Trophies and performance in these competitions are what is used to rank a team. Trophies opens doors for more revenue streams for the teams.

Trophies matters..

Winning trophies is great, but as a fan, PSR should matter as much as it does to the owners. Ask Aston Villa.
It is better to compete in the CL than win the EL.
Trophies matter, but what keeps a club running is PSR.
Aston Villa are upset that the referee against Man U cost them over £100m. Do you know what that means?
They still prefer to be in the CL just to compete, than be in the EL as potential winners. That’s the difference.
The fans enjoy trophies, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of having a good PSR.
Man United has won 2 trophies in the last 3 years, but their second managers job, in that period is hanging by a thread. Yet Arteta with zero trophy keeps his job.
In conclusion, as you are trying to win trophies (which is great), make sure you are consistently competing at the highest level (The Premier League and The Champions League). That’s where you maintain a good PSR that will ultimately grow your club.
