Religion / Re: One Of King Solomon's Wives Was From Ogun State, Nigeria. True Or False? by YemiAdisa(m): 7:57am On Jan 21, 2013
Danka7777:

Very ignorant being. You didn't know the bible was copied from ancient African literature and laws? You didn't know that? You never cared to ask but foolishly believe all you read, thinking it's true and was sanctioned by God. You need to travel out of the country and study deeply, until then, will you be shocked to the lies told to us. People like you would think that present-day Israel is the same as Biblical Israel. I had one sheeple the other day try to tell me that today's Israel was founded by God. I almost slapped him in disgust. Poor man didn't know that present-day Israel was founded in 1948 after the second world and has nothing to do with biblical israelites who were blacks.

You have just made my day with this post! One of the main problems we have in Nigeria today is the fact that the so-called Nigerian youths are not as literate as they used to be. And our eagerness towards learning has dropped drastically. Almost 95% of the people that have commented on this thread may have not heard about this Sungbo Eredo story and instead of doing some researches on their own to find out more about the place, most of them have already made up their "single-sided" mind that it's a big lie.

For your info, Sungbo Eredo was made known to the world by an archaeologist called Dr Patrick Darling from Bournemouth University and he happens to be a family friend. Dr Darling has already put Sungbo Eredo forward to be recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Site. For more information and images of Sungbo Eredo, check out http:///4qfA9
Nairaland / General / Re: 10 Commandments For A Youth(guy) To Be Successful by YemiAdisa(m): 4:55am On Jan 19, 2013
sisqology: 10 comandments for a youth to be successful
1. Do not depend on ur parents' wealth. Someone may come tomoro to dupe you and you will lose everything. Learn to do things on ur own.
2. God has given everyone a talent. Pray about urs, discover it, and work on it. Then it will work out for u.
3. Do not just sit down and ping, tweet, facebook while others are making money with their talents. Be wise for once, the owner of these things are using us to make money.
4. Its good to appreciate good things, but learn to appreciate it wisely and stop arguing unneccessarily about football and players. When will people argue about you also? Think!
5. Don't feel like a don for sleeping with too many ladies, they won't make ur destiny fufiled as some are filled with badluck.
6. Learn to get a lady close to you to be successful as they say: without a woman,a man cannot be successful.
7. Learn to solve problem on ur own, its a good way of making it in life. Don't copy others, tap little from them and modify it.
8. Stop drinking and smoking too much as it may damage ur life too much. Do it socially.
9. Learn to have a good heart, help people around you if you have the power as they'll use their heart to bless you.
10. Think about impossible things, try to make it possible. Bigger people started from somewhere.

Thank you.

Your point 3 is a little bit confusing because there are lots of people out there (including myself) that are making money legally through Ping, Tweeter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other Social Media or social networking websites. The problem with most Nigerians on these social networking websites is that they are not making use of the services to enhance themselves and probably make money legally through it. 95% of Nigerians on social networking websites, most especially on Facebook & Twitter, are wasting their precious time and helping others to make money through the services. Most of these social networking websites have moved away from their traditional function as networking sites that link you and your friends and families, they are now more of a business or brand oriented avenue through which you can sell, market or expose yourself to potential clients. This is what most Nigerians on these social networking websites still have not worked on. I have said it to many people that "there is no point in using Facebook or Twitter or LinkedIn if you aint got something to sell, promote or market.

Career / Re: University Courses That Are Waste Of Time by YemiAdisa(m): 3:36am On Jan 13, 2013
obyrich: There is more to acting than posing in front of cameras with heavy make ups. A degree in theatre arts doesnt necesarily qualify one as an actor or actress.

Thank you for this reply.....I felt like it came straight from my mouth lol
I have a cousin that studied Theatre Arts @ Oxford and he's doing really well and he has never acted professionally. He works with the Art Council of England.

Just like someone had mentioned before, 99% of courses studied @ the university is a waste of time if you re not innovative in this challenging world.
What makes you is not your degree or the course you studied, it is your innovation, skills and perseverance.
In western world, lots of young people are on courses like Beauty Therapy, Health & Social Care, Travel & Hotel Management etc...and a large number of them ended up being self-employed.
There are lots of opportunities out there in Nigeria but the problem with a young Nigerian is looking for jobs where there is no job. Looking for jobs @ places like NNPC, Shell, Chevron, Banks etc rather than 'self-develop' yourself.

My childhood friend studied Agric Economics at Abeokuta. Like a typical Nigerian graduate, he wanted to travel abroad probably to further his study and with the hope of staying over having unsuccessfully looked for jobs where there's no job. I discouraged him, and I promised to financially support him if he can go and farm rather than going abroad.

Today (after 3 years), he has been able to establish 10 different farms on livestocks, plants and crops in western Nigeria. His farming business has taken him to places like Malaysia, US, UK, France and Brazil on seminars and trainings. He employed some of the guys he was with while chasing "unavailable jobs". I am putting together a pieces on his journey from being a job seeker to an employer. Check out my website @ http://www.adeyemiadisa.com for updates.
Business / Few Things You Can Change That Can Make You A Better Person In 2013 by YemiAdisa(m): 10:15am On Dec 31, 2012
How do you turn your life around and make yourself a better person in the new year 2013? As we are moving closer to the end of the year 2012, what are you planning to change about yourself that can make you a better person than you ‘re in previous years?

Some people were unable to get through the ups and downs of the year 2012 while others ‘re so lucky and fortunate enough to make it happen during the year. At times, life throws all sorts of stuff at us, be it good or bad, to test our strength and resilient. So are you prepared for the challenges of the year 2013?

Year 2012 has witnessed some great achievements as many people were able to achieve amazing break through notably amongst which include Obama’s re-election, Facebook’s successful début in share trading, the popularity of Pinterest as well as Instagram etc. Some new start-ups sprung up while some shut their doors. Such is life!

Five Things You Should Work On In 2013

1. Be More Ambitious: Set A Target For Yourself
My mama used to say “always try to identify what you are good at and set yourself a target for an uninspired man is an aimless man.” Maybe you were unable to discover or identify what you are good at in 2012, here comes another opportunity for you to have a closer look at yourself.

2. Change Or Improve Your Thinking And Lifestyle
Analyse the impact of your lifestyle on your general achievements. Are you okay with the ways you are living your life? If not, then you should take a look at where you can improve. You can also change or improve your thinking by changing your attitude and be more serious with what you are doing. Some experts say, you can’t be able to change your attitude without first recognising the reason why you should. So, if you are the type that think thoughts such as “I am not good enough,” “I am not creative,” “I can’t do that,” “I can’t do this,” or any other negative statement, you are already telling your subconscious mind something to subscribe to. This is what you ought to change in 2013 if you want to succeed in life. The little trick is to fill your mind with positive statements that can stimulate you to create the life you desire.

3. Improve Yourself Through Self Development
Self or personal development is an important factor towards changing your life. It's not about your university or college degree, it's more about how capable you are. There are lots of stuff you don't learn in school which you might need to make it happen in life. Try to self-teach yourself, try to learn new things. Your self development can be improved through the help of friends as well as families. What is most important in self development is the ability to see or discover what you need to improve in yourself. You can improve yourself in so many different ways; it could be your attitudes or actions that reflect your core values.

4. Improve Your Sociability
Always try to be more social and never try to do things on your own all the time. You can only pursue intentional change by starting a new hobby, joining an organisation, learning a skill, initiating a project or meeting new people. Be open-minded and always give rooms for arguments with your friends and families. Share your joyful moments as well as sadness with others around you and allow them to offer their opinions or views. This might be all you'll need to get going in life. Try to attend seminars on issues that are most important to you. Check you local directory to find out the type of professional groups or associations you can join to help improve yourself. Also, don’t forget to search for online communities with people that can inspire you.

5. Associate Yourself With Your Likes
When I said “your likes”, I actually meant to say people that you consider a good influence. These are people that will contribute positively towards you realising your dreams. Check yourself and the type of people you have been moving around with. You will definitely see those that do not fit into your personality amongst your so-called friends.

Take this tip and others you might think useful on board in the new year, then you will see a complete new you by the end of the year!

I wish you all a successful new year!

EdwinB1: amedinijad is a known talkaltive,....if u can remember the arabs countries that comprises egypt, jordan, syria palestanians attacked the israelis, israel were not the ones that start the war in middle east but the arabs, the attacks were supported by their neighbors the arabs,.. The attack on israel was'nt just ones..
This made the jewish nation to be suspecious of its arab nation including iran.........and i want to ask you a question, why is it only the arab and the persian nation feel treatened of israel, why not other mediterenean neighbours such s turkey, greece or cyprus feel treatened. THE ARABS AND IRAN HAVE A MOTIVE AND THEIR MOTIVE IS WIP OUT ISRAEL

That's just your own thinking I guess!!!
Iran has never attacked or invaded any country since they drove British and America imperialism out of their country.
Iran is generally known as a peaceful nation with no problems with her neighbours. But unlike your so-called Israel, they have invaded all their neighbouring countries.

Please go and read more books and stop assuming or making up things you no nothing about. And please stop referring to Iran as an Arab country. The fact that they are Muslims doesn't mean they are Arabs. If Israel can have WMD, what's stopping others having it as well?

Russia can't defeat a force of USA, britain, france, germany, canada, japan, georgia.

All the stuff you spitting up there don't make sense...does it?

What's intelligent in what yemi said.
Iran keeps saying everyday that they will wipe cancerous isreal out of the map.
Even iran supreme leader said the same thing

Ahmadinejad wants to wipe Israel off the map - YouTube

Can you please give us a link to where Iranian president said he wanted to wipe out Israel?
Please don't post CNN, Fox News and the likes videos on youtube because they are all war propaganda.

EdwinB1: it seems you dont under stand history....let me give you the trilogy
*JACOB=NAME CHANGE TO ISRAEL
*JEW=SOME ONE WHO PRACTICE JUDAISM,AND WHO IS FROM THE TWELVE TRIBE OF ISRAEL.
*ZIONISM=IS A MOVEMENT FOUNDED BY THE JEWISH PEOPLE TO CREAT A(ERETZ ISRAEL)LAND FOR ISRAELITES..THE MOVEMENT WAS FOUNDED BY A JEWISH RABBI IN THE 19 CENTURY..........AND ZION IS ANOTHER NAME JERUSALEM

Thanks for the info...but could you provide any reference please? I like to learn and I will love to update my little knowledge!

As you have rightly said, Zionism is a movement but not only to create land for Israelites as you claimed but also to dominate the world politically and economically; and one of their weapons is WAR! This is why people like the Iranian president is telling world to unite against Zionism.

What a silly comment!
Yeah, you meant like the ones they used in Ile-Ife and Modakeke war?
Foreign Affairs / Re: Iran Builds New Liko Drone by YemiAdisa(m): 11:04am On Sep 24, 2012
gbadexy:
My friend, its easy for a layman like you that can't even manufacture a bicycle to condemn the drone.
An intelligent person would look at the capacity of the craft and not the appearance.
Do you know what speed it can reach, besides a drone that can carry a 100kg bomb and fly at 16000 ft should not be viewed lightly.
I don't know about military operations but I know this drone doesn't necessarily need daylight to operate and the small size wouldn't make easy target.
Any intelligent person knows that they would improve on it and subsequent ones would be better.
Even if you hate someone, don't let emotion and sentiment get the best of your sense, view things dispassionately and objectively. Appreciating your enemies would make you better prepared.

I must say a big thank you for this because you have just taken the words out of my mouth.
Most Nigerians don't know nothing about world politics and most especially the Iranian military capability. You guys need to read books and stop watching "porns" lol

Dondbuzor:
My argument is simple; is this all they could put together in order to wipe out israel from the world map as they boasted. Mark my words, iran is destined to doom. Maybe they are banking on russia and china to come to their aid wen the war starts.

Please stop commenting on issues you don't know nothing about. Also, stop watching CNN, Fox News and the likes when it comes to global politics; they are all feeding you with rubbish!
The Iranian president has never made the above statement you mentioned, it is just the "war propaganda" Israel is feeding people like you.

Iranian president said "THE WORLD NEED TO WIPE OUT ZIONISM FROM THE MAP", he did not say Israel. Then you should have asked yourself why ZIONISM and not ISRAEL or JEW. Do you actually know the differences between Israel, Jew and Zionism? Please go and read more books and always engage in intellectual debates/conversations with open minds.

Exactly! I wonder why you guys are surprised at this latest development in Abuja. I have been expecting this and I knew it will happen because this is the exact stuff you get when the Govt is in charge of every goddamn thing. Basic services such as 1. Road maintenance, 2. Traffic lights, 3. City taxi/cab, 4. City bus should have been contracted or leased to private companies.

Good job peeps...I quite love this thread and i must say i feel quite at home, relating wt this thread and wat posters here have showcased so far...As opposed to my initial plans to outsource a web design project to some foreign folks on freelance.com.
i would rather spell things out here and look out for the best bidder.

My project/Proposal
I look forward to creating an all encompassing and interactive website on Africa, that subserves a dual purpose. Viz-a-viz tourism, entertainment et.al. essentially it would av to be e-commerce enhanced as there wld be an e-store ,i shld seamlessly be able to recieve payments frm people dat patronizes items dat wl be up for sale (bearing in mind dat am domociled in nigeria whr paypal services arent offered.).The closest to my concept here is www.cometonigeria.com by YemiAdisa...there are however subtle differences and mine wl be abt Africa.
would av love to work with Yemi(rubia design) but frm checking ur contacts, u dont appear to be arnd in Nigeria??.....i still can work with any serious interested bidder, that understands d crux of wat i described on here.
My ultimate Objective
The essential goal is to generate income from the website through Adsense and affliates. As such i look up to getting the website frm the designer only when it has began generating btw 10-15 dollars per day frm ads.
I jst hope am not putting off interested bidders
Anyone in for business shld contact me via gifteddoctor@yahoo.com Be sure to mail links to ur past projects, clearly spell out ur terms and conditions, as well as cost implications and duration of design..Tnks

There is no project that's too small or too much for a serious web/graphics designer. I would have loved to work on your project but at the moment, I am extremely busy with some web and graphic design projects. I am sure that some designers on nairaland can help you with your project.

Yes am in the UK but am always in Nigeria every 3 months.

You can holla @ me for some tips on your project!

There's sharp contrast in the theme of the main site and the forum. Not too bad anyway!

Many thanks for the honest reviews!

Hatlab Icecream
I designed the Icecream website almost two years ago and I have handed it over since then....
The link /ice-cream-flavours you mentioned is working here but it takes ages to load
I guess maybe the owner's webmaster has tampered with the design.... I will check with her to find out!

COME TO NIGERIA
I am presently working on a new design for the forum and it will surely reflect colour on the main site

The adverts issue will also be dealt with soon...

I appreciate your reviews and observations!

My observations

1. You should try to be more creative in your designs most especially graphic-wise.

2. Try to work on how to customise wordpress themes you are using. You don't have to make it too obvious to your visitors the type of wordpress themes you are using.

3. Your website logos are too simple ...at least you will do well to add a little bit of swag to them.

4. I personally will not register on www.fdate.co.uk because the design does not appeal to me at all... The top slider on the homepage looks horrible...you may just take it off.

I am sure that other people on here will notice all I have just mentioned above. So, please make sure you do some works on the websites!
