PoliticsHow My Agric Business Became Billion Naira Venture ― Ex-militant by Zeemam(op): 11:32am On Oct 26, 2019
Retson Tedheke, the ex-militant who became an agriculture entrepreneur has said that the worth of his farm business in Ga’ate, Nasarawa state is more than N1 billion, encouraging more Nigerians to invest in the sector.

Mr Tedheke said he was surprised that many Nigerians find it difficult to believe that his 3,500 hectares farm business could be worth N1 billion after two years. He explained that he began the business through crowdfunding but has gone to source for funds through other mediums.

He said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was being modest when he said his business was worth N1 billion, stressing that, it is actually worth more than that. He explained that Nigeria Farmers Group and Cooperation (NFGCS) was founded to help farmers secure funds and grow their business.

“What VP Osinbajo said was that we are worth N1 billion today and I believe he undervalued our worth. We are currently sitting on 3,500hectares of land, with 500 cows and sheep. This is one of the single largest indigenous warehouse in the North Central with 30,000tons capacity,” he said.

He said as at April, 2018 when audit was carried out, the business had done transactions worth over N1billion. “Our Banks are FCMB, Keystone, Access, Zenith, etc. We are preparing the audit for the AGM in December 2019 and we are sure our financials will be well over N2billion,” he said.

He encouraged Nigerians to visit the farm and confirm if the Vice President was right to say the business is now worth N1billion. “What you have to do is visit the project site and confirm if Vice President Osinbajo was not telling the truth. We are just about one hour drive from Abuja.”

He then went on to explain how they have managed to source for funds. “In 2018, we applied for N1.5billion under the CACs of the Central Bank of Nigeria and it was reduced to N1billion and later N720m.

PoliticsWe Must Build Bridges Across Faith, Ethnicities – Osinbajo by Zeemam(op): 11:01am On Oct 23, 2019
*VP receives US delegation

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says Nigerians must actively engage in building bridges across religions and ethnicities to ensure a better society and nation.

Prof. Osinbajo stated this on Tuesday when he received at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, a delegation from US-based Bridgeway Community Church, led by its founder and senior pastor, Dr. David Anderson; alongside a delegation from the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission led by its Executive Secretary, Engr. Dr. Sule Yakubu Bassi.

In building bridges, the Vice President emphasized on the need to build mutual trust and respect, stating that, “we have to find ways of actively disseminating to our people here, and in Africa in particular, the importance of building bridges across religion and ethnicities.”

While noting that Nigeria is a country with different ethnicities and dominant Muslim and Christian populations, the Vice President added: “It has become clear to us that we must find different ways in building bridges, especially between the faith and ethnicities. And one of the critical things that our faith teaches, is that, regardless of what the situation may be, “we must love even our enemies and pray for them.”

“The future for society, in my view, relies on our ability to build bridges and to ensure that those bridges are firm and we can walk across it and interact with each other,” he said.

In his remarks, Anderson, who noted the need to build bridges between Africans and African-Americans, said he was inspired to build a Diaspora Palace, hotel and resort in Badagry, Lagos, “so that when people come back from the Diaspora, wherever they are, they would no longer just come to the Point of No Return, but they would walk through the Door of Return; and that they would be accepted as royalty.”

Anderson observed that several African-Americans desire to be identified as Africans, and he is working with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Foreign Affairs and Information ministries to realize that through what he called the Door of Return initiative.

Similarly, Bassi, representing the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, noted that the Door of Return initiative, among other objectives, aims “to advance exchange of economic cooperation and direct investment between Nigerian and the Diaspora, particularly in the area of tourism and sustainable development.”

PoliticsGroup Alerts On Pattern Of Rehashed Old Allegations Against Osinbajo by Zeemam(op): 11:04am On Oct 22, 2019
A political group in Nigeria, Initiative to Save Democracy (ISD) has alerted the public on attempts by some elements to rehash old, baseless and unsubstantiated allegations against Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The group said one of such pattern was the allegations by Mr Junaid Mohammed in a recent interview with an online newspaper over the weekend. The group described the allegations as baseless, untrue and laughable, adding that, it is just another attempt to disparage a good, upright and honest man who is committed to the true progress of the country.

The Publicity Secretary of the group, Peter Oladele said in a statement that based on evidence, Prof. Osinbajo is one of the most loved and balanced public office holders who have offered equal opportunities to everyone around him.

“The highest ranking officer in the Office of the Vice President is the deputy Chief of Staff who happens to be Ade Abdulrahman Ipaye, a Muslim. His Senior Special Assistant on Legal Matters is Dr. Bilkisu Saidu while the SSA/Director of Protocol) is Ambassador Abdullahi Gwary from Yobe state.

The group said only a few weeks ago, Senator Ali Ndume told the whole world that the Vice President was passionate about humanitarian crisis in Borno.

“Prof Osinbajo only recently organised the construction of a world class school in Borno state (Maiduguri International School) through the North-East Children’s Trust Learning Centre, Maiduguri and this is before the former governor of the state, Kashim Shettima named a world class school (The Yemi Osinbajo Primary School) after him because of his contribution to the state.

“Then there is little Aisha Ibrahim, a Boko Haram victim whom the Vice President met during a surprise visit to Maiduguri. According to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ibrahim Goni Lawani, Prof. Osinbajo personally covered the costs of the operation including flying in a US- based Skin Surgeon, Prof Ferdinand Ofodile to conduct a corrective surgery.

PoliticsEx-militant Gives Osinbajo A Tour Of Gigantic Nasarawa Farmland by Zeemam(op): 10:53am On Oct 18, 2019
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday paid a visit to the sprawling farmland of ex-militant, Reston Tedheke in Ga'ate community, Kokona LGA of Nasarawa State.

The Vice President who was accompanied by the State governor, Abdullahi Sule described the project as an entirely Nigerian story, adding that, this is how great nations are built.

Mr. Retson who is the chairman of National Farmers Group and Cooperative Society Gaa’te, Nasarawa and an ex-militant, explained to the Vice President the origin of his vision for the over 3,000-member cooperative that supports over 500 farmers and 400 workers.

He said “It was when the Vice President visited us in the creeks and appealed to us to go into farming as it generates yields of up to three to five times of what you invest that we took to the land and we are doing well.

“We did it by being true Nigerians and developed it close to Abuja so anyone can see what we do. I’m originally from Delta state, now I live here and the Governor (of Nasarawa) is my Governor,” Mr Tedheke said in a rather emotional speech.

Mr Tedhke started the farm with N1.5m in 2017 and is now worth about a billion naira. He noted that he was inspired by the Buhari administration's focus on agricultural diversification of the Nigerian economy.

He added that this is a story of national unity and integration, a Delta-born Niger-Deltan from Bayelsa state who relocated to the North Central and got a free land from the local community. He started with three hectares but has since acquired 2700 hectares more. As of today, he has 3000 hectares.

While receiving the Vice President on the farmland, accompanied by the State Governor Abdullahi Sule, he said "this is the happiest day of my life." The farm has between 300 and 500 employees including people from different part of the country.”

The Vice President noted that going round the farm gave him great hope for Nigeria. “We are all very excited and hope this will grow,” he said.

He added that this is what the Nigerian spirit is all about. “An Edo State farm manager, on a farm coordinated by a Niger Delta man from Bayelsa in a Northern community,” he said.

“I am also excited about how this farm is financed through start ups raising the credit. What we are seeing is a revolution. This is the story of great nations,” he mused.

AgricultureMeet Reston Tedheke Ex-Militant, Who Is Ga'ate Farmer In Nasarawa by Zeemam(op): 4:35pm On Oct 17, 2019
STORY OF AN EX-MILITANT: FROM THE CREEKS TO A BILLIONAIRE FARMER

In 2017, when President Muhammadu Buhari sent Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to the Niger Delta to quell the rising tension in the region he didn’t know that he was not only creating the bedrock to a stable economy but he was opening the door to a new frontier.

Weeks after he left the Niger Delta, the tension and occasional assault on oil pipeline almost went extinct. It was as if he had used a magic wand from one of Harry Potters sold-out series. Peace enveloped the region and the falling oil prices which could easily have colluded with insecurity and uncertainty in the region quietly went away.

There was a new hope for Nigeria and he was rightly applauded locally and internationally for intervening at a time when things were most sensitive. But not only did he calm things in the Niger Delta, but he also opened an avenue for some of the ex-militants.

For those who have had the privilege to be in this same room as Prof Osinbajo, you’ll agree that he is the full package. He is a leader, father, orator, inspirational speaker, lawyer, pastor, teacher etc but most importantly is the fact that he loves Nigeria. He loves Nigeria so much that sometimes you wonder why? This he shares in common with President Buhari who has so much belief in him that he sent him to deliver a Holy Grail. But that is a story for another day.

While addressing the then militants, Prof Osinbajo told them that there is a new oil well in Nigeria and he explained that if they can carefully mine it, they will have gold on their hands. That oil well was agriculture and in the audience was a certain entrepreneur, Reston Tedheke.

At the time, he was an ex-militant but the entrepreneur in him was always going to come out, it only needed an inspirational speech and an outlet from the erudite professor of law. Oh boy, did that speech work? Yes, it did. It worked like magic. He caught the bug right there and he knew in his mind what he was going to do to put himself on the billionaire list.

Born in Delta state but resident in the creeks in Bayelsa, Mr Tedheke made his way to the north of Nigeria, for Nasarawa state. If you say Nasarawa state chose him then you are right but if you say he chose Nasarawa, you are also right. It was a partnership made in heaven, and only him and the people of Ga’ate community in Nasarawa can explain how they have blossomed over the last few years.

On arriving at Ga’ate, the people took to him, they saw something him and at that point, they knew they were going to make history together. While still getting to know his new surroundings, Mr Tedheke was gifted three hectares of land to start his new adventure.

This is nothing like the creek, where he needed to learn a new language, meet new people, develop new relationships and make history if he could and somehow all these happened before he could even say, Jack Robinson.

As it is with most successful people, Mr Tedheke embraced his humble beginning and got straight to work. All the distractions available in the creek were no more, now was the time to work and make a name for himself and the community that had been so generous to him.

He had heard that President Buhari was determined to diversify away from crude oil and that he had his eyes on agriculture especially rice, which Nigeria had to potential to produce for its near 200 million population and also export to other countries.

The first farm produce was, therefore, rice and he did get it right. First, he showed how selfless and patriotic he was by branding the rice Ga’ate, after the community that had given him a home and the needed piece of land to start off. This legacy will never go away, the actions by the community and Mr Tedheke showed that Nigeria is stronger together and that there is more to achieve collectively.

This was not a relationship based on ethnicity, religion or tribe but one built on ‘will’ and the Nigerian spirit that cannot be broken. Hand in hand, they started from 3 hectares to 3,000 hectares. Mr. Retson then went on to found National Farmers Group and Cooperative Society Ga’ate, Nasarawa, a cooperative that currently supports over 500 farmers and 400 workers.

Reflecting on his achievements in Nasarawa, he said, “We did it by being true Nigerians and developed it close to Abuja so anyone can see what we do. I’m originally from Bayelsa state, born in Delta state, now I live here and the Governor (of Nasarawa) is my Governor,” an emotional Tedheke said.

The business that started with N1.5 million is now worth a billion naira. With about 300 to 500 workers on the farm from across the country and hundreds more in indirect labour, Ga’ate is gradually becoming a community to reckon with and is finding its way on the global map.

The limelight beamed on Mr Tedheke and Ga’ate when Vice President Yemi Osinbajo paid the farm a visit on 17 October 2019 and even he was blown away by how the words and mediation of 2017 have germinated into the next big thing.

RE: Despite What Osinbajo Did To Me, I won’t Join Those Plotting His Downfall-Bode George

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, is completely baffled by a statement credited to Chief Olabode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP to the effect that he had forgiven the VP for his alleged role in his (Chief George) incarceration for alleged contract splitting during his tenure as Chairman of the Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA.

According to the Vice President, “ I honestly hope that this is fake news and the product of some mischief as the entire story is a complete fabrication.“

However, it is now important to set the records straight as follows, in rebuttal of this amazing falsehood!

1. Chief Olabode George’s trial commenced in August 2008, a year after Prof. Osinbajo left as Attorney-General of Lagos State. ( He served as Attorney General from 1999 to 2007.) Chief George was convicted by the High Court in 2009.

2. Chief Olabode George was charged to court by the EFCC, a Federal Government agency, not the Ministry of Justice, Lagos State. Chief George’s party, the PDP was in office at the center in Abuja at the time.

3. Chief Olabode George was charged under Sections 104 and 203 of the Criminal Code. The Code has been in force since 1914! Indeed both provisions have been in the Code since then. Every State in the South of Nigeria cites it as it’s own law.

Prof. Osinbajo clearly could not therefore, as Chief George alleged, have “connived with Tinubu to draft the unknown law that was used to convict him”. Neither Prof. Osinbajo, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, nor the House of Assembly, Lagos State passed any new Criminal law. In any event, their tenure ended a year before he was charged to court.

The other law that came up at the Supreme Court, “The Public Procurement Act 2007,” is an Act of the National Assembly, not a State law.

4. The Vice President never met Chief Olabode George on any flight within or outside Nigeria. He also never had a discussion with him on his conviction or incarceration on any flight or at any time . Indeed the only interaction the VP had with Chief George since his incarceration was in 2017 at the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the founding of Lagos State, where the VP was guest of honour . The VP greeted him where he sat with other elders of Lagos State. There was no discussion whatsoever in that brief encounter.

It is hoped that these claims were only falsely credited to him, otherwise one would have to wonder how he came about such an outlandish fiction, complete with a meeting on a flight that definitely never happened!

PoliticsN90bn: Wazobia FM Retracts Osinbajo Story, Apologises To VP by Zeemam(op): 4:29pm On Oct 15, 2019
Wazobia FM has apologised and retracted its story on the allegations made by Timi Frank that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo received N90 billion from FIRS as campaign funds for 2019 polls.

Wazobia FM apologized to Prof. Osinbajo, saying that it had since discovered, like other well-meaning individuals and Nigerian organisations including Vanguard Newspaper that the allegations were baseless, untrue and unsubstantiated.

The radio station aired the news report of the unfounded allegations on its popular programme titled: ”Dem Say Dem Say”, retracted the reports, saying ”We are sorry Vice President.”

Wazobia FM tendered its unreserved apology to Prof Osinbajo thorough the presenter of the programme, popularly known as Expensive James, saying that it erroneously joined the broadcast of fake news.

It was gathered that the Vice President, had ,through his solicitors, Osaror Ehogbami SAN and Femi Atoyebi SAN, written to the station that the report was meant to tarnish his hard-earned reputation built over the years, saying that Vice President Osinbajo had never been found wanting or linked to any act of corruption in his private or public offices.

In a letter to the station, the solicitors had said that for over four decades, the VP had been a distinguished scholar and legal practitioner and had risen through the ranks and files of his career. The lawyers added that the VP was Attorney General of Lagos State for 8 years and became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2002 with unblemished records.
