Maybe you should have titled this "which state is the poorest or least developed" There is no such thing as a worst state !!! |
the days of nomadic cattle grazing are just over and the best any state government could do for these people is give them a plot of land to build a permanent village on. Even without desertification this lifestyle would be ending as more and more arable land is used for agriculture or becomes urbanized. This is not the middle ages anymore and these people will have to adapt and the sooner the better for their children. There isnt a single developed nation on Earth with large numbers of nomadic animal herders, that lifestyle just doesnt have a place in the modern world, sorry for them but oh well |
No i dont have a problem with it at and I applaud him for it, BRAVO OBAMA! The white house has already said they chose Ghana because of its strong and vibrant democracy that can be a model for many other countries on the continent. What is wrong with applauding a black African country for its success Nigeria unfortunately is not a model in any area of politics really except government corruption. And besides he isnt going to South Africa or Egypt either two countries that have more reason to claim to be Africa's GIANT than Naija and they arent making a big deal of it, even Kenya, Obama's paternal homeland, isnt making a big issue of him going to Ghana. GET OVER IT !!! |
quote: depilot Well, one thing is certain, Yaradua is not a thief, unlike many before him. He still remains one of a kind; as we, Nigerians are not used to a leader that doesn't steal.for certain, how do you know that for certain. There isnt enough transperency in Nigerian governments to say that about any politician. He may very well be a much of a theif as most of the other leaders of the country in the past have been, |
Yesterday I was in Delta State for the first time in my life. Very organised, neat, just like in Lagos, the cabs were brand new Toyota Corollas, there were Gargantuan TV screens for entertainment is some round abouts, and just like HiTech was working on the Lekki-Epe Expressway is how Setraco was working on the Sapele-Ughelli Express way.Its so silly when people use the US or another rich western country as an example of a failed state, and why because you saw some TV screens in roundabouts. We all know the US is far far wealthier and more stable than Nigeria - thats why America remains a major destination for well-educated Nigerians and other immigrants. Stop making excuses, Nigeria is a failed state and mostly because of the idiots who govern her and have governed her for almost 50 years. Its not just because of Niger Delta. The north is one of the few places with polio in the world and its a real poorhouse. Even in the richer south government services are almost nonexistent, child mortality is high and tens of millions of people live in poor housing and dont have proper jobs. Nigeria can do much better but you have to admit things can be better before anything can ever change. I certainly dont think what Nigeria is today is the best or even close to the best it can be, |
quote: georgecso This spirit of homosexuality is spreading like a wild fire, May God deliver our dear pplYes and the spirit of hetereosexuality is even worse, because as we all know millions of young girls and women are trafficed every year to be abused by straight men, far more than boys raped by gays, i guess we should all join the fight against the evil of heterosexuality before its too late My point is far far more woman are raped or little girls abused by straight men than boys or men by gay men so maybe its the "spirit" of all male human beings you should be condemning but i suppose that would include yourself , |
Quote: Litmus America should be on that list. At the last count, it was the most indebted country in the world. If the magnitude of American indebtedness does not qualify it for failed state status then that list is meaningless. Grin Grin GrinA lot of the worlds biggest economies are in debt on paper (US, Japan, UK) but all of these countries have the resources to finance any debts and provide their citizens with good services and infrastructure. The total assets of these countries governments' are enough to pay off their debts many times over so they are not by any means bakrupt. Nigeria on the other hand is a failed state because of the idiots who are in charge and a population that feels powerless to change the system. |
Quote: Ezeagu Why can't the regions split peacefully? One word, Oil If there was no oil in the south and east then Nigeria would probably have split long ago even after the Biafra War. The Yoruba and Hausa are just as proud as the Igbo and know they have the population and territory to exist as independent nations but its the oil revenue from the south that keep the other regions from seeing how logical division would be, But as there is oil in the south then there will never be a peaceful split, only another war or this forced marriage will continue into the far future! |
Quote: Ezeagu - today It's an ethnic group . . . . .Hmmm interesting but the link doesnt mention any connection between them and the Biafra Bight name. I think the similarity is just a coincedence. It seems unlikely Europeans would have named a bay in far east of West Africa after a very very small tribe (even today only 40,000) that lives more than 2,000 miles away in far west of West Africa from the mentioned bay. Sounds like a coincedence to me and the terms are prob unrelated. |
Quote: from dnex - yesterday I'd like to know the meaning of this word it self or some kind of translation. Millions of people seem to be very passionate about Biafra, so I guess if we can be made to understand It's meaning, we will understand the zeal, the passion and the hope that Biafra carries with it.I don't any connection between the origin of a georgraphic name and the meaning of a state or nation to its people. The question about the origin of the word Biafra is interesting but mostly irrelevant. I did a quick search online and couldnt really find anything about the origin of the word so i would say it probably doesnt have one (anymore). It may have been a European corruption of some random African word , who knows. But keep in mind that the original meaning of the names of most European nations have been lost over time as well, nobody knows what Italy meant originally or what the origin of Hispania that became Spain is or where the word Scot originated, etc, etc, etc. , My point is it is not odd for the origin of geographical names to be lost. |
Quote from: LamidiObi on Today at 02:54:14 AM dream on. no southerner will rule nigeria again. if you want war we give you another one. we are born to rule you. live with it.More like born to eat dirt and die in poverty as the slave of some emir or whatever. Who cares about the presidency. People of the south are much better off than the paupers in the north. Only northern politicians benefit from them having the presidency, while their people up north survive on meals of sorghum and dirt and are the last people in the world crippled about Polio. |
