Music/Radio / Beat Tape Review: Ill The Cartoonist - Food (fi Thought) by yungblurd(m): 9:04am On Jan 02, 2014
Steeze’s growth as an artist-producer in the recent years has been remarkable, working out impressive records in collaboration with a host of other upcoming acts. This exposure can be particularly linked to the relative success of his Loop Of Henle beat tape, which he released in the first quarters of 2013. Since then, he has lent his bars and produced several songs for artists like DJ Bibini, Yung Pali, Redkad, Deelokz, Rafmaniak, Mic Priest and a host of other acts. Sequel to ‘Loop Of Henle’ is ‘Food’.

His mastery of boom bap and ear for the right samples became his greatest strength on ‘Food’. Although, traces of his sampling ability was heard on ‘Headquarters’ with Redkad, where he jacked a part of Sauce Kid’s ‘E don dey madt’ into a ravaging cut, accompanied by subtle piano riffs.

The most noticeable difference on ‘Food’ largely banks on the chronological arrangement of the samples, which denotes a broader content and extensive test of his ability on the boards; which he didn’t fail at.
On one of the numerous occasions where his prowess was summoned was on ‘A Lil Jazz’.
He competently basks on the cut, looping complex horns and snare drums on battering rattles. One which marvels most on the tape was the multi-syllable-influenced instrumental ‘Rhyme Schemes’, which will get the average listener bopping and miming as it progresses. This was coincidentally preceded by the James Blunt sampled ‘No Alibi’ unarguably one of the best moments on the tape.

However, cuts which would make listeners bop their heads are found on all corners of the tape, but he came in subtle on ‘To Hans [Chi Begins]’ and ‘To Ramin [Open your ‘Wise]’. On the former, he deftly matches up Shaolin percussion which is bridged by a momentary silence before transforming into an upbeat boom Bap.

‘I spread words like butter on toast’ – [Hidden]

As much as he tries to blend the past with the present without compromising his art, the down side of the tape remains in the cuts he decided to be too much RZA-esque. These cuts include ‘Rise of the Igigi, To Ramin, and Word [To my Man], although, the gems in these cuts will be easily identified by hip hop heads not for being too 80s, but for its core which is now considered as being antiquated. The efforts he deployed on ‘Food’ should be enough to put him on the map of go-to producers like XYZ, Deck Zavier, amongst others who have made boom bap their signatures. Even without DJ Babu-like scratches, he still kept things real to the extent that one couldn’t have anything else to say than;” Food is ready, and get ready to be served”.

Literature / Re: The Trouble Of EFE by yungblurd(m): 7:42am On Jul 31, 2013
‘Who be that?’ she asked, Efe replied; ‘Na me o’, on hearing this, she immediately threw her wrapper on a standing couch, knowing fully well that it might be a God-sent opportunity to save her from the current quandary about to paralyse her mind; “At least God no dey forget im own pikin”, she ordered him to come in.

. . . Although Efe is nineteen, but he had never seen a firm twin before, t ‘less of a naked girl except for Iya Salimo’ slippers-like glands which she always expose gladly at the backyard whenever PHCN decides to switch into fits of epilepsy; her choice spot where she usually sit to enjoy the cool breeze and the fumes coming from Baba Landlord’s generator.

Meanwhile, she had struck a familiarity of carnal since she was eleven so it was anything but new to her and she would gladly teach the innocent young man the irresistible styles she had learnt.

Though, he is a year older than her so doing it with her won’t be considered rape, those were his thoughts as the luscious boobs stare glaringly at him like the beams of a lit halogen lamp. The thought of him not having a clear cut opportunity another time continues to flash across his lobes like consistent streams of raging liquid on the surface of a sweltering solar panel.

Those were the hardest moments of his life, he couldn’t even manage to think straight; those two things have him tied down in the silence of his predator, the ball was in her court, she holds the remote to his mind, and his eyes serve as the sensor while the voluptuous nipples radiate the signal. Even his balls were growing sore as a result of the spur-of-the-moment upsurge in the size of his penis. Soon they started kissing; they are on the highway to the journey of life . . . it happened very fast; no real pre-intimacy and all that pre-sex things, but the relative satisfaction both of them derived was far from average. It was straight pounding and digging for about four minutes before the climax.

. . . Even if, he enjoyed it, he never knew it would lead to this, she had missed it this time; someone had heard sounds of retching in the bathroom.  It was his first time and now he is going to be a father in less than 7 months.

“So naso I tey turn papa now”, how he is going to tell his parents about this unthinkable development remains a dilemma yet to solved. The ban on Postinor II was not helping matters at all, the reality that he doesn’t know how to administer it also made his heart skip over and over again. Also the fact that he could have easily avoided the temptation on that morning or even prevents it by using condom even hurt him further.

He knew a bit of Coitus Interruptus, but it never occurred to him to use it. Soon his parents will know, likewise Perpetual’, will he be forced to walk through the aisle? No! His parents cannot foot the bill neither can they afford a bride price of even a thousand naira; will he be left to bear the consequences alone? Who knows? He has obviously just made life harder for his parent

Kindly click the link below to read and comment on my blog post>>>> http://20bmn./2013/07/3The request had caught him by surprise when he was confronted by his neighbour's daughter some moments back. Most times it is either a smash or grab as it is basically unplanned for. Catering for those pressing needs of gestation period means extra hustle for him.

However, campaigns advocating the use of contraceptives and condoms have been rolled several times on TV, radio, billboard and newspaper campaigns were not left out.

Once on a Juma't lecture, the presiding Imam had encouraged members of the congregation to use condom whenever they feel pressed, in a sarcastic sort of tone, he threw a humorous rhetoric; “Shebi #50 ni wan ta?”

All these campaigns are channelled as a strategy to control the ever-rising population and as an encouragement for family planning. The target audience for it consist mainly of married adults and pre-empt to youths that would not want to hold back when the dick arises; unwanted pregnancy though not desirable, but it is common in juvenile relationships.

What is mostly feared is now about to happen to this saintly man. Efe had told couple of his buddies of the sensual activities of Ojukwu and Perpetual in the bathroom which he had kept secret following a promise he made to the two about not blowing their cover.

He narrated how he was stripped off his saintly belief when he visited her in their quarters at a time when her parents were not around. They both live in the same compound, Efe’ room which is shared by eight others including his parents is the fifth in the compound; which is more of an alcove than a conventional room and was flanked by Perpetual’.

On a certain Wednesday all the children in the compound had gone to school and the adults to work, only both of them were around.

He was about to boil a kettle filled with water, when he discovered that his matches had been soaked the previous day after the heavy rain that fell had managed to sneak into his room through the leaky ceilings. Instead of buying another box, he thought of borrowing from her neighbour, Perpetual.

Apparently, it would have been the best idea if not for her horniness. Even if he was completely oblivious of her intention, it is normal for neighbours to seek help from one another.

Meanwhile, she has been bearing in mind several options available to her; particularly, the do-it-yourself method of inserting a stub of candle into her orifice.
“That one no go work jare”, she thought.

Asking the ever-ready Brother Kamor, a gruffly built fellow in his early twenties who resides in the next compound would have been a better option, but throwing caution to the air wasn’t anything she would like at all, especially as neighbours are now growing suspicious of the sudden accord between both of them. Her thoughts where abruptly interrupted by the knock on the door. 1/the-trouble-of-efe
