How so true. That's my point exactly. So here is my question... why tell her? Atheists need to stop wasting their precious time on this earth and do something else. If you want to show people the light, do it, but posting on nairaland is not one of the methods that bear fruit.

Most likely though such people are already open minded enough and they truly don't need your assistance.

The energy, time and effort you spend is too much compared to the progress you are making. It is an extremely inefficient method.

Yes.... Christians and Muslims (Hindus et al) already know the truth.

So you are truly wasting time here trying to repeat things people already know. And churning out more facts would not change that, even if Curiosity (Robot in Mars) finds extra-interstitial life in Gale crater. Yes, I know it seems absurd but it is the truth.

However, just because they know... does not mean they would not defend their positions to death.

Atheists, need to switch up to another level or at least take on a different approach.

Here are my suggestions
1. Let Christians/Muslims come in terms with the truth. Many people are too proud to admit they have lost. So just give them time to digest reality. It is not easy. Offer support and encouragement.

2. Move on and focus on other important things. Atheists should spend their energies and time doing other more interesting things like: fighting for people's rights, doing good science, advocating for science to be taught in school, fighting for stem cell research etc Ranting and raving in blogs like Nairaland is not exactly constructive, especially considering the audience. It may be exciting but ... well.. but it is very inefficient. Maybe it used to work many years ago and they actually a few converts... but now... forget it.

3. Focus on the strengths of religion and explore meaningful alternatives for people. E.g. Religions good support systems for things. Let's admit it, they do have! And this is one of the reasons many people can't let go. For example, socializing, childcare, marriage, death etc. Most people know that to get Married for example you need a priest and they wrongly associate these two different things.

Well the list is not exhaustive... Nonetheless, trying to shout down ignorance in Nairaland, stopped working a long time ago.

I believe you need time to a serious talk about the future and agree of some issues. You'd rather disagree now and even part ways then wait for the 5th baby to born to do so. However, And you must be willing to relent ( like you did about the wedding _ that's very commendable) Having conflicting beliefs is not unique to the two of you. Every married couple faces this challenge. Marriage is about compromise. You cannot be take a very hard-lined approach.

A. disregarded everything you learnt about evolution. Maybe the content was too complex.
B. did not understand
C. read it understood it and did not agree with it.
D. None of the above - Did not research in the first place

By reading your replies you either did A or D. My suggestion is to be at least at B or C. That way we have a progression in the right direction. It makes sense to refuse something you know and know why you are refusing it.

I only become an Atheist after I read the bible many times over so,

People read verses and decide what they mean depending on how they understood them, that's why people go as far as killing others or beating up, and more commonly suppressing women based on their interpretations.
You read it and you feel it should be used to condemn women- bingo. because it goes along with cultural believes and probably your own insecurities, then bingo, it clicks.
This is something you obviously know, so, well.

Religious are all over our space, trying to invade our science classes with ID crap, they are over the streets killing same sex lovers, blocking stem cell research, advocating for bombing and invading of countries without any basis, are obsessing over patches of land that they claim are sacred and directly coming in the way of development and progress.

Yet when there is progress in science, the religious are the first ones to take credit. When  someone is healed in hospital you say it is God.
We are here to remind you it is the doctor. It is the drug. It is the study of evolution to understand how organisms mutate that's what treats diseases. It is science.
