Reading the posts and it seems some people are missing the point.

While it may be necessary to cordone off certain routes as a security precaution for Mr president, I expect his security detail to have his travel itinerary and so they only have to block off the routes a few minutes before he passes or at least provide alternative routes for motorists. that is just being responsible.

Also got caught in the traffic snarl, spent 3 hrs in my car listening to my ipod till the battery ran out!!!!!

The 2nd picture is from Eko bridge where we had to reverse down the bridge against incoming traffic cos it was gridlocked, only to end up on 3rd mainland bridge cursing my luck.

If you drive a vechicle in Lagos city, then you will know exactly how aggravating this can be.

If it ain't moronic okada riders with a death wish weaving around your car, then it's "danfo" buses stopping in the middle of the highway to pick up/discharge passengers,

I was cruisng to work in my spanking new ride, all paid for in cash and get to a cross road patiently waiting my turn. Upon getting the green light, i start to move and out of the bowels of hell itself comes an okada rider who broadsides me before i can even yell Holy Mary, Mother of God! As i'm getting out the car to see the extent of damage, the okada dude starts to beg me, lies underneath my tire and begs me to run over him. This guy had totalled my bumper though lucky enough, my headlights/fog lamps were not smashed. I was livid with rage. Of course, people came and started begging me to forgive him and he couldn't afford to pay for the damage. In the end, his idiocy cost me more than 100 grand cos i had to buy a new bumper. Even though my car is comprehensively insured, I had to pay immediately cos it takes a while for me to collect on my insurance. Even after collecting the insurance, the thievin" insurance firm refused to pay the 30 grand of the costs of repair.

It dosen't get much better in Abuja either. Cos they got good roads, people tend to drive at break neck speed and when they suddenly get to a cross road or t junction, wham bam, ***** you ma'am!

Had to rent cars in London and Jo'burg during my Vay kay and wasn't much better either! only difference is that in sandton, you don't go cursing out the bus drivers cos chances are he's strapped and won't hesitate to peforate you like those counterfeit notes they put up in banks.

I know buddies that drive around with base ball bats to express themselves in language you understand or horse whips (koboko) to flog the living hell outta a fool.
