PoliticsPresident Buhari Must Intervene In APC Crisis-rep. Chike Okafor by Yeskem(op):
Member Representing Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/ Obowo, Federal Constituency of Imo State, Rep. Chike Okafor, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the crisis rocking the ruling, All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okafor in a statement entitled, ‘APC Crisis: Where Are The Leaders Of Our Party?’, stressed the importance of the President intervening , as the party may not survive the different actions taken by members of the National Working Committee of recent.

Recall that on Tuesday the Court of Appeal upheld the suspension of APC former national chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole as a member of the party. In a unanimous judgment of a three-man panel led by Justice Eunice Onyemanam, the Court of Appeal affirmed the earlier March 4, 2020 order of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Jabi, Abuja, suspending Oshiomhole and barring him from continuing to parade himself as the national chairman of the party.

Following Oshimhole’s suspension, Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Victor Giadom, declared himself acting national chairman of the party. Giadom also called for a fresh screening of APC governorship aspirants for the Edo State governorship election.

His actions were swiftly rejected by the National Working Committee, which announced its Deputy National Chairman (South), Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as its acting National Chairman. This announcement again saw Deputy National chairman, Mr. Hillard Eta announcing himself as acting on behalf of Ajimobi who is believed to be treating COVID-19 in a Lagos hospital.

Okafor described happenings in the ruling party in the last 48 hours as highly worrisome, pointing to the need for presidential intervention. He also called on other leaders of the party such as Vice –President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Dr. Ahmed Lawan, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila and members of the Federal Executive Council to step in to save the party.

The former chairman House Committee on Healthcare Services blamed the crisis rocking the ruling party on the personal interests of some leaders of the party ahead of 2023 polls.

The statement read in part: “In the last few days our great party has become the talking point and of course the byword for all that is wrong in party politics. Whether rightly or wrongly, the incontrovertible truth is that our party is slipping.

“From the President, the Vice President, the Senate President, the Speaker, the Deputy Senate President, the Deputy Speaker, and indeed all members of the 9th National Assembly and the Governors under our party ,APC from across the six geopolitical zones, ministers, the members of the National Executive Council (NEC), NWC and all the ruling organs of our party and indeed to every other category of leader in our great party, it's time to take charge as leaders. It's time to take action”.

According to the lawmaker, failure to solve the problems currently confronting the party may lead to failure in 2023.

“True enough, interests can come in conflict and ambitions can cross paths, yet we all have a meeting point and which is - our party platform. We cannot afford to ruin that platform in pursuit of such interests and ambitions.

CrimeHigh Points Of My Leadership Of Nscdc-abdullahi Gana by Yeskem(op): 11:53pm On Jun 04, 2020
Abdullahi Mohammed Gana was appointed as Commandant General of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in July 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari. His appointment was greeted with celebration at the headquarters of the NSCDC. Five years after, Gana has a sprawling new headquarters, 13 State Commands and the establishment of the Agro-Rangers and mining protection sector units as some of his achievements. In this interview with, KEMI YESUFU, the NSCDC C-G gives insight into his tenure, the challenges he has faced and why he prioritized the training and discipline of his personnel.

When you started your career in the NSCDC, did you envisage your becoming C-G?

I was a banker. I rose to level of a branch manager in Port-Harcourt. My banking career saw me working in places like Onitsha, Jos and Lagos as a manager. In Lagos, I was walking around Kingsway Road Ikoyi, with my cousin and I saw an old man walking with this ‘red neck’ (points to uniform collar). I told my cousin, that I liked the uniform the old man wore. He dismissed my admiration, saying ‘Those people are touts’. I never knew it was destiny calling me. After some years, I just found myself registering as volunteer in the corps before the law to make it part of government was enacted. I never dreamt of being the CG of the NSDC, but God willed it and today I am doing my best to justify the confidence reposed in me.

After 53 years of NDSDC, what would you list as pivotal moments in your history?

Most people are not aware of the International Civil Defence Organisation based in Geneva. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is the Nigerian chapter of the International Civil Defence Organization. The mandate worldwide for civil defence corps is disaster management, both for man- made and natural disaster. In Nigeria, the civil defence corps was born out of necessity. It was created during the Nigerian civil war in 1967. It was given three mandates. First was it was to cater for injured soldiers from the war front. Second was teaching the civil populace precautionary measures in case of emergencies. Thirdly, it served as a reservoir for the military. This is why the bond between the military and the civil defence is tight. It is like a relationship between a father and child. So, we celebrated the 53rd anniversary of the corps in Nigeria and we look back at how we started as a voluntary origination, outside of government and today the corps is not only part of government, its mandate is wider. In fact, we do all we can to meet up with the expectations of the public, as more people now recognize our contributions to the peace and stability of the country.

In Nigeria, people now realise what civil defence is all about, like some other parts of the world, a good example of such places in RUSSIA. I was in RUSSIA for three weeks. There they have the ministry of Civil Defence, they have the University of Civil Defence. For the three weeks I spent in the country, I didn’t see the police until the day I was leaving. So, everything that has to do with the civil society is done by Civil Defence. We are doing more to enlighten Nigerians on the real roles of the corps, I am sure with time, the recognition of our role will improve. But when you look the corps from 1967 to 2003 when the bill establishing the NSCDC was passed into law, in less than 20 years we have achieved a lot.

From 1967 till date would you say the corps has achieved its mandate?

Looking at it first from our international mandate, you know in Nigeria we have the National Emergency Agency (NEMA). But the NSCDC is the only organization of government that has about 10,000 personnel dedicated to disaster management. We are the only organization that has a directorate for crisis management. We have achieved a lot in terms of our international mandate, especially as we work hand –in-hand with NEMA.

How did you instill discipline within your rank and file?

The watchword of every uniformed organization is discipline. This is achieved through training. We place premium on training and retraining our men. We a product of the Nigerian military, ninety-five percent of our training is handled by the military. Even our recent training of ‘Agro-Rangers’ done in Katsina State was handled by the military.

CrimeCOVID-19 : NSCDC Personnel Have Orders To Handle Public With Civility-c-g by Yeskem(op):
COVID-19 : NSCDC personnel have orders to handle public with civility-C-G, Abdullahi Muhammadu

Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, on Thursday appealed to the public to cooperate fully with security personnel on duty to enforce the Covid-19 lockdown as ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari and some state governors.

Muhammadu who gave a pass mark to personnel of the NCDC on duty across the country, told Frontline News Online in an exclusive interview on Thursday in Abuja, that the eleven thousand personnel from the NSCDC sent out to play the role of enforcement of rules during the lockdown were given orders to treat anyone they encounter with civility.

He said: “We met with the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 and the role assigned to us is that of enforcement. In carrying out this assignment, I cautioned those sent out to be civil with the public. In fact, I didn’t send any armed personnel out for the enforcement of the COVID-19 lockdown. I instructed that no one on COVID-19 lockdown enforcement should carry arms and this instruction is fully obeyed.

“We are all over the country for this assignment. Initially, I deployed 9,500 personnel. But we soon realised the need to add more personnel to achieve the aims of the Federal Government to stop the transmission of the virus through an effective lockdown. So I sent out an additional number of two thousand NSCDC personnel. As I speak with you we have over eleven thousand personnel enforcing the lockdown”.

PoliticsCOVID-19 Pandemic Opportunity For Nigeria To Restructure-tope Fasua by Yeskem(op): 1:23am On May 11, 2020
Presidential candidate of the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) for the 2019 election, Mr. Tope Fasua, speaks about a better Nigeria with passion. His campaign dubbed the revolution of ideas saw him traversing 33 states.

While many backed the COVID-19 lockdown ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari and governors in affected states, Fasua, an economist and businessman, strongly advocated for a reopening of economy, saying Nigerians many of whom operate in the informal should return to work to keep the country afloat.

In this interview with KEMI YESUFU, he speaks on the way out of the many challenges Nigeria’s faces, advising that the Federal Government invest in a foundation of human capital development. Fasua an author of six books also believes the global COVID-19 lockdown, which saw oil prices crash to an unprecedented low, leaving Nigeria’s economy in dire straits presents an opportunity for the actual restructuring the country needs.

You canvassed the reopening of the economy after weeks of the COVID-19 lockdown. Do you stand by your call, seeing the chaos that followed the first two to three days of the reopening, as well as the number of new cases of the disease on a daily basis?

I don’t know what will happen to change my position. But for now, I stand by it. The chaos that followed last Monday and Tuesday should have told us that what we did was right. Imagine the thousands of people that besieged the banks. A lot of them were at the bank to collect the little money they had, some were at the banks to get their ATM. All the while they were at home in agony. What kills more than loneliness and agony? We heard of one or two people slumping at the bank.

People fail to see the connection between economy, finance and health. But there is a very strong connection. Many people could have developed different ailments stuck at home. Many people hadn’t seen their loved ones for weeks. You saw a lot of people walking through Asaba and Onitsha to meet their loved ones because the Niger Bridge was shut for days. So, I stand by my advocacy of opening the economy, not because I believe the economy is more important than health. But also because as documented, in that interregnum where people were locked down in their houses things happened that weren’t documented. One, a lot people were afraid of visiting hospitals, out of the fear of COVID-19 and the inability to move. Therefore, they didn’t take care of their health. Globally, we heard of the increase in domestic violence, child abuse or people dying of other diseases in their homes. The reopening of the economy came as a huge relief for many. I saw the mama put with people around them selling their food down the road. Where were people like them during the lockdown? We saw the people at the banks; you then ask who did government give the palliatives? How was the money meant for palliatives spent?

Your answer focused more on the human aspect of the COVID-19 lockdown. As an economist, I thought you would be more concerned about the dire straits Nigeria has found itself in. We have crashed oil prices; the Federal Government has taken huge loans, as well as resorting to the taking from the rainy day fund managed by the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority…..

It’s still all about the human factor. Like I said earlier, we fail to see the link between economics, finance and health. Aside from this, the issues you raised are part of my concerns. The skies are falling. We have the scenario where crude oil price fell. This is the only thing that Nigeria sells. Not only was the price of crude oil down, our government agencies went to sleep for weeks. The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) knows people won’t pay tax this year. Where will they get the money from? FIRS was sending out tweets for people to pay their taxes in advance. But they can see that they are going to miss their target by a mile this year. So, the model of shutdown wasn’t well thought out globally. I have heard it said that this (pandemic) is a war. Do you sleep through a war? Who are those fighting on our behalf? Now the question is, how does Nigeria get out of this? We have a scenario where the current situation is still being treated like a partisan issue. There is no broad based coalition of people with ideas on what we can do. No matter how they want to do it, my message is that we have to be equitable. Whatever we have to share, we need to think of the estimated 200 million people in Nigeria. We should focus on the most vulnerable. This is not the time for frivolities as they are used to. The idea may be that the little that is available, a couple of people would sit on it and just to behave like they used to. The result is that you will zombify the people and then precipitate some kind of asymmetric and spontaneous violence, which we have never seen in these parts. Our people are not violent. But nobody should push them.

EducationStudents Shower Philanthropist Fumilayo Waheed With Love On Vals Day by Yeskem(op): 6:35pm On Feb 15, 2020
Valentine’s Day 2020 will remain evergreen in the memory of founder of Funmi Ayinke Humanity Foundation (FAFH), Engr. Funmilayo Waheed. In her usual selfless manner, the young philanthropist in the company of her husband, Professor Waheed Adekojo, hosted beneficiaries of her foundation, many of whom came from different parts of the country to Lagos.

Professor Waheed Adekojo was on hand to support his wife, Funmilayo at Friday’s event
To make it a happy event for beneficiaries, the amicable host asked that her guests, majority of who are students, to come with their partners. Some took up the generous offer, while others preferred to come alone.

Before Friday’s joyful gathering, many had read or heard about Engr. Waheed’s heart of gold. Amazingly, some of those who’ve benefited from FAHF hardly had the chance to meet her in person and so when the FAHF Foundation Valentine Hangout was announced, they jumped at the opportunity of seeing their benefactor in person.

Predictably a couple of beneficiaries got emotional, with some shedding tears of joy, when narrating how FAHF came to their rescue.

They came from all parts of Nigeria, the South-East, the North as well as the South-South. The South West, especially Ogun people were not left out.

National Association of Nigerian Students (NANs) sent in a powerful delegation to honour Engr. Waheed as their matron. Their chronicle of her achievements for them had to be cut short by the Masters of Ceremony as they continued to reel out her interventions on behalf students at every level, from primary to secondary and tertiary who ordinarily would have dropped out of school.

In her welcome address, Engineer Funmilayo Ayinke Waheed who looked dashing with her red pant suit attire went down memory lane to explain why she started the Funmi Ayinke Humanity Foundation. She also gave details of how far she had gone with videos of interventions carried out for widows as well as single mothers in Ogun State towards the end of the year. She further revealed that the Foundation caters for students at different level of their education. To the joy of her guests, the FAHF said she is happy with the way Nigerians have responded to her show of love.

She also had a word for those who were hearing of her activities for the first time telling them that the reason they were asked to fill forms at the point of entry into the venue of the event was to collect their data, know how her Foundation can assist.

PoliticsThe Expediency Of Emeka Ihedioha’s Return To Supreme Court by Yeskem(op): 2:43pm On Feb 09, 2020
‘Nothing wey Emeka Ihedioha no go see for Supreme Court’, for some has replaced the jocular, ‘Nothing wey Musa, no go see for gate’ antidote Nigerians use in explaining astonishing happenings. It is somewhat ironic that Emeka Ihedioha, who naturally isn’t associated with jokes and street banter, an individual often accused of walking with a chip on his shoulder and being a little too serious, now is the subject of street and online banter. Beyond the protests held in different parts of the country, the banter around Ihedioha shows how much of a topical issue his ouster at the Supreme Court has become.

On Tuesday January 14, the Supreme Court gave a ruling on the Senator Hope Uzodinma Vs Hon. Emeka Ihedioha case in respect of the Imo gubernatorial election held on March 9 2019. The Supreme Court delivered a verdict which surprised a whole lot of people. Many had taken it for granted that Ihedioha who enjoyed a popular mandate with his victory celebrated on the streets in Owerri, having triumphed at the elections petition tribunal and the Court of Appeal would have his election upheld by the apex court. The reverse was the case as the seven-man panel of the Supreme Court set aside the judgments of both courts and declared Sen. Uzodinma, who was a distant fourth in the March 2019 election as governor.

Imo State governor, Sen. Hope Uzodima
I heard of the Supreme Court ruling just 30 minutes after it was delivered. My mother, who comes from Imo State called from her village to confirm, if rumors that Uzodinma had been declared governor by the Supreme Court was true. I returned my mother’s call after a call to a colleague who covered proceedings at the apex court. He confirmed that Ihedioha had been removed as governor and replaced with Uzodinma. My mother told me her village was in mourning and after many conversations with other relatives, even weeks after the shocking verdict, it is safe to say Ndi Imo may continue to mourn unless the Supreme Court takes another look at its ruling on their state.

So, yes, I am not out to give an impartial, academic opinion on the Supreme Court ruling on the Imo governorship election. I am an interested party, an individual who is strongly connected to Imo, as many steeped in Igbo culture and tradition know that an individual enjoys full rights of a citizen in his/her mother’s village. My mother being an Imo indigene automatically qualifies me as an indigene. I therefore reiterate that my intervention is as commonsensical, as it is partially titled in a push for the prosperity, happiness and welfare of Ndi Imo.

I stand with the overwhelming majority of Imolites, who stoutly reject Uzodinma ‘s leadership as they didn’t vote him in, and support Ihedioha’s audacious return to Supreme Court. The former governor is asking in a motion on notice filled at the Supreme Court, that the court set aside as a nullity the judgment it delivered on January 14. The summary of Ihedioha’s motion urging the Supreme Court to set aside its ruling is that it was fraudulently obtained by Uzodinma.

PoliticsGbemi Saraki, Says Demolition Of Father’s Property Done Out Of Envy by Yeskem(op): 10:03pm On Jan 03, 2020
….Asks IGP to rein-in Kwara Commissioner of Police

----- Six live ammunition shells casings, nine teargas canisters found in the minister’s home after demolition

Minister of State for Transport, Sen. Gbemi Saraki has described the demolition of her late father’s property in Ilorin, known as ‘Ile Arugbo’ by the Kwara State government as illegal.

The minister in a personally signed statement sent out Friday night, further described the demolition sanctioned by Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazak as borne out of envy.

Sen. Saraki accused AbdulRazak of taking laws into hands by demolishing her father’s property, which she said her family used solely for humanitarian service.

She expressed shock that the Kwara State Government could unleash violence on old people living in the property. This is as she disclosed that she was not consulted on plans to demolish the said property by the governor, whom she said she has always accorded respect.

The statement read in part: “I condemn in totality the actions taken on Thursday 2nd January 2020 by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, especially unleashing terror and mayhem on innocent defenseless aged women simply exercising their right to peacefully protest.

“I call upon the Inspector General of Police to call the State Commissioner of Police to order — using security agencies and live ammunition to settle political and personal scores is NOT what the Buhari Administration is about.

“We must stand up against vindictive politics, driven by envy, motivated by jealousy and practiced without integrity”.

Recall that Frontline News Online reported that Gbemi's home which about 400 meters away from ‘Ile Arugbo’ felt the impact of the forceful demolition carried out with support from the police. Sources say six live ammunition shells casings and nine teargas canisters where found in the minister’s private resident following demolition.

PoliticsRe : Revalidation And Inauguration Of Hon. Chike Okafor By Temple Okonji by Yeskem(op): 11:29pm On Sep 19, 2019
Democracy thrives successfully and gloriously once the operators of the State and the System allow for the supremacy of the Constitution of the Land as well as other obligatory Legislative Enactments. And a State and System driven in the most adorable tenets of Constitutionalism must experience an impartial and independent Judiciary with Judges regarded as incorruptible and responsible .
This characteristic of DEMOCRACY elicits greatest confidence in the pronouncements of the Courts once disputes and disputations and grievances are laid for ultimate resolution and determination either amongst the Agencies of Government or the individual Members of the State and / or the different Organs of Government, especially the Executive and the Legislatve. All these conditions and characteristics help boundlessly in sustaining and deepening the Democratic Experience in a State. And the Hon. Chike Okafor explored, re-engineered freshest confidence in the Courts as well as the fledgling Democracy in Nigeria.

Another glorious revelation in the political travails of the Hon. Chike Okafor as sordid and awkward as they appeared or seemed were that the God factor, together with the factors of grace and mercy and compassions flowing therefrom, conditions the affairs of men either negatively or positively. It is indisputably aposite to emphasize that the Holy Scriptures described travails, trials and temptations as tests and measures of faith in the authority of JEHOVAH. Like Job as recorded in the Holy Bible, the Hon. Chike Okafor surrendered unconditionally to the final position of JEHOVAH in his political travails.

Just as Daniel and the three Jewish brothers in the stories of the Holy Bible, Okafor in exceptional show of faith and dedication and commitment declared, ” except I’m not serving a living God “. And soothingly and inspiringly at the right time and moment, JEHOVAH manifested in indescribable proportions in the restoration and revalidation and inauguration of the glories of the Hon. Chike Okafor. This notoriously settles the contention on the evidential and existential truthfulness of the God factor and the recorded apostolic grace and compassions, an encouragement to all Believers to hold unto JEHOVAH in their travails, trials and temptations.
For purposes of a reminder and refresher, the Hon. Chike Okafor was successfully declared upon victory at the primary election of the APC as the Candidate of his Political Party for the Ehime Mbano / Ihitte Uboma / Obowo Federal Constituency of Imo State alias the Okigwe South Federal Constituency, with a much more resounding endorsement in victories and glories in the main election, defeating the Candidates of the other Political Parties. And as Statutorily required and mandated, the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) issued the said winner with a Certificate of Return preparatory to his eventual inauguration as a Member of the Ninth Assembly of the House of Representatives, Abuja Nigeria.

Distraughtfully, the dream of immediate inauguration was shattered through ” Judicial Pronouncements ” considered bizzare, thoroughly unconscionable through irreconcilable political abracadabra. Dissatisfied with the pronouncements of the Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, per Kawuu J, including the umbrage and uproar against the sore development, both the APC as a Political Party and the Hon. Chike Okafor approached the Court of Appeal , Abuja Division, challenging in all fronts, all the issues forming the basis of the judgement and other pronouncements of the Court below. And in August 07 , 2019 , the shameful political and judicial twists and drama were favourably resolved and determined through a unanimous Judgement of the Court of Appeal. Specifically, the Court of Appeal made Orders for the restoration of the Candidacy, revalidation of the electoral victory and mandate, re – issuance of the invalidated Certificate of Return, and for immediate inauguration as a Member of the House of Representatives. And the case, including every dispute or disputation in the circumstance, closed in finality!

.Says governor correcting years of misgovernance under Okorocha

Deputy Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Niger-Delta, Hon. Henry Nwawuba, has called for patience and support for Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State, as he had little option but to commence his tenure with correcting, what he described as years of bad governance under the immediate past governor of the state, Senator. Rochas Okorocha.

Deputy Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Niger-Delta, Hon. Henry Nwawuba
The lawmaker, representing Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru Federal Constituency of Imo State in a chat with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, said rather than be criticized for inaugurating committees to look into past interventions and areas of contention in the state, Ihedioha should be commended for seeking holistic solutions to intricate problems he inherited from the Okorocha Administration, which held sway for eight years.

Nwawuba further argued that the Ihedioha Administration in Imo State has not only discarded the old ways of conducting business which was characterized by a lack of transparency and accountability, it is also charting a new course with interventions such as the introduction of Treasury Single Account policy (TSA) and the payment of counterpart funding for the N13.5 billion Rural Access and Mobility (RAMP) Project backed by the World Bank.

PoliticsCourt Of Appeal Restores Chike Okafor As House Of Reps Member by Yeskem(op): 9:20pm On Aug 07, 2019
The Abuja division of the Court of Appeal has restored the certificate of return issued to Chike Okafor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a member representing Ehimembano/Ihiteuboma/Obowo Federal constituency of Imo State at the House of Representatives.

In a unanimous judgment on Wednesday, the appellant court set aside the April 29 order made by Justice Bello Kawau of the Kubwa division of the FCT High court directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to Emeka Nwajuba as a member representing the federal constituency.

The three-man panel of the appellate court comprising Justice Adamu Jauro, Stephen Adah and Justice Wilson Akomolafe equally set aside the May 10, 2019 ruling of the trial court that it was functus officio to set aside his order of April 29, 2019 and the entire proceedings in suit No. FCT/HC/CV/423/2018.

Justice Adamu Jauro who delivered the lead judgment accordingly allowed the appeals filed by Chike Okafor and the APC for being meritorious.

Okafor and his political party had in separate appeals challenged the decision of the trial court which had barred the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from accepting or listing the candidate of the APC in the rescheduled National Assembly election.

PoliticsWhy Is Nwajiuba Running From Court Of Appeal? By Temple Okonji by Yeskem(op): 10:22pm On Jun 28, 2019
We have learnt not to categorize politicians by their words alone. According to Oliver Wendell Holmes, ” in the free market of ideas , truth will grapple with falsehood, but truth will ultimately triumph “. Lord Atkins in the famous case of UAC vs. MCFOY, declared in judicial immortality that , ” one cannot build on nothing, expecting same to stand. And illegality however long tolerated cannot transform to legality “. And truth remains constant even without promoters and defenders and cheerleaders !

There is such thing as “empty claims” and often times, it is a neighbour to a clanging cymbal – wherever you see one, you see the other.

In very short and quick succession, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba has shown himself to be everything but his high-sounding claims.

The high standing of integrity he claims is as false as his over-hyped closeness with the highest of influential and powerful personalities and interests in Nigeria and beyond.

And so against all expectations, residents were treated to a mild drama, very despicable twist on Tuesday, June 25 , 2019 in the morning hours at the Gudu District of Abuja residence of the “Hon”. Emeka Nwajiuba as he was holed up in his house for hours in a desperate attempt to evade service of Court processes.

Trouble started when a Bailiff, Usman Mohammed, from the Court of Appeal arrived the residence at Bamanga Tukur Street, Plot 1268, Gudu District, FCT, Abuja, to serve the “Hon”. Nwajiuba with some Court processes. In the worst of professional relationship and existence, even the lawyers who had represented his interest at the High Court of the FCT in Kubwa from where the appeal to the Court of Appeal originated, had rejected and resisted the service of the Court processes. According to the legal practitioner who handled the matter for Nwajiuba at the Lower Court, and which judgement founded the appeal for which the processes are served from the Court of Appeal, there is no valid instruction to act for him at the Court of Appeal. This is possibly true, but deeply laughable.

On this premise , and in view of the need for service to be undertaken on him personally, the Court Bailiff arrived his house just at day break . And it was confirmed that he was in the residence. All efforts to get him to come out to receive the processes failed, but the resilient Bailiff stood his ground that he would not leave until he effected service.

The BAILIFF waited for over seven (7) hours until thugs loyal to the ” Hon “. Nwajiuba emerged to threaten and harass the Bailiff. He was told to proceed to Nwajiuba’s office address at TETFUND to effect the service there. And one is tempted to ask if Nwajiuba remains and functions as the Chairman of the TETFUND , even upon the disputed inauguration as a Member of the National Assembly , Abuja in June 11 , 2019. This is another twist in the evolving political drama in the circumstances! Interestingly, the Court Bailiff clinically chronicled his sordid and sore experience in the hands of Nwajiuba and his paid thugs as evident in the supporting AFFIDAVIT!!!

It will be recalled that ” Hon ” . Emeka Nwajiuba inspite of his now false posturing as the extension of Buhari and the Presidency in Imo State , lost the primaries of the APC, instigated crises in the party and fled to the Accord Party, and also lost again to the APC Candidate in the general election . Without recourse to decency and decorum, Nwajiuba eventually , though patently defective, found a way to surreptitiously obtain an Order from the High Court in Kubwa.

The Judgement and the subsequent consequential Order(s) secured on different dates outside the mandatory 180 days as required by the combined provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended as well as the Electoral Act , 2010 as amended, have been the subject of intense litigation , and is currently pending before the Court of Appeal.

Perhaps, in the estimation of the ” Hon “. Emeka Nwajuba, he believes that by merely evading service, he would frustrate the case at the Court of Appeal. How wrong he was! His stunt a few days ago, was so far embarrassing, unbecoming of a Federal Lawmaker in Nigeria!

And in the shameful drama, one is therefore, left to wonder why a man who has nothing to hide, would elect to scram under the bed.

PoliticsDrama As Rep. Emeka Nwajiuba Evades Service Of Court Process by Yeskem(op): 8:48pm On Jun 27, 2019
Drama as Rep. Emeka Nwajiuba evades service of court process as APC, Okafor approach Court of Appeal

There was a mild drama on Wednesday at the Gudu residence of the member representing, Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo Federal Constituency of Imo State, Rep. Emeka Nwajiuba, as he refused to step out of his home in an attempt to evade service of court processes.

Trouble started when a bailiff from the Court of Appeal, Mr. Usman Mohammed arrived Nwajiuba’s residence to serve him with some court processes.

Frontline News Online gathered that the court bailiff arrived the Imo lawmaker’s home early in the morning house just and he was informed that member was still at home.

However, thing changed when the Mohammed’s mission was made known and all efforts to get the lawmaker to come out to receive the court processes was rebuffed, but the resilient bailiff insisted that he would not leave until he effects service. This led to the bailiff waiting for over 7 hours until a group of unruly young men emerged to threaten and harass him.

One of the less aggressive youths, who appeared at the member’s house told the bailiff proceed to Nwajiuba’s office address at TETFUND Abuja headquarters to effect the service there. The lawmaker who defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to Accord Party to run for the House of Representatives was appointed chairman of TETFUND by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2017.

PoliticsEmeka Nwajuiba’s Actions Robbed South-east Of Speakership-okafor by Yeskem(op): 12:05pm On Jun 17, 2019
There was a lot of talk around Hon. Nwajiuba after he was recognized by INEC, that he could spring a surprise in the contest for the office of Speaker. Now that Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila is the new Speaker, what do you make of the pre-election hype around the man representing your constituency?

Let me start from the foundation to say that Nwajiuba was supposed to a long standing member of the APC. But his actions have cost our party and its supporters in Imo and the South-East a whole lot. He just might have cost the South-East the opportunity to gain much in House. We heard a lot of false promises back home, things like President Buhari asked him to defect to Accord Party and then that the President promised him the he would be made Speaker. A lot of disaffection was created back home with all of the falsehood and the situation is worse now as its glaring that the promise of speakership was untrue. Honestly, if my brother Emeka Nwajiuba had been elected as Speaker or Deputy Speaker, I wouldn’t have gone on appeal. The election was shown live on TV and we saw how he (Nwajiuba) was anonymous. This is in great contrast to 2015, when as a new member I seconded the nomination for Hon. Yakubu Dogara, who eventually emerged Speaker. I came close to being a principal officer, but due to the fact that I was a first term lawmakers I was denied. You will recall that immediately I declared for Speaker, the South-East Caucus of the APC met in Enugu where they stated their support and I was applauded. So his actions dented the popularity of my party in my constituency, state and zone because we have suffered a setback with the loss of better placed candidate for the office of Speaker or Deputy Speaker.

The action is contained in their separate notices of appeals filed before the appellate court against rulings of the FCT High Court which gave rise to the issuance of certificate of return to Nwajuba by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Justice Bello Kawau of the Bwari division of the FCT High Court had in its order made on February 12, 2019, barred INEC, from accepting or listing the candidate of the APC in the rescheduled National Assembly election.

PoliticsDiabolical Conspiracies Against Hon. Chike Okafor by Yeskem(op): 9:25am On Jun 16, 2019
A judgement against a non – existent party or a party unknown to law is incurably defective, without remedies, obviously void and null without more. Then, who ordered the hurriedly executed action of the INEC against the right of the Hon. Chike Okafor , and for what political purposes? Was the execution of an incurably defective judgement right in law? The clearest answer is an emphatic no, as Lord Atkin had declared in the case of UAC vs. Mcfoy that ” illegality does not beget legality ; that one cannot build on nothing, and expect same to stand “!!!
Fourth, assuming without conceding that the Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba was the rightful candidate of the APC but was later substituted , which was not anyway, at all material times, would the rights of Nwajiuba in the APC candidacy subsist in perpetuity, even upon his defection to another political party through which he participated in the main election, still losing to the APC and the Hon. Chike Okafor ? The answer to the poser is a loudest no, negative response, because the defection renders dead, and further nullifies all the interests and rights vested in Nwajiuba in relation to the candidacy of the APC for the said Federal Constituency.
