Escodeb:There's charcoal at the side, we just didn't put it in the middle, because of the rubber carpet flooring to avoid it melting and probably causing fire which might in turn lead to a disaster. We used the carpet flooring ontop of the woodshavings we earlier laid on the floor so as to make for easy monitoring of their faeces and cleaning as we couldn't get old newspapers around the vicinity of our farm for now. |
And we entered brooding immediately, Gave them glucose in water first, Then later mixed glucose + vitamins + antibiotics in their water to help them recover from the transit and handling stress, And made sure their feeding trays were buoyant enough with feed. You need to see how active and happy they are today!

Okay so yesterday we took delivery of our birds
|
FarmTech:Okay yes, I know the area The beautiful thing about awkuzu land is that their farm lands are very arable and fertile for cultivation of any type. Good luck sir |
ikelords:Which part of igbariam is your farm located? Because if you're on the university road, before getting to the achool itself, that's around the otoko (okpala ikenga) area, you'd see a machinery setup where you might get any machine of your choice, but if you don't see what you Want, you can go further up just right before you get to the school gate, there's an agricultural setup there I think by the ministry of Agric, talk to them, they'd be able to avail you one, Further more, if you couldn't get from them, you cab enter the school gate and walk straightway inside the school from the gate, directly behind Fidelity Bank, you'd see the works unit of the school, there a various machines owned by the school for agro purposes that you can hire for a fee. I hope one of these options helps |
FarmTech:Which part of awkuzu did you find the land? The part I know that water crosses is around otoko area (okpala ikenga) around the state university area, I know this because I schooled there. |
nikaShow:For the building, ¶400.Blocks was bought ¶Dimension of the building: Length 33Ft, Width 16ft, it was further divided into: 25Ft for the main stay and 8Ft for the brooding room ¶Cement: 20 bags ¶Zinc: 100 roofing sheets ¶Wood: 11 3x4, 30 2x4, 50 2x2 (proline), 2 bundles of batting ¶Sand: One trip of Sand ¶Nails: 2 packets of Cap nails, 4 packets of cap nail gasket, 10 pounds weight of copper nails, 4 pounds weight of 1&half inch nails, 3 inch nails 10 pounds weight ¶Nets: One and half roll bundle of big hole wire mesh, One roll bundle of boko haram net (the very strong type) I won't add prices of the materials and that of workmanship of both the carpenters and masonry, because prices differs largely from area to area (its largely area dependent). This is the brooding house and the wood shavings have been fully spread out on the floor ready and waiting for the chicks arrival.
|
This is the process of packing the wood shavings and the feeds, We got 26 bags of feeds fully in our possession, We bought hybrid feeds 20 bags, they didn't have enough and was completed with ultima 6 bags.
|
Been quite a while here, I used to hear people say that construction of a facility is not the hardest thing, the hardest is to furnish it, Well we have been very busy washing, sanitizing, and air drying the entire chicken coop ahead of the coming of the chicks. Today we went to get wood shavings and feeds, So we have contacted @turks of PREEMAH AGRO and finalized business for chicks to be delivered within the week. |
Chiggsglover:I didn't think you'd respond to the questions, but here you are with the figures, your type is rare, that's why God's blessings on your life won't end! Keep up the good work sir, we all hope to be like you some day (in a country, with sane working economy). |
SaintHilary:I swear, chiggsglover is one of a kind WhyNa lost it when she started referring people to Google for answers she could have just typed in seconds, mind you, most of them had searched the net and couldn't find the resource they asked, or do you think of they did find the answers, they would still be asking? Truth is, they're still some un answered questions that she has refused to answer but talked about passing through situations like that, What is better than hearing from the mouth of the messenger? But then, what do I know? It's a free world |

So house, we have grate news today We have officially completed the construction of the chicken coop today, and will be uploading the pictures bits by bits as we don't know how to highlight the pictures individually in a single post |
Liodins:Okay sir, I'll Give a breakdown later |
potosky:Amen, and you too sir! |
This is the level of work now, The smaller portion already floored, is the proposed breeding area of the coop, while the larger part is going to be the main stay for the chicks for the rest of the breeding cycle, construction is still on going as the carpenters would be coming to finish up the wood works tomorrow so as to allow free space for the flooring and plastering guys to do their job efficiently from the day after tomorrow
|
Muhammad2017:Thank you sir, I am glad we are able to inspire |
. |
potosky:Yes sir, it is We pray for a favorable market experience when the time comes |
uche393:Okay sir, but we have passed the phase of doing increase in heights now as flooring commenced today, I just hope and pray that the height is efficient enough. Thanks for the heads up sir. |
potosky:We did the height to be 3 coaches (3 bricks) high to keep natural and environmental hazards (like snakes) in check, reason being that this project is sited in one of the villages inside anambra state, and we wouldn't want to loose any chick to any hazard that should have been controlled. |
The sun is very hot today, but work is still ongoing. Here's how today started
|
potosky:Yes can be very cold during cold season, and can be lightly flooded during raining season, hence the solid brick structures to control the hazards |
How it ended
|
Sorry for the late posting, We went to the market today to get other materials needed to complete the building, that's why we couldn't post on time. Today we were partly absent from the site but work still went on, the workers didn't work at the normal speed with which they've been working today, so much wasn't done today but they promised to do more tomorrow. So, here's what the site looks like from today! How the day started
|
Victornezzar:Thanks boss |
And we are closing the day like this, The bricklayers have laid more than 100blocks (we even lost count of the exact amount buried already) NB. We bought 400 bricks to start with
