Education › Re: "I Scored 300+ In JAMB 2024... But UNILAG Rejected Me – The Real Reason by yinkeys(m): 4:32pm On Jan 14 |
kingbigfish2005: I scored above 300 in JAMB 2024. I was sure I was getting into Computer Engineering at UNILAG. My name wasn't on the list.
I was crushed. But then I found out why,and it’s something a lot of people don't talk about.
It’s called the "catchment area" system. In simple terms, every university gives priority to students from its own state and surrounding states.
UNILAG's catchment is the Southwest (Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, etc.). If you're not from there, you're fighting for fewer spots against everyone in Nigeria. The competition is insane.
Here's the painful truth: Even with my 300+, I lost my spot to someone from a catchment state with a lower score. And when they miss their course, they often get offered another one( change of course). People like me? We just get rejected.
My advice to you (so you don't end up like me): Choose a university in your own region.
· Are you from the East? Look at UNN, UNIZIK, FUTO. · From the West? UNILAG, UI, OAU are for you (if you're from their catchment states). · From the North? Focus on the great schools in your zone.
This is the smart move. You'll have a better chance, the cut-off marks will be kinder, and you won't be stuck rewriting JAMB for years.

Don't let a technicality ruin your dream like it almost did mine. Score high, but choose smart.👍 I know people from Kogi & Kwara that graduated from Unilag Engineering In your O level result, do you have a credit in further maths What about Post UME |

AMINDA: 9 million dollars for 6 months with a renewal clause for an additional 6 months. This government is more concerned with optics than result. Offering appointments to clerics and genocide amplifiers, paying and negotiating with bandits in so-called peace deals, etc. Anything to gain temporary reprieve in order to win re-election. Disgraceful! Sca.mm ers They won't even adequately equip local vigilantes with some of that money Thé battle of public opinion Trying to change the narrative |

Iwobi is displaying his high football IQ in this tournament even though I don’t think he helps defensively Probably forecasts & scans the offensive field really well, Arsenal academy grad Hard to find Iwobi winning balls for us though No yes men should come for me Im just stating facts Lookman, Onyeka, Ndidi, even Adams & Osimhen do mop up sometimes Can we ever have players like Odegard, Palmer, Ozil, De Bryne locally produced Players that can scan the game or make reads slightly ahead of others ? |

Toylove: That is a very comical offside trap Maybe offside and no backpass was newly added in the 80's or early 90's so many teams were trying to adopt proper traps I think it's offside but the ref didn't call it No VAR then |
