Nairaland GeneralNigeria, Three Other Countries To Receive $639million From President Trump by youngdav(op): 10:41pm On Jul 08, 2017
US President, Donald Trump, on Saturday pledged to donate $639million in aid to feed people facing starvation because of drought and conflict in North-East Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen.

Trump’s pledge came during a working session of the G20 summit of world leaders in Hamburg, Germany, the UN World Food Programme (WFP), Executive Director, David Beasley, said on the sidelines of the meeting, according to Reuters.

Acting Head, Bureau of Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Rob Jenkins, confirmed that Nigeria will get $121million from the money.

Similarly, more than $191million would go to Yemen, $199million to South Sudan and nearly $126million for Somalia.

“With this new assistance, the United States is providing additional emergency food and nutrition assistance, life-saving medical care, improved sanitation, emergency shelter and protection for those who have been affected by conflict,” USAID said in a statement

Jenkins said conflicts in the four countries, had made it difficult to reach some communities in need of food.

“We’re in a dire situation right now. The situation in southern Ethiopia fortunately does not rise to the dire situation of the other four, but the situation is deteriorating and might very well be catastrophic without additional interventions,” he said

Nairaland GeneralBuhari Makes History, Inspires New Political Term In English Language [screensho by youngdav(op): 8:53am On Jul 08, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari has inspired a new word in the English lexicon.

The new word is ‘Buharism’.

With the feat, Buhari has made history as the first Nigerian to have a political term – “Buharism” named after him, enter the dictionary.

Meanwhile, online encyclopaedia – Wikipedia – has explained Buharism as a term ”rooted in the politics of Nigeria, referring to the economic principles and the political ideology of the military government of Nigeria headed by General Muhammadu Buhari from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985.

”This ideology shares common features with fascism; the government was a right-wing nationalist government that pursued corporatist economic programs and curtailed personal freedoms.

“Economic reforms were characterised as moving the political economy away from the control of a ‘parasitic’ elite, and into the control of an emerging ‘productive’ class.

“Buharism represented a two-way struggle: with external global capitalism and with its internal agents and advocates.”

Health6 Tips That Will Make Your Pimples Clear Very Fast by youngdav(op): 5:04pm On Jul 07, 2017
Everyone who has pimples just wants one thing, for them to go away and leave a fresh, smooth skin just like that of FitnessDoctor. But you have to understand that when you are trying to get rid of pimples you must follow practices which will not only make pimples go away but stay away.

I remember how the big bumps killed my confidence and made me think less of myself. I could imagine looking into someone’s eyes and seeing my face filled with them.

What I am sharing here is what I experienced when trying to get rid of pimples and how everything changed when I started doing the right thing and till today, I don’t worry about pimples. Although I have removed one of my biggest tricks to help smoothen my face (it is for my subscribers only).

So here are 7 tips that will make your pimples clear very fast

First you need to understand. Pimples are normal if you are a teenager and will keep coming and coming.. The solutions I am going to give you is going to reduce them, and eventually help scars fade away, but you have to follow everything I say..

1. BATHING
Bathing is one of the most important, you have to be careful the way you bathe your face..

Start bathing twice or thrice a day. When bathing in the morning, be careful the way you rub the sponge on your face. Do it carefully, but remember to scrub. When bathing at night, use only soap instead, don’t ever use sponge. Try bathing one hour before bedtime and always sleep before 12.

2. FOOD
Foods like Margarine (butter), groundnut, chips and other foods can make increase your chances of getting pimples. The main reason is that these foods contain a certain kind of acid which increases the chances of an inflammation happening on your skin.

Better stay away from these foods or consume more foods containing omega-3 fatty acids like fish to balance your consumption of Butter, groundnut etc which contain omega-6 fatty acids.

3. HANDS
Never use your hands to touch your face, and never scratch the pimples, never burst them with your fingers or pinch them. When the pimples are ripe and ready for bursting, use the sharp end of a broom stick or needle to poke at it and gently press the pus away, don’t press too hard or it will turn into a scar..

4. SUN, STRESS AND SPERM
Stay away from the sun and try to reduce stress. I noticed that these two things cause an outbreak of pimples on my face and most especially the sun.

Try not to have sex or any activity that will make you release sperm, it might sound weird, but the release of sperm can lead to more pimples especially in teenagers.

5. WATER
Drink enough water to leave your skin fresh and radiant, also water helps cool down your body. Drink 8 – 10 glasses of water everyday. This is a very important tip that I FitnessDoctor follow up till today.

6. CREAM
Watch your cream, in my case a cream lead to my pimples, and I stopped using it.. But everything changed when I went back to using that same cream. It might be different for you, so I advice you check the cream you are using at the moment and look for the one which is best for your skin.

I advice you go for a cream which is hydroquinone free.

Try them out and check back how your face will look like within two weeks, although there were two products I mixed that helped me clear the very dark spots I noticed that they couldn’t keep the pimples away until I started following all these 6 tips.

Stay Healthy, Stay Wise

Nairaland GeneralCheckout The 4 Extra Things Most Banks Charge Customers For (no. 3 Is Quite Anno by youngdav(op): 1:44pm On Jul 06, 2017
NOIPolls recently conducted a public poll and it revealed that about 80% of Nigerians are worried about the incessant and indiscriminate bank charges levied on their accounts by commercial banks.

The poll shows that about 71% of Nigerians consider the charges unfair in relation to the services rendered by the banks.
According to the poll, 72 percent of respondents say they have been noticing various deductions from their bank accounts; such as SMS charges (49 percent), ATM / Debit Card maintenance (46 percent) and 65 Naira charge after 3 withdrawals per month (38 percent) amongst other charges.
Below is a chart of the results of the poll:

The above chart shows a list of some of the charges, commercial bank customers find the most frustrating. Below is a list:

1. SMS charges
When you receive SMS alerts for debit and credit transactions, you do not think of it really, until the bill for it comes at the end of the month.
2. ATM charges
Some people ask the banks, why it charges them for ATM card maintenance, when they are the ones who take care of the cards. The charges are quite noticeable at the end of the year.
3. Withdrawal charges
The withdrawal charges were previously at N100 per withdrawal, now they have been reduced to N65 when you use an ATM that does not belong to your bank. Still, the charges add up and Nigerians find it annoying.
4. Interbank transaction charges
When the bank charges for interbank transactions, it can also be quite frustrating to customers, although, there has been a significant reduction in such charges

Nairaland GeneralDo You Use Whatsapp? Be Careful, These Are 6 Whatsapp Scams You Must Avoid by youngdav(op): 1:34pm On Jul 06, 2017
If you a big fan of the instant messaging service, WhatsApp, then these are certain scams you must watch out for.

Created in 2009 as an alternative to text messaging, WhatsApp is today one of the world’s most popular instant messaging services with more than one billion users in 180 countries. According to a May 2016 report from a research firm, SimilarWeb, WhatsApp is the top chat app in 109 countries, which represents 58 per cent of the 187 countries covered in the survey. Facebook acquired WhatsApp in 2014 to make a bigger play in the rapidly growing messaging market, along with its own Messenger platform. At the time the deal was announced, WhatsApp had 450 million users worldwide.

Considering the popularity and widespread usage of WhatsApp, even among the older generations in countries such as Nigeria, it is no surprise that the attention of hackers and other unscrupulous individuals have shifted to the medium in a bid to exploit loopholes that could be used to swindle unsuspecting users of their money or other sensitive information.
Here are six WhatsApp scams you should look out for:

1. WhatsApp Gold
The offer of an upgrade to WhatsApp Gold is a fraud that starts with a message via social networks in which WhatsApp users are invited to click on a link to update their app to the inexistent Old version (Gold version), which offers the users a suite of new and exclusive features. According to the research and development unit of Yudala, the link takes the user to a web page where, if he wants to use these improvements, he has to give his phone number. Interestingly, users who go on to give their number will be subscribed to a premium SMS service: each text message that you receive will cost you just a meagre sum.
Global attention was initially drawn to the existence of this scam by the Spanish National Police and Civil Guard when it reported the existence of an expensive scam costing users £36 per month. Since then, the scam has also been reported in a number of countries.
It is important to point out that there is only one version of WhatsApp; so caution is the watch-word should you get a similar invitation to upgrade to WhatsApp Gold.

2. WhatsApp Plus
According to the research and development unit of Yudala, this is another scam perpetrated by faceless individuals seeking to cash in on the ubiquitous usage of WhatsApp. WhatsApp Plus claims to let users send pictures, videos and music files of an unlimited size. This is in addition to allowing subscribers use WhatsApp with more than one number, a feature that is highly sought after by many users of the app. However, WhatsApp Plus is not associated with WhatsApp and the Facebook-owned service bans users who have also downloaded the fake app onto their device. A bold disclaimer was recently issued by WhatsApp to alert users to the existence of the fake app.
“WhatsApp Plus is an application that was not developed by WhatsApp, nor is it authorised by WhatsApp. WhatsApp Plus contains source code which WhatsApp cannot guarantee as safe and that your private information is potentially being passed to third parties without your knowledge or authorisation,” the statement said.
And to demonstrate its stance, WhatsApp blocks users that have downloaded the unsolicited version of the app, with users having to wait an additional 24 hours to get the ban lifted after deleting the fake app.

3. WhatsApp browser fraud
With the launch of WhatsApp’s browser platform, hackers created a number of similar-looking fraudulent websites to gain access to the sensitive data and bank details of unsuspecting users. Some of the tactics employed by these fraudulent websites include requesting users to download a seemingly harmless application onto their computers, which, in actuality, is a malicious software that allows the cybercriminals access to confidential information such as banking information. Another very popular strategy is to request the phone number of the unknowing users and then subscribe them to downloading premium services that charge special rates.
To avoid falling a victim, it is pertinent to bear in mind that there is only one browser version of WhatsApp, which is absolutely free. Most importantly, you do not have to download anything to your computer to use it.
4. WhatsApp video calling invite

In late 2016, WhatsApp rolled out video-calling feature for Android, iOS and Windows users. The feature, which was long anticipated, was made available for downloads via update available to all users. However, the rollout of this popular feature has created new opportunities for scammers who circulate malicious links inviting people to download video-calling. Shortly after the video-calling feature was introduced on November 15, 2016, WhatsApp users began receiving an invitation link for it. Once the user clicks on the given link, he is directed to a webpage to enable the new feature. The spam message reads, “You’re invited to try WhatsApp Video Calling feature. Only people with the invitation can enable this feature.” And once a user clicks on the link, it redirects to a website that has been designed to look believable.
Once a gullible user clicks on the ‘enable’ tab, he/she is immediately directed to a new page that requires user verification. You would then be asked to share and invite four other friends to enable this feature through the same link. Though the entire page and the process look credible, mere clicking on this link can expose you to spammers, making you extremely vulnerable to hacking.
Please note that the correct way to enable video calling feature is to update your WhatsApp app through your Google Playstore or Apple Store. As soon as it is updated, the feature will be automatically enabled.

5. Fake WhatsApp voicemail
This is another scam that arose with the introduction of voice calls on WhatsApp. However, this scam, often perpetrated via email, does not seek to take advantage of the voice-calling feature but aims to trap unsuspecting users with the introduction of a related service. The fake WhatsApp Voicemail fraud starts when a user receives an email, notifying him of an unread voice message in the non-existent WhatsApp voicemail. When the user clicks on the large “Autoplay” button that supposedly allows you hear the message, there is no message. Instead, a malicious software introduced by a hacker is downloaded on the device. This is usually the gateway for the scammers to compromise or gain access to the user’s bank details, credit card information and other personal data. This approach was recently used by a Canadian pharmacy spam website in trying to sell its fake pharmaceutical products. The perpetrators were of the view that disguising their spam message as something completely unrelated to pharmaceutical products would help it bypass spam filters as well as trick recipients into clicking the link and visiting the site.
The best way to remain protected from this particular scam is to remember that there is presently no WhatsApp voicemail.

6. WhatsApp Spy
Despite the existence of WhatsSpy Public, an application invented by Dutch developer, Maikel Zweerink, that allows you to spy on your WhatsApp contacts by tracking the user’s online status, last time of connection and any changes made to profile photos, there is another scam app that claims to go one step ahead by offering a service that allows anyone to read the conversations of others. Known as WhatsSpy, this is a fraud in which ignorant users are tricked into downloading an app, through which malicious software are introduced into the user’s device. Understandably, a number of individuals will go to great lengths to be able to read the conversations of others, especially as a means of keeping tabs on cheating spouses or for other similar purposes. This has contributed in no small measure to many falling victim to the WhatsSpy scam.
To reiterate the fact, WhatsApp messages are encrypted and as such, you cannot remotely read other people’s conversations. WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption ensures only you and the person you’re communicating with can read what is sent and nobody in between, not even WhatsApp. Your messages are secured with a lock and only the recipient and you have the special key needed to unlock and read your message. For added protection, every message you send has a unique lock and key. All of this happens automatically: no need to turn on settings or set up special secret chats to secure your messages.

The existence of end-to-end encryption has remained one of the major factors that have contributed to the growing popularity of the Facebook-owned service.

EducationDania, OAU First Class Graduate Breaks Record Of 28 Years by youngdav(op): 5:36pm On Jul 01, 2017
Eunice Dania set a record at the Department of Physical and Health Education, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife when she made first class; the first time in 28 years, despite being a dancer who performed at different events regularly. In this interview with TUNDE AJAJA, the 25-year-old, who also made Distinction in her Master’s programme, talks about her days in school and the level she’s taking her dancing passion to.

The basic understanding many people have about Physical and Health Education is the one they did in primary school. What does this course entail at the tertiary level?

Physical and Health Education is deeper than the layman’s definition of it. It is a subject matter that touches every aspect of life. Through involvement in activities, individuals can develop themselves mentally, physically, emotionally and socially. It helps individuals to make meaning of the world around them and think critically by exploring health-related and movement contexts. It also takes a preventive approach, rather than a curative one, towards the incidence of diseases. It entails the mechanics and analysis of movement (biomechanics), socialisation (sociology), understanding of the structures and functions of the human system (anatomy and physiology) and the study of mental practices (psychology) towards promoting purposeful and goal-directed movement for healthy living (kinesiology).

You must have had deep interest in the course to have first class in it, was it the course you had always wanted?

I wanted to study International Relations but I was given Physical and Health Education. I decided to take up the course, but I sat the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination again hoping to change to drop the course. I realised the course was more than I had perceived it to be, so I began to love it and I stuck with it. However, I had the plan to have first class but it didn’t come easy, especially from Obafemi Awolowo University, and a department that had not produced a first class in 28 years. It was challenging but I was able to overcome the challenges through prayer, hard work, discipline and determination.

How many of you had first class in your department?

I was the only one in my set.

How would you have felt if you didn’t make first class?

Although, it is not the determinant of success in life, I still would have been devastated because of the efforts I put into it.

Would you know if there was anything people didn’t do for those 28 years that you did?

I don’t think I did anything that had not been done before, so I really cannot say why it was difficult and my department had the best lecturers I can think of. But as I said, I prayed, worked hard and smart, avoided procrastination, attended lectures, read my books and gave my best. Every individual has their own style and pace of learning. I had to take the time to figure out what worked for me, recognise and improve on my weaknesses and capitalise on my strengths; always ready to know more and constantly seeking ways to improve on myself. I have never been comfortable with ‘average’. I believe that has always been the reason why it’s either I give my best to something or I don’t attempt it at all. Excellence and greatness have a price; they never come easy. It involves working hard and smart, discipline, faith, determination and commitment. These principles have always been my watchword and applying them without any second thoughts has always worked for me.

Were there things about your growing up that prepared you never to settle for average or it has to do with personal decision?

All thanks to God and my parents who gave me the needed support (advice, discipline, encouragement and memories). Growing up was fun and memorable. Those memories cannot be forgotten, because they came along with several experiences, lessons and values which have helped in shaping and moulding me into the woman I’ve grown to become. I can’t seem to forget study time with my parents. Dad was my mathematics teacher. He would help me with whatever difficulty I was having in the subject. Mum, on the other hand, would wake me up every night to study. Sometimes, she would sit with me all through the night to make sure I was not dozing off and ask me questions afterwards. Any question missed would attract several strokes of the cane. It wasn’t tea party for me, but those days prepared me for the future and I’m glad about the progress I’ve made so far. In my previous schools, I always had impressive performances. I remember bagging the prizes in all subjects except Yoruba in my secondary school. I always took first position both in primary and secondary school.

Apart from being the best in your department, were there other awards you won as an undergraduate?

Yes, I won the most outstanding female and most academic sought-after female of the department. I also won the Prof. Babatunde Fafunwa award for the best graduating student with the highest CGPA in my faculty.

What was the extreme thing you ever did for the sake of your academics?

When I read for 48 hours at a stretch.

Some people would think you would have read throughout to have that kind of result. Were you involved in other activities?

I didn’t read throughout; I was involved in other activities. I made sure I slept from 8pm to 11pm and then read from 11pm to 4am every day. Besides, I was involved in other activities. I like dancing and writing. I was in two dance crews and was the editor-in-chief of the National Association of Physical and Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance News and also belonged to the editorial unit in church. Those activities were equally demanding. I would travel to perform at dance events and competitions and go for overnight rehearsals, write for magazines and stay up to meet deadlines for submission. Ordinarily, I was doing rehearsals every day and the duration varied and there were times we had overnight rehearsals and I had to go to class the following morning. The most important thing was creating a balance and doing the right thing at the right time. I really wanted the best out of both worlds. It was a challenging feat but I was able to pull through with the help of God.

How did you start being a dancer and choreographer?

I started dancing from secondary school. It gets me excited seeing people move their bodies. I realised I could do some of those movements very well. I started getting interested, formed a dance crew and we performed at special events in school. The experience in the university was not any different. I joined a dance crew, performed on stage and events, and became recognised in OAU. I started getting referrals to teach people how to dance. I really can’t describe what dance means to me. I’m very passionate about it and it makes me very happy.

Was it that you went to learn it or it started since you were young?

I didn’t learn it. I realised it was something I could do, naturally. Although, as dancers, there are certain moves that need to be learnt and internalised.

Which would you consider as your biggest stage to have featured?

The best stage I ever featured was at Aso Rock at the YOUWIN conference. Having to dance in front of the then President Goodluck Jonathan was an honour. Also, I was given the ever ready member award and best female dancer award by my crew (Shake up’ crew), and best female dancer, Obafemi Awolowo University (2009). I was named the best female dancer, Malta Guinness street dance competition, 2010. These mean a lot to me.

Were your parents supportive or there were times they chastised you?

My parents didn’t know I danced in school, until they heard from friends that I was on TV. Since my academics wasn’t affected, they were very supportive.

How did you feel the first time you saw yourself on TV?

I was excited; I mean very excited. That was when I went for Malta Guinness Street dance and the judges made wonderful remarks about my performance, so that meant a lot. That was in my third year. I was really excited.

But oftentimes, people see dancers as unserious people, in terms of academics. Were there people who saw you like that?

A lot of people saw me as unserious when I was a fresher. My results proved a lot of them wrong. Most of them had to change their notion about dancers. I was given the nickname ‘unique dancer’ and ‘first class dancer’ because of that.

That venture must have raised your income significantly?

At first, it was just for fun but it fetched me some money later on. But more importantly, it gave me lots of exposure and opened doors for me to meet people. There were people who tried to discourage me. They told me to leave one for the other; that it was impossible to combine both. But, to me, I believe impossibility is nothing. I enjoyed it all the way.

Were there times your practice or events clashed with your lectures or tests?

Yes, a lot, but I always knew my primary assignment was my studies. I chose my academics over rehearsals. My performance was superb in my first year with a CGPA of 4.8. so, I learnt to prioritise.

Would you say the course you studied has helped your passion for dancing?

Even though PHE was not the course I wanted, it has in a lot of ways helped to build flexibility, stamina, strength, endurance, balance and co-ordination. It has helped my dance a lot.

If you have so much interest in dancing/choreography, why didn’t you consider going for Theatre Arts?

Dancing in secondary school was just for fun. I didn’t think I would go deeper into it while in the university. I believe Physical and Health Education was just what God wanted for me and the best course for me to build certain components and qualities that I needed to have as a dancer.

Would you want to go into full scale dancing, like a venture, or you want to practise your profession?

I would love to do both. They are interwoven and very much related. I believe doing both won’t be a bad idea.

So what are your aspirations?

To be the most sought after exercise physiologist as a result of my work and contribution to society and a strong advocate for dance to be accepted and recognised as a sporting activity in Nigeria and beyond. Also, I really would love to be a lecturer. I love writing, reading and conducting research. Being a lecturer will give me the opportunity to do that. If I’m not one, I would love to be on my own, acting as a consultant for several organisations as an exercise physiologist.

Why do you think students fail?

Misplaced priorities, inadequate preparation and indiscipline. I think students should put God first, they should be disciplined, determined and work hard. They shouldn’t listen to negative voices that tell them they can’t achieve certain things. Believe in yourself and give your best.

Men are usually attracted to ladies who know how to dance. What was it like for you?

Of course, it attracted a lot of guys, but I have a principle. I took them as friends and drew the line. So, I was able to keep friends as friends and fans as fans.

What were you doing between when you left school and when you went for Master’s?

I was working. I worked in a school, I worked in a hospital and I had some contract jobs. I actually left to do my Master’s in Exercise Physiology, which I concluded last year, because I love the academics. Right now, I’m working on my own project to gather some money before I go for my Ph.D., which costs a lot of money.

HealthMust Read! Sugar Addicts… Here’s How To Cut Down by youngdav(op): 2:30pm On Jun 29, 2017
A lot of people have a serious sugar addiction and anyone who’s ever tried to cut sugar from their diet will tell you how difficult it is. I’m here to reassure you that it’s a lot harder than it sounds. Ok maybe I’m just speaking for myself; I definitely find it a struggle. However there are ways to gradually reduce your intake and ultimately phase it out completely.

On average we can consume up to 23 teaspoons of sugar per day, some consume more. Make no mistake; cutting down is a necessity, not a punishment. Most people know the dangers of sugar consumption and these same people (myself included) don’t apply it to their lives.

Eating too much sugar is bad for your health. You’ve heard it many times before. Excessive consumption can increase your risk for obesity, heart disease and a host of other health complications. The World Health Organisation recommends the average adult consume no more than 25 grams of sugar a day, but exceeding this is all too easy.
A single can of Coca-Cola, for instance, packs 39 grams of the stuff. And added sugar sneaks into unsuspecting edibles, like hamburgers and “healthy” Greek yogurts. Cutting back on your sugar intake is a smart choice, but it’s tough to know where to start. If you’re looking to slow down, start with a few of the tweaks below. Introduce them to your everyday routine, and eventually they’ll turn into a habit.

Make over your morning coffee
The two sugars you routinely put into your cup of joe can add up. Try reducing the amount of sugar you use little by little, and rely on full-fat dairy to provide satisfaction. See if your taste buds respond well to cinnamon; the spice pairs perfectly with coffee’s nutty hints, and is, above all, sugar free.

Quit your soft drink habit
Diet or regular, drinking any kind of soft drink promotes weight gain and amplifies sugar cravings. We’ve mentioned that a standard can of Coke contains 39 grams of sugar, enough to fill a person’s daily-recommended intake and then some. And even though the diet kind has no sugar marked on its label, it won’t do any good in the war against sugar. The artificial sweeteners in these drinks lead people to overeat, or overcompensate, for the lack of calories contained in the beverages.
Artificial sweeteners don’t offer the same hunger-dampening biological rewards that natural sweeteners do, causing the drinker to seek out something caloric. The sweetness in both diet and non-diet soda prompts side effects similar to addiction, making drinkers crave more sugar.
Snack on something healthy before food shopping

Researchers have found that snacking on something nutritious before supermarket shopping, like an apple, can actually encourage shoppers to purchase 25 percent more fruits and vegetables than they normally would. Fewer sugary items in your cart means there will be fewer sugary items at home, and fewer sugary items in your belly.
Avoid the sugary aisles
Now that you’ve had your apple, stick to the outer aisles of the supermarket, where conventional stores place the produce, meat and seafood departments, the foods you should focus on. If you avoid the aisles that contain shelves of near-irresistible sugary sweets, you’ll be less likely to buy them.
Find a new favorite condiment
Ketchup is a miracle flavor, but one of the reasons we all love it so much could be because it contains a whole lot of sugar. The sad reality is that dousing your fries in the red stuff is comparable to pouring a couple sugar packets on top. If you’re already eating fries, consider switching to a condiment with less sugar, like mustard or vinegar, instead.
Drink more water
Are you sure you’re hungry? Thirst and dehydration can often disguise themselves as hunger. To determine whether you’re actually hungry or simply thirsty, drink a cup of water and wait a moment. If you’re feeling good, your body was probably trying to tell you it was parched.
Avoid dried fruit
When given the choice, choose fresh over dried fruit. Dried fruit boasts many of the same benefits of its plumper counterparts, but removing a food’s water content concentrates the amount of sugar and calories per serving. A cup of grapes, for instance, contains 15 grams of sugar and around 60 calories. A cup of raisins contains 98 grams of sugar and nearly 500 calories.

Make your own salad dressing
Even if they taste savory, bottled salad dressings typically contain lots of sugar. Two tablespoons of Kraft’s Tuscan House Italian dressing, for example, contains two grams. This seems pretty minuscule, but chances are you’ll be dousing your greens in a serving way over two measly tablespoons. Making your own dressing at home is incredibly easy, and cheap! It will help you control how much sugar you’re ingesting when you’re eating something as healthy-seeming as a salad.

Here are some quick-fire sugar reduction tips:
Sweeten Yogurt Naturally
Fruit-on-the-bottom yogurts can contain almost 30 grams of sugar, much of it added. Try to opt for plain and mix in blueberries or sprinkle on cinnamon. That’s 2-4 teaspoons of sugar reduced per day.

Snack On Whole Foods And Grains
Instead of energy bars, candy, and cookies, eat nuts, vegetables, and fiber-rich fruits (like apples, pears, and berries) or whole grains, like popcorn. You would be reducing your sugar intake by 5-10 teaspoons full.

Dilute Your Fruit Juice
Fruit drinks account for about 10 percent of the added sugar in our diets. Mix your juice with an equal amount of water and you’ll halve the calories.

Change Your Cereal
Shelve the Frosties for steel-cut oats. Stir in a half scoop of vanilla protein powder for a sweetness kick. You’ll add about 10 grams of protein and save 2-4 teaspoons of sugar.
To quote a movie series that I tried to get into, may the odds be forever in your favour! I will also be trying to create habits from some of these, so good luck to us all

RomanceBest Way Ever!! 9 Ways To Break Up With Your Girlfriend Nicely by youngdav(op): 12:14am On Jun 29, 2017
Breaking up is hard when you don’t know what to tell her or how to end it. Find out how to break up with your girlfriend without hurting her.

There are many ways to break up with a girlfriend.

And none of them are easy, well, except for the coward’s way.

But rather than put up with a relationship that only causes you pain, sometimes it’s better to end it and move on.

If you’re indeed convinced that you can’t ever be happy in the relationship, or if you find yourself fantasizing about ways to end it, this may be for you.

Break ups are never easy to handle, be it a man or a woman.

It’s painful, heart breaking and worst of all, anyone who’s dumped by their partner is consumed by shame and depression.

If you still care about your girlfriend, look for ways to bring the love back into your lives.

But if everything you try fails, or if you only end up feeling more frustrated each time you try to hold the relationship together, brace yourself and end it.

– Ways To Break Up With Your Girlfriend Nicely –

There are different ways to break up with a girlfriend, some are easy and some ways are difficult.

But if you do want to know how to break up with your girlfriend gracefully without hurting her a lot, here’s the man way’s to end a relationship.

To break up with her like a man, you need to keep her feelings in mind and try to end the relationship in the nicest way possible. After all, chivalry does exist even in the middle of a break up.

1. Talk to her about the relationship

If you find that both of you are constantly arguing with each other over the smallest of things, there’s obviously something unresolved in the air.

If either of you can’t wait to pick a fight for no reason at all, or find yourselves getting annoyed with each other every now and then, perhaps, it’s time to have a frank conversation and understand the real reason behind all the animosity.

2. Don’t throw in an unexpected break up

If breakups are bad, unexpected breakups can just be horrible to bear. Never surprise your girlfriend with an unexpected break up, it can hurt a lot especially if she’s completely in the dark about the news and never expected it in the first place.

3. Ask for her opinion

If you’re trying to break up with your girlfriend, talk about it with her. When you’re having a conversation about your relationship after one of those big fights, ask for her opinion on the relationship.

Stay calm and ask her if she thinks it would be better if both of you were friends instead of lovers.

“I’ve been thinking about this… do you think we’re better off being friends? We’re working so hard on holding this relationship together, and still find ourselves in arguments all the time. Staying in love really shouldn’t be so difficult. I wonder where we’re going wrong…”

Throwing in an open ended question in a subtle manner can actually help your girlfriend understand where you’re going with the conversation. By talking about it with her instead of making a statement, you’re making her feel involved in the decision. It’ll be easier to handle. Mutual decisions are always easier to handle.

4. Is she ready to break up?

If she thinks the relationship is going nowhere too, then it’s all smooth and easy. And the best part, you’re not breaking her heart in one blow because it’s a mutual decision.

But if she isn’t ready to end the relationship and tells you that she wants to work on it, what do you intend to do? If you do care about your girlfriend, give the relationship a few weeks to see if things get better. Relationships always have a great way of healing themselves just when there’s no hope for love.

But if you want to break up with your girlfriend because you like someone else or just don’t see any reason in holding on, tell her the truth that you don’t see it working out.

Never lose your cool, and always speak in a calm and composed manner, even if your girlfriend gets angry with your decision.

5. Let her know of your special place

If even a few weeks of prolonging hasn’t helped your relationship, then speak about it again and ask your girlfriend what she thinks about the relationship. Tell her that you’re not very happy and think that perhaps, being friends is still the best way forward. Love is almost effortless, and never a chore. If you have to work a lot on trying to find happiness together, perhaps both of you are just incompatible.

Tell your girlfriend that you think being happy friends with each other would be a better alternative than lovers who end up hating each other. Let her know that you’ll cherish all the memories both of you have shared, and there will always be a special place for her in your heart. By letting her know that she’ll always be remembered fondly, she’ll find it easier to handle it, and it’s a lot better than a painful breakup with harsh words.

6. End it with finality

If you’re certain that you don’t intend to get back together, make it clear without being too harsh.

“I really do think we’ll find it a lot easier to be friends. We’ve been through this before. We break up and end up falling back in love all the time. But we’ve never been happy… and I don’t see how things can change anymore… I wish it could be different, but I don’t see that happening anymore.”

By ending it with an explanation, you’re letting her know clearly that you don’t want to continue the relationship anymore. Don’t ever give her hope. It’ll only create a complicated relationship which will only cause both of you more pain.

7. Be willing to be friends

Exes never make good friends. So once you do break up, it’s probably the end of the relationship. But leave the option to her. Let her know that you’ll always be there for her as a friend. Tell her that she could call you if she wants, but it would be better to avoid each other for a while until the wounds heal. Remind her that you love her too, but seeing that there’s no happy ending in sight, you see no option but to end the relationship before it becomes too painful to handle for either of you.

8. Tell her what’s on your mind

Be frank, but don’t be hurtful. Tell her you’ll always be there for her as a friend, as long she needs you. Don’t walk away on her after telling her how you feel about the relationship.

Walking away from a bitter or hurt new ex-girlfriend may seem like the right thing to do. But you have to remember that she may not be ready for the news. The thought of the sudden loneliness and the pain of having to hear about the break up may hurt her a lot. Stay with her until she feels better. If she accepts, be willing to even drive her back to her place. It’ll help her deal with the pain just knowing that you’re still willing to be there by her side, as a friend.

But if she walks away from you after the break up, let her go. Call her best friend if you must and tell her about it. Ask her friend to speak with your girlfriend and help her feel better.

9. Breaking up with your girlfriend like a man

You may ask yourself if it’s really necessary to follow all these steps. You could skip them if you want to. But as a real man who cares about a girl he once loved, it’s still his responsibility to help her get back on her feet, however much it may hurt him in the process.

Health6 Provoking Ways You Are Endangering Your Health, No 5 Will Amaze You . by youngdav(op): 12:07am On Jun 29, 2017
Health they say is wealth. Unfortunately, so many people treat their health status as unimportant. There are some day-day mistakes/acts you engage in that could actually be detrimental to your health.

Treating your health as a basic necessity makes you totally fit.

Below are some provoking ways you could endanger your health.

1.Poor Eating Habit

This is one aspect people tend to ignore. When you eat right, your health feels right. Fruits, vegetables are important part of healthy living. You don’t necessarily have to eat heavy meals or even complete the three square meal, but it is necessary to have a complete balanced diet.

When poor eating habit lingers on for long, it affects your mental and physical being. Excess fat is not right for the body. Try to eat less, avoid oversize portions, and replace sugary drinks with water. So many people are unnecessarily overweight.

2. Little or no exercise

The importance of exercise can never be overlooked. so many people are guilty of it, especially those in office environments. It does not take much of your time when you stretch your hands and legs. Sitting on the same spot for long hours could later lead to stroke, fat accumulation and so on.

Even if you don’t have an office job, take out time to walk round the house, register at a gym center just to keep fit.

3. Excessive thinking

It is not a big deal when you think and have time alone,it becomes an issue when you do it often. Excessive thinking could lead to depression if not checked. “Those likely to internalize stress are in greater danger; research has shown a benefit to laughter and social support,” Dr. Reynolds says. It is good to be in control of your thoughts, before they have a troll on you.

4. Reckless Lifestyle

This is also way people, especially youths endanger themselves. Excess alcohol is linked to a greater risk of high blood pressure, high levels of blood fats, and heart failure.

In addition, the extra calories can lead to weight gain, a threat to heart health. Smoking, extra loud music, keeping a sad face constantly is unhealthy and also a way of endangering your health.

5. Isolation from the world

So many people like to act like sadist. They shut down the world an create like a barrier between themselves and those around them. The importance of always having someone to talk to is deep.

People with stronger connections to family, friends, and society in general tend to live longer, healthier lives. They hardly have many things to worry about, everything just feels perfect. Everyone needs alone time, but you should still reach out to others and keep in touch whenever you can.

6. Stiffness

Truth is, we have our days when everything feels not so right, when worries takes a great part of our lives, but we shouldn’t let this completely affect us. Some people take life so seriously and hardly find time to relax and chill. It doesn’t hurt to go see movies, visit friends or amusement parks. Enjoy life and take it one step at a time.

HealthMust See! The 9 Dangerous Brain-damaging Habits You Need To Stop Immediately by youngdav(op): 9:52pm On Jun 26, 2017
It is so funny that “the one organ in our body that thinks is often the one we think less about.

The brain is an incredibly important body part, as it is one of the biggest one in the body and represents the main control center. It has multiple functions, responsibilities, and tasks, as well as lots of information stored”.

The brain is the most important organ in the body and it is high time we all start pay more attention to its health and welfare.

Below are some habits that harm the brain you might not be aware of:

Not sleeping well, lack of sleep is an habit that significantly hurt your brain. “It affects the hippo-campus which causes a deficit that automatically leads to forgetfulness”.

“Alone time can be great for thinking, reflection and mapping out your dreams and goals but when the solitude is too much it can damage the mind and body, it can typically cause brain decline, affect the quality and efficiency of sleep making it less restorative, erode arteries, create high blood pressure, undermine learning and memory and generally take a toll on health; although, most of these effects are gradual and experienced over the course of time”.

Eating too much junk food affects the part of brain that is linked to learning, memory and mental health.

“Playing loud music with earphones or headphones, placing the volume of your earphone or headphone at full volume can permanently damage your hearing, it can also cause brain problems involving loss of memory or inability to remember things easily, and loss of brain tissue in your later years, this is most likely because the brain has to work so hard to understand what’s being said around you that it can hardly store what you’ve heard into your memory”.

Because the body was made to move and the longer you remain unmoving and inactive it becomes more likely you are going to suffer from diseases like diabetes, heart diseases, stroke, dementia and high blood pressure which can all negatively affect the brain in the long run. “You don’t have to start high intensity workouts or start running marathons, just take a walk around your house more often or engage in an activity that gets you moving”.

Apart causing lung problems, smoking can also shrinks the brain, it makes the memory worse, makes one more forgetful and leads to problems like heart disease, dementia, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, lung cancer etc.

Overeating can lead to obesity which has been linked to different brain problems.

Staying indoor or in the dark for a long period, for better brain health it is important to expose yourself to natural light as often as you can as this will help prevent depression and keep your brain working well. “Staying in the dark or without natural light for prolonged periods, can slow your brain and cause a decline in the brain”.

Covered your head while sleeping will reduce your intake of oxygen during the night and while sleeping, one cannot feel the light-headedness or air deprivation, it also increase your risk of inhaling excess carbon dioxide.

PhonesWhat To Do If Your Smartphone Is Not Detecting Your SD Card (memory Card) by youngdav(op): 9:45pm On Jun 26, 2017
Solution 1 – gently rub the SD card

Maybe the reason why your SD card isn’t being detected is because
it’s covered with dirt. Follow the steps below to clean it up.
Take your external memory card off your Android smartphone or
tablet. Make sure that your device is turned off as you do this.

Use a white colored rubber eraser to rub the copper piece ( gold
yellow color ) on your MicroSD card.
Once you’re quite sure it’s clean, plug it back into the memory
slot and then turn your android smartphone or tablet on.

With any luck, it should work now and you shouldn’t have any more
problems with your MicroSD card not being detected on your handset.
But if the problem persists, move on to the second solution below

.
Solution 2 – erase SD card
This is the part where you delete everything on your external storage.
Follow the steps below.
Open the ‘ Settings ’ app on your device and then go to Storage .
Find the ‘ Erase SD card ’ option and tap on it. This deletes all data
and makes it look like a new memory.
In many cases, completely erasing the SD card has solved the
problem. But if it doesn’t work for you, move on to the third possible
solution below.

Solution 3 – use your PC to diagnose
At this stage, you need to do something more technical than just
wiping your MicroSD card or erasing its data.

Connect your Android device to a PC or laptop via the USB cable.
Ensure that the device is connected as MSC (Mass storage
mode) , not MTP (Media transfer mode) .
Launch windows explore on your PC and right click on the
MicroSD card driver. In the options that appear, choose
Properties>Tools>Error Checking . Wait for the process to
complete.
After completion, eject your SD card and put it back into the
memory slot on your phone or tablet. Check whether it works.

Solution 4 – format your SD card
In the case that your MicroSD card is being detected on the PC, but
not showing on your smartphone, go ahead and try this fix.
Create a folder on your PC’s hard disk storage, and name it as
you like. This folder will be used as a temporary storage to
backup files on your damaged card.
Paste the entire content of your microSD card into this folder.

Format your microSD card.
Once the format process is complete, copy back your data from
the folder into the microSD card.
Put it into your phone and check whether it’s showing.

If it doesn’t work, try repeating the steps again.
For most Android devices, any of these fixes should clear the SD card
not detected issue. For some devices, though, the problem could be
much more complicated, and you need to explore solutions that are
specific to that device to get help.

RomanceMUST SEE: Things You Shouldn’t Mention On The First Date by youngdav(op): 8:47pm On Jun 26, 2017
In most cases, men just don’t watch what they say on a date. Of course, you can talk about anything with your friends, but when chatting with a girl, you need to be careful.

It should be remembered that the purpose of the date is to awaken the companion’s interest in the conversation and, ultimately, to you. Here is a list of topics you should avoid on the first date.

10) Health problems
Your health problems won’t interest a woman. Don’t think that you’ll win her heart by saying that you, for example, have chronic heartburn. This can only work with innocuous, problems, like an arm or leg fracture.

9) Technical terminology
Women can’t stand incomprehensible words. If you use a lot of abstruse terms, she’ll think that you’re too busy with your work; otherwise, you’re trying to make a fool of her.

cool Ex-girlfriends: Never mention your ex-girlfriends in conversation on the first date. It’s important for many reasons, for instance, because you can accidentally reveal your disadvantages. Don’t even start telling how you cheated on your ex or how annoying she was because she called you several times a day. On the first date, it’s necessary to build a basis for further relationships. A woman should think that you have cut all emotional ties with the past and move forward.

7) Sports
Here is the axiom of the modern world: most women hate sports as much as men love it. Although it’s pretty understandable that you want to share your passion for football or hockey with her, perhaps she won’t show as much enthusiasm. And your knowledge of the results of all recent games will not make her think you smart.

6) Bad stories about traveling
It should be a really exciting story; otherwise, it will be boring. The stories about how you missed the bus or how you got into the turbulence during the flight are not considered exciting. There is a high probability that after your story, she’ll start telling hers, and the evening will be spoiled. Thus, you’ll lose time and the opportunity to start a new relationship.

5) Everyday life
There’s nothing interesting in most of what you did today, at least for a woman you are not familiar with yet. To make fun of everyday things, you need to know each other well. Also, too much discussion of TV programs, movies, etc., should also be avoided.

4) People she does not know
You can ruin a date if you start talking about people your new companion doesn’t know. If it’s someone you like, a friend or someone closer, she’ll either start judging you according to her opinion of the person you are telling her about, or she’ll start comparing herself to that person. If it’s someone you don’t like, there’s a chance that you’ll come across as a fierce and nervous person. In other words, your bad side will become visible.

3) Cars Any five-year-old child will tell you: boys play with cars, girls play with dolls. Stories about the engines and the original designs of cars, which men find exciting, are annoying for women.

2) Too much love for pets: Sure, puppies are a good topic for conversation, but only for neighbors walking their dogs. A woman doesn’t need to know what a lovely puppy your dog was. Owning a cute pet will not make you attractive. People who love their pets may just hide the fact that communicating with people is difficult to them. And you don’t want the girl to suspect anything like that, right?

1) Sex
Talking about the best positions in sex on the first date is like talking about your favorite cocktail at a job interview. Don’t rush things, or a girl may think that you are not serious, unsure of yourself, or even that you are a pervert. Don’t try to take the initiative and start a “mature” talk about sex, because she is unlikely to take it seriously.

RomanceThings To Expect When You Date A Broke Guy ( A Must Read) by youngdav(op): 8:37pm On Jun 26, 2017
While ladies would always say they can’t date broke guys, there are those that don’t mind doing so.

That he does not have a job at the moment or that he’s down on his luck does not disqualify him from finding love; and if you find yourself falling for a guy like this, here are 5 things you need to know

1. Be certain

You cannot go into this kind of relationship based on half-baked convictions. Hell no.

You need to be pretty sure that this is what you want, and that you are prepared for whatever comes out of it.

People – friends and family – will question your decision to do this and if your stand isn’t solid enough, you might waver.

You also need to be reasonably sure of the kind of guy you’re about to date.

Frankly, while it is admirable that your doesn’t care about his financial status at the moment, you still need to be sure of his drive and desire to not be broke for too long.

What’s his attitude towards getting his finances right?

It’d be catastrophic to say you love someone who is broke now and sits on his behind without plan and effort to break free from his present situation.

2. There’ll be inconveniences

There’ll be that, and there’ll also be sacrifices.

You know those things that your former boyfriend used to do because he could afford it? Sorry, this new guy won’t be able to.

You know those great, cute gifts your friends get from their boyfriends and post on Instagram? Sorry ma’am, you might not be able to post them for a while.

And hey, you might also have to share some of your salary with him while he’s still waiting to find his feet. It comes with the territory.

3. The sex is [always] on point

Ok. It’s not like there is empirical evidence or some stat to back up this assertion, but word on the streets support it.

It is believed that broke guys somehow have mad sex skills and often try to make up for their financial weakness with sexual prowess.

4. It could end in disaster

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the fact that you stood by a guy when he has nothing is not assurance that your love will be forever.

It’s cruel and sad, but that’s how it is.

You could run all the supportive girlfriend scheme, you could be loyal and faithful and prayerful and you could even hand him your ATM card and he’ll still do you dirty when he hits it big.

See, some guys don’t even wait to hammer before they start to misbehave. You’ll be funding him, and he’ll be using your own money to cheat on you.

This is the kind of stuff that happens, guys.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t happen to you.
