The number one enemy of a battery is heat as it leads to swelling, its even worse when it heats up and cools down continuously for a long period. It also depletes a batteries life quicker because every battery has a certain amount of charging cycles, so while you live it charging after it reaches 100% you also indirectly use up a charging cycle for what you did not actually use because it will continuously discharge & charge. Lets say it stops charging @ 100% then starts again at 98% that 2% difference will keep on adding until it gets to 100 which is one charge cycle.

Yes, power bank can spoil not just your battery but even the charging ic. And these are the cause.
