Politics › OK-Movement Questions NDC Campaign Council List by Ylink4sure(op): 9:58am On Oct 26
Where is the structure? — OK Movement questions NDC campaign council list.

The Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement has questioned the grassroots structure and preparedness of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections following the party’s unveiling of its National Campaign Council.

The Director-General of the OK Movement, John Ughulu, criticised the timing of the announcement, arguing that the party had delayed putting its campaign machinery in place and lacked the grassroots network required to prosecute a nationwide election.

Ughulu further questioned the party’s readiness for the election, challenging its leadership to explain the delay in organising its campaign team.

With less than three months to the general elections, they are only just announcing their Presidential Campaign Council. What exactly have they been doing all this time? Where is the structure? Where is the strategy? Where is the machinery required to prosecute a serious national election?” he asked.

The criticism comes amid an escalating disagreement between the NDC and the OK Movement over the movement’s organisational independence and its role in the campaign for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Ughulu and the OK Movement’s state, local government and ward coordinators were not listed among the appointees

Politics › 2027: Sowore Slams NDC, Accuses Obi Of Renting Party Every Election by Ylink4sure(op): 12:16pm On Oct 25
The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and accused its presidential candidate Peter Obi of renting political parties during election seasons.

Sowore alleged that Obi’s political moves were not aimed at liberating Nigerians but at helping the ruling establishment deflect public anger and avoid accountability ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a statement posted on X, Sowore accused the NDC of exploiting the political process, claiming that its leaders made ₦9 billion from the sale of nomination forms while running the party from their homes.

The same opportunists and packaged political frauds who made ₦9 billion from selling nomination forms while running a political party from their living rooms,” Sowore wrote, referring to the NDC.

He described Obi as an unprincipled politician who, according to him, changes political platforms ahead of elections without offering a genuine challenge to the political establishment.

“This is the problem with unprincipled politicians like Peter Obi, who rent political parties every election season, not to liberate Nigerians, but to…. divert public anger and evade the revolutionary consequences of their actions,” he said.

They don’t oppose Tinubu; they simply don’t want anyone to oppose him strongly enough to bring his disastrous reign to an end. Their politics is about managing opposition, not confronting the system,” he said.

Politics › Rufai Oseni Of Arise Slams Peter Obi by Ylink4sure(op): 10:24am On Oct 08
Don’t say things if you don’t have evidence – Rufai slams Peter Obi

Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni, has come heavily on the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his latest comment on the 2023 general elections.

Obi had said there was no evidence to prove his claim that he won the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party.

Reacting to the statement on Arise Television, Rufai said Obi should not make such a claim if he does not have evidence to support it.

Mr Peter Obi, it is best you do not say things if you do not have the evidence. I must repeat it, because when you say that I won the election, you don’t have the evidence to back it up, then people do not take what you say seriously,” he said.

Rufai also asked if Obi had even checked the election results before making the claim.

Didn’t you have backend analysis of result by result before you made the claim? Where are all your own data spreadsheets on the backend that assert your claim? Where is your own backend collation that asserts your claim?” he asked.

Politics › There’s No Evidence I Won 2023 Presidential Election – Peter Obi by Ylink4sure(op): 12:02pm On Oct 07
Labour Party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said there is no evidence to prove his claim that he won the 2023 presidential election, while maintaining that he believes he won the contest.

Obi made the remarks in a recent interview with BBC Africa while discussing his claim that the election was rigged.

Asked whether he had evidence to prove that he won, he initially said, “There’s no evidence. Everything is not based on evidence.”

He, however, immediately maintained his position, saying, “I won the election and that’s where I will end.”

The former Anambra State governor was also questioned about his repeated claims that the 2023 election was rigged, despite the courts dismissing his challenges to the outcome.

“I don’t like going back to the past. I sustain what I said,” Obi said.

The presidential election was won by Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, while Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party came second and Obi finished third, according to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Politics › Obi Makes U-turn.To Return Subsidy by Ylink4sure(op): 9:08am On Oct 07
Obi makes U-turn, vows to return subsidy if elected.

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has promised to restore the petrol subsidy if elected president in 2027, reversing the impression created by earlier comments that his administration would only seek to reform the scheme.

Obi made the promise on Tuesday during an interview with the BBC, where he argued that the major problem with the subsidy regime was the corruption surrounding its implementation.

In his 2023 presidential campaign, the former Anambra State governor vowed to remove the fuel subsidy, stating that the funds should instead be redirected toward critical national development sectors like education, health, and infrastructure.

His sudden U-turn also came about two weeks after his running mate, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, backed the idea of reintroducing subsidy in a different form if the opposition party wins the 2027 presidential election.

Politics › I Persuaded Obi, Kwankwaso To Join ADC – Babachir Lawal by Ylink4sure(op): 1:34pm On Sep 29
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has said he persuaded Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to join the African Democratic Congress despite their reservations about Atiku Abubakar’s involvement in the party.

Lawal disclosed this on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday, while recounting the negotiations that preceded Obi and Kwankwaso’s entry into the ADC ahead of the opposition party’s primaries.

“I attended every meeting of the ADC, and at one time, Peter Obi was playing in and out. I was the one who finally dragged Peter into the ADC and committed him to joining the ADC,” Lawal said.

We also convinced Kwankwaso to join the ADC, but he was always afraid that with Atiku Abubakar there, nothing good would ever come out of the ADC,” he said.

He explained that Obi preferred a consensus arrangement because he believed a contested primary could favour candidates with greater financial resources and political influence.

According to Lawal, the failure to reach an agreement on a consensus candidate eventually contributed to the departure of both Obi and Kwankwaso from the ADC.

Politics › Kenneth Okonkwo Makes U-turn On Obi by Ylink4sure(op): 4:44pm On Sep 28
‘I was misled,’ Kenneth Okonkwo makes U-turn on Obi’s debt record

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has said he was misled when he defended former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi against claims that his administration left debts and other financial obligations behind.

Okonkwo, who was Obi’s spokesman during the 2023 presidential campaign, said he could no longer repeat some of the claims he made in defence of the former governor after recent disclosures by the Anambra State Government.

He made the disclosure on Sunday Politics, a programme on Television Continental (TVC), on Sunday.

Okonkwo, who is now spokesman for the presidential campaign council of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the ADC presidential candidate for the 2027 election, said he was prepared to change his position whenever fresh facts emerged.

“You know me, I’m a very passionate person in whatever I believe in. Let me tell you because I was misled,” he said.

He recalled that during the 2023 election campaign, he had told Nigerians that Obi did not leave any debt or unpaid salaries, pensions or gratuities when he left office.

The fact is Anambra State Government said he borrowed eight loans. The fact is that Anambra State said that at the water corporation, he was owing workers there, all the salaries, all the arrears. I cannot say the same thing that I said about Peter Obi in 2023,” he said.

There was a time they figured out that Tinubu’s son was wearing a watch worth up to N135 million,” he said.

“I ran out on television and I said nobody from Peter Obi’s family can ever wear such a thing when people are dying in poverty. I stuck my reputation on it. Can I still say that today?”

Explaining the change in his approach, Okonkwo said his role in scrutinising Obi would be different in the 2027 election.

Politics › Peter Obi Agrees With Dickson, Condemns OK Presidential Campaign Council by Ylink4sure(op): 4:33pm On Sep 25
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), Peter Obi, has backed the position of the party’s national leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, that support groups should not assume the party’s functions, rejecting the presidential campaign council recently constituted by the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, popularly known as the OK Movement.

Obi stated this during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Thursday while reacting to the dispute between the NDC and the movement over the 59-member Presidential Campaign Council.

The OK Movement had announced the council on September 17, but the NDC later distanced itself from the structure, saying the party did not authorise it.

Obi, who is the NDC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election, said the OK Movement and other groups backing the party’s ticket should operate as support organisations rather than create structures that perform the functions of the party.

He said, “First is that the NDC is a political party we all belong to and I agree entirely with the position of the leader.

Politics › Opposition Disunity: ‘we’re Repeating 2023 Mistakes’ - donald Duke by Ylink4sure(op): 2:00pm On Sep 24
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Donald Duke, has warned that opposition parties are repeating the mistake that cost them the presidency in the 2023 election by failing to unite ahead of the 2027 poll.

Duke said the inability of the opposition to consolidate its forces remained a major concern, arguing that the votes secured by Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso in 2023 could have altered the outcome had they contested as a united bloc.

“In 2023, the PDP produced three presidential candidates. Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, and we saw what happened. Put their votes together, Bola Tinubu didn’t stand a chance,” Duke said.

He said the lessons of the 2023 election appeared not to have been fully absorbed by opposition politicians.

“So, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. We are now in a situation where we’re repeating the mistakes of 2023. We haven’t learned,” he said.

He said opposition politicians needed to first agree on the direction they wanted to take the country before deciding who should lead the effort.

Presidential Campaign Council: ‘We don’t need your validation’ – OK Movement tells NDC

The Obidient-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement has said that it does not require the personal validation or approval of any individual within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) before exercising its legitimate organisational functions in accordance with established processes.

The ‌‍‍‍‍‌OK Movement National Secretary Saadatu Sani said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

Sani rejected a statement credited ed to the party’s National Chairman, Sen. Moses Cleopas, urging him to familiarise himself with NDC’s constitution before making assertions.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that OK Movement on Thursday unveiled a 59-member presidential campaign council, with John Ughulu as National Director-General and Saadatu Sani as National Secretary.

However, NDC, in a statement issued on Saturday, distanced itself from the purported presidential campaign council, urging the public to disregard it.

Sani, in her statement, said the movement recognised the supremacy of political parties within constitutional and statutory spheres, but maintained that it remained an independent organisation with its leadership and internal processes.

Politics › US Supports Nigeria With New Military Equipment Under Arms Deal by Ylink4sure(op): 4:37pm On Sep 10
The United States has delivered military equipment to the Nigerian Air Force as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to combat terrorism in the region.

The United States Africa Command disclosed this in a post shared on X on Thursday.

AFRICOM said the equipment was delivered by a US Air Force C-17 aircraft over the weekend under a foreign military sales agreement between the two countries.

The command said the delivery was aimed at further strengthening the partnership between the US and Nigeria and supporting the country’s counter-terrorism efforts.

“PARTNERSHIP IN ACTION: A US Air Force C-17 delivers equipment to the Nigerian Air Force this weekend.

“The equipment is part of a foreign military sales agreement that furthers the US-Nigerian partnership and will aid in Nigeria’s efforts to counter terrorism in the region,” AFRICOM stated.

The delivery comes amid ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to tackle terrorism and other security threats across the country.

God bless you for your deep insights. Some countries are already setting deadlines for fossil fuel powered vehicles. It is estimated that by year 2035,fossil fuel consumption would have dropped significantly with the ubiquitousness of electric vehicles virtually everywhere in the world.

Why do you think some Oil companies are divesting and pivoting into renewables?

Dangote knows he needs to cash out now! Those who financed the refinery would have shared inside information about the trajectory of the energy market in about a decade from now with him and wants to get their money back now too!

He did terrible things in Kaduna — Musa accuses El-Rufai of dividing Kaduna

ABUJA — Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has accused former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai of taking actions that allegedly deepened divisions in the state during his tenure.

Musa made the allegations on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television, claiming that El-Rufai’s administration created a situation in which residents from southern Kaduna could not freely live in the northern part of the state and vice versa.

“El-Rufai did a lot of terrible things in Kaduna State. He divided the state into two. In that, if you are from the south, you cannot go to the north to live. Those ones from the north were moving to the south,” Musa said.

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2026/09/2027-tinubu-will-eat-obi-like-biscuits-if-he-runs-alone-okonkwo/

The spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, Kenneth Okonkwo, has said an opposition coalition is the only way to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Okonkwo also dismissed the chances of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), defeating Tinubu if he contests without a broader opposition alliance.

According to Okonkwo, Obi cannot unseat Tinubu alone, even with former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate.

“So, if Peter Obi goes against Tinubu alone, Tinubu will eat him like biscuits. Will Kano people accept Peter Obi? In 2023, when we had the opportunity, they did not accept him. In 2027, they will not accept him,” he said.

Kwankwaso has nothing to contribute to the ticket. Even in Kano, Kwankwaso has lost,” Okonkwo said.

Only opposition coalition can defeat Tinubu in 2027 — Kenneth Okonkwo

The spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, Kenneth Okonkwo, has said a coalition is the only way opposition parties can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Okonkwo stated this during an interview with Ibeju Upgrade Media, shared on YouTube on Thursday, where he also dismissed the chances of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, of unseating Tinubu without a broader opposition alliance.

Attempts by opposition parties to form a coalition in 2025 suffered setbacks as major contenders, including Atiku and Obi, emerged as presidential candidates of different parties ahead of the 2027 election.

Coalition is the only way out. So you don’t come down with a man who has told you from the beginning that power is not taken à la carte; you fight for it, you grab it, you snatch it, you run away with it,” he said, referring to Tinubu.

Obi is the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, while Kwankwaso is his running mate on the party’s ticket.

Okonkwo had in May also said Obi lacked the capacity to lead Nigeria, arguing that he avoided difficult challenges.
Politics › CAN Warns 'MaMa Pee' Over Jesus Reference by Ylink4sure(op): 4:50pm On Sep 02
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has warned Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, and other political actors against dragging Jesus Christ into partisan battles ahead of the 2027 elections, declaring that ‘no politician is the Messiah.’

The warning followed recent comments by Mama Pee, in which she referenced Jesus Christ while making a political point about Peter Obi and the 2027 presidential contest.

In a statement signed by its president, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, CAN said the incident was a reminder that political passion, particularly among Christians, should not blur the line between support for a candidate and reverence for Christ.

“Jesus Christ is not a political candidate, a campaign slogan or a weapon to advance one politician against another,” Archbishop Okoh said.

The association stressed that Nigerians remained free to support, oppose or criticise any candidate, naming Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu among those who could be subjected to political debate without compromising Christian values.

“We are free to support Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu or any other candidate. We are equally free to criticise them,” Archbishop Okoh said.

Rather than allowing political contests to become battles over personalities, CAN urged Nigerians to concentrate on the issues that will determine the country’s future.

“Let us argue about competence, character, policies, performance and the future of Nigeria. Let us disagree passionately if necessary, but let us leave Jesus Christ out of our partisan quarrels,” Archbishop Okoh said.

CAN also warned against attaching spiritual significance to political parties or electoral victories, saying no political contest should be presented as a substitute for the salvation associated with Christ.

“No political party represents the salvation of the human spirit that Christ epitomises. And no electoral victory is worth compromising the honour due to His name,” Archbishop Okoh said.

With the 2027 political season gathering momentum, the CAN president urged politicians, their supporters and Nigerians generally to temper their political exchanges with responsibility and respect for what they consider sacred.

“As we approach another crucial electoral season, I urge politicians, their supporters and all Nigerians to conduct our political conversations with responsibility, restraint and respect for what we hold sacred,” Archbishop Okoh said.

Car Talk › Recommendation: A Good Mazda CX9 Mechanic Is Needed by Ylink4sure(op): 9:26am On Aug 08
I am currently about to purchase a used 2010 Mazda CX9 from a source I am familiar with the car history. It's my first time of purchasing a Naija used car and I want to get it right. The vehicle has been digitally diagnosed and all the 'Kinks' are well known.

I am here to seek nairalanders recommendation of a reputable Mazda professional mechanical engineer (especially with Mazda CX9) with verifiable track record.

Honestly, the vehicle was not well maintained by the previous user and he's willing to sell at a steeply discounted price that's why I'm willing to take a risk. I desire a mechanic that perhaps nairalanders have patronised and can vouch for their integrity and professionalism.

In fact,if I can't get someone of that caliber I intend not to proceed with the purchase.
