Giddyperson: Formula nko, how often is she expected to poo? Also ideally, how often should a one week old be fed, or is it just feeder's discretion. [s]i know I should move to the newborn thread but I like this place[/s] formula fed poos more often than breastmilk. Every 2hrs if she is on breastmilk, 3hrs if its formula cos formula takes more time to digest |

Both your sister and mother are adults are they not?
If she wants to get married, that is frankly her decision . if your mum decides to support her it is her decision as well.
there is only so much you can do. i understand your concern that she appears to be going to a marriage to someone that no one knows totally unprepared. you may not support her decision but you also cannot stop her from doing what she wants to do.
some people like to carry man on top their head like jackie-work and will fight with anyone who speaks against the relationship in any way even if it is totally justified. from what you have said your sister seems to be one of such people. unfortunately those type of people will only learn when they get badly burnt!
i do not know where you are from oh but generally it is the father's side that gives out the list, and recieves the gifts and gives out the bride traditionally. I take it your dad is not really involved however are they even considering speaking to his side of the family? or who will be representing the father of the bride on the day?
if your mum will not listen to your concerns, perhaps call another respected and trusted elderly family member or two to mediate on the matter and also so that you have witnesses to the issues that have been going on.
Then wash your hands off the matter and wish your sister well on her on-coming nuptials and marriage. tell them to send you invitation when the wedding plans has been concluded, since they have decided not to include you. sometimes things like this happen for your own benefit, if you have a baby and your own issues to deal with, adding another persons drama on top may not ideal for your own physical and metal well-being.
Finally put it to prayer that whatever decisions they make will be the right one for your sister.
On the day of the wedding, wear your party best and dance like there is no tomorrow.
You can only force a horse to the water, you cannot force it to drink. my uncle will stand in..We haven't spoken since the whole issue started |

Pls du not Quote or SHARE Since this thread has become my abide even while breastfeeding....I can share something with u all.
So I need godly and candid advice here
Found out my younger sister whom am 5yrs older than is planning her wedding ( I have no idea and dunno d guy) with my mum . I am the first, so I do most of the advicing and encouragement, got tired after I found out they had plans of the kind of life they wanna live. I backed out as it was leading to insult. My papa no get money and he doesn't care abt anyone, in my lil way I try to bring everyone together. She initially wanted to get married last two years and everyone kicked against it except my mama cos she was young and had nothing tangible doing ( no school,no handiwork) so that tomorrow them no go say she be liability. We wanted her to wait more, get mature probably enter school. My hubby never liked involving himself in our matter, but the marriage thing didn't go well with him, so he spoke to my mum and d lady and she said she had made up her mind and d answer my mum gave him wasn't nice, so he backed out. Now two yrs later, I hear say she still wan marry but someone else who is abt 15yrs older than her so I heard. She finally called a day to the day they were coming to collect list to inform me abt it. I just congratulated her and wished her well, although I had already heard it frm MIL ( my mum told her and she in turn told me) so I wasn't surprised.my MIL knew I was angry and calmed m down and adviced I speak with my mum abt it when she comes for omugwo, if she brings up the matter( the list collection made her come a week after delivered) which made m more angry. True to my suspicion she never brought up the matter till after a month I personally brought it up and she said it wasn't yet time for me to know abt the marriage. Fortunately, the list collection didn't hold cos no one knew abt the guy and his people including my mum although they speak on phone. I blatantly told her she was wrong to have accepted to collect list for the guy when u know nothing abt him. Now, I hear the girl is making full plans to marry. And the way everything is, I do not want to get involved in the marriage thing as she herself doesn't want m involved. What would u do if u were in my shoes? |

feddy27: Ok mamas, let's have a discussion!!!!
RETURNING TO WORK AFTER MATERNITY LEAVE
It's always a period of mixed feeling returning to work and leaving you lil one under the care of home nannies or crèches.
I would like us to discuss how we managed it, share tips that will be helpful for other mamas here.
So I will go first: For both babies, I resumed when they were 2 months + cos I took my maternity leave earlier to aid my travel plans. I normally leave my babies with a nanny at my gran's house so she supervises them.
Some things I did that helped me:
1. I resume on a Friday ! Yes, so that once the pressure starts coming, next is weekend to cool my head. Also, it helps to reduce separation anxiety
2. I breast feed in the morning before going out, baby takes formula till lunch break when I get back home to feed, she continues with formula till I'm back home by 4. From 4pm till daybreak, we do only breast milk.
3. Have a discussion with your boss to either resume 1hour late or close 1hour early. This will really be helpful. I chose to resume by 8am and close by 4 while my colleague chose to resume at 7am and close by 3pm
4. When you get back home, try spend some time bonding with your baby. Forget plates that have not been washed etc
5. Weekends is for I and the children.. I try to make up for my absence during the week. I take them out or stay all day at home with them
6. Try and take each day as it comes. Don't over stress yourself or feel like a bad mom! NO!!! You are doing a good job
7. I don't take work home for any reason! This is a personal rule I put for myself since I started having babies. Wateva I can't achieve between 8am - 4pm remains till the next day. As I shut down my system, I also shut down my "work mind"
I will add more as I remember.
Other mamas should please share their experiences we can all learn and help others exactly what I need now as am applying for a new job |

Health › Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Yesitsme(f): 9:28am On Apr 25, 2017 |
babyboom: i see, but why did you stop? my dear, u dont stop at all, i didnt stop until, i was sure he was almost near his age- birth weight. when my husband told me to stop stressing myself, i thought he was okay until i noticed that when i expressed i dint get the much i used to get, so i stopped direct b.feeding again. i started expressing to build the supply.
so my sister, if u cant get up too what u got previously, it means she is not sucking well. if it was my ped, u were working with. he will just admit u again, cos when we were discharged, he said if there was no weight gain, he will admit me and the nurses will take over. that spurred me into action.
please dont get tired friend, if i have ur number will speak to u directly. so if I start expressing again it will rush? |

brownsugars: Don't be depressed ok, I know how hard it can be. Just pray and do what you can, there'll be great improvement by God's grace.
What you can do is instead of just putting her to the breast alone, why not try pumping constantly say every 2-3hours if you can (even if nothing much comes out), to establish a very good flow first. Then try feeding her more often say every 1-2hours because of the weight issue. You can present bottle (expressed BM or formula) with a bit reduced qty of food every 1 or 2 hours and see if she'll accept. If she finishes and seems to want more, you give. You mustn't stick to the conventional every 3hours feeding schedule. She might just have a very quick metabolic rate and needs to feed sooner. Also some babies will eat more food when presented with bottle than breast. My Lo is a typical example. He's ready to spend 2hours on my breast but at the end of the day he's only sucked say 2oz and my breast will still be heavy with milk. I had to start expressing and giving him from bottle in between breast feedings and it made a whole lot of difference. Also remember failure to empty your breasts frequently will make your system readjust and reduce the rate of production. You can put her to breast intermittently between bottlefeedings. Ie if you bottle feed now, try putting to breast in the next 1 to 1.5hrs and see if she's going to suck. If she doesn't, wait a while and try again or bottle feed. Keep doing it till you guys establish a perfect and working feeding routine.
Because of the weight too, you might have to also continue with the formula until things stabilize unless you have very sufficient BM. Pls be practical about it, things will improve hopefully. that's what I have been doing that brought us this far.... Thanks a million |

Try Switch roles a few weekends.... let hubby handle the baby at night, you move to another room to get a good nights uninterrupted sleep in preparation for early morning activities . I will assure you that he will appreciate you better when next you say you are tired. he helps most times he wakes up by 1am to 2am got m to sleep...He works Monday to Saturday so no gree weekend |

babyboom: i replied you the last time, what worked for me. let me explain again, try and express the milk at day, to guage what she is eating.you can let her suck at night if u don't have strength to express you can even feed with cup and spoon. you might think she is sucking and she is not even latching well. so Ma, the ball is in your court. she is latching very well now .. That's exactly what I did that increased her weight, she takes 120ml at a stretch every 3hrs. Now I can't express lil or nothing comes out. Although when she finish sucking her mouth is very wet. I browsed and saw its normal. All I want is for her to suck directly and only breastmilk |

As for kpekus i never even make attempt ,where is the time or strength im all alone with no helper PED didnt really have much to say sef. As at last Monday she was 3.1kg. the Dr said I should keep doing what I was doing to make her put on weight...H said w should do FBC not like she isn't eating. Am actually depressed right now the feeding thing is weighing m down . She is sucking now but I don't know if she is getting enough milk as she can stay on it for hours non stop and still collect formula .. Not encouraging. Although she looks bigger. As for kpekus, if hubby run tub from back I no answer, the guy go climb do him thing while am sleeping.its that bad |
