Christianity EtcJonathan Has Assaulted The Sensibilities Of Muslims By Visiting Jerusalem-gumi by ZackiGp(op): 8:50pm On Oct 27, 2013
Respected Kaduna based Islamic cleric, Sheikh
Ahmad Abubakar Gumi has said that
President Jonathan's pilgrimage to Israel has
assaulted the sensibilities of Muslims and in
his opinion shows that President Jonathan is
not a good Christian.
Read his views below
JONATHAN IN ISRAEL
I am not a keen political commentator
probably because my brain also filters
information through the prism of religion, but
I definitely now believe that Mr. Jonathan is
neither a politician nor does he mean well for
other Nigerians.
His ‘tourism’ to Israel is a big political blunder,
I said tourism because its never in the annals
of true Christianity to partake pilgrimage as
it’s a cardinal tenets of Islam to go on such
pilgrimage to three most Ancient mosques in
the World. In a hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari
and Muslim from Abu Huraira, the prophet –
peace be upon him was quoted as saying:
“No religious journey is allowed except to
three mosques”. They are the Makkah
mosque, the Medina mosque and the
Jerusalem mosque.
Nigeria along with many other African and
world countries has sided with the plight of
the Palestinians that were forced out of their
homeland, killed and scattered. There are still
Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan
and all over the world. They are prevented
from entering their mother land just because
it was confiscated by the Western powers
with Israel used as a ‘front’. It’s a share case
of colonization with expulsion of the rightful
occupants. For this reason no Nigerian
president in the past, Muslim or Christian has
visited Israel in order not to honor such
injustice.
Today Nigeria riddled with insurmountable
political, economic and social problems, our
least priority is a state visit to a controversial
state where human suffering is the norm of
the day. What do we stand to gain from
Israel? For one, the Jews -I am saying this
without any prejudice- are traditionally
known to be misers while we African are
seldom not beggars. Charity is not in there
lexicon. Jesus – alaihis Salam- has condemned
them in the most explicable terms no other
human has done. ‘Ye serpents, ye generation
of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation
of hell?’M't:23:33 .
In the Quran, Jews were also cursed with
misery and lowliness; they can only parasite
on other nations to survive and on Allah’s
mercy on occasions. Allah said: “ Shame is
pitched over them (Like a tent) wherever they
are found, except when under a covenant (of
protection) from Allah and from men; they
draw on themselves wrath from Allah, and
pitched over them is (the tent of) destitution.
This because they rejected the Signs of Allah,
and slew the prophets in defiance of right;
this because they rebelled and transgressed
beyond bounds”. Q3/112
Notherless the Quran in fairness said “Not all
of them are alike: Of the People of the Book
are a portion that stand (For the right): They
rehearse the Signs of Allah all night long, and
they prostrate themselves in adoration. “
Q3/113.
What concern us now, is that Jonathan has
succumbed to the pressure to support the
Jews at the detriment of the oppressed
Palestinians and the teaming millions of
Nigerians living under the most appalling
conditions, our children out of schools, and
the ostentatious life style of his ministers,
cronies and oil thieves.
If Jonathan wants religious peace in Nigeria,
his visit to a religiously controversial state is a
mistake. The message is that he is insensitive
to Muslim’s sensibility. There is share
recklessness in such an adventure. Truly Islam
has enjoined Muslims to interact, mutually
benefit with the Jews in business and
marriage. Muslims are allowed to eat their
food, therefore it should be understood that
the Muslim’s apathy towards them is because
of Zionism and the plight of their fellow
Muslims. The Jewish experience is Spain
under the Muslim rule is well documented.
They prefer Muslim’s treatment to the
Christians. Even in recent history what the
German Nazi did to the Jews cannot be
effaced.
My advice to Israel is that they should not
interfere with Nigerian problems, treat Mr.
Jonathan as a simple tourist. As I also beseech
them to facilitate Muslims going on
pilgrimage to Jerusalem as instructed by the
prophet of Mercy.
May Allah protect us from all evil! Amin

These guys are jokers. They are the pple on strike and they are stil the ones protesting.hahaha
look at how our so called academicians are abusing the use of that gown.
Seriously speaking, ASUU has kept students at home for 4months now, yet they seek the suppport of these students, its quite laughable. The questiom is, why didn't they organise this rally and get students and parents to support them b4 embarking on strike?
Now my my assessment of these pictures- it is nothing but a show of shame!
Nairaland GeneralMan’s Body Hanging For Eight Years A In Flat by ZackiGp(op): 10:02pm On Oct 23, 2013
PARIS (AFP) – The new owner of an
apartment near Paris made a shocking
discovery last week when he took
possession: the mummified body of the
previous owner which had been hanging
for eight years.
The body was found in the apartment in the
Paris suburb of Bussy-Saint-Georges on
Friday, after the flat was sold at auction
following its repossession by the bank,
police and judicial sources said.
The previous owner, a former security
guard of Cambodian origin, appears to have
committed suicide by hanging himself with
a sheet.
The man, aged around 40 when he died,
had not been heard from since 2005 when
he filed a labour complaint against his firing.
He had cut ties with his family years before
and neighbours believed he had returned to
Cambodia.
His apartment was eventually sold after he
failed to make mortgage payments and to
cover building charges.
A police source said the new owner
discovered the body when he arrived to
inspect the apartment and entered with the
aid of a locksmith.
“The body was in perfect condition, as was
the apartment,” the source said.
Investigators were unable to explain why
the body had not decomposed.
Neighbours said they had no inkling of what
lay inside the flat.
“I thought it was an abandoned apartment,”
said Camille, who lives in one of the four-
storey building’s 20-odd apartments.
“Bussy is a commuter suburb, people don’t
see each other much,” she said.

SportsAmos Adamu Free Again, As FIFA Ban Ends. by ZackiGp(op): 2:55pm On Oct 21, 2013
The three-year ban on former Nigeria CAF
and FIFA Executive Committee member, Dr.
Amos Adamu, slammed on him by the
Federation of International Football
Association (FIFA) has expired, thus making
the Nigerian high profile sports
administrator free again to participate in
football activities within and outside Nigeria.
The FIFA ban on Adamu, a retired Director
General of the National Sports Commission,
expired at 12mid night on October 19.
Adamu
But contrary to expectations, Dr. Adamu has
declared that he is not in hurry to return to
football administration in CAF, FIFA and
WAFU.
“My interest is not to rush back to the
international federations, but I am delighted
that my ban has expired and I am free to
contribute to the development of football
and sports generally in Nigeria, Africa and
the world at large.”
The former WAFU president noted that, he
learned lots of lessons during his period of
incarceration, and on return now, he would
be delving into sports business and not
sports administration as it was the case
before his ban.
“My focus is different now and those
expecting me to rush back to football
administration would be disappointed. I
want to do serious business in sports. I am
now a different person. This is the new
Amos Adamu.
“I went through some transformations
which had been worthwhile. I am now a
different person wiser than before.”
Adamu expressed delight in the supports
given to him during the period of his travails
by the leadership of the Nigeria Football
Federation (NFF), the Sports Ministry and the
National Sports Commission (NSC) under the
leadership of Professor Taoreed Adedoja
who stood firmly to defend him.
“I am also grateful to the leadership of the
National Assembly who made frantic efforts
to ensure that I was not unjustly
incarcerated after presenting them with
documented evidences both in print and
video.”
The former Director of Sports Development
stressed that, his consolation despite the
three-year ban was the FIFA action which
cleared him of all corruption charges and
limited his offence to that of ethics violation.
Adamu was banned in 2010 after the FIFA
World Cup in South Africa following a
petition sent to the world football governing
body by the UK Bid Committee for the FIFA
World Cup.

Seriously, prof, no matter wht u write here can nt and will not change the impression of Nigerians(esp student) abt ASUU. This body has brought so much pain and disappointment to almost everybody dat has passed thru nigerian university, this is wher we are again.

Well, you asked *me* a question, not ASUU, and I told what *I* am doing, not what ASUU is doing. ASUU, as an umbrella body I fall under, gave government a notice of total bla-bla. Between you and me, I consider that just part of the normal rhetoric of trade disputes. Most lecturers in my university come to the office at least once a day. I can't tell you what *they* do, but thank God you only asked what *I* do, and that is just what I told you. If you want to know, I am actually still seeing my research students (at least those that want to be seen).
prof, will i be right to say then dat u are nt on strike or better still u r not in support of ASUU strike?

Thanks, anyone man enough to openly apologize deserves respect (mind you, that doesn't mean we still won't disagree from here to Kontagora o).
As you observed, I have been typing almost non-stop since yesterday. It is extremely tedious going, but I think it is worth it.

To you question: yes, I will accept the salary. Why? Because the job of an academic consists of (1) teaching (2) research (3) community service. I hope you consider my Nairaland outreach community service smiley . More importantly however, I have been extremely busy with my research. You wouldn't believe it from the amount of chatter I have been involved in online, but I have a grant application deadline on the 15th. So, I will accept the salary as remuneration for work done.

However, if the government takes the stance that while I am on strike, they will seize the salary, I wouldn't particularly mind. Consider that my act of self-flagellation, so that I too feel some hardship as I am making students pass through same. In case you're wondering, I mean every word I just said.
prof, if i can remember vividly, the strike dat was declared on june 30, 2013 is TOTAL, COMPREHENSIVE AND INDEFINITE. why the research and the community service dat i'm hearing for first time?

The prof has thrown down the gauntlet. I have always been a staunch believer in the gospel of this ASUU strike, so I fall in the "as mentioned" category, however, I think you left out some of the important benefits of the strike to the students.

1. What is the benefit of attending school when "graduates" would still need years of moulding to be able to function in the least? half-baked, somebody? Effectively, what is worth doing at-all, is worth done best.

2. In furtherance to the above, not only the students will get reap the fruit of better education, the society will work better too. I'm not a member of ASUU, at least not for now, but I convinced we share the same view on this point.

etc etc...
The problems u raised are not due to lack of infrastructure but due to the fact dat these lecturers are lazy, greedy and not committed to their jobs.
