Although I'm not a driver yet, but I plan to join soon to use it as a means to an end (bigger view plans), But I have to say this, after due confirmation and study, CheerfulGiver is a living legend! Man's a blessing to mankind and an eye opener as far as this hustle is concerned.
And his tutorials with practical on the go tips will ensure you meet what ever target you have on this hustle and in record time too! Same strategy and planning could be implemented in other work areas and spheres of life and you'd still arrive at wonderful results.
Don't ask me why I'm saying this, But the eye sees what the heart wants! |

nickvanilla: Nigerians have this mentality that once you are an Uber driver, it is either;
1) You didn't graduate from school or, 2) You graduated but never got a lucrative job 3) You had no other option but to borrow, rent a car and drive like a miser around Lagos.
I won't lie, before I started driving on bolt I used to think like that. In fact, if the car wasn't flashy I would never imagine that the rider owned the car.
I don't even want to go into some details but you see some of these riders, don't be surprised if they do not have up to one-tenth of the money in your account balance. Some people just like to dey overdo themselves.
This morning I was talking to a colleague and he said one day when the Uber driver he took was trying to confirm his transfer, he saw over two million naira in his account balance and he was like, "na me wey no get up to 300k for account dey balance for owner's side?". He was shocked.
I know people who own businesses, landed properties in Lagos and drive Uber. Many of them are here. Some people just do it to kill boredom. Some dey use am gather money for other plans. I don too talk sef. Make people continue to dey mumu themselves. Barrister lawyer! |

unity004: good evening sir, please help me with herbs to combat a poultry disease outbreak in my small broiler's farm. 10 of them are not eating at all and are always sleepy, their faeces are watering and greenish. I was suspecting Newcastle disease, please help a brother, am currently broke and can't afford to buy medications. Hmm, since there is already and outbreak, and you don't know about herbs, your best bet is to treat it synthetically, go to any vet and get the needed drugs, Act fast before you loose your flock |

1b8m: I spent about N85000 in raising 51 birds. N25500 on a carton of agrited doc, N45000 on 10bags of fees, N15000 on drugs, charcoal and miscellaneous. I started selling at the 5th week for N2500/bird.
Note that the cost of breeding must have risen as a carton of doc is now about 35k. They bought your males and females same price? |

Danbukason: Thank you very much for this, your advice were impactful. Please I am about starting up with new set of birds. I noticed I spent too much on production using synthetic method. I would like you to please give me the organic plan from day old to maturity stage because I believe it is cheaper. I would like to know the different plant extracts to use and what diseases can they be used to cure, and how to administer it. Thank you boss, God bless you. Only God will reward for your kind gestures towards young farmers like me. Well, there are quite a handful of Herbs to be used as far as organic poultry is concerned. 1b8m: sorry for the delay, I just saw your post now. Ross 308 is a breed of broilers sold by agrited. Feeding was adlibitum (day and night ). I used chikun super starter and I never let their feeding tray go dry. I vaccinated with lasota on 7th day, gumboro on the 14th, second lasota today. In between, I place them on antibiotics (doxygen) and multivitamin on daily basis. One time I had respiratory disease outbreak, I administered centre cipro. I change their litter every week and wash their water feeder everyday I used Izal to disinfect the pen 3 days before the birds arrived Weldone bro |

BlueBanana: Thank you. I have really learnt alot from this thread of yours. Can you give an estimate of what the current costs are now That would be a hard nut to crack, as nothing is static at this moment, All we do is take records of every expenses we make and from there derive our selling price (which of course includes our expected gains). |
Agriculture › Re: My Poultry Farming Experience! by Youngext(op): 9:48am On Sep 07, 2020 |
BlueBanana: I'm just seeing this. Thanks for the reply. Pls don't be annoyed, I have one more question, is the "1000 per chick" the cost of rearing a chick only or does it include the cost of Day Old As in, is it: Day Old + Rearing Cost = N1000 Or Rearing Cost only = N1000
And how much does a Day Old in your locale sold?. Thanks in anticipation. Yes it included everything both DOC at the time of making that post, But as you well know now, the reality of things have changed as poultry farming now is for those who have deep pockets |

emperor03: This is my best thread ever on broilers production here on nairaland.
I just rounded up sales. I had one thousand chikun broilers early July. everything was fine till the 7th day, started loosing an average of 20birds a day. fought it with several drugs and litter management. in the end I lost about 300birds. I was able to recoup my capital and also pay workers. I am taking a break from chikun DOC for now.
The cost of DOC and feed is really threatening my reinvestment.
I have learnt my lessons but not giving up on broiler farming. Wow, I'm sorry for your experience, chikun birds are bad for now, Bro please don't relent, they sky is your strating point, re invest and buy better breed (I strongly advice Agrited or fidan broilers) don't worry, you'd be happy you bought them. Thank you for making this thread your favorite |
