I have watched this stock rise while watching from the sideline since the national lockdown. As we all know, gyms are closed, so more people are stuck at home exercising and this should be a boon for their business.

This is an impulsive trade, borderline gambling. They report earnings tomorrow and I plan to hold through earnings, if there's a nice pop I will likely sell, if they disappoint, I will cut my loss. Currently up 2%

Peloton (PTON) reported good earnings. New subscription grew 94% in Q1. The stock is currently at All-Time-Highs netting me a gain of $1704. This was an earnings trade, I will sell some of my position tomorrow.

I remember you telling someone else to offload the stock after it didn't cross $100. You are right; however a long term investor in Gilead will still come out ahead was already a quality stock even before the pandemic. I had to cut my losses like I do most short term trades if it doesn't pan out as planned in the short term. Anyone not trading on the news, should continue to hold.

You are right. I can hold it till next month and sell at cost price or even a profit, but this was a very short term trade. I was basically trading on the news, expecting a pop in the stock price and selling off completely. Gilead at this current price is fully valued, not overvalued. Its price to earnings ratio is also reasonable at 11.96. I needed to sell for capital reservation and to seek out better opportunities during this earning season.

If you are new to investing, it's best to invest in high quality stocks for long term and just hold them. I do both long term and short term, but to me this pandemic we wre witnessing is a once inactive lifetime event so I plan to trade related stocks for short periods of time.

The market is rallying after it was reported that Gilead's (GILD) Remdesevir drug showed positive results in treating corona virus patients. This is the same drug the WHO said was ineffective not that long ago. I expect the market to rally some what from this news. I'm hoping for some short squeeze in stocks like SPCE and SFIX.

I bought some Gilead shares premarket.

Sold Gilead (GILD) for a loss of $684. This was an impulsive trade that was made after the positive news about Remdesevir was announced. I was expecting the stock to rise at least past $95 but it never happened. Will cut my loss here and look for better opportunities.

Musk doesn't take a salary. He could. He should. But he's literally placed his financial neck on the line for TESLA. The metrics he has to meet to vest his stocks compensation are absurd.

Bezos' salary is 81 grand. He does not accept stock awards.

Still most rail against them for ideological reasons because they created companies of immense value others with the resources refused to create.

From what I can tell, the destination for progressives and public opinion is Europe. Always one bad quarter away from a recession, but very solid jobs if you can secure one. Any citizen who can't would leech off the government kept running by a massive bureaucracy. Mexicans and South Americans can do the menial jobs (open borders).

China, India, and the next Big Economies would drive the innovation front.

It is Anti-American: but urbanization and demography changes would almost certainly guarantee it. All of the anti-billionaire talk is a distraction to court public sympathy and support from the average Joe and Jane.

Which is why it bugs me that Nigeria is fiddling away when we are uniquely positioned to be the N in BRINC and take our rightful place in the New World Order. Europe and America+Canada are the Old Guard. In terms of potential, our mates on the planet are only Brazil, China, and India. Hopefully, the country wakes the f* up in our lifetimes.

You are very knowledgeable; I think you should comment more on the thread as it will broaden our knowledge. To be fair, Elon Musk took a big risk basing his compensation on stock performance. I wonder if he really expected the company to have a market cap of $100 billion so quickly. So I absolutely he should get paid. China, India and Nigeria probably make up 30% of the world's population and they are the next frontier. I can only hope we seize the opportunity to rise as the "Old Guard" slowly falls.

I just bought a few shares of Genprex (GNPX). This is a small biotech company and they currently have drugs in the pipeline to treat lung cancer and diabetes. This is a small cap stock that used to trade at $18 just two years ago. The chart looks good here and a move to $3 will value this company at over $100M. This is a very risky trade and it may not materialize.

Today it was announced that Genprex (GNPX) received fast track FDA approval for the treatment of non-small lung cancer and the stock is up about 75% as of this writing. Current stock price is $4.05 and I'm up 71%. I bought these shares hoping for an exit price around $3 so I won't get greedy, I will sell about half my position and let the rest run.

CNBC/Bloomberg did explained that probable reason for Elon Musk tweet was because the value of the company was about to reach $100B which will trigger contractual payment of millions of dollars to him.

Wow. I believe he gets paid based on the stock's performance. But seriously success shouldn't be curtailed or stymied. I mean the US is a capitalist system, no one should feel guilty for being so rich. I know it looks bad because if everything that's going on but it's not his fault shareholders want to reward him.

I smell a bit of a conspiracy:
Amazon's announcement, plus Trump threatening China and then most recently, Elon Musk stating Tesla stock price is too high thereby leading to a prompt 10% price depreciation.
With all of these happening at the same time, it tells a lot.
As negative as it appears, all I see is opportunity to cherry-pick great stocks when they a through crashing prices by their actions.

I share the same sentiment. Think about it, Amazon reported a 26% sales increase in the 1st quarter, this is usually their slowest quarter. Despite this boom in sales, they reported 29% decline in profit because Bezos said they spent "even way more."

Amazon went on to say they expect to make $4B in the 2nd quarter but they plan to spend all of it on Corona-virus related expenses like keeping their workers safe and increasing wages. They plan to carry out COVID-19 testing on all employees and also plan to buy all the necessary masks and gloves for their employees.

The bottom line is, profiting from a pandemic looks really bad. Like many have said, millions are unemployed, millions are infected and several thousands have died as a result. To add to this, some Amazon warehouse employees are threatening to strike because they say they don't feel safe and protected. During the international Workers Day, some Amazon employees staged a walkout and it made headline news.

Same with Tesla; they reported good earnings and the stock jumped to over $860, the very next day, Elon Musk is tweeting about the stock price being so high. This is the same person who's always saying that anyone shorting Tesla will lose, he even makes fun of them on Twitter when they lose billions betting against Tesla.

Many articles have been written about how billionaires are getting richer in this pandemic and many of those articles include Bezos and Musk. It doesn't look good no matter how you look at it. So in order to save face, they had to say things to make it look like they aren't gloating in their massive fortunes. Bezo's statement about shareholders taking a seat or Musk's tweet about Tesla stock being too high are nothing but good PR. While I wouldn't completely call it a conspiracy because I believe Amazon is really spending money to incentivise and protect their workers, I wouldn't sell the stocks here, I would rather add to it. No one wants to come out and announce they are making billions of dollars while the country is falling apart, it just looks bad.

Have decided to run both short term and long term trading owing to financial constraint.

I am looking at going short for the time being then subsequently go long term with the profit from the short and whilst I continue trading with the capital short termly

UPDATE: My CCL has now delivered more than 100% capital appreciation at the close of the market yesterday. And it has moved up by another 7% after hours. I'm still in because it seems the party just started!

Target (TGT) is a major retailer just like Walmart. They reported an explosive increase in online traffic in their recent earnings a few days ago. We've seen many online retailers benefiting from the national lockdown such as Amazon (AMZN), Etsy (ETSY) and Pinterest (PINS). I just bought some shares and call option of this company Stitch Fix (SFIX); they are an online personalized styling service company. Basically they will obtain your measurements and quiz you on your style of clothes; you pay a subscription fee and they pick out and ship clothes that fit your profile. I believe they should also benefit from the pandemic because even if the government reopens the economy, so many people will be scared to immediately step into stores. This is a volatile stock, it can move up or down quick. It's current stock price is $16.45, I may hold till $17 or $18 but there's also a possibility it might drop to $14 where I will sell off completely.

Stitchfix (SFIX) is up 7% today, there's currently a 37% short interest on the stock. Basically as of 2 weeks ago, traders were predicting this stock will fall so they can make money. I took a contrarian trade based on the fact that I think companies like Stitchfix will benefit from the focus on self isolation and also because if the stock rallies, those same short sellers will have to buy the stock hands over fist to cover their position and that will send the stock even higher (short squeeze).
I bought some shares and call options, profit is about $365, but I might get greedy and hold till the stock crosses $18.

I'm buying Amazon (AMZN). They are hiring about 75,000 people after just hiring 100,000 people last month. In a time when most companies are laying off employees, these guys can't even keep up with the demand. They had suspended sale of non essential items just to focus on really needed merchandise during the coronavirus outbreak but today they just announced that they will be selling non-essential items once again. As more people are stuck at home, they continue to buy everything online even groceries. This is one of my favourite companies of all time. I made $25k profit on this stock alone 2 yrs ago (https://www.nairaland.com/2460429/us-stock-market-even-playing/15). I bought 1 share at $2150 and plan to buy the dips.

Google (GOOGL) reported a blockbuster earnings yesterday and the stock is up almost 9% today. As a result, other big cap stocks are up today Facebook (FB) 6%, Microsoft (MSFT) 3%. Amazon (AMZN) is expected to report earnings tomorrow and I expect it to be positive. Amazon has reported positive 1st quarter earnings 88% of the time and I expect them to blow this quarter out of the park. I'm up 10% but easily see the stock crossing $2500 after earnings.

I just go back into Nio at $3.13. As you already know, Nio is a chinese electric car maker. But please I will like to urge anyone investing in chinese based companies to do so skeptically because Chinese based companies have a history of fraud and faking earnings. Just the other day, Luckin Coffee (LK) lost over 80% of its stock price when it was discovered that they were faking earnings to make the company look more profitable that it actually was. LK was often touted to be the Chinese version of Starbucks another coffee chain. So going forward, I will set a Stop Limit order to prevent such massive drops, if the stock drops to my set limit sell order, it will execute and take me out completely.

NIO the chinese EV maker is up 17% today after securing $1Billion in funding. Bought some more shares and will probably hold till $4. Earnings is on may 26th.

You got me thinking. In that same vein, Chewy.com (CHWY) is a good company that will benefit. Chewy.com sells pet food online and ships them to their customers. While the market sold off yesterday, the stock is up 15%. Will definitely watch this one closely.

Selling CHWY for 30% gain. Stock might still rally, but I need to start taking gains no matter how small.

I just bought back some more shares of Inovio pharmaceuticals (INO). This is one of OakPearl's favourite stock. Made some money on the option but il now buying the shares, I believe it has more legs to run. One analyst has a price target of $35! I set a sell order at $8 to take me out. Trade carefully.

Sold INO $13/$ for $390 profit. I was up as much as $2000 yesterday but the stock gapped down before I could sell.

I bought shares of Nordic American Tankers (NAT) yesterday. With the historic decline in the price of oil, there's just so much oil and little demand. This oil tanker stock is doing very well this period because they hep store the excess oil and they charge a premium. I'm up 18%, I might add more or look towards other tanker stocks like (FRO) and (STNG).

I just looked at their site and they charge $0.4 per option trade which isn't bad at all. This is good news, hopefully anyone interested in trading options can sign up and give feedback.
