The Nigeria Tax Act 2024 has been signed into law and it's set to take effect from 2026.

The tax act effectively increases the minimum tax rate for everyone and also increases capital gains tax from 10% to 30%.

The packagers of bulaba will make it seem like balablu has done Nigerians a lot of favour by making certain provisions for low income earners but they'll not tell you that the inflation and increase in price of every good and service in Nigeria has rendered those provisions ineffective against protecting anyone.

The first thing they're already planning to do with the increase in revenue from increased taxes and widened tax net is to increase the salaries and allowances of elected politicians - not increase minimum wage, fix electricity, insecurity and food shortage crisis.
The unskilled NLC should wait for the next review by 2027 according to law(cum election campaign promise). They are paying for their myopic view of events.

Just so you know, the new MTEF of this gov't has set borrowing ceiling at ~67% Debt-to-GDP ratio.

Make of this information what you can.

Gurus in the house please i need guidance regarding my insurance policy issue, i know this might not be the right thread however its still boils down to investment.

If it's feasible to pay them a visit, do so.
Report them to NAICOM.
If you're close friends with a lawyer, see if a letter can be sent across.

LASACO. Seems the guy dumping since last week is tired. He should let LASACO fly abi soar to greater heights

If JAGABANomics won't favor LASACO na who again will enjoy this insurance balablue
All we witnessed were minority plays in the insurance sector. We are waiting on the substantial holders.

As for lasaco, almost 50% free float. So much drama in there.

In my naive state, I remember saying "Access was a good investment plan for a 1 yr child back in 2020 or 2021." Today vindicates that.

As for accumulation, as long as there are perceived potential acquisitions, accumulation will persist. It's gonna be good for that child when he's 16 years old. All things being equal.

To my elders, I salute.
I did not build my portfolio by being "careful" over the past 5 years, most notably the last 2 years( it doesn't warrant "carefulness"). Calculated risks were leveraged.

The ELLAH road is without doubt not a straight path. If you're not able to bounce back( in case of any eventuality) of which the worst case is a physical attack on biological assest, kindly stay out. You can call it gamble, I call it high risk-high reward.

Know what you buy and why you buy!

Comparing absolute (raw) stock prices is virtually meaningless. Value is better assessed through benchmarks, like price-to-book ratios, or normalized stock performance over time.

On the US exchange, the best bank trades in the circa 200$ region,

The best insurance company is about ~17$
..

I just need the best to attain 0.5$. Even our banks are not there yet..

In my view, if July 2026 is the deadline, they should be discussing fundraising options and kicking off M&A talks ASAP. M&A deals take months to close, and the longer they wait, the pricier it’ll be to buy out rival competitors.

I expect some to begin openly discussing their options this year or early next year.

I'll be keep the bulk of my insurance stocks come what may, I have enough fat to take any temporal dip.
Honestly they should have just wrapped this thing up by december so everyone can have Christmas chicken by November.

But stakeholders need to protect stakeholders smiley and little babies need to pull a hat from a rabbit or vice versa..

So, you would favour a welfarist system that eventually impoverishes the State, like in Venezuela? I wish Hugo Chavez is alive to see the fallout of his welfarism. The current government in Nigeria is doing well with the reforms. The attendant human suffering is sad, but that's the price to pay. I wish, thoguh, that lavishness and corruption in the corridors of power are curtailed. That's my main grouse ATM.
Words of a privileged person, but I don't fault you. There's Argentina for example. But oh well.

The main goal and objectives of a govt. is to improve the welfare, security and wellbeing of the people, especially the majority. Such goal is not to carryout or embark on the so called ''reforms''(sic)
Any kind of ''reforms'' or ''initiatives'' that fail to achieve these goals are virtually meaningless or poorly thought-through or outright useless
We have been witnessing ''reforms'' and ''reforms'' since when IBB introduced SAP (and even before then), what is the benefit?
Sadly, at this point in time, you are not one of us-majority grin. That you have access to information that has led you to quadrupling your portfolio in the past 2 years makes you part of the peope his focus is on- the smart, business savvy individuals. Be it hook or crook grin

For those of you who have "people in the abroad" ask them how much is their mandatory monthly insurance bill.

Bulaba is running a highly capitalist environment for a populace with low education- be it skillwise or academic. That's why putting food-on-the-table is paramount to the average man in all of his reform.
"No be reforms we go chop"-An ill-educated response from a genuine place.

How many insurance package have u or any of ur house hold ever picked. We can start from thr.
why is many of thr quater results released this yr getting worst .Even third party insurance of 15k many Nigerians no get. They had to start using police for it still nothing
Exactly, we know the system doesn't work, but I'm enlightened enough to put my parents under health insurance cover cuz of advancement in age. Me personally I don't have as I rely on my youth and God for strength. These are the inadequacy in the system. With this bill I will be forced to get one not minding my youth. We all know prices of medication now in the market and that will not drop. Quality healthcare is expensive. Now this is one part of insurance.

Its mandatory now. Have you asked what insurance marketers do to sell insurance to just one random person with money? Do you know how many "onye boy" businesses are uninsured? No doubt, the time of metrics will come in at some point.
On what has changed, I want to believe we are poised for growth as a nation now. It's me believing for this generation and can't tell on yours or past experience.

kintus, the Q3 reply is no longer necessary....

Insurance is big business and a money spinner for the banks of developed world. Plus now the law makes it MANDATORY, this "no-objection" is relief for insurance marketers in Nigeria. Our 5% insurance pool of 200m will increase. That's the economics.

"Ote$ vs Uncle Tee case of Transcorp" 😂 is playing out. You wonder why SUNU is not running? You snooze, you loose.
