Abdulrasheed Akanbi, oluwo of Iwo, has explained why he engaged in a brawl with another monarch during a peace meeting.

There were reports that Akanbi attacked Dhikrulahi Akinropo, agbowu of Ogbagba, over a disagreement during a meeting convened by the assistant inspector-general of Police (AIG), Zone 11, to resolve a prolonged land dispute among the monarchs in the Osun west senatorial district.

Akinropo was taken to the hospital due to injuries sustained in the attack.

In a statement after the incident, Akanbi defended his action, accusing Akinropo of attempting to stick his staff of office into his eyes.

“At the peace meeting held at AIG office, Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa interrupted me while I was making my speech; he started calling me unprintable names, pointing his staff of office at me while attempting to stick the staff in my eyes; I heavily rejected it with a force which the Agbowu could not withstand,” he said.

“How could a constable openly insult commissioner of police and make an attempt to beat the CP? Can any monarch try such with Ooni, Alaafin?

“He went far as attempting to turn Oluwo to a blind man by pointing his staff of office to my eyes. All affected monarchs in my kingdom should note no one will feed on his subjects land and go away with it.”

But some traditional rulers in the state have blamed Akanbi for the action, demanding his suspension.

Speaking with reporters at the hospital, Habeeb Adetoyese, olu of Ileogbo, flanked by six other monarchs, said the oluwo descended on their colleague while making a presentation at the meeting.

“In October last year he wrote a petition against us to AIG Oyebade, that, we are threatening his life and we are selling his land. The AIG said he doesn’t want any issue in our regions, that we should solve it amicably. The governor also gave us the same advice when we saw him on the matter,” Adetoyese said.

“The first peacemaking meeting that was organised for us at Iwo local government secretariat, but Oluwo disrupted the meeting. He came with thugs saying everybody should go to his domain.

“A letter was sent to us for the invite and we all went for the program…when he (Oluwo) was talking, he alleged that, I, the monarch of Ile-Ogbo, was selling his lands and that, also, the Agbowo of Ogbaa Gbaa, the Onigege of Gege is also selling his land. I am selling only selling Ile Ogbo’s land and not Iwo land.

“In the meeting held, the commissioner said he can’t intervene on any issue pertaining to land. He advised that the court can decide on that or that we meet the governor to sort things out.

“As the AIG was addressing us, the Oluwo started shouting that chaos and war will happen in the community. He stood up and started beating Agbowu. He beat him to the extent that it was the AIG that rescued the king from oluwo. We are still in shock for a king to behave in that manner. When the man started feeling dizzy, we had to rush him down to Asubiaro hospital. He sustained an injury on his cheeks.

“We implore the government to suspend him (Oluwo) so that we can have peace in our domain. We have called our subjects that there is no cause for violence but he should be checked. Only the governor can caution him and if that is not done, he will destroy the entire region.”

Amotekun will stay as a regional outfit. All this ones are mere talk. Only 2 SouthWest governors were present out of 6. That means the others don’t go with this development. They already passed the bill to each state house and IGP has no power over the bills passed at the state level. Trust me, he is just ranting. And this is the work of Tinubu and his ass-licking Sanwoolu. Akeredolu was only there because he needed APC to win his election this year. He will definitely turn back soon as he got what he wanted. Let’s wait and see.

The Senate is already pass a Bill on Community Policing just bcus of this issue of Amotekun.. And that's the best the federal govt can offer anything outside it.. That state is on its own.. It will be criminalize

Some Yoruba fools thought igbos support the security outfit from the on set not knowing igbos are looking for a way to mock it.

What type of education do you guys get up there in the west. Police is federal, even after you called it Nigeria police it still doesn't ring a ball to your senses.. What they did is to establish a division in all states and command and control is in Abuja.. Their salaries and pensions from Abuja.. Go and back to school.

A 58 - year- old native doctor , Oluwole Olapade , and a cemetery attendant , Adesina Adeniyi, were on Tuesday paraded for having in their possession two human skulls and liver.
Parading the suspects before journalists at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo , the state Commissioner of Police , Johnson Kokumo, said the suspects had successfully harvested a human skull , which they used for money ritual.
The police boss said because the first attempt failed to yield money , one of the suspects went to another burial ground and exhumed two human skulls and cut off some body parts , which they intended to use for another money ritual.
Kokumo said luck , however ran out on Adeniyi, who was contracted for the job , when policemen on stop- and -search duty intercepted a commercial bus conveying him on the Iwo/ Ibadan Road and discovered decomposing human skulls and liver in his possession .
Forty - two - year- old Adeniyi of the Kajola area of Iwo, said he was an attendant at the Muslim Cemetery and admitted to stealing human parts from burial grounds , which he intended to sell to Olapade for N20 , 000 .
The CP said Olapade was arrested in the Yemetu area of Ibadan , Oyo State .
Responding to questions , Olapade admitted to contracting Adeniyi to look for human skulls for him .
“ At the first attempt , the head I got didn ’ t bring money. So , I contracted Adeniyi to get another head for me , which he did . Unfortunately , he was caught by the police , ” he stated.
Parading other suspects arrested by the personnel of the command , Kokumo said five men were apprehended for claiming to be military personnel and running an illegal training camp .
According to him , one of the suspects , Akinsiku Sunkanmi, who claimed to be a Nigerian Merchant Navy personnel and dressed in military uniform , was apprehended by two personnel of the Naval Base , Ofa , at the Old Garage area of Osogbo , who later handed him over to the police.
Also paraded with Akinsiku were Aniedu Essiet, Ijeoma Nwabueze , Raheem Quadric and Gabriel Jacob, from whom exhibits like camouflage head tie, a pair of military uniform, a digger and nine cutlasses, were recovered.
The suspects told journalists that they were taken to a camp in Ifon , Osun State for training by a man , who is currently at large.
They claimed to have paid the said man between N100 , 000 and N200 , 000 for registration and training as Blue Merchant Navy operatives.
Also paraded were two robbery suspects , who were arrested at a robbery scene in Osu after a shootout with the police .
The suspects , Chinedu Francis and Emmanuel Okafor, reportedly surrendered themselves to the police after a hot chase .
Kokumo added that all the suspects would be arraigned before a court very soon.

I managed to read half of thing long history , I would have completed it but I know the story, maybe not in the given order but its all familiar

I was looking forward to seeing the write-up talk about how Ibos partnered with hausas in a political party but not sure its included

My point here is Ibos did more harm than good to Nigeria but they still like to claim being victims

Nigeria would probably be competing with dubai / Singapore / Malaysia right now if the first coup didn't happen

Worst of all Ibos raise their kids with lies and those ones swallow hook line and sinker + even add their own imagination to the lies

Before anything else ibo nation needs to learn to be humble and apologize to Nigerians esp the north, that's the first step towards ibo ever smelling anything close to power at the centre

Some many kids and weed smokers on Nairaland people with little knowledge of history.. During the first republic of Tafewa Beluwa Nigeria only has 3 regions what is know as South South and South East today, was know then as south eastern, so it really dont mean is igbo, since Nigeria only had just 3 regions then
