Petyr1:
most of my birds of experiencing CRD, please will i grind the garlic, ginger, turmeric and pepper together and later add water? Or i should grind everything together with water in a blender? Please how will i do the mixture?

Also how much is Tylosin and pantadox?

Waiting for your reply ASAP
Since you already have an outbreak in your farm as you said, I advice you go to a very store and get pantadox, I dont know the exact price now but it's more than 2,000

So our third batch (Agrited Ross 308) has been completely sold out, and we were very impressed with the performance of the Ross 308 breed over that of the marshals, so we went again.
Now we have new batch (4th batch) same Agrited Ross 308 and we have since commenced brooding!

They're different for various illnesses
Bitter leaf extracts,
Red Amaranth extract,
Scent leaf extract,
Fermented Christmas melon extract,
Paw paw leaf extract
Many of them, i use according to when the need for them arises

Thank you very much for this.
My birds are breathing through their mouth instead of their nose. Please what is the cause of this and how can I handle this organically and synthetically.
About 9 of them or so are experiencing it.
If it only happens at noon, it's the temperature, there's too much heat in the coop.
But when they breath, do they make any sound like they're sneezing or screaming?

If no, then it's the coop, there's not enough ventilation and it's too hot for them.

IF yes, you have to treat CRD:
Garlic, ginger, turmeric, cayenne pepper extracts 30ml in 1litre of water (organic)
Tylosin or pantadox (synthetic)

AgricultureRe: My Poultry Farming Experience! by Youngext(op): 9:46pm On Aug 06, 2020
Good evening pals,
Please this is to clarify the issue of the marshals being prone to CRD,
Livability of broiler Breeds is largely dependent on climatic and environmental factors around the location of the pen.
Those in South East Nigeria (Anambra specifically) experience high degree of rainfall and therefore experience Hugh level of humidity in the atmosphere and this is one major factor the enables the growth and development of various diseases including coccidiosis, coryza and CRD.
While you might be able to completely cambat the rest to a stand still, CRD is an infection affecting the intestine and if the humidity in the pen is not controlled, the CRD is bound to show up sooner or later, as some breeds are very prone to such conditions. Chikun broilers from olams for example is very prone to CRD and no matter what you do, you would still loose a substantial amount of birds.

Mind you, the marshals will thrive and you won't notice the CRD issues untill between 3 - 5 weeks and then, boom! You start fighting the mighty CRD.
Marshals are really prolific birds, they grow tall and have big bones but as long as they remain susceptible to CRD, and the rain season is still on, I cannot go for them!. (that's just an advice from experience though).

I strongly recommend CHI or AGRITED birds for now, maybe until the rains goes away.

I'm afraid, you haven't sir.
I will ask again, you said the cost of raising a bird through artificial method is #930, I will like to know the cost of raising a bird through organic method?

cc: EMMAACHILE'
About 900 naira,
But because of the high price of feed and Broiler DOC, it's budgeted at 1,000 per chick from day old to get to 2kg (6 weeks plus)

Hi, been following your tread from start, honestly you inspired me to stock OBJ Marshall, I mean this guys blew my mind... at 2weeks and 5days they are weighing 1.1kg... and no issues so far... mortality is about 0.6%... with all bio-security in place.. I think you exposed your birds to CRD by not providing proper ventilation for them at the right time... have over a thousand of them and they are doing good...when next I’m stocking I think I will stoc OBJ Marshall again.
Okay good luck

Thanks for this wonderful thread of yours, it is truly inspiring.
I have been hearing of this organic method for some time but I have been skeptical
Please, I will like to know the cost of raising a bird with organic method compares with synthetic.
Once again, thanks for this grate thread and more power to your elbow
No much difference, just that you'd only be spending on buying the DOC and feeding them, nothing more.
No spending on medications and vaccines, and it will make their meat taste better.

leo1234:
But your experience with OBJ marshal was good.
What were your encounter with the OBJ marshal breed?
It wasn't all good bro,
Do you know what it means to combat CRD for six weeks?
With it going off and coming back at will?

Well, if you have the money to keep getting drugs, you can go for it, other wise, look for other good birds.
AgricultureRe: My Poultry Farming Experience! by Youngext(op): 9:09am On Aug 02, 2020
leo1234:
How are your birds doing?
They're doing very well at 5 weeks and 5days
Without any vaccine or synthetic medications.
Weighting an average of 2.2kg
Organic is way to go!

Lovely teaching. Thank you youngext for this quality thread.
Please why did you abandon Obj Marshall male line for agrited 308? Would love to know why as i intend stocking by September and would want a very good breed.Thanks as i await your reply
My brother, if you value your investment and if you know you want peace of mind, I advice you stay away from obj marshals and chikun birds for now, you might not have the stomach to bear the brunt of what the chicks might do to you.

We were able to salvage what we could, because we were armed and ready for what ever challenge brought to us, but for a first timer or an amateur in the game, I will advice against it.

IF you want to stock, go for Chi Abor Acre plus birds, or Agrited Ross308 for your desired peace of mind.

I must really commend the OP for his valued response and sincerity. Your response are invaluable.
Please I would really appreciate it if you can put me through thoroughly, as I am about to start mine in few weeks time. I am inexperienced for now when it comes to poultry farming.
I want to go into rearing of broilers, I would need reply on the following:
1. What will I use as disinfectant in the farm, and how will I apply them.
2. I would be keeping the birds from August to Xmas as I plan selling it off then, is there any risk as regards that?
I mean health wise on the birds, as well as the market.
3. Based on the fact I am targeting Xmas, should I hold on for now, because of the feed cost of the birds? Although I was told people love matured birds by Xmas for consumption. Please how do I manage that?
Although I plan starting with 20 birds for now for pivot study, I plan buying 2 weeks old broilers to avoid mortality.
Thank you very much. I am open to learning from other experienced farmers as well.
Regards.
You can use polidine, hypo or izal to disinfect your farm

There is no risk in keeping them for as long as you wish, how ever you should know that the longer you keep them, the more thy eat into your proposed profit, it won't do much to their health by keeping them longer as far as you treat every illness as they arise

You can keep your birds as long as you want provided you have the cash, but if you are after profit, no matter that season, dont keep your birds more than 9 weeks because even 6 weeks is enough for your birds to mature. It's only you who is raising them that knows their true age.

That you buy 2weeks birds (already brooded) is not a guarantee that you won't encounter mortalities, the survivability of your birds is totally dependent on the level of care provided by you.

Boss, Pls is there any reason for switching from hybrid to Ultima feed obviously after week 4 or so.. Pls I'm been specific about the brand. And you continued with starter instead of finisher after week4!
kindly explain ur reasons Pls!
Jst eager to learn.
And kindly provide the prices of the feed brands in ur area. thanks in advance!
Here Chikun=3950
Ultima = 4300
metrovet =3600
Top feed =4000
presently using metrovet mash but thinking of changing soon.
I kept using starter because I found the protein content attractive, but I've bought finifher to use in my newest stock (Agrited birds)
I gave ultima to check the difference, ND it outclassed the hybrid feed totally both in acceptance by birds and weight gain for them

Price of feeds varied by location
Chikun=4000
Ultima = 4300
metrovet =??
Top feed =3800

Well done bro. I'm really impressed with your teaching skills. You most be a very good consultant. Please, do you have samples of 96 capacity battery cage system with automatic water supply? I base in Niger state and I might need like 4 of it if your prize and quality is moderate. Thanks bro.
I don't sell battery cages bro, there are some people here who does.
