Politics / Why Is Nwajiuba Running From Court Of Appeal? By Temple Okonji by Yeskem: 10:22pm On Jun 28, 2019
We have learnt not to categorize politicians by their words alone. According to Oliver Wendell Holmes, ” in the free market of ideas , truth will grapple with falsehood, but truth will ultimately triumph “. Lord Atkins in the famous case of UAC vs. MCFOY, declared in judicial immortality that , ” one cannot build on nothing, expecting same to stand. And illegality however long tolerated cannot transform to legality “. And truth remains constant even without promoters and defenders and cheerleaders !

There is such thing as “empty claims” and often times, it is a neighbour to a clanging cymbal – wherever you see one, you see the other.

In very short and quick succession, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba has shown himself to be everything but his high-sounding claims.

The high standing of integrity he claims is as false as his over-hyped closeness with the highest of influential and powerful personalities and interests in Nigeria and beyond.

And so against all expectations, residents were treated to a mild drama, very despicable twist on Tuesday, June 25 , 2019 in the morning hours at the Gudu District of Abuja residence of the “Hon”. Emeka Nwajiuba as he was holed up in his house for hours in a desperate attempt to evade service of Court processes.

Trouble started when a Bailiff, Usman Mohammed, from the Court of Appeal arrived the residence at Bamanga Tukur Street, Plot 1268, Gudu District, FCT, Abuja, to serve the “Hon”. Nwajiuba with some Court processes. In the worst of professional relationship and existence, even the lawyers who had represented his interest at the High Court of the FCT in Kubwa from where the appeal to the Court of Appeal originated, had rejected and resisted the service of the Court processes. According to the legal practitioner who handled the matter for Nwajiuba at the Lower Court, and which judgement founded the appeal for which the processes are served from the Court of Appeal, there is no valid instruction to act for him at the Court of Appeal. This is possibly true, but deeply laughable.

On this premise , and in view of the need for service to be undertaken on him personally, the Court Bailiff arrived his house just at day break . And it was confirmed that he was in the residence. All efforts to get him to come out to receive the processes failed, but the resilient Bailiff stood his ground that he would not leave until he effected service.

The BAILIFF waited for over seven (7) hours until thugs loyal to the ” Hon “. Nwajiuba emerged to threaten and harass the Bailiff. He was told to proceed to Nwajiuba’s office address at TETFUND to effect the service there. And one is tempted to ask if Nwajiuba remains and functions as the Chairman of the TETFUND , even upon the disputed inauguration as a Member of the National Assembly , Abuja in June 11 , 2019. This is another twist in the evolving political drama in the circumstances! Interestingly, the Court Bailiff clinically chronicled his sordid and sore experience in the hands of Nwajiuba and his paid thugs as evident in the supporting AFFIDAVIT!!!

It will be recalled that ” Hon ” . Emeka Nwajiuba inspite of his now false posturing as the extension of Buhari and the Presidency in Imo State , lost the primaries of the APC, instigated crises in the party and fled to the Accord Party, and also lost again to the APC Candidate in the general election . Without recourse to decency and decorum, Nwajiuba eventually , though patently defective, found a way to surreptitiously obtain an Order from the High Court in Kubwa.

The Judgement and the subsequent consequential Order(s) secured on different dates outside the mandatory 180 days as required by the combined provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended as well as the Electoral Act , 2010 as amended, have been the subject of intense litigation , and is currently pending before the Court of Appeal.

Perhaps, in the estimation of the ” Hon “. Emeka Nwajuba, he believes that by merely evading service, he would frustrate the case at the Court of Appeal. How wrong he was! His stunt a few days ago, was so far embarrassing, unbecoming of a Federal Lawmaker in Nigeria!

And in the shameful drama, one is therefore, left to wonder why a man who has nothing to hide, would elect to scram under the bed.

Politics / Drama As Rep. Emeka Nwajiuba Evades Service Of Court Process by Yeskem: 8:48pm On Jun 27, 2019
Drama as Rep. Emeka Nwajiuba evades service of court process as APC, Okafor approach Court of Appeal

There was a mild drama on Wednesday at the Gudu residence of the member representing, Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo Federal Constituency of Imo State, Rep. Emeka Nwajiuba, as he refused to step out of his home in an attempt to evade service of court processes.

Trouble started when a bailiff from the Court of Appeal, Mr. Usman Mohammed arrived Nwajiuba’s residence to serve him with some court processes.

Frontline News Online gathered that the court bailiff arrived the Imo lawmaker’s home early in the morning house just and he was informed that member was still at home.

However, thing changed when the Mohammed’s mission was made known and all efforts to get the lawmaker to come out to receive the court processes was rebuffed, but the resilient bailiff insisted that he would not leave until he effects service. This led to the bailiff waiting for over 7 hours until a group of unruly young men emerged to threaten and harass him.

One of the less aggressive youths, who appeared at the member’s house told the bailiff proceed to Nwajiuba’s office address at TETFUND Abuja headquarters to effect the service there. The lawmaker who defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to Accord Party to run for the House of Representatives was appointed chairman of TETFUND by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2017.

Politics / Emeka Nwajuiba’s Actions Robbed South-east Of Speakership-okafor by Yeskem: 12:05pm On Jun 17, 2019
There was a lot of talk around Hon. Nwajiuba after he was recognized by INEC, that he could spring a surprise in the contest for the office of Speaker. Now that Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila is the new Speaker, what do you make of the pre-election hype around the man representing your constituency?

Let me start from the foundation to say that Nwajiuba was supposed to a long standing member of the APC. But his actions have cost our party and its supporters in Imo and the South-East a whole lot. He just might have cost the South-East the opportunity to gain much in House. We heard a lot of false promises back home, things like President Buhari asked him to defect to Accord Party and then that the President promised him the he would be made Speaker. A lot of disaffection was created back home with all of the falsehood and the situation is worse now as its glaring that the promise of speakership was untrue. Honestly, if my brother Emeka Nwajiuba had been elected as Speaker or Deputy Speaker, I wouldn’t have gone on appeal. The election was shown live on TV and we saw how he (Nwajiuba) was anonymous. This is in great contrast to 2015, when as a new member I seconded the nomination for Hon. Yakubu Dogara, who eventually emerged Speaker. I came close to being a principal officer, but due to the fact that I was a first term lawmakers I was denied. You will recall that immediately I declared for Speaker, the South-East Caucus of the APC met in Enugu where they stated their support and I was applauded. So his actions dented the popularity of my party in my constituency, state and zone because we have suffered a setback with the loss of better placed candidate for the office of Speaker or Deputy Speaker.

Politics / APC, Okafor Ask Court Of Appeal To Sack Nwajiuba by Yeskem: 7:30pm On Jun 16, 2019
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Chike Okafor have approached the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal to nullify the judgment of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that produced Emeka Nwajuba of the Accord Party, as the member Representing Ehime Mbank /Ihite Uboma /Obowo Federal constituency of Imo State.
The action is contained in their separate notices of appeals filed before the appellate court against rulings of the FCT High Court which gave rise to the issuance of certificate of return to Nwajuba by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Justice Bello Kawau of the Bwari division of the FCT High Court had in its order made on February 12, 2019, barred INEC, from accepting or listing the candidate of the APC in the rescheduled National Assembly election.

Politics / Diabolical Conspiracies Against Hon. Chike Okafor by Yeskem: 9:25am On Jun 16, 2019
A judgement against a non – existent party or a party unknown to law is incurably defective, without remedies, obviously void and null without more. Then, who ordered the hurriedly executed action of the INEC against the right of the Hon. Chike Okafor , and for what political purposes? Was the execution of an incurably defective judgement right in law? The clearest answer is an emphatic no, as Lord Atkin had declared in the case of UAC vs. Mcfoy that ” illegality does not beget legality ; that one cannot build on nothing, and expect same to stand “!!!
Fourth, assuming without conceding that the Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba was the rightful candidate of the APC but was later substituted , which was not anyway, at all material times, would the rights of Nwajiuba in the APC candidacy subsist in perpetuity, even upon his defection to another political party through which he participated in the main election, still losing to the APC and the Hon. Chike Okafor ? The answer to the poser is a loudest no, negative response, because the defection renders dead, and further nullifies all the interests and rights vested in Nwajiuba in relation to the candidacy of the APC for the said Federal Constituency.

Health / I Only Told God I Wanted Twins-father Of Abuja Quadruplets by Yeskem: 2:14pm On Nov 04, 2018
Mr. Ernest Amodu and his wife Temitope welcomed an all-girl quadruplets on Thursday 25th of October.

Amodu told Frontline News Online that he prayed for a set of twins to join his three year old son, but he is happy to be the father of the babies delivered through a Cesarean section at the National Hospital.

Quadruplets are much rarer than twins or triplets. As of 2007, there were approximately 3500 sets recorded worldwide.

Quadruplet births are becoming increasingly common due to fertility treatments. There are around 70 sets of all-identical quadruplets worldwide.

Amodu quadruplets
But like the news making all-girl Udehi quintuplets, who were also born at the National Hospital Abuja in 2017, the Amodu quadruplets are a surprise package as they were conceived naturally.

The arrival of the quadruplets born pre-term at seven months has completely changed the lives of Ernest a personnel of National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) stationed in Ondo State and his wife Temitope, who teaches in a private school in Abuja.

Amodu said: “You know it is not easy providing for one child in Nigeria. You can now imagine how tough it is proving for four newborns. Our responsibility has quadrupled with the coming of our babies. I see things becoming even more taxing for us. In fact, the doctors told us that our apartment is not conducive for our newborns.

“We stay in a two- bedroom apartment. It’s not one that I would readily call a two bedroom flat. The doctors advised that the basic we need is an apartment where we have a room for the babies, a room for their stay-in care givers and a room for ourselves. Then I wish we could afford a better car because we are just managing the small one we have. Above all, we are going to get caregivers for the quadruplets and we have to pay them. In any area that good Samaritans can help us, we will be grateful”.

Celebrities / Why I Don’t Joke With ‘sh*ting'-anthony Joshua Nigerian Boxing Champion by Yeskem: 1:26pm On Aug 21, 2018
With as much as you eat during camp, do you still follow a similar regimen throughout the year?

Yeah. I take my shit seriously. I don’t eat white rice, cheese, or gluten. Everything I eat flows through my body well, so I keep a good weight. I’m don’t eat spicy foods, or things that make me feel bloated. I’m eating well even when I’m not training.

All of that comes from experience. It doesn’t happen overnight. I’ve always been quite conscious of what I put in my body. Now, there are so many ways to eat healthy: vegetarian, veganism, pescetarianism. Everyone is talking about trends like these, and I’m quite aware of them. By doing my research, I get to see maximum improvements from what I eat.

When you first start fighting, it happens every month or every other month, so you have to stay active. Then, you get to the stage where you’re fighting three times a year, with months off in between. But staying at your fight weight is the only way to be a champion for more than one or two defenses. You have to stay ready.

Politics / NHIS Executive-secretary Yusuf, Directors Fight Over Allegations Of Fraud by Yeskem: 9:24pm On Aug 13, 2018
The crisis rocking the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) seems not have abated , with the Executive Secretary, Prof. Usman Yusuf and the immediate past, Acting Executive Secretary of the agency, Mr. Attahiru Ibrahim, exchanging accusations of fraud.

Yusuf , who was recently reinstated by President Muhammadu Buhari, to the chagrin of unions in the agency had asked the NHIS Governing Council chaired by Dr. Enyatu Ifenne to take disciplinary actions against Ibrahim and three other directors.

The NHIS, Executive-Secretary alleged that the top management officials paid upfront a lawyer they engaged to defend the agency in a case instituted by immediate past E.S of the agency, Femi Thomas, over his removal in April 2015, Premium Times reports.

In December 2017, the National Industrial Court gave judgment in favour of Mr Thomas, ruling that N172.1 million be paid to him as his emoluments for the remaining four years of his tenure.

But Ibrahim as Acting head of NHIS hired a lawyer, Yunus Usman, to appeal the judgment and paid him N44 million as fee. This action has been described as fraudulent by Yusuf, who took the matter to the governing council of the agency, arguing that four directors had acted contrary to procurement laws, paying the lawyer’s fee upfront.

The four directors in response to an Establishment Committee set-up to look into the matter countered Yusuf, saying he has no case and is simply on a witch-hunt.

Politics / Buhari Administration Most Corrupt In Recent History-rep. T.J Yusuf by Yeskem: 10:54pm On Jul 30, 2018
Many believe that the PDP will implode with the number of heavyweights angling for its presidential ticket. How will your party cross this hurdle?

What I know is that once you have the kind of coalition the PDP has gone into, it’s natural to have people with ambition. But people know that the presidency is a seat, not a bench or bed. If it’s a bench, it can take four people. But the president sits on a chair. Can’t you remember the number of people that ran for APC’s presidential ticket? Only one person emerged, for me it’s good for the opposition to have many presidential aspirants. But once one person emerges, I believe all those involved are mature, so they should support him. My position is that all those aspiring for the PDP ticket are much better than what we have now. I therefore will support whoever emerges. What I hate the most is hypocrisy. This government marketed anti-corruption as its main agenda. They told the whole world, they are a purist government. But I have realised this is most corrupt regime we’ve ever had. People should commit themselves to ensuring this common enemy is taken out. Nigerians as a people have never been this divided.

Do you agree with Senator Kwankwaso’s theory that for the PDP to defeat Buhari, its candidate must come from one of the ‘K’ states?

What we need is a candidate, that we all will agree to work for. Buhari wouldn’t have gotten the votes he recorded in the southern states, without the people who worked for him. When you emerge as a party’s candidate, it is not your acceptability alone, that will get to there. When you become the party’s candidate, people will begin to donate their own goodwill. If we get our candidate from one of the ‘k’ states fine! But if we don’t get our candidate from one of the ‘k’ states, Kwankwaso should also donate his goodwill.

Politics / Apc’ll Win Imo Governorship With Uche Nwosu-rep. Okafor by Yeskem: 6:28pm On Jul 29, 2018
With the congresses producing officials picked by Gov. Okorocha, it seems he is poised to deliver his son in-law as governorship candidate. But do you see APC winning Imo, if the governor fields the young man?

I disagree with you that the governor is set to deliver his son in-law. I rather put it this way, that APC in Imo State is set to present Uche Nwosu as candidate for governorship, come 2019. That’s the truth. It is just a coincidence that Uche Nwosu happens to be a son in-law to the governor. The quest for Uche Nwosu didn’t start with Rochas Okorocha. It started from the party. We have 27 LGAs. The last time I checked before the congresses, 24 of our 27 LG party leadership had done rallies in the local government areas, they came to the Government House to tell the governor that it was Uche Nwosu they wanted. So, Uche Nwosu is the choice of the party. And what makes it a lot more appealing is that Uche Nwosu has been embraced by the youths, the younger generation in Imo State. So what we have at hand now in Imo State is that, Uche Nwosu is the choice of the people and Rochas Okorocha had little option but to align himself with the people.
