by hot money? How good is your economics? Oga, forget all those policies u read on paper. I bet you if apply them here it won't work cos we don't even have any lay down structures for it to hold water. * Even though my economics might not be wonderful but at least I know that Fiscal policy involves the government changing the levels of taxation and government spending in order to influence Aggregate Demand (AD) and the level of economic activity. On the other hand, the loose fiscal policy u mentioned if you truly know what it means has to do with the emphasis on increased spending and lower tax revenue to boost economic activity, with the acceptance of a wider fiscal deficit. I.e; people are expected to spend more (buying from local manufacturing industries and not a country where almost everything is virtually imported) since they are under taxed. I now put this questions to you.. What is the population of the country you want to apply fiscal policy? how many are children, youths and adults? What percentage of the population are employed? How many people pay the tax (esp PAYE) we are talking about? You want apply loose fiscal policy where there is no data. A country where the last population census result opined that kano is more populated than Lagos or a country where federal census reported that a state for instance; lagos is 9 million plus while state census reported 25 million plus, the same year. * In economics, hot money is the flow of funds (or capital) from one country to another in order to earn a short-term profit on interest rate differences and/or anticipated exchange rate shifts. Put differently, Hot money is money invested in an economy by foreign investors. Hot money is a short-term concept that revolves around speculation of interest rates and exchange rates. If you agree with me, you can see that flows of hot money affected the economies of Spain and Greece in 2009 as they had a period of negative real interest rates fuelled by a low base rate (set by the ECB) and high levels of inflation which led to a reduction in foreign investment as their money was de-valuing. This could have contributed to their economic decline. Suffix to say, Hot money tends to be invested by rich developed countries in poorer countries that have higher interest rates in order to capitalise on the increased returns from banks etc. Having said enough, I'm yet to understand what you mean by "how do you insulate your economy from the effect of hot money?" and "Why is the Nigerian economy continuously plagued by hot money?" Why do u choose to contradict yourself? I will advice you find synonymous words for "insulate and plagued" and replace them to understand what u have typed. Bro, we don't have foreign investors yet and you have started talking about effect of hot money on our economy. #Team #BuyNaijaToGrowNaira |

Obiagelli: I am not in anyway an economist but i have been reading a bit, especially Henry Boyo ( truth be told, i get an anytime i do). I believe we earn our oil revenue in dollars, what if the federal government pay states their allocation in dollars and the state simple exchange their dollars for naira at the bank or BDC. With this system there will be surplus dollar in the system that will drive the exchange rate down. A good example of this was during the last election when dollar was raining all over the place (thanks to Dasuki) the dollar fell to 170 naira despite official rate at 197 naira.
