The Federal Government has directed Vice Chancellors of the striking public universities and inter-varsity centers, to enforce no-work-no-pay rule on striking lecturers.

This is following the setbacks that have trailed attempts, to end the ongoing strike by lecturers across all Federal Government owned universities in the country.

This directive was said to have been communicated to the universities in a memo sent by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) through the University Vice Chancellors.

The Memo, signed by the Director, Research, Information and Technology, NUC, Dr S.B Ramon-Yusuf, stated that payment of salaries from any other sources will be viewed as violation of extant rules and Government directive.

It reads in parts, “In view of the current Industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the federal government has directed that there shall be no payment of any form of salaries and allowances to the staff on strike in federal and inter-varsity centers

Former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has revealed how he was advised against accepting defeat in the 2015 presidential election.

He also declared that the election was marred with some irregularities, including the difficulty he faced before he could vote in his native Otuoke, Bayelsa State home.

The ex-president said he conceded defeat principally because it was his belief that his ambition should not lead to loss of lives and property as it was the case in previous elections.

Two men who claimed to be police arrested for smuggling about 50 bags of weeds

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested two

fake policemen, who were conveying 50 bags of weeds, suspected to be cannabis

sativa and weighing about 685 kilogrammes, along Okpella-Okene road.

The fake policemen operated with a black Toyota Hiace bus, marked Ondo AKR 392 LZ

and labelled with stickers of the emblem of the Nigeria Police.

Speaking to newsmen while parading the suspects, Edo State Commander,

Mr. Buba Wakawa who identified the fake policemen as one Matthew Onumba

and Ojukwu Henry, described them as members of a drug syndicate specialised in

Air Task Force jet destroys headquarters of Boko Haram in Sabon Tumbun, Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole has destroyed the Tactical Headquarters of former Boko Haram Terrorist at Sabon Tumbun, Borno.

The Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, announced this in a statement to NAN on Friday in Abuja.

Daramola said the operation was carried out on Thursday.

Judge Orders Abaribe Pay N100m Over Refusal To Produce Nnamdi Kanu

On an account of the refusal to produce the missing the leader of the

Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu in court, senator Abaribe

The Abuja Federal High Court has ordered Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe and three

The ruling as gathered by newsmen, was delivered on Wednesday by Justice

Binta Nyako while amending the conditions of the bail she had in April 2017 granted Kanu.

AKS governor states that it is only God that can stop his re-run

Mr Udom Emmanuel, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, has announced that it is only God that can stop him from 2019 re-run.

The governor spoke with Akwa Ibom State indigenes at a town hall meeting in Abuja and the 19 northern states, used the occasion to showcase his achievements since assumed the position of as a governor.

He said he needed to reaffirm that power belongs to God, following what some people said that the state would witness war during the 2019 elections.

He insisted there was no need to unleash war in the state before, during and after the elections, as some people were insinuating, since leadership and power belong to “God and He gives it to who He desires.”

He said his visit to indigenes of the state in the 19 northern states was the first time a sitting governor would hold such an interactive session with the people in Abuja.

“I am showing my love through selfless service to the people,” he said. He said he has already told God to use him to develop the state in all ramifications and added there is no place people would go in the state without seeing signs of development by his government.
