SUSPENSION OF OPERATIONAL LICENCES OF SOME PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES Consequently, the National Universities Commission hereby suspends the operational licence of: Ø Madonna University, Okija and its other campuses; Ø Lead City University, Ibadan; Ø Tansian University, Umunya; Ø Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu; Ø Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji; Ø Achievers University, Owo and Ø Obong University, Obong Ntak’s licence has been withdrawn because it failed to meet the requirement for renewal of the provisional licence after the statutory three-year period. Pursuant to its statutory mandate of ensuring the quality and orderly development of university education in Nigeria, the National Universities Commission has observed persistent violation of extant rules and operational guidelines by some private universities as follows: i. Unwillingness to comply with NUC Regulations: The universities have persistently violated laid down procedures regarding implementation of the provisions of the Academic Brief and Master Plan documents as well as express provisions of the letter conveying approval for their licence through commencement of part-time and other academic programmes without requisite approval; ii. Inappropriate Governance Structure and Ethos: Some of the affected universities have over the years failed to properly constitute their Governing Councils and in some instances did not appoint Pro-Chancellors as required by their University laws and in line with university tradition and global best practices. This has brought about the overbearing presence and interference of the promoter in the day-to-day running of the universities; iii. Poor Management of Academic Activities: Some of the affected universities have engaged in the establishment of academic programmes without the requisite approval by the NUC and consideration for adequate human and material resources, to ensure quality of programmes; iv. Generally Poor Learning Environment: The Commission has observed that some of the universities have generally poor learning environment. In some of these institutions, ICT, Teaching and Learning Resources are poorly deployed; and v. Mismanagement of Students’ Examination Records: The Commission also observed that some of the universities employ unconventional approaches to the management of examination and records. These include generally poor examination administration and failure to prepare and release examination transcripts to students as and when due. The universities should, in accordance with the implication of the suspension of licence, immediately stop further admission of students into all their academic programmes until a forensic audit is conducted. For candidates who applied to any of these universities for the 2012/2013 academic year, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been requested to assist in distributing qualified candidates to other universities of their choice. http://www.nuc.edu.ng/nucsite/File/Suspension%20of%20Operational%20Licences%20of%20Some%20Private%20Universities.htm |

How do we go about telling our parents? |
bennyraz: @OP. me if i impregnate any girl now o. I would accept d responsibilities bcuz i had it at d back of my mind before sleeping with u. Do u knw why? I dnt want to kill my child. So that ur bobo na Bleep up no 1. D thing is u have no choice than to abort. I mean spread ur legs open 4 d scissors and whatever but don't take pills or any local drugs for abortion. And don't go to any chemist. If not, ur life is at stake. So i advice u to go to a hospital and go and see a professional matron. She would do the job. Or betterstill, since u are in school, u can lie to your mum that u where raped and u got pregnant. Trust me, most parents wouldn't want a bastard as a child. At Op follow my advice. Either lie to ur parents or go to the hospital. And i'm sure d hospital will ask u to call ur parents. When they ask u at d hospital why u want to Abort tell them that u where raped. Repeat d storyline carefully and incase they ask u how did it happen. Tell them something. And if they ask u why u didn't report the incident to the school and police authorities, tell them u don't want to be stigmatised and u wanted to keep it a secret until when u discovered u didn't see ur period. That's my advice o. Atleast one has to lie to save him or herself from shame. May God forgive me of my transgressions and advice. My boyfriend is suggesting I remove it, I don't know how safe it is. |

Wats happening with the list? Any news abt it? This thread has become useless 4 we expecting d 2nd list,we keep asking bt no response. *Hsh* Pls where is Big_ben? |
Yetunde, it would even be more embarrassing when you abort and complications arise. Your parents will still come to bail you out. Nothing remains hidden forever. if you think you can hide this from your parents, slap yourself to reality, cos you CAN'T! The best thing to do is TELL THEM before someone else does. This is the most sane advice anyone can give you. If you were my sister, i'd have told you the same!
