Ofunaofu:If you are not too young, you should know that the tickets of the 2 major parties that contested the 1999 presidential elections were micro zoned to the South West to appease the Yorubas after the military powers that be from the North annulled Abiola's election and also murdered him. So it was only natural that 2 Yoruba men slugged it out. So it is not the same case as a Makinde accepting to be a spoiler in an election he knows he doesn't even stand a chance. I do not think he is that slow. |
omenka:I have been on Nairaland long enough to be very familiar with that moniker who has built a a funny reputation of always making a fool of himself with the most inaccurate of beer parlour political postulations. Little shame would make him go into hibernation for a long time after every major election only to resurface when another election cycle is getting closer to start the madness all over again. Many are mad on Nairaland but few are really roaming in real life. |
ufotunang:Don't be surprised if Barcelona or any other European high profile football club was smart enough to introduce the concept of global fans' club annual membership due for the sake of recognising them as a verified fan which is renewable every year, it might shock you to the marrow that some of these guys would go as far as to steal or borrow in their penury just to be coughing out the money in order to earn the bragging right as a "verified" fan. Never underestimate the power of stupidity on a mass scale. |
Odidigboigbo:Tinubu as an emeritus career politician himself understands the psychology of career politicians. Someone who understands the political terrain deeply might be more difficult to control or manage.. He only wants a yesman already programmed by virtue of his academic background in the art of following instructions to the letter and not an astute politician who might be working covertly for the North. I am not a fan of Tinubu but even his political enemies know him as one of the most calculative politicians alive. He doesn't take a step without a deeply calculated political motive that would benefit him in the long run. This is one of the reasons he usually goes out of his way to ensure he never picks an El-Rufai, Wike, Saraki or Aregbesola personality whenever it is time to pick the next Lagos governor since he left office in 2007. If he had made such an unforgivable political error in judgement, he would have lost control of Lagos a long time ago. It is not a coincidence that he is the only 1999 governor still controlling his "kingdom" since the return to the present civil rule 26 years ago. So picking this relatively unknown and inexperienced politician is all part of a well-planned political chess move by Tinubu. The only thing is, if Tinubu was more interested in developing Nigeria the way he is in the art of politicking, Nigeria would have been one of the best places on earth. |
AdolfHitlerxXx:To be fair to Obi, he cuts across like a supporting actor kind of person.. Compare him to a ruthless kind of person like Wike who loves to always be in charge 24/7... I wonder how a soft person like Obi would succeed in a crazy place like Nigeria filled with so many sharks and predators eagerly waiting to tear down your government into shreds.. |
OluwaBlessyn:I guess a lot of you gen-zs started following politics in the last election. For your information, Atiku is not eligible to be vice-president for a 3rd term after being one between 1999-2007 even if he wanted to which does not even make sense in anyway. Obi has not even joined politics when Atiku first contested for SDP presidential primaries in 1993. You guys are not even begging him to step down for Obi in order to assume a godfather status in ADC but to even suggest a whole Waziri who is head and shoulders above Obi politically deputising him is the height of tomfoolery. You guys could as well suggest Obasanjo or Goodluck Jonathan to deputise Obi then. What an incredible level of disrespect! |
Godfullsam:You must be new on Nairaland.. That moniker is one of those fake profiles created by all those jobless small boys with the aim of trolling the ethnic group of the language created with it... Do not be fooled by everything you see on Nairaland.. A lot of boys have so much time on their hands that they control so many fake profiles and keep switching from one fake profile to the other for the sake of trolling the ethnic groups they have been raised and poisoned from childhood to hate with a passion or to simply promote their real ethnic group using the name of the ethnic group they hate. It is all cheap reverse psychology. |
ThunderfireNLMO:I am not a fan of Tinubu, Atiku or Obi because I see all of them as varying shades of the same coin.. Aside that, I don't believe any politician alive can make any positive difference in changing the fortunes of Nigeria as it is presently constituted. However, for the sake of pragmatic politics, you have just stated the truth 100%.. The only ticket with a chance to chase that machiavellian Tinubu out of Aso Rock at the moment is Atiku/Obi.. Atiku is more sellable in the South more than the way Obi is sellable in the North.. The prayer of Tinubu's camp is for Obi to refuse to deputise Atiku after predictably losing the ADC primaries to Atiku. They really need Obi so bad to contest the general election as an independent candidate so as to divide Atiku's votes like the last time. The thought of them contesting as a team is really giving them sleepless nights and they will stop at nothing to keep sowing discord between both camps. As it stands at the moment, the Obidients are making the job of Tinubu's team easier by not seeing the bigger picture. |
Nigerian media personality, Destiny Ezeyim, known as Radiogad, has knocked former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, after he was seen sharing food at an event. Naija News reports that the video from the event held at Umuchima, Imo State, showed Obi carrying trays and serving dishes to attendees. He was also seen smiling and interacting warmly with people at the gathering. However, Radiogad did not take the gesture lightly. In a viral outburst online on Friday, he described Obi’s actions as eye service and desperation for political power. According to him, the former Anambra governor behaved like a common waiter, trying too hard to impress Nigerians by appearing humble. Radiogad said Nigerians prefer strong, firm leaders, not Obi’s soft approach. “Peter Obi, at this point, your eye service is too much. Your desperation for power is too much. I pour you spit for face.Na mumu man you be. You are not representing Anambra men well. “A whole you, you carry tray, dey share food for event. Peter Obi, I am completely disappointed in you. Na eye service you dey do. Why are you so desperate for power to the point of sharing food at an event? Why, Peter Obi, why? Some gullible Nigerians will come for me now. Is it not obvious that Peter Obi is clout chasing? Is it not obvious that Peter Obi is trying so hard to impress Nigerians? “A whole Peter Obi, the former governor of my state, Anambra State, you are sharing food. You are sharing food like a common waiter. Just to prove to Nigerians that you are humble. Forgetting that the Nigerians you are trying to impress, they prefer wicked men wey get swag. “President Tinubu might not be the best president of Nigeria, but the man gets swag. And that’s the kind of person Nigerians prefer. Nigerians prefer wicked people. Nigerians prefer people wey dey mean. “Peter Obi, from the look of things, you are not even fit to become the president. You dey too soft like woman. You too dey shake. You don’t even get heart. You no get liver. Why you go dey share food? You don pass that level now”, he said in the video. Source: Naija News Cc: nlfpmod

AntiChristian:Imagine LP, PDP and ADC fielding 3 different presidential candidates in 2027..Coalition means the merging of different forces into one.. It is the way APC emerged in 2014..It was how organised APC was that made them a formidable force and not all this political comedy happening in ADC. Before APC was formed, Tinubu and his team had already handpicked Buhari as the weapon needed to wrestle power from Jonathan as at that time.. The primary election was a mere formality.. If those things were not agreed upon before coming together, the party would have imploded if Tinubu had left Buhari to the mercy of a political hawk like Atiku in the party's primary election.. That's the hallmark of a serious contender for power and not all these comedians who are not even confident enough to resign from their main political parties let alone merging them together to become a real formidable force. |
AdolfHitlerxXx:I know Ogundamisi very well... He is a Tinubu's boy trying to use reverse psychology on Obi’s followers.. Their real fear is Obi deputising Atiku... That kind of ticket will drag the South with APC because of Obi’s influence while Atiku has a chance of clearing the North because the North is already angry with Tinubu because of their reduced influence in many sectors of Nigeria where they used to hold sway as owners of Nigeria.. But if Obi is given the ticket, most of the Northerners would rather stick with BAT and wait out the remaining 4 years instead of voting for Obi due to their intense distrust for an average Igbo man who they think would further alienate them from power. The Northern bloc in the ADC only needs him on the VP slot because of his fan base in the South and not deem him good enough for the main ticket .. Watch out for more BAT boys who have been given the mission to keep pushing the narrative that it is only Obi on the ticket that can defeat APC in the coming days.. They are aware of the mindset of the core North about an average Igbo man which they are trying to use to their advantage.. It is all reverse psychology. |
yemmit90:I think it is probably number 2. Trust snakes like El-Rufai and co to dangle unrealistic juicy baits before him so as to secure his teeming supporters in the bag while working for Atiku's emergence. If not, he won't have been talking about serving for just 4 years. Every politically savvy Nigerian knows that the APC was formed as a special purpose vehicle in 2014 to bring Buhari into power same way all the inner caucuses of ADC are already aware that it is the special purpose vehicle to give Atiku another shot. |
NgeneUkwenu:They actually have 2 camps: [1]The anybody but Tinubu camp. This camp is ready to vote anyone just to kick Tinubu out. [2]The camp that won't vote anyone if Obi deputizes Atiku. This Obi or nothing camp indirectly prefers Tinubu continues once Atiku snatches the ticket. The truth is, the Obidients' camp are not as united as the last time. To see their true colour, wait until Atiku uses dollars to snatch the ADC ticket away from Obi. Talking about a house divided against itself. |
Wickedfact:I love people who can think.. Atiku and his team have not yet forgiven Obi for taking away PDP's bloc votes from their strong fortes in the last election. The aim of the coalition is to ensure he does not see any platform to contest this time around let alone dividing Atiku's votes again like he did in 2023... By the time he loses the primaries, he would be forced to settle for the VP slot since shame won't allow him to run to another party again to contest since LP is no longer an option. Until he builds his own political party like the likes of Buhari and Tinubu who founded CPC and ACN respectively, he will continue to negotiate from a place of political weakness and getting frustrated by baby politicians like Abure and Apapa no matter the ready-made party he always chooses to run to like a political fugitive. |
Datti is re-echoing my sentiments on a previous post concerning the coalition. I will repost here for more eyeballs. The main issue here is, who is ready to replay the Tinubu template by burying their personal ambition for the greater benefit of the coalition when push comes to shove? Everyone who is conversant with Nigerian politics knows that Obi would never get the presidential ticket of the ADC even if Atiku was never in the party. It is always a game of matching dollars for dollars while the highest bidder snatches the ticket. Unless he has a corrupt bullion van money bag who can stand for him the same way Tinubu stood for Buhari against Atiku in the 2014 APC primary elections, rich but tight-fisted politicians like Obi will always come last in any dollarized primary elections.. However, I believe Atiku is not a fool. He needs Obi for the VP slot more than Obi needs him. It would be suicidal on his part to pick any other Southern politician after snatching the presidential ticket. The only question is, will Obi be ready to play a second fiddle to Atiku without feeling used or decamp to another party to split ADC's vote after expectedly losing the ticket to Atiku? |

IgOga:This is the best political analysis I have seen so far on this coalition unnecessary noise and excitement. A very intelligent one at that! As a neutral observer who is neither a fan of APC, PDP or LP, if Tinubu had not buried his political ambition in favour of Buhari even before ACN and CPC merged, APC would never have succeeded in the national election because he would have outspent both Buhari and Atiku in the primary elections.. The anger resulting from such an action would have made the CPC faction break away from APC even before the main elections which would have resulted in PDP's gain. It is the definition of stooping to conquer. Like you rightly said, anyone who is not a baby politician knows that Atiku will get ADC's ticket at the end of the day.. There is nothing like a level playing ground whenever it comes to playing the dollars game as long as Atiku is concerned. The big question is, if Obi loses the primary election to Atiku as expected, is he ready to settle for the VP slot or he will decamp to another party to split ADC's vote like he did to the PDP the last time? The answer to this question would determine if the coalition has a bit of a chance to challenge that ruthless and dangerous politician called Tinubu. If Obi is not ready to defer his ambition like Tinubu did for Buhari in 2014 because Atiku not getting the ticket is not even an option, they should simply change the C in the ADC from coalition to comedy. |
cenaman:I didn't know our South East folks bear Oyinkansola Aderibigbe too.. That's nice to know brother. |
Zetty177x:It is apparent from the way he added meaningless alphabets to meet up the 40 character limit. I am beginning to notice a trend since the 40 character minimum limit was introduced.. Most of the Nairaland folks who struggle to compose 40 characters at once are always dropping the dumbest comments.. It beats me how would someone always strive to comment just for the sake of commenting and not because they have something meaningful to contribute.. |
naptu2:Alagba naptu2, your response to bitter trolls and haters dey always give me joy 😁 |
Gerrard59:My point is, religion does not automatically make someone a good person irrespective of zealousness. If not, Africa would have been the best place in the world. An average religious person has the tendency of cherry picking the easier aspects of those religious commandments which are usually expressed in public to give the impression of someone godly to his fellow adherents. They have the penchant for ignoring the most difficult rules which involve a lot of willpower to implement when they feel no one is watching while believing “God” would always forgive their shortcomings. This is not to say we do not have religious folks who are equally morally upright irrespective of who is watching but my point is, it is not an automatic phenomenon. It has more to do with how active one's conscience is than a mere religious belief borne out of following the bandwagon. I hope this explains the supposed contradiction of that statement. |
dominique:A big yes.. One can be extremely religious without being morally upright.. Religion involves following a set of rites and codes rigidly....Boko haram members are some of the most religious people in the world who never skip their daily religious rites and practices.. But they won't hesitate to collect arms and money from their political sponsors to help further their cause of mayhem and destruction in the society. Same goes for a pastor who prays all the time but who won't hesitate to defraud his church member when it comes to a business partnership. Religion has absolutely nothing to do with morality or being principled even though it preaches it.. You are the one mixing up the two because I have seen non-religious folks who are more principled, morally upright and compassionate than most religious fanatics. |
Okoroawusa:Even though I am not his fan because I see him as not having the required balls to effectively reset a crazy and dysfunctional multifaceted country like Nigeria. But the truth is, when a man has evolved to that highly coveted level of employing numerous men and materials to continue to make money for him on a daily basis without having to work anymore, he can afford to be putting his mouth in every issue like a jobless housewife.. So cut him some slack.. It is an insult to be placing wealthy employers of labour across different industries like Obi and a "job" in the same sentence. Men like that do not exchange their time for money anymore. That is the definition of financial freedom. |
Breaker001:If she had not made a video, how would all her perceived haters see her lambasting them directly and indirectly ? I am beginning to think she was the husband in the marriage due to her insatiable desire for attention and power. These type of women walk, sleep, and eat trouble for a living. I really pity her sons' wives.. She go show them shege pro max.. |
metch1:It won't have been in his best interest to keep mute after the Sowunmi guy rubbished his claim without any form of proof.. For someone like Reno who has made a lot of enemies online especially the headless Obidients mob, he would have been subjected to a lot of endless ridicule and humiliation from them. But by going public with this incontrovertible evidence, he is sending a loud message and a subtle threat to anyone who might be bold enough to challenge any of his claim in public in the future. It is a classic mafian move to send cold fear into the heart of his numerous enemies to always think twice before attempting to subject him to mass ridicule like the Sowunmi dude. Hate him or love him, Reno is a very intelligent dude. |
oyeb15:From my knowledge of astrology, if your great grandfather had relocated to Europe, it is either one of his descendants who would serve as your vehicle to this world would have relocated to the "shithole" or you would helplessly have picked another family in the "shithole" to have brought you to this world. This is simply because your star alignment picking that exact place to be born at that particular hour is not a coincidence. It is one of those extremely few things we humans do not have any iota of control over. |
dederocs:You have said it all brother.. How is any married person without any sense of purpose or valuable contribution to the society apart from procreating and adding to the population of the world different from lower animals? It is the last paragraph for me! I am still waiting to see the list of great personalities from time immemorial in any part of the world who were never forgotten just because they got married. What a very silly mentality! |
Rebelutionary:Well said brother.. It is apparent that a lot of folks on this Nairaland are not too bright upstairs.. Imagine saying someone that feather weight politicians like Abure derive pleasure in disrespecting at will would automatically and suddenly command the respect of political sharks and snakes like Wike and Saraki in PDP because he simply enjoys a large fan base amongst the large section of the youths from the South East.. Isn't that the equivalence of pitting a wizkid or Davido against a Mayweather on the boxing ring because they command a large fan base of gen-z kids? It is a known secret that the only politician Wike listens to at the moment is Tinubu and that is simply because he is currently in custody of the knife for sharing the national yam. |
Richcreed:The dude wasn't lying... It is the reason why we do not have black Arabs today the same way we have black Americans and Europeans in droves despite having equal numbers if not more African slaves during the slave trade era. The ones who weren't outrightly murdered were turned into eunuch(castrated males) immediately they stepped their foot in the land of the Arabs so their bloodline won't be passed down. The Europeans who settled in Argentina also did this to their African slaves unlike the ones in other South American countries like Brazil who embraced and integrated them into their society after the slave trade was abolished. Reason why you can hardly find a black Argentine today unlike in other South American countries. This is a well documented history. Always learn to read and ask questions.. |
