Imam Muslim reports in his Ṣaḥīh (2454) that the Prophet was asked about his fasting on Mondays and he replied,
“It was the DAY I was born and it was the day on which revelation came to me.”
"The Day I was born" could be viewed from 2 angles...... (i) The day (Monday) he was born with respect to the days of the week and (ii) The day he was born with respect to that which occur once a year (His Birthday).
If the latter was correct he would have fasted just once a year, so what the Messenger of Allah meant by the Day I was born is not in any way related to Birthdays, as it was stated in another narration..........
He صلى الله عليه وسلم said "Good deeds are presented on Mondays and Thursdays and I love that my action is presented whilst I am fasting.” (al-Tirmidhī; 747).
This is another reason for his Monday fasts which isn't Mawlud related and how will he fast with the intention of Eid Mawlud (as some take it) when he has prohibited us to fast on the days of Eid (al-Bukhārī; 1990 and Muslim; 1137).

over 1000000 muslems storm gombe state today to celebrate eid el malud.
from my observation, the sunnis blocked the federal highway for almost 4 hours now and still counting.
these was the same thing the minority Shiites did and people were insulting and accusing them that they are terrorist for blocking federal road. God is watching and will judge us all.
well am enjoying the celebration, its fun as children and adults are dancing on the road singing oyoyo anabi( meaning welcome s.a.w prophet Muhammad)
