Looking at the link you posted, your comments show that you actually didn't read the post in the link or you read but didn't understand. I think you should read again. The post is basically about arguments on history and not history itself. Of course perceived 'i never belleful' scholars will want to write whatever they wish to. This argument written in 2020 quoted books written in 2004, 2013, 2016 which are just modern interpretation of Africa by people who are of Christian backgrounds and also try to downplay African histories in favour of European perceived know about Africa.

All that is written in those piece are European/Modern points of view on Africa. A very good example is Heart Of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Try read it. I need it again myself. But I will tell you something. No African is left out of Oyinbo man's nonsensical writing about the natives of Africa. That's the pure truth. That is why it is being seen that Chinua Achebe wrote gave Oyinbo man a response to 'Heart of Darkness' through 'Things fall aparts' which I also need to read again myself. So your tribe no matter what is also affected by Oyinbo man's rubbish writing about Africa. It's me and you that we are different ethnic groups. Oyinbo only see us as Blackman negro- the monkeys. Sorry bro, it's the bitter reality.

Thanks for making me do a little bit of research this afternoon. I also realized I haven't been reading.

Back your post, I have attached a screenshot from your link. How could Oduduwa who you claimed never existed have also met the Igbos in Yoruba land yet never existed? How could it have been argued that Oduduwa is not from the Arab world but from Sudan yet still never existed? Do you actually argue about the origin of something that never existedhuh

Guy, when you get a piece of information, try to read with open mind first before you start concluding because, obviously you don't understand the content of the write up your posting up and down. Try to learn first bro.

There is nothing like 'Yoruba'? But there are millions of people that identify themselves as Yoruba and even have a distinct language with so many varieties of it . They even have a very robust history with very rich culture!

See, it's not a big deal if the account of their origin they have been citing is wrong. That's not their fault. It's what they know they know. But you saying that their is nothing like Yoruba makes you sound so so stupid. No matter how you see their history, Yoruba is still a major tribe in Nigeria. Can you imagine me saying there is nothing like efik or ibibio? Habba! Stop being stupid na!

Doberman Pinscher is a dog of German origin which started existing in 1890. It then means it never existed before 1890. The task collector who the dog was named after was the first breeder of the dog. He felt he needed a dog with some particular traits. Different dogs had that traits but not one had all the traits together in him as desired So he cross-bred to have what he wanted.
1890 tp 2024 is 130 years now. Does the fact that Doberman didn't exist 131 years ago now mean there is nothing like Doberman?

Even the Bible understands that everything in existence has a date of creation. 'In the beginning, God made heaven and the earth'.

Therefore by your comment, there is nothing like anything. You sound too stupid. Stop it.

They can't even reason that Ajayi Crowther never spoke Igbo, and could not have written a book in a language he didn't speak 😆 😂
Sorry Bro. It's history dated back to 1800s. I bet your great grandpa wasn't even born then. It is funny you assumed he didn't speak Igbo but wrote a book in the same igbo language. I try to imagine how many foreign languages he spoke let alone local. Mind you, lukumi Yoruba has historical connections to Anioma/Delta. Does that give you a clue now?

Besides, someone can even learn and speak a new language in less than 2 years especially when it is necessary. I once met a Yoruba man that speaks up to 7 languages including Igbo. So what's so strange about igbo language that non-igbos can't speak then? Mind you, in as much as fact you don't have another historical book/facts that states otherwise, then Ajayi Crowther wrote the first igbo book. Question of if he could speak Igbo is low IQ.

Let's just say the man's story was like that of Joseph in the Bible. Joseph was sold into slavery but later became a prime minister. Ajayi Crowther was sold into into slavery too but later a major positive influence on the history of Nigeria. He taught your father's how to read and write. He wrote the first book in your language.

The highest number of votes that brought Tinubu in is from the north not even from SW. Even Obi himself realized that Yorubas chose not to give all their votes to Tinubu after seeing the results of the elections. He realized the north sololey gave Tinubu the victory through their votes. That is why he has been directing his projects to the north in order to convince them because he realized he needs their large number of votes to win.

Now that he is feeling helpless, he is beginning to show his tribalistic intent.

nairalanda1:
It's like the op, and most nairalanders do not get why we cannot afford subsidy anymore.

For starters, it costs a lot of money to refine crude into petrol, and yet, at the end of the day, people want cheap fuel because 'economy hard'

Well, if we want crude to be 200 naira per liter, that means that for every liter, government would pay at least 800 naira. Assuming a fuel consumption rate of 60 million liters a day, that's about 48 billion naira a day, which equates to about 17 trillion naira a year.

Well, I haven't included transport costs...so including them could lead to something like 20-25 trillion a year....to be spent on subsidies.

Remind me what our budget for this year was...35 trillion. 20 trillon of that would go on subsidy to get cheap fuel.

At the end, we would have to take a loan of at least 20 trillion naira per annum to pay for the deficit that results from subsidy. That is on top of the loans that we are still paying off.

You know what that meas for our economy.

Oh, and the above calculations assumes there is no smuggling. With smuggling, consumption goes as high as 90 million liters per day. I don't want to calculate the cost implications.

I know people have abused me, and called me names, but with the above cost implication of manitaining subsides as they were in Jan 2023, I doubt that we would want to go back to those days.

The fact is, Dangote is a businessman, and he took loans to build that his refinery. He cannot sell fuel to you at 200 naira per liter and expect to have a working refinery in five years. Remember he has to pay loans, pay his workers an internationally competitive wage, and pay for maintenance and upgrades if neccesary, and also still pay taxes. (Even if he is being forgiven tax on the refinery, his workers still have to pay tax out of their salaries self.).

Infact selling fuel at a loss in the name of subsidy is why we lost 4 refineries, and went from 400000 bpd in 1987 to 92000 in 2012, to 6500 in 2019. (Same issue in Venezuela, whose largest refinery went from 900000 bpd, to 100000 bpd over 2-3 decades of subsides...and last I checked no NIgerians was running the country). Refining petrol is a venture that needs a profit to survive.

Yes, I believe that subsides are necessary. But the thing is, as our budget is, we cannot pay for subsides without borrowing and borrowing. I also have heard repeated comments that 'in saner climes they pay subsides'...when what they do is heavily tax incomes to pay for subsides that go to the poorest of the poor....or maybe they pay the refinery a production subsidy, which might reduce prices a bit...but by not much.

All in all, the era of cheap fuel is at an end.
I try to reason alongside your pattern of thoughts though but looking at the way things are, should our minimum wage now be 70k ?

You can imagine him telling the courts to stop importers from importing. You can see now? This is not even about Tinubu but what has been planned when he started building the refinery under GEJ.
