Sports / Anthony Joshua To Fight for World HW IBF Title by yommyuk: 12:25am On Feb 16, 2016
Britain's Anthony Joshua will fight reigning champion Charles Martin for the IBF world heavyweight title at London's O2 Arena on 9 April.

American Martin, 29, has won 23 and drawn one of his 24 fights and beat Vyacheslav Glazkov for the vacant IBF belt in January.

Joshua, 26, most recently beat Dillian Whyte with a seventh-round knockout to claim the British heavyweight title.

The Olympic champion has 15 knockouts from 15 professional fights.

Tyson Fury was stripped of the IBF title after he opted for a rematch against Glazkov's Ukrainian compatriot Wladimir Klitschko, who he beat in November, rather than face the mandatory challenger.

On 10 February, Fury named Martin alongside WBC title-holder Deontay Wilder and Klitschko as three boxers he wanted to fight in 2016.

Fury, who holds the WBA and WBO belts, has threatened to quit boxing but is set to face Klitschko in a mandatory rematch in May or June.

Prior to the Whyte fight, Joshua had recorded 14 straight knockouts in the first three rounds.

Over his 15 bouts, he has accrued only 32 rounds of experience, seven of which came against Whyte.

"Fighting for the heavyweight world title has been a dream of mine since I turned professional," said Joshua, who won gold at the London Olympics.

"I feel privileged to have the opportunity to turn that dream into reality. Martin is a great fighter and a hungry competitor so I am going to have to produce the performance of my career to claim that belt."

The fight will be Martin's first bout outside of the US and he has threatened to "knock out" Joshua.

He said: "I'm coming to the UK to make a statement that I am the best heavyweight in the world and no-one is taking my title.

"I'm world champion, so that doesn't mean just sit back and make easy defences in the US. It means facing the biggest challenges out there."

Religion / Our Missionary Assignment by yommyuk: 7:40pm On Feb 15, 2016
Paul and Barnabas set the standard when they obeyed God’s call to go forth. The local body of believers—those left behind to share Jesus Christ with neighbours and friends—equipped the men for their journey. They did so for the same reasons that apply today:

Unchecked sin leads people down a slippery slope toward a depraved conscience and, ultimately, a darkened mind that cannot perceive what is right. Every unbelieving person is sliding on that treacherous path.

Responding with grace to mankind’s plight, the Father sent His Son to save the world. On the cross, Christ bore the sin of every person;living, no longer alive, and yet to be born. The offer of salvation is for all; God’s grace is blind to race, creed, and colour (Rom. 10:12). All who believe in Jesus are forgiven of their sin, and they’ll spend eternity with Him.

We receive the Holy Spirit so we may bear effective witness to those who need salvation. Notice that we don’t simply begin at home and work steadily outward. People everywhere are waiting for the good news. The Word is to be carried far and fast.

The purpose of the church is to worship and witness. Some will go and some will send, but all are called to the work of spreading the gospel. This is not a suggestion; it is a command (Matt. 28:19). Believers living in God’s will are all to be involved in missionary work.

Romans 10:14
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Psalm 96:3
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvellous works among all the peoples!

John 20:19-24
On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.” ...

Isaiah 6:8
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

Religion / The Call To Serve by yommyuk: 12:31pm On Feb 13, 2016
When it comes to serving in the church, people rarely volunteer for tasks where they’ll go unnoticed. They usually prefer a position of leadership. There’s nothing wrong with heading a committee or teaching a large class. But God calls us to have a servant’s heart—motivated to live a life that glorifies Him, not ourselves. The current trend in the world we live is the desire to lead a sizable church. And those called to serve at a small congregation frequently struggle with feelings of insignificance.

My encouragement to them is this: In His great love, God places us exactly where He wants us to serve, and every task we undertake should be given our all, whether there’s one person listening or a multitude. We ultimately serve Christ, and He is not concerned with recognition we receive. He desires our obedience and best effort. This is true not just for shepherds/pastors but for all believers.

There are many reasons that the Lord calls us to serve. First, He rids us of pride and selfishness, allowing our focus to be on Him. Second, we proclaim our love for Christ through our care for one another. Third, God tests and purifies our hearts through service.

How do you define success? A common response is “achieving our predetermined goals.” Scripture’s definition, however, is different. The Lord desires that we discover His plan, obey, and become all that He intended. In other words, for success in the biblical sense, God sets the goals for our lives.

1 Peter 4:10
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:

1 Peter 5:2
Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly;

John 12:26
If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honour him.

Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

Religion / Prayer Is The Key by yommyuk: 9:49pm On Feb 10, 2016
When something’s on our mind, we are wise to consult Scripture or trusted spiritual mentors. God has also given His children the privilege of prayer, and He wants us to bring our concerns directly to Him. But believers often have questions about the power and effectiveness of prayer.

Will god’s plans fail if I don’t pray? God is not subservient to us or dependent upon our prayers. The time we invest in speaking with Him involves us in the work He is doing in our lives and in the world, but He will carry on with or without us. Labouring alongside the Lord is a blessing.

Does my prayer (or lack thereof) impact god’s work? I believe Scripture indicates the answer to this question is both yes and no, depending upon the situation. There are times when God’s purpose is set. He is in control and has determined the best course. In the Old Testament, He often revealed what He would do and then brought those events to pass.

In other cases, we “do not have because [we] do not ask” (James 4:2). There are some good things that God holds back until we extend prayerful hands to receive them. But He is a loving Father, who also pours out blessings that we wouldn’t even think to request.

Believer’s prayers have tremendous impact, particularly on their own faith and life. Do you understand what an awesome privilege it is to kneel before the all-powerful Father and know that He listens and will respond? God loves being good to His children and answering their prayers.

John 17:1-26
When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. ...

1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing,

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Religion / The Key To Surviving Tough Times by yommyuk: 7:25pm On Feb 09, 2016
Every one of us will experience periods when life is hard. Financial pressure, family trouble, health issues, business difficulties, opposition within the church—the list of potential problems that we could face is endless. It is, therefore, essential that we learn to respond in the way God desires.

Have you ever noticed how people respond differently to the same difficult situation? Some grow more focused while others fall apart or are even destroyed by the trial. How we respond depends on our perspective: Are we God-centred or trouble-centred?

The key is to learn how to walk in continual awareness of God’s presence. Moses demonstrated this in seeking to free the Israelite people from Egyptian slavery. He had learned to “see” our invisible God walking by his side and to be constantly mindful of His presence. Moses didn’t focus on the Egyptians, Pharaoh’s power, or even the Israelites he was leading. His focus was on God.

How aware are you of the Lord’s presence? Are you worrying less because you’re thinking more about His sovereignty? Are your fears receding as you consciously believe in His protection and all-sufficiency? Moses did not start out with this awareness; he had to learn and develop it. We, too, will learn as we deliberately seek Him.

1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

John 16:33
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Romans 8:18
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Jeremiah 29:11-13
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.

Religion / Steps Of Faith by yommyuk: 7:37pm On Feb 08, 2016
The Bible portrays the Christian life as a walk. It speaks of walking in the Spirit, in God’s ways, in love, and in truth. Our lives, then, shouldn’t be stagnant; they ought to move and develop to be increasingly like the life of Jesus. Scripture calls thissanctification. (See 1 Thess. 4:1-8.)

But what if you feel you’re going backward instead of forward? Turning around can happen only by faith in Christ. Here’s how to correct your course:

First, have assurance that God keeps every promise. The Bible contains an amazing number of guarantees for believers, including wisdom for the asking, God’s constant presence, and peace when we focus on Him.

Second, anticipate the Father’s response. In other words, joyfully expect that your confidence in His promises will lead to blessing.
Third, be aware daily of His involvement in your life. By spending time in the Word and prayer, you will become sensitive to what He is doing.

Fourth, pray boldly because you are God’s child (Heb. 4:16; Gal. 3:26). Approaching the Father in such a manner isn’t a prideful confidence, but an overflow of your assurance in Him.

Finally, obey the leading of the Holy Spirit. This is the true test of your belief. As James 2:17says, faith without action is dead.
Can you sense that your life is progressing and you are maturing into Christ’s likeness? Or do circumstances and character traits seem to hold you back? God promises to continue making His children beautiful throughout their lives. You can resist Him or cooperate with His gracious work in you.

1 Thess 4:3-8
God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. 4 Then each of you will control his own body[b] and live in holiness and honor— 5 not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways. 6 Never harm or cheat a fellow believer in this matter by violating his wife,[c] for the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before. 7 God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. 8 Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

Hebrews 4:16
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Galatians 3:26
For you are all children[m] of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

James 2:17
So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless

Religion / The Power Of Courage by yommyuk: 9:36am On Feb 02, 2016
What would you say if God asked you to lead many others, as He asked Joshua? Speak His words to prominent leaders, as He instructed Daniel? Become a traveling missionary like Paul? God wants us to respond with courage when He calls us to tackle something beyond our ability.

MEDITATION ON SCRIPTURE

We’re to search for its meaning as if hunting for treasure. With the Spirit’s help, we will understand how to apply the Bible’s wisdom to our situation.

OBEDIENCE
As we contemplate God’s truths, they become imprinted on our minds and influence our actions. Scripture is meant to shape our thinking and cause us to follow biblical principles. The more we think God’s way, the closer we’ll follow Him.

TRUST

Joshua crossed the Jordan River towards Jericho because he took God at His word.

REMEMBER PAST VICTORIES

Young David, the shepherd boy, did this effectively. Recalling God’s past protection gave him the courage to fight against the Philistine giant, Goliath (1 Sam. 17). Practicing these steps will empower us to focus on victory rather than defeat, disregard fearfulness in others, and obey God without alarm over possible consequences.

God wants His followers to bear witness of Him to an unbelieving and often hostile world. Will you speak the truth of Jesus Christ’s resurrection, His saving power from sin, and His promised return? The Lord is calling your name. How will you reply?

1 SAMUEL 17:32-37
32 “Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!”
33 “Don’t be ridiculous!” Saul replied. “There’s no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You’re only a boy, and he’s been a man of war since his youth.”
34 But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the 51flock, 35 I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. 36 I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! 37 The LORD who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!”
Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the LORD be with you!”

1 SAMUEL 41-51
41 Goliath walked out toward David with his shield bearer ahead of him, 42 sneering in contempt at this ruddy-faced boy. 43 “Am I a dog,” he roared at David, “that you come at me with a stick?” And he cursed David by the names of his gods. 44 “Come over here, and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and wild animals!” Goliath yelled.
45 David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.46 Today the LORD will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! 47 And everyone assembled here will know that the LORD rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the LORD’s battle, and he will give you to us!”
48 As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him. 49 Reaching into his shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground.
50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword. 51 Then David ran over and pulled Goliath’s sword from its sheath. David used it to kill him and cut off his head.

Religion / Quench The Urge To Judge by yommyuk: 1:28pm On Feb 01, 2016
You cannot draw conclusions as long as there is missing information. Things are never as they first appear. Reserve judgment. Never attempt to explain, or penalize someone for actions you do not fully understand.

John 7:24
Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

James 4:11-12
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbour?

Romans 2:1-3
Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God?

Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Religion / The Benefits Of The Spirit Of Discernment by yommyuk: 2:51pm On Jan 29, 2016
Spiritual discernment protects us from deception. Sin is always dressed up to look tempting and appealing; if we think what looks good and feels right must be OK, then we’re in danger of being misled by the enemy. When Satan tempts us, he never mentions consequences or negative impact
.
Spiritual discernment is our God-given capacity to judge what’s right and wrong. It protects us from the suffering that accompanies disobedience. Ignoring an agitation in our spirit—which I call “spiritual static”—is a step onto sin’s pathway. When looking for a radio station, we want clear reception. The same is true in our lives. We need a clear connection to the Holy Spirit to have peace and assurance that we’re doing the right thing and aligned with God’s will.

Sometimes an opportunity appears harmless or, more likely, very appealing. But if the Holy Spirit within us sends a signal not to pursue it, then we dare not—for some reason, God doesn’t want us in that situation. And though we can speculate, we may never know what danger we avoided by being obedient.

Sin doesn’t initially appear as the ugly, deceitful disobedience it is. Instead, it comes wrapped in a pretty package, one hard to resist. God’s children can see past the glitter and false beauty if they choose to look. This spiritual wisdom comes only from a clean heart and discerning spirit. An wise believer is one who makes prayer, repentance, and biblical training a regular part of his or her routine.

Romans 2:6-8
He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Religion / Why We Need Spiritual Discernment by yommyuk: 5:48pm On Jan 28, 2016
Too many people make decisions based on feelings or judge situations by what appears to be real. God has given every believer a spirit of discernment so we can determine what’s best.
Think about how many decisions a person must make on a daily basis—choices about family, finances, work, and more. Ideally, a decision would have a correct choice and an incorrect one. As a result, the choice would be easy. In reality, what seems right isn’t always what’s best. Some things, while neither wrong nor sinful, are nonetheless outside of God’s will for us.

Scripture doesn’t contain specific directives regarding every possible life scenario. Instead, it’s filled with principles laid down by direct teaching or, at times, through stories. Believers are able to grow in spiritual maturity so that biblical principles coupled with guidance from the Holy Spirit become tools for making godly judgments. The question isn’t whether a certain choice looks good or feels right, but whether it’s God’s will for that point in a person’s life.

A well-developed spirit of discernment is essential for living in God’s will. Without this sensitivity to the Lord’s plan, a man or woman takes everything at face value. Many choices that look good and feel right are actually contrary to what the Lord desires for a believer’s life. That is why we must evaluate situations from a biblical perspective.

John 7:24
Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

1 John 4:1 l
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Colossians 2:8
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

1 Corinthians 14:33
For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Religion / Overcoming Insecurity by yommyuk: 3:41pm On Jan 27, 2016
No quick solution exists for overcoming insecurity. First, we have to acknowledge we feel insecure. Then, we should try to identify what generates those feelings. Finally, we must decide to overcome that state of mind. Drifting into security is impossible; we must work toward it.

Having a sense of security involves more than just building self-esteem. Jesus Christ is our genuine source of strength and confidence. If we attempt to overcome our insecurity without Him, we’ll simply be masking it with our own efforts.

The way we see ourselves isn’t necessarily the way we truly are. Instead, we have to ask how the Lord sees us. To shift our focus from ourselves and our mistakes, we must get into God’s Word. Therefore, to overcome insecurity, we must first deal with any doubts we may have about the Bible. Scripture is so powerful that when we read what God says about us, our thinking starts to change, and we can step out of insecurity’s destructive mind-set.

To continue the process, focus on the positive qualities in your life. Take a blank sheet of paper, and ask the Lord to guide you in an honest assessment of your advantageous traits. You’ll be surprised at what God shows you about yourself. But it’s important not to look at others’ talents to see how you measure up. No one’s like you, so it’s pointless to make comparisons. Our mission is to follow Jesus in the way He calls us individually. Consequently, we can look to Him as our source of security.

Psalm 139:13-16
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17
Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.

John 15:15
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

Galatians 4:7
So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

John 1:12
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Religion / The Nature Of Insecurity by yommyuk: 4:25pm On Jan 26, 2016
Insecurity may not sound as explosive as landmines like pride or jealousy, but it, too, is a very dangerous pitfall. A great deal of damage can result in the life of a person who habitually feels insecure. Such feelings can develop from many different kinds of situations. We may experience tragedy, like the loss of a parent in our early life, or we may grow up in an environment that throws us off balance. Sometimes we feel insecure because of major failures we’ve experienced.

Whatever the root cause, the effects are often similar. We may be indecisive because our fear of making the wrong choice leads to avoid decisions altogether. Sometimes we have a difficult time establishing lasting relationships because we are afraid we won’t be a good friend. Or we might keep our distance from fear of rejection—people frequently perceive this as pride or snobbery.

Sooner or later, we may become critical of others. When we’re hurting, we often want other people to feel bad, too. At the same time, we can fall into the trap of believing success is based on approval and acceptance by others. The truth is that God has a special path for our lives, where success cannot be measured by human praise.

Insecurity isn’t something we can confess and thereby gain freedom. Rather, it’s a condition we must confront over a long period of time. Ultimately, we must decide to trust what God says about us and not what the enemy whispers.

Ecclesiastes 3:1
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

1 John 1:5

Religion / Let’s Walk With God by yommyuk: 8:50am On Jan 25, 2016
Enoch's walk with the Lord was so close that Scripture tells us, “God took him” (Gen. 5:24). This implies Enoch didn’t die but was taken directly into the presence of God. What a wonderful testimony!

As we seek to follow God with this same passion, let’s review some specific steps to help us keep up in our walk with the Lord.

RECONCILATION
This concept carries the sense of God moving toward us. We can be joyful because the responsibility is all His. Through the cross of His Son Jesus Christ, God has already made His move in our direction. Scripture says, “Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Cor. 5:18). When we trust in Christ, we immediately take part in that reconciliation.

TRUSTING GOD

We must have faith, not only that God is concerned with our walk, but that He has, through Jesus Christ, provided all we need to walk intimately with Him anytime.

AGREEMENT

To appreciate the closeness God longs to have with us, we must agree with what Scripture teaches about His Son, His Word, the church, and our problem with sin.

FELLOWSHIP
Just as human relationships fall apart without regular contact, our intimacy with God weakens when we don’t spend time with Him.

Walking with God is not an impossible mission, but it does require careful attention to the details of our Christian lives. When we set our course for God, He’ll always be there to direct our paths (Prov. 3:5-6).

Deuteronomy 5:33

you are speaking parables. make a categorical statement please. what exactly are you saying?

I said that the spirit of your dead parents or ancestors cannot protect you. such beliefs are rampant in paganism not in Christianity.
Ecc 9:4-5 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

I am saying that the spirit and soul of a dead person is very much alive and kicking.

Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

if after death, your enemy's parents were judged and sent to hell, I doubt that they will be a blue to protect him from hell.
but if your parents were judged and are in heaven, how will they protect you on earth? would they take a casual leave?
this reasoning is carried over from paganism and idolatry. it is not mentioned any where in scripture not the slightest allusion to it.

well said. mothers are wonderful.

The bold above is another topic bro

The God of Israel is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God of the living, and not the dead. After the 1st death, the relationship with God continues. There are spiritual things hidden in the bible that only the SPIRIT OF GOD can reveal. We do not read the bible from a "Theoretical Perspective". There is a gap between Rhema and Logos. Both refer to the same thing (THE WORD), but are on different spiritual levels.

Proverbs 20:27
The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Why do u think some Christian denominations light candles on their altar while others don't. wink

"Let all the children of the Catholic Church, who are so very dear to us, hear these words of ours. With a
still more ardent zeal for piety, religion and love, let them continue to venerate, invoke and pray to the
most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, conceived without original sin. Let them fly with utter confidence
to this most sweet Mother of mercy and grace in all dangers, difficulties, needs, doubts and fears. Under
her guidance, under her patronage, under her kindness and protection, nothing is to be feared; nothing is
hopeless. Because, while bearing toward us a truly motherly affection and having in her care the work of
our salvation, she is solicitous about the whole human race. And since she has been appointed by God to
be the Queen of heaven and earth, and is exalted above all the choirs of angels and saints, and even
stands at the right hand of her only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, she presents our petitions in a
most efficacious manner. What she asks, she obtains. Her pleas can never be unheard" pope Pius ix.

you do not pray to your mother, do you
?

Obviously not! But I do know that our departed parents spirit does protect us in some circumstances.

I do not belittle the task given to Mary to carried the son of God for 9 months. But I Will implore u to do your biblical research, and u will find out that Jesus Christ did not say we should worship his early mum. Only God and his son are worthy of worship.

It's a known and accepted fact that Mary is the mother of the Christ...but It is always disputed whether she should be honored or not.

Revelations 12 is a chapter dedicated to Mary and tells how the dragon tried to destroy her and the child she brought forth. God protected her and so did the earth. If God felt the need to protect her and the earth on which we exist also protected her and because of her offspring, a war broke out in Heaven...please!!! make me understand why y'all don't want us to honor her!

She is the mother of the Christ...the mother of the word which was with God and which is God and through Him all things were made. (John 1:1)... She is the mother of the church as authorized by Jesus before His passing (John 19:26-27)... She deserves to be Honored!!!

To honour? Yes. To Worship? No.

Even the Bible stated clearly that we should honour our parents. So to honour Mary, is just doing the Norm
Religion / The I Am That I Am by yommyuk: 8:02am On Jan 22, 2016
David’s cries for help fill the pages of the Psalms. His prayers are a blend of requests and worship recalling God’s greatness, love, power, and protection. Praying with recognition of God’s amazing attributes reminds us He has the wisdom, strength, and compassion to meet all our needs. Here are examples of this type of prayer:

OMNIPRESENT GOD

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” (Ps. 139:7). God is everywhere. He’s not limited by time or space—we are never away from His awareness for a single moment. So, even when we feel isolated or friendless, we’re not alone.

OMNISCIENT GOD
“Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite” (Ps. 147:5). God knows everything. When we bend our knees to pray to Him, He’s already aware of the feelings and needs we’re about to mention. So we can be certain that when we ask for direction, He’ll provide clear guidance if we’re submitted to His will.

OMNIPOTENT GOD
“As for me, I shall call upon God ... the one who sits enthroned from of old ... with whom there is no change” (Ps. 55:16, 19). God’s character is constant. Since we can always trust He’ll be faithful, reliable, and merciful, we can place our confidence in Him no matter the situation.

When believers recall an attribute of God that meets their needs, they place the focus of their prayers on the Lord rather than on the request. By mixing praise into our prayers, we end up asking for less, worshipping better, and receiving more because our emphasis is in the right place.

1 Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Malachi 3:6
“For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.

Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Numbers 23:19
God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfil it?

Religion / Peace In A Storm by yommyuk: 2:23pm On Jan 21, 2016
Whenever a storm shows up in the life of a Christian, a good model to follow is that of a little bird. Among a bird’s weather management skills is the power to detect the air pressure changes that signal a coming storm, and with enough advance notice to prepare for adversity. Some birds are known to sleep with their head peacefully under their wings among rocks during storms. I call that peace in the midst of a storm.

In Christ, we can relax and be at peace in the midst of confusion, bewilderment and perplexities of life. The storm rages, but our heart are at rest. Like Jesus sleeping in the boat during the storm. We can find peace no matter the storm.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Matthew 8:23-27
And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marvelled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”

Psalm 107:29
He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.

Psalm 34:17-20
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.

Nahum 1:7
The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.

Psalm 91:1-16
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, ...

Religion / Let Your Conviction Be Your Defence by yommyuk: 2:36pm On Jan 19, 2016
A person of conviction has become convinced, by either evidence or argument, that his or her beliefs are true. Today, most people would rather live by preferences than by convictions. They choose to believe something based on conditions and circumstances. When situations change, so does their loyalty. Many people vacillate on issues that require a firm resolve.
Contrast this wishy-washy approach with the mind-set of the great men and women depicted in Scripture. Despite years of unfair treatment, Joseph never wavered in his commitment to godly principles. As a result, he was in the right place at the right time to ensure the survival of Israel (Gen. 50:20). Daniel, another righteous man living in an idolatrous land, earned the trust of foreign kings by standing firm in his beliefs (Dan. 1:19-20). When his friends Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego also refused to compromise their beliefs, they influenced a king to recognize Jehovah as the one true God (Dan. 3:29).

As these biblical heroes show, godly convictions withstand the changing winds of opinion and the persuasive arguments of opponents. If we’re grounded in the Word and trust what God has said, we can stand firm in our beliefs. Confidence breeds the courage to remain strong amid the conflicts entering our lives.

Instead of following your own preferences, choose to live a life ruled by godly convictions. Scripture says much about what’s most important in life. See if God’s principles and promises hold true. Through prayer and study, allow the heavenly Father to firmly root you in solid biblical convictions.

John 3:19-21
And this is the judgement: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

Colossians 2:2
My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ

2 Corinthians 1:24
Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm.

1 Corinthians 16:13
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

Happy is the man who has learned the secret of coming to God in daily prayer. Fifteen minutes alone with God every morning before you start the day can change circumstances and remove mountains! But all of this happiness and all of these unlimited benefits which flow from the storehouse of heaven are contingent upon our relationship to God. Absolute dependency and absolute submission are the conditions of being His child. Only His children are entitled to receive those things that lend themselves to happiness; and in order to be His child, there must be the surrender of the will to Him. Man does not come to know God through works-he comes to know God by faith, through grace. You cannot work your way toward happiness and heaven, you cannot moralize your way, you cannot reform your way, you cannot buy your way. It comes as a gift of God through Christ.

Psalm 146:5
“Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God”

Nothing takes God by surprise. Everything is moving according to a plan, and God wants you in that plan. The devil also has a plan for the world. God has a plan and the devil has a plan, and you will have to decide which plan you are going to fit into. Scripture says that God allows us 70 years and some beyond. The first 15 are spent in childhood and early adolescence. Twenty years are spent in bed, and in the last five, physical limitations start to curtail our activities. That gives us about 30 years in which to live as adults. We take time out for eating, and for figuring our taxes, and we are down to perhaps 15 years. Now suppose we spend seven of those years watching television. That cuts us down to seven or eight years. Our time is short! The time we can invest for God, in creative things, in reaching our fellow men for Christ, is short!

Colossians 4:5
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; ...

John 17:4
I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.

Psalm 90:12
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

Romans 13:11
Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.

One of the questions a HR person will ask a prospective employee is to give a brief answer to the question, “Who are you?” Take the same test yourself. When you have made your list and run out of things to add, ask yourself if you have truly answered. Do you really know who you are?

In our desperate search for role models or mentors, we seek heroes and imitate others by cutting and pasting bits and pieces of other people on ourselves.” We want to live large like celebrities. We dress like A list actors/actresses. Part of this process is natural, for we learn by imitating others. The tragedy is that the person we assemble is not genuine. “Who am I?” you cry as you roam the world looking for yourself.

Consider this: there are three of you. There is the person you think you are. There is the person others think you are. There is the person God knows you are and can be through Christ.
Out of the three listed above, choose who you really are.

1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

John 1:12
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

Galatians 3:26
For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

John 15:15
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
Ephesians 5:1-2

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

As Christians, we have the Spirit of God in us. But ours is the responsibility to keep sin out of our lives so that the Spirit can produce His fruit in us. Become grounded in the Bible. As Christians, we have only one authority, one compass: the Word of God. Abraham Lincoln in a letter to a friend said, “I am profitably engaged in reading the Bible. Take all of this Book upon reason that you can, and the balance upon faith. You will live and die a better man.” Begin the day with the Book; and as the day comes to a close, let the Word speak its wisdom to your soul. Let it be the firm foundation upon which your hope is built. Let it be the Staff of Life upon which your spirit is nourished. Let it be the Sword of the Spirit which cuts away the evil of your life and fashions you in His image and likeness.

Proverb 13:13
“Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.”
