CODEEATER: I don't know y...I just don't like blender... its cool n all,but I just don't dig it...

I prefer 3ds max,c4d n Maya,which support gray extension... blender doesn't... with vRay,photorealistic images are made possible, am not saying blender lacks realism, just that its not "professional" I guess...

but either way,I've got em all installed anyway.. using digital tutors as my Learning center...
I your opinion, but blender also support vray, may be you have not seen those short movie done compmetely in blender "sintel", "big buck bunny (this one even featured on BBC)", and some other full length movie like "back in time" e.t.c, and those movies are professionals enough.

@ kazuna thanks, that faucet is quite tricky, i used a mixed shader, with glossy shader as shader 1 with a FAC value of 0.707, Beckmann type, color: white, roughness:0.000 and diffuse shader as shader 2: with color:black, roughness:0.036 normal:default. you can still experiment with the setting to get better result, it took me a while to get it though, and proper lighting could help a lot. the modeling is quite easy: I used a curve modifier to bend a cylinder , I also used the screw modifier to create the spring using a circle mesh. the screw modifier can be very trick since the circle will be twisted around the origin (that orange dot). so it should be beside the circle.

the circle.should be create in the front view and the "align to view " checkbox should be checked. then you will use the curve modifier to bend it, I tried to use the 'simple deform' modifier its a crashing failure. thats the trick.

ladanski: Nice use of cycles. Really nice. You could add more samples but that would consume a lot of cpu power.Did you follow Andrew Price's tutorials on rendering donuts?
yeah I know, i just use that amount of samples for quick preview, yeah I once watch his tutorial I mean Andrew tutorial on "introduction to cycles", where he explain how to create a donut under one minutes.but he didnt actually model it. I followed the instruction he gave. (which is by adding a tonus and another tonus above, then you will use the fluid simulator to drop the tonus above on the one below. and then you will use particle system to add some sprinkles on it).

blender 3D is very good, despite it is free, and there are lots if tutorial out there on YouTube, and some other sites like blenderguru.com (Andrew price), cgcookie.com, cgi.tutsplus.com and so on, blender can get you started, but if you want paid stuff you can go for autodesk maya.

Brecht Van Lommel, the primary
developer for Cycles, has left Blender to
work for Solid Angle (Arnold Renderer).

“Facts are, Cycles development will continue.
Sergey will tackle bigger projects there. We
also have Campbell, Dalai, Bastien, Lukas,
Antony etc. + 7 students who are being paid
by Google (Summer of Code).
Brecht is of course a loss, but we are happy
for him and confident about Cycles future.
Also Brecht is still available, when we have
questions. He just cannot code for Cycles
anymore. smiley

and that's true retexturing is not easy! anyway

losprince: @ yinksey you can do this? and y say u are beginner? abeg no dey whine us...

@guru shimish even though u use circle or not ur works are still cool but since circles is the future of blender I suggest u learn it o.
to be sincere am a beginner in blender I started learning it just about 2 months ago, although I once used 3dsmax but not good at it.
have been following this thread since then, but I decided not to post anything until i now. and I was inspired by things you guys have been posting before naira land illness which has taken away so important stuff from this thread.

and about cycles. its the future of blender, it result are just too realistic.t
Art, Graphics & VideoRe: 3D ENTHUSIAST ZONE: Blender 3d For The Novice Of The Highest Order! by Yinksey(m): 7:08am On Jul 09, 2014
@shimish its hard to believe though. there many tutorials on introduction to cycles. cycles is the future of blender, its still actively in development, did you even know that blender internal render has been discontinued (I mean its development) but its still included in blender.

here is another doughnut scene I rendered with cycles

Art, Graphics & VideoRe: 3D ENTHUSIAST ZONE: Blender 3d For The Novice Of The Highest Order! by Yinksey(m): 6:34am On Jul 09, 2014
@shimish thank you very much, I used cycles.

as a beginner in blender this is what I have achieved so far, what do you think guys.

Art, Graphics & VideoRe: 3D ENTHUSIAST ZONE: Blender 3d For The Novice Of The Highest Order! by Yinksey(m): 11:27am On Jul 08, 2014
@shimish you have done great works with blender reading through this thread, looking forward to be like you soon.

@shimish that's a nice animation, but the eyes are not blinking. that should make it look more realistic

Elvisten10: use the strtotime() function www.ideone.com/Ev0uKg www.ideone.com/Z9fh1S
finally somebody got it right. elvis thats very good of you, just trying to make somebody learn!.
WebmastersRe: Post your PHP Problems Here by Yinksey(m): 2:14pm On Oct 04, 2013
Ymodulus: this is an easy way
---------------------------
$datetime = '2012-07-25 14:35:08';

$unix_time = date('Ymdhis', strtotime($datetime ));
echo $unix_time;
------------------------------

OR

---------------------------------
$datetime = '2012-07-25 14:35:08';

$unix_time = date('Ymdhis', strtotime($datetime ));
echo $unix_time;
----------------------------
that you code is not right o, when the was converted into date time it was not the same with what you converted, it yield 1932-01-29 15:09:08 which is wrong.
