Under Mr Buhari, ASUU went on strike for 8 months. The man did not bat an eyelid and refused to pay their salary during the 8 months. Nobody begged ASUU before they returned to work and even after going back to work, Mr Buhari still refused to pay them.

The current President generously paid 4 months out of the 8 months despite the fact that under the 'no work, no pay' rule applied by Mr Buhari, they were not entitled to the 8 months salary.

The current government has also settled the minimum wage with NLC.

Yet, every little thing, the NLC threatens to shut the country down.

Could they try this under Mr Buhari. Absolutely not.

The fact of the matter is, we got here because we had the wrong idea about fuel ....we thought we could make it cheap to 'help the poor'

It's helped the poor....at the expense of our domestic refining capacity.

Like I say, if you want working refineries and an end to scarcity, let the refineries and the marketers sell fuel at a profit....so that there would be enough money to plow back into the refining capacity.

Abusing me and calling me names does not change that fact. We have tried subsidy for over 4 decades. It's not working.

And fixing the refineries is not going to solve the problem. The best the refineries can do is produce fuel at a cost above N1000 per liter. Subsides would force them to operate at a loss.

But most of us think that cheap fuel costs nothing.

When there was subsidy, fuel sold for 250naira in 2023.
One year after, there’s still subsidy, even though it sells for 950naira.
There’s no other excuse here.
It’s just bad policies from an incompetent government.

The correct word is 'compassionate' not 'chicken hearted'.
A president does not need to be a hard man to remove fuel subsidy at this difficult time, he just needs to be less compassionate.
Buhari is a stone-hearted military man but a more compassionate person. That's why he couldn't remove subsidy. You can say the same thing for Jonathan and even OBJ.
Lack of compassion is what a president needs to move forward with it, undermining its effect on the citizens.
