Clorox CLX is up 15% today. You cannot find clorox wipes to buy in stores, it's all sold out. My 1 share is printing though grin.

Morderna has finally closed $30 again after reporting that the company has started trials for its corona virus vaccine, call option is up 21%.

Boeing has been punished so bad. It is America's biggest exporter. But the stock is down 214% from it's All Time High. While there's so much headwind to pull the stock lower, I strongly believe the U.S government will do everything in its powers to bail out Boeing and keep them solvent. If it drops to $100, I'm buying.

The words in bold may cause greater capitulation when it reopens.
A natural fall and rise will be more lasting.
I believe the deeper the fall, the closer we get to a recovery.
The DJIA is where all eyes keep going to after every fall.

Good point. Honestly it will get to a point where everyone will realize the sell off is overdone.

I've said it repeatedly, HODL (to borrow a crypto term) cash.

Wait this pandemic out. The stock market is not going anywhere and FOMO isn't a vaccine for sustaining huge losses.

The NYSE President argued it's not a good idea to close the market. I'm indifferent. What I'd back is suspending shorting like Italy has done. That'd relief some of the bear pressure.

But overall, if you want to buy the dip, then be prepared to go long because the zig-zags have not ended. If you want to JIJO the market, the Lord is your muscle.

Lastly, about the health side of things. Don't panic. Health experts are stoking fear to scare the average Western citizen to take this seriously. Because if they don't do that, the average person will continue doing dumb sh*t; like go to a club during a f*cking global pandemic. The downside is that Wall Street hears the same thing and act like it's the end of the world.

PS: To be fair, there are good arguments to enter now. For instance, vaccine trial just started today in Seattle (and I believe simultaneously in Australia) and historically it's almost impossible to accurately time the best days (that's why informed people say buy the dip, so as not to miss out on the best days). However, for the sake of your blood pressure, know your limit. While buying the dip is potentially the most profitable thing to do, staying out is unarguably the safe thing to do.

-Lord

Truer words have never been spoken. I agree with you that buying right now comes with risk and if you don't have a long term horizon it might be best to stay in cash. I'm a long term investor. I sold most of my stocks last year around February because I had plans to use the cash at some point last year. It was a tough decision staying in cash while watching the market make All Time Highs, but I had to stay disciplined. Notwithstanding, I still had long positions in some companies with good balance sheets that will shoot back up once the virus has been contained. I buy the dips in these names as a way to reduce my cost average as well as buy good companies in trenches while volatility is still high.

I don't know about others, but any day the DJIA, NASDAQ and SPY falls 13% you bet I'm buying. To me any daily drop between 5-10% in the DOW is a buying opportunity. We are 30% down from the highs in such a short period of time. This isn't 2008 with credit crunch, where banks were lending sub prime loans to people with poor credit who simply couldn't afford it. This isn't the year 2000 where stocks were overvalued and the dot-com bubble burst, most of the big tech companies today actually have earnings to justify their valuation. This isn't the Great Depression of 1929 which was brought about by the 1st world war.

Nobody can predict the bottom, and if the stock market goes lower another 20% from here, I wouldn't be mad because I have a long term view and I will be buying all the way down but selectively. Will I buy the airlines, cruise , casino and entertainment stocks now? Probably not. But does Microsoft at $137, Facebook at $148, Starbucks at $60, JP morgan at $90 and Verizon at $51 look juicy? Yes. I have a small short term portfolio I use to test strategies, buy volatile biotech stocks and play options, I don't hold those positions too long. I might even buy cruise ships in the next sell off, hope for a bounce the next day and close that position. One guy on this thread made money buying the beat down oil stocks and more than doubling his money the next day.

Nobody should invest cash they might need next week or next month unless you only plan to hold for a few days. Long term investors should not panic sell, continue to buy in trenches as this too shall pass. But ultimately, everyone is responsible for their own trading, do your own research.

The SPY dropped 10% this morning. I think that's overdone but in scary times people trade irrationally. I bought 1 SPY call, I'm basically hoping that the spy bounces from these lows. Trump is expected to address the press in about 5hrs, just 30minites before the market closes. On Friday's close, the market rallied hard when Trump declared a national emergency and promised $50 billion in relief. Over the weekend the feds slashed interest rates to 0 but the market still sold off. I don't think the government can do anything to stop the market slide, not until the virus has been contained. Anyway, I'm hoping for a chance that the the market cuts its loss towards the end of trading today, then I will sell the call option.

Another down day boys. Feds slashing rates to zero did not boost the market. At this point maybe it's best they close the market until this virus peaks. Kinda similar to how China closed their stock market for about 11 days. But I highly doubt this will happen.

Sorry brother I initial wrote what I wanted to do when I read through this stock that I am buying lower stocks and sell hwen higher but I deleted it because I am a novice and don't want to bring up something that may make people lose. I can't keep it to myself when it worked than to say it and and how I did it. There are still more stocks less than 1 dollar in there just go for the lowest first to the highest but should not be up to 1 dollar. Its fifty fifty chance cos if the company could not drive up the stock to one naira the get deregistered and the inflow of money to the company from public would stop. But I am only buying oil and gas

Bro we are all here to learn. Believe me even the so called wall street experts don't always get it right and sometimes the average person outperforms them. Just post, we may learn something from it or critique it but at the end of the day everyone is responsible for their own trading. That's a really nice pop in Chesapeake. Congrats

A once in a lifetime wealth transfer opportunity.
May take another decade or more to get such opportunities in the market.

This is historic bro. Like a time will come when your children will ask you where you were and what were you doing during this historic selloff. I want to tell them I didn't panic sell everything and actually made some money even in the selloff.

In layman terms, for our fellow readers?

Oh I was basically saying the company pays investors 4% dividend every 3 months. Also the stock price was at $297 in 2015 ut it has dropped to $48.

Wow what a huge gain... Congrats bro but you get mind o

Na luck bro. This market is unpredictable. But I just feel like Disney has much more to lose. They operate Parks, Cruises and make movies. If people are stuck at home out of fear of the virus, those business sectors will suffer and it will reflect in the upcoming earnings report. If they come out and announce that they will be closing Disney World in Florida, this stock will drop like a rock. There's so much fear in the market now, people overreact.

I appreciate your detailed response, it provides room for learning. My primary concern was when you posted that it is on your long term watchlist. The ROE for this stock is good but their debt remains a worry for me. I appreciate that there are several ways to skin a cat (metaphorically) when it comes to analyzing stocks. It is a red flag for me when I find that it would take a company more than 3 years to pay off its Long Term debt with last years' earnings for a Long term strategy.

The bolded is sound advice as well. Coat-tailing the most famous investor still breathing is never a bad strategy.

I misread, their debt to equity ratio is worst than 90% of other companies in the credit space shocked Their 4.4% dividend yield and the fact that the stock price is now $48 compared to just May last year where it was $180.

Just checking if you have had time to take a look at this? I am looking more at the airlines just like our 'grandfather'.

I just checked now and it's not so bad. Their debt to equity ratio is currently 6.58 or lower than 90% of companies in the credit space.

Honestly If you are a long term investor, even buying stocks last week where prices were higher than they are today still wouldnt be a bad entry point when you look back a year from now. Long term investors shouldn't worry about all the noise in the market. I have my retirement and long term accounts I put money into every pay period, I hardly sell and usually buy the dips. So to answer your question, buying the airlines at these levels wouldnt be so bad but strongly believe we will have opportunities to buy them cheaper. Warren Buffet has the cash to provide a low interest loan to the airlines in exchange for stock equity at a lower price. This is the same thing he did in 2011 when his company Berkshire provided Bank of America a $5 billion relief in exchange of $5 billion worth of stock at $7.14 a peice plus a 6% yield. BAC stock price was as high as $35 last month, the $5 billion investment was worth $25 billion at one point and that's not including the compound dividend yield.

All I'm saying is we will get better opportunities to buy the most affected stocks like the cruise lines, airlines, entertainment industries retail and even the energy stocks.

I picked up a short position in Disney two days ago and its I'm up 149%. VXX up 730%. RIP to my Moderna (MRNA) position.

I'm really loving ZOOM (ZM) here (not the other zoom whose stock symbol is ZOOM), the stock has been resilient and will be in so much demand now movements are coming to a halt.

It is denying forum members useful information that could have helped them make profitable investment decisions.
This is counter-productive!!!

All the blaming is conspiracy. No one intentionally created and dispersed this virus. In future though, it will become a tool of terrorists. And the media is in no way blowing this out of proportion, though that's Trump's claim. It is not media that's increasing infection and death numbers, nor is it media causing oil price drops. In fact, most investors knew the market was an unsustainable bubble and Covid19 is just the needle that's burst it.

You are right. Look where we are now. Lord help us.

Oil price affects US as well as countries like ours. US can't produce shale at such low prices so have to import, and we can't survive on such low prices neither, but it seems the market is not yet pricing in the full effect.

I'm expecting job losses, default on loans (consumer as well as corporate), lower revenues and significant job losses.

Shorts own this market! In fact, if I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say Covid 19 is a ploy to destroy Trump!

Spot on. Although I'm not too sure If it is a ploy to destroy Trump though. In fact China also blamed the U.S for releasing the corona virus as a way to slow down their economy. What is suspicious though is how the media is blowing this thing out if proportion abs causing mass hysteria; it might hurt Trump's reelection prospects.

Talk about the perfect storm
Oil prices dropped as much as 30% ( the biggest selloff since the first Gulf war in 1991)
Over the weekend Italy quarantined 16 million italians or a quarter of its population
More corona virus infections pop up around the world
South Korea detects 3 unidentified missiles fired from North Korea

We will hear all the doomsayers come out in full force after today's selloff. No one knows where this market is going, but we will continue to screen for winners even as fear grips the market.

Thanks to the crazy volatility, my VXX call is up 402%. I may keep playing volatility until it becomes too expensive. The circuit breakers are holding all trading for 15 minutes. I think the only time I've witnessed this halt in trading was in 2016 when Trump was declared president-elect, the market didn't expect it and people feared for the worst.

Who's your broker? What did they charge you?

My brokerage charges no fees for stocks, this is the reason I can buy just 1 share and not worry about commission. Prior to Nov last year though, they used to charge $7 to buy and another $7 to sell, so that's a total of $14. I used to buy larger amounts and hold for a significant number of time just to recuperate my fees, but now I can ease into a stock I like without opening a large position.

There is uncertainty in the market right now so we just access different stocks and sectors every day and decide what we like. I don't know any canadian Brokerage but I feel like they may be more lenient in allowing foreigners than U.S brokers.

That should be a concern if you think it is presently undervalued.

People of this great forum, I make bold to say that no matter how red the markets are, there are still sectors or companies making people rich.

I have learnt that with careful planning and study, no matter how bad a situation is in the market, winners can still be found.

And so today I'd like to let you in on a watchlist I have been working on, personally developed and called "Corona".
The name "Corona" as you may have guessed right simply means in this era of this virus, they will continue to win.

It is amazing to realise that while other known major names are bleeding red wine in the market, the entire watchlist is green today.

I am already working on another I called "Post-Corona"...your guess is as good as mine about why it is called so. grin

You may do your due diligence and decide on the attached list.
I am uploading it to serve as reference point as to how far they can climb if the virus continues to bite.

Its like the zombie apocalypse from movies. People are stocking up on tissue paper, Clorox wipes, canned foods and just about anything they will need if this thing becomes pandemic. Costco is sold out on these items. Imagine 6 months worth of inventory sold within a week. I just bought 1 share of Clorox (CLX), might buy costco (COST) as well. Trying to keep positions under $300 in these names for now. Up 71% in Inovio Pharmaceuticals (INO).

Investment / Re: Us Stocks Pick Alert by YerYer: 3:41pm On Mar 06, 2020
I'm tempted to short Cruise lines at this point. Not only are people canceling their bookings, those who have been brave enough to travel have been dealing with Corona virus exposure and ships prevented from docking due to the virus. It's just so expensive to short them now because they keep falling everyday.

Volatility has been so high. I will keep playing it. My TVIX call is up 155% so far.

I believe airlines still have much further to fall, being they are a huge vector in Covid19 spread.

Expect a rout in 2nd and third quarters when disappointing summer travel data is released, and airline bailouts before then.
